Today's Rollup Characters:

[00:00:17] Oh, hello.

[00:00:17] No, I'm joking.

[00:00:21] Hi, welcome to the Roleplaying Exchange.

[00:00:24] As you were saying, hi, welcome to the Roleplaying Exchange.

[00:00:28] This is Adam and...

[00:00:30] Oh, hello, and welcome to, like he said, Roleplaying Exchange.

[00:00:36] I'm Review Cultist.

[00:00:38] Well, I'm glad to have you on board here.

[00:00:40] I hope you all don't mind that little jarring introduction here.

[00:00:43] It just, it seemed like a good joke that I lost, but thank you, Review Cultist Chris.

[00:00:47] He's on the man with many names.

[00:00:49] You saved my height on this one here.

[00:00:52] Anytime!

[00:00:54] So, with these rollups, which were, this is a session zero for the game that most times never happened.

[00:01:00] It's stuff like that.

[00:01:02] We've been wanting to use games that we have not played.

[00:01:05] The games that's been sitting on our bookshelves, our wall of shame, if you will.

[00:01:09] The games we want to get to, but we just haven't yet.

[00:01:13] Wade, games that we don't get to play.

[00:01:16] Why are we doing covering the one we're covering right now?

[00:01:19] Well, Chris, to answer your question of why we're doing this one, it's a game near and dear to my heart.

[00:01:25] Been, you know, ever since I started listening to actual plays and get back into tabletop RPGs, Delta Green stood out to me.

[00:01:32] It was everything that I wanted from a Call of Cthulhu game with cosmic horror, but I'm not really the most interested in, you know, the 1920s or 30s and the older technology and things like that.

[00:01:45] So it didn't quite hit those bells and whistles, but Delta Green does because Delta Green, at least in this iteration, takes place in the current.

[00:01:54] The here and now.

[00:01:56] Yeah.

[00:01:57] Actually, probably.

[00:01:57] Yeah.

[00:01:58] Like as this is the second iteration of Delta Green as the original one was for the original Call of Cthulhu BPR system back in the nineties.

[00:02:07] So it was X-Files meets the Cthulhu mythos.

[00:02:12] And a couple of years back, they, the, the creators of that supplement for Cthulhu went ahead and made a standalone product, the official Delta Green tabletop RPG.

[00:02:23] And there are now whispers of a second edition coming out at some point in the next few years.

[00:02:28] So don't you love second editions or like new additions, Adam?

[00:02:33] Oh, I love them.

[00:02:35] Corlealis, 13th age, whatever.

[00:02:39] It's cool that there's an interest in it and they can continue.

[00:02:43] So you kind of touched on this beforehand, but by our comparisons here, but Delta Green is a horror, a horror role playing game that it blends cosmic horror with government conspiracy and modern day espionage.

[00:02:58] So Delta Green is a secret organization within inside the United States government.

[00:03:05] There are also the equivalents for a lot of the other countries.

[00:03:10] I know Canada's was.

[00:03:12] MEPIC.

[00:03:13] MEPIC.

[00:03:14] A totally legit weather investigation, a weather anomaly investigation program.

[00:03:20] And Pisces was the English counterpart, if I'm not mistaken.

[00:03:25] MEPIC.

[00:03:25] Everything is fine with Pisces.

[00:03:27] Nothing is wrong.

[00:03:28] There are no brain bugs in our bodies.

[00:03:32] Yeah, they, they perhaps been compromised a bit.

[00:03:36] And I think even Russia had like GR8 or something of the equivalent.

[00:03:39] I can't recall that one off the top of my head.

[00:03:41] Everything is smooth.

[00:03:43] We are in Russia.

[00:03:45] Oh, so.

[00:03:48] Don't talk about the Skopsy.

[00:03:52] So we've got this, uh, government conspiracy and that's why a lot of people compare it to the X-Files.

[00:03:57] Though I do think the game actually predates the X-Files a little bit.

[00:04:02] So, yeah, I, I, I've, I've read that where one of the creators, that were, I swear I've read it.

[00:04:08] And Dennis, if you're listening to this and I got this wrong, my bad dude, but I believe it, it does predate Delta Green, not Delta Green.

[00:04:16] It does predate the X-Files.

[00:04:18] Oh, cool.

[00:04:19] So you've got this government agency that's protecting humanity from existential threats, the unnatural, supernatural.

[00:04:28] And yeah, that's pretty much the framework of the game.

[00:04:31] It can be pretty brutal, much like Call of Cthulhu.

[00:04:36] And in most cases, you're going to be taking a role of a Delta Green operative.

[00:04:39] Now that you're a shadow organization.

[00:04:41] So Delta Green is a stipend you're getting.

[00:04:44] It's a side job, a side hustle.

[00:04:45] You're not.

[00:04:47] Well, you're not formally acknowledged.

[00:04:50] Yes and no.

[00:04:52] Cause in the, the original version, like in the nineties version, there was the Cowboys, which were cause like something happened in the seventies or like near the end of the seventies.

[00:05:02] And basically the program that was originally official got basically like they, they, they closed it down.

[00:05:10] But all those agents that were still around, they were like, the shit is still happening.

[00:05:14] We need to like, make sure this, like there's somebody still to fight it.

[00:05:18] So they started up these illegal conspiracies within the government and basically headhunted various individuals and went on.

[00:05:27] Like, basically it was like underground, like behind everybody's backs, even the government's backs to do a bunch of covert work to try and like hunt down and destroy the mythos.

[00:05:38] But then in the later years, the more recent years, which with the reprisal of the Delta Green tabletop RPG standalone, there's now the program where the government has now reinstated the Delta Green program and are bringing people back out of the cold.

[00:05:57] Mm-hmm.

[00:05:59] Mm-hmm.

[00:05:59] But there is still like a small contingent that are still cowboys and that, but there are now people who are, uh, what is it? Career, career agents for the program.

[00:06:08] So I think that is something fucked up in Vietnam.

[00:06:11] It started off.

[00:06:13] Yeah.

[00:06:13] Uh, story-wise, I think the big inciting incident for the creation of Delta Green was the incident, the incident, which was a shadow of against with HP Lovecraft story.

[00:06:25] And then the Navy goes in there to wipe them out, encounters these otherworldly aquatic fishmen and the atrocities that happened there led to P division becoming Delta Green, which Delta Green and something horrible happens that I don't think is officially canonized yet.

[00:06:45] I think it's actually in the fall of Delta Green.

[00:06:48] I think that's like all Delta Green kind of shows up basically the, the, the years leading up to the fall of Delta Green.

[00:06:56] So like in, in fall of Delta Green, which is another RPG entirely, it's the seventies and Delta Green's got all the money and all the backing and stuff.

[00:07:05] And then something happens in Vietnam and it basically merits the government just to completely close down the program for several decades.

[00:07:16] So, and there's, I mean, we could go tons into the lore here.

[00:07:20] There's like a counter organization within the government that was all about alien technology and stuff.

[00:07:27] Marsh technologies.

[00:07:29] Is it, is it March or Marsh?

[00:07:31] Like, is it like March the month or is it March, like the pond or the wetland?

[00:07:35] I always thought it was March.

[00:07:36] Like, cause it March was a family name.

[00:07:38] That's what I always thought.

[00:07:40] Sorry.

[00:07:41] Like, yeah, let's start.

[00:07:41] We have this technology here.

[00:07:43] We can just, it's probably even in the book.

[00:07:47] It is.

[00:07:49] Majestic was what the March.

[00:07:52] Majestic 12, which was like that whole UFO conspiracy that they just kind of combined with Delta Green.

[00:08:00] And, and I think you're correct.

[00:08:02] It's from apparently this Reddit page that I just jumped to.

[00:08:05] I think it's March technology.

[00:08:07] And to answer something else, GRUSV8 was, I think the Russian.

[00:08:12] Yep.

[00:08:13] So this is the world.

[00:08:15] There's tons of, there's tons of books and there's tons of, there's quite a bit of fiction out there.

[00:08:20] I can think of like four or five books of fiction.

[00:08:23] I think it's pretty much dense that way.

[00:08:24] We're one of the creators and one of the main artists for this, for Arc Dream.

[00:08:28] I think all of the, that is all him or if not all of it.

[00:08:32] And no, it's, it's great.

[00:08:34] But I have backed and full disclosure so I can quit fanboying over this.

[00:08:38] I absolutely love this game.

[00:08:40] I've worked with Arc Dream to record several of their Delta Green panels for free.

[00:08:45] I didn't, I mean, I just showed up at Gen Con with a mic and everybody's like, yeah, you can clip that on me.

[00:08:49] And so I recorded several of their Arc Dream panels.

[00:08:54] I backed everything.

[00:08:55] I'm still receiving books from the first Kickstarter.

[00:08:59] And I still think I have books coming in from that, but I backed other Delta Green Kickstarters since then.

[00:09:04] So I like to laugh and make little cop jokes to my wife.

[00:09:08] Like I'm going to be dead and you're going to still be receiving books, Delta Green books.

[00:09:13] So, I mean, there's tons of them and more, more coming all the time.

[00:09:18] So, yeah.

[00:09:19] So mythos, government conspiracies, espionage.

[00:09:24] The modern day.

[00:09:26] Yeah.

[00:09:26] And the war on terror was very influential on all this.

[00:09:29] So, I guess today we're going to just go ahead and create some agents of sorts.

[00:09:36] By default, I think a lot of the military organizations, a lot of branches of the government or military and whatnot will file into Delta Green.

[00:09:46] So, you know, typically you can have an FBI agent, military man, et cetera, et cetera.

[00:09:50] And it should be said that these are all American government careers and such.

[00:09:56] Although there is one of the earlier supplements did have a bunch of Canadian government organizations that you could choose from during the through via the book countdown from the original Delta Green run.

[00:10:12] So that's that's one that has Canadian branches of government.

[00:10:16] And well, if you will, Chris, I always like to talk like this, like I'm leaving a prayer group or somewhat.

[00:10:22] Please turn in your hymnal to page, I think it's 16 and your physical bound copy.

[00:10:28] I'm going digital on this one.

[00:10:30] Despite the fact that I own two agents handbooks.

[00:10:34] Not not to counter you, but it's actually like the the rough out for like how to make a character is actually on 1415.

[00:10:41] So agent creation. So pretty simple, much like Call of Cthulhu.

[00:10:47] We can probably shoot through this fairly quick, but we'll see what we got.

[00:10:50] So step one.

[00:10:52] So on page 14 of the book here, there's a section called agent creation.

[00:10:57] There's several different steps here.

[00:10:59] The first one is you're going to be determining stats for strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, power, charisma.

[00:11:09] And, you know, typically between three and 10, three being low end, 10 being about average.

[00:11:14] And if you would like, there's two different methods you can do this with.

[00:11:18] You could either row 4D6 and you get your 4D6 error, drop the lowest, add it all up, throw it into a stat, etc., etc.

[00:11:26] There's also the assigned stat, which you've got 72 points to divide up among six stats, however you like.

[00:11:34] And there's that option or they actually have on page 19 a nice little array predetermined stats.

[00:11:42] So I think I'm going to go with that particular route there.

[00:11:45] So which way are you going to go, Chris?

[00:11:47] I am actually going to go randomization, if you don't mind.

[00:11:51] No, that's totally fine.

[00:11:52] I would like to see two different sets of this.

[00:11:57] Now, beforehand, now, and this may be jumping ahead just a tad bit.

[00:12:02] I'm just going to let what I pull up here determine what I'm creating.

[00:12:07] If you also, you know, would like to build a particular type of character, I'm not against that, too.

[00:12:14] You don't have to follow it from it to the letter, so to speak.

[00:12:20] Yeah.

[00:12:21] Now, I might honestly, because the game does have different professions that you can choose from.

[00:12:27] And I think I might what I might do is I might also roll a die and just see like like go from like one to whatever number and see what I end up with.

[00:12:37] OK, well, because that is something that we didn't bring up necessarily.

[00:12:40] But like one of the very strong or one of the strengths of Delta Green and one of the reasons why it was kind of created was to kind of on top of being a more modern take on the call of Cthulhu setting.

[00:12:52] And like the mythos, it also gave players and the GMs a way to throw a new character into the into the fray after the inevitable death or TPK of players.

[00:13:08] Of players.

[00:13:09] So like that was a big issue that the the creators had with like original Call of Cthulhu where you all start off with a well-rounded like you guys have all made your investigators.

[00:13:19] And then, oh, no, like Jimmy, the well-constructed like soldier veteran, a veteran has been like killed by a Shoggoth.

[00:13:29] We need we need somebody for for for that player to play.

[00:13:32] Let's go with Billy Bob, the the bellhop at the hotel we're staying at.

[00:13:37] You're you're coming with us now.

[00:13:38] And then by the end of the campaign, like the group is just like or just player character 45 and and hobo Williams or like like just random like like nonsensical like because they just like what they had to make it up on the go.

[00:13:55] And this actually gave you an organization that essentially pumps out cannon fodder against the mythos in a in a way that makes sense narratively and in the in the lore of the world.

[00:14:07] Yeah.

[00:14:08] Yeah.

[00:14:09] So that's that's how I'm going to I'm going to treat this is just basically make a character using random roles and also just see what I what character I end up getting.

[00:14:20] OK, this sounds good.

[00:14:21] Well, in the meantime, folks, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break so you can't you don't have to listen to all the hardcore rolling and discussing we're doing here.

[00:14:29] And we'll come back in just a few moments with a completed.

[00:14:33] Well, at least a sass.

[00:14:34] We'll have those sass and we'll kind of grow from there.

[00:14:38] The hot, hot dice rolling action.

[00:14:52] And we're back.

[00:14:53] So we went ahead and took a few liberties while we were off mic and went a little bit further of our character creations.

[00:14:59] But I would like to kind of go ahead and introduce my character and I'm going to go over his stats here.

[00:15:08] So I am playing Gerald T.

[00:15:11] Adkins.

[00:15:12] He GTA.

[00:15:14] He is an FBI agent, a federal agent, works for the FBI.

[00:15:19] Nationality is American.

[00:15:20] Male.

[00:15:21] 835, which I think I misdid my math because that means he would be born in.

[00:15:27] Yeah, I got it.

[00:15:29] I'll put 1986.

[00:15:30] I don't think that's right.

[00:15:32] But anyway, I'll fix that in a moment.

[00:15:34] And I'm saying that I have a master's degree in computer science.

[00:15:39] So probably brought in for the cybersecurity angle, I can tell you, as somebody who has taught computer science for public education.

[00:15:49] About 10 years ago, they just started pinning badges on anybody who could remotely program in education.

[00:15:55] I'm sure it was like that with the FBI and whatnot.

[00:15:59] And my stats are I did the array.

[00:16:02] So you have a well-rounded array.

[00:16:05] Array is a big fancy word for list.

[00:16:08] You have a focus and you have like an extraordinary, like you're skilled in one thing really well.

[00:16:13] I just took the middle of the road there.

[00:16:16] And I have a strength of 10.

[00:16:19] I have a constitution of 11, a dexterity of 12, intelligence, which is my high score, 15.

[00:16:25] I have a power of 14 and a charisma of 10.

[00:16:29] So none of these stats, by the way, are like they're average.

[00:16:34] The ones that are my lowest ones, which are 10 and 11.

[00:16:37] They're average.

[00:16:38] So I'm just a normal Joe with like charisma and whatnot.

[00:16:41] Now, to get a larger number here for your score, to get your actual score for it,

[00:16:48] you take the number, for example, strength, and you multiply it by 5 and 50.

[00:16:54] So I went through the list and did all of that.

[00:16:58] And once you do this with the formula, there's hit points, willpower, and sanity points, which are, well, we'll get into that in a moment here.

[00:17:08] Chris, why don't you tell me about your character?

[00:17:10] All right.

[00:17:11] My character is Adam J.

[00:17:13] Barrett.

[00:17:13] He is a paramedic, works for Doctors Without Borders.

[00:17:18] He is dual citizenship of American-Canadian because me.

[00:17:22] He's educated from McGill University and he's 29, born on May 14th.

[00:17:30] He's a male.

[00:17:33] Strength is 13.

[00:17:35] Constitution is 13.

[00:17:37] Dexterity is 8.

[00:17:38] Intelligence is 11.

[00:17:39] Power is 13.

[00:17:41] And charisma is 14.

[00:17:43] So when you times up that by 5, you get 65, 65, 40, 55, 65, 70.

[00:17:52] And I think that's up to what you had, right?

[00:17:55] Unless you want me to go into the skill or have you done that yet?

[00:17:58] I'll go ahead and just explain it a bit.

[00:18:00] And I've answered a question.

[00:18:03] I found an answer to a question we had off mic too.

[00:18:06] So your hit points are derived by taking your strength and adding it to the con.

[00:18:11] So, for example, my strength.

[00:18:13] And dividing by 2.

[00:18:15] And dividing by 2.

[00:18:16] Yeah.

[00:18:16] So if my strength is 10, my con is 11, and that gives me 21, and I divide by 2.

[00:18:23] Now, off mic, we were saying, do you round up or down?

[00:18:26] Because that gives me 10.5.

[00:18:29] And I thought that I knew the creators of the game.

[00:18:32] And I said, well, obviously, you're going to round down.

[00:18:34] But on page 16, there's like a little cheat sheet here of how to create an agent.

[00:18:39] It says you round up.

[00:18:40] So I actually have a hit point.

[00:18:43] My hit points are 11.

[00:18:45] Looks like willpower is your pal.

[00:18:48] So 14.

[00:18:51] And my sanity is...

[00:18:55] Sanity's pal times 5.

[00:18:57] So that would have been 70.

[00:18:59] So how are you looking?

[00:19:00] I am looking...

[00:19:02] So my health...

[00:19:03] My hit points are 13.

[00:19:05] My willpower is 13.

[00:19:07] My sanity is 65, with a breaking point of 52.

[00:19:12] Okay.

[00:19:13] I would like you to...

[00:19:14] I didn't even talk about my breaking point, but we'll get into that in a moment.

[00:19:18] There's a rule here that I've never partook of.

[00:19:22] But I would like us to try this as kind of trying to figure out who Adam and Gerald are.

[00:19:29] So it mentions on this little...

[00:19:31] I'm sure on page 16.

[00:19:34] High and low stats.

[00:19:35] So like 9...

[00:19:37] You know...

[00:19:38] Like 9 and up, I guess you could say.

[00:19:42] I'll have to double check that.

[00:19:43] You need to tell something about your physical description.

[00:19:47] So...

[00:19:48] Yeah.

[00:19:48] I mean, I'm just going to use like one word.

[00:19:50] Kind of description.

[00:19:52] So my strength and dexterity and constitution.

[00:19:57] I'm just an athletic.

[00:20:00] Okay.

[00:20:01] I guess my highest is 14.

[00:20:03] So charismatic.

[00:20:04] And I guess I'd put like best bedside manner.

[00:20:10] Or great bedside manner.

[00:20:13] That sounds pretty good.

[00:20:15] For that.

[00:20:16] And then for dexterity.

[00:20:19] He doesn't go to the range.

[00:20:23] For dexterity.

[00:20:24] Or no, no.

[00:20:25] It's like...

[00:20:26] Or it's like...

[00:20:27] Yeah, I guess this like...

[00:20:29] There's a reason I didn't put anything in surgery.

[00:20:31] For skills.

[00:20:33] He's...

[00:20:33] I'm going to say that that's...

[00:20:36] What's a word for like...

[00:20:37] Butterfingers?

[00:20:38] I guess.

[00:20:39] A klutz.

[00:20:40] Yeah.

[00:20:41] Yeah.

[00:20:41] Klutz.

[00:20:42] Like for having a low...

[00:20:43] Like a very low dexterity.

[00:20:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:20:46] Maybe you have low dexterity because you're really tall.

[00:20:48] Yeah, that could be it.

[00:20:50] Yeah.

[00:20:50] I'm a big lanky.

[00:20:51] Like honestly, he's...

[00:20:52] Yeah, he's a pretty big...

[00:20:54] Big...

[00:20:55] Like...

[00:20:55] He's a unit.

[00:20:57] In terms of like...

[00:20:59] Yeah.

[00:20:59] All of his other stats, it seems.

[00:21:02] How is...

[00:21:03] That's like just grit, right?

[00:21:05] That's just like...

[00:21:06] Or is that constituted?

[00:21:07] What's POW?

[00:21:08] POW is a force of personality, motivation, and psychic resilience.

[00:21:14] As said from the stat description on page 19.

[00:21:19] Okay.

[00:21:20] Then we need that.

[00:21:21] Yeah.

[00:21:21] For dexterity, it would be agility, coordination, and nimbleness.

[00:21:25] So yeah, klutz.

[00:21:27] In a word, klutz.

[00:21:31] So for you, your lowest is POW then?

[00:21:34] No.

[00:21:35] Strength, which it's focused.

[00:21:37] So I don't have like super low stats on anything here.

[00:21:40] Anything eight is feeble.

[00:21:42] I think pretty much nine to 11 is kind of normal.

[00:21:46] So I just put athletic, just being generic.

[00:21:49] So my strength, con, and dexter are just, you know, athletic.

[00:21:53] So it's somebody who takes care of themselves.

[00:21:56] My int is my highest, and it's 15.

[00:21:59] So I would put that he was a bookworm.

[00:22:01] And my POW is 14.

[00:22:03] So I would just say he's kind of stubborn or driven.

[00:22:07] And my charisma is 10.

[00:22:09] So I don't know.

[00:22:11] It's not like a super high charisma score, but it's about average.

[00:22:14] What would you say would be an average, like disposition for your charm?

[00:22:18] I'm trying to think of a good description.

[00:22:21] Like, yeah, an average for your charm.

[00:22:23] So you're like, you're not charming, but you're not like, like horrible looking.

[00:22:28] Like probably just like plain or what is it?

[00:22:30] Homely?

[00:22:31] Cordial?

[00:22:32] Yeah.

[00:22:32] Yeah.

[00:22:32] Cordial.

[00:22:33] I was, I was, yeah.

[00:22:33] Homely or cordial.

[00:22:35] I'd say.

[00:22:35] Yeah.

[00:22:36] I might have to look up how to spell cordial.

[00:22:37] I've never spelled that word in my life, but I'll look it up in the meantime.

[00:22:41] I think, what's the next thing we did?

[00:22:44] So while I.

[00:22:44] Next up is bonds, I believe, actually.

[00:22:47] Ah, well, I'm looking at a cheat sheet.

[00:22:50] So you choose a profession.

[00:22:51] Now we've already done this part here.

[00:22:54] But not only did it give us kind of an idea of what we were working with here, but there's

[00:22:58] kind of some pre-filled out stats for that.

[00:23:00] So we choose a profession from a list starting on page 20 from the federal aid and, or from

[00:23:08] federal agencies.

[00:23:09] It was started on 104.

[00:23:10] So we pretty much went for the professions for our pick, our rundown.

[00:23:15] I wrote mine down.

[00:23:16] FBI, a federal agent.

[00:23:18] Yours was a paramedic.

[00:23:20] Yeah.

[00:23:21] I should also state.

[00:23:22] Um, so like, like we said earlier, I went with like random roles for my stats.

[00:23:26] I also decided to go randomly, like roll randomly on, on what profession I was going to have.

[00:23:32] So I basically like added up what, how many professions there were and then just rolled

[00:23:36] a D20 and left whatever numbers there weren't.

[00:23:39] So I ended up with paramedic through that way.

[00:23:41] So my character is pretty randomly rolled in terms of like abilities and profession.

[00:23:47] And it, that's so fun because you, you told me off mic, you were going into this kind

[00:23:52] of green with your character.

[00:23:53] So we're not going to be taking any of the other modifications we were talking about beforehand

[00:23:58] off mic, but I think it'd be really fun for a handler.

[00:24:04] I think that's the name for the keeper or GM in, in Delta green.

[00:24:09] I think it'd be really cool for a handler to, you know, give you your first taste of Delta

[00:24:14] green, like in, you know, in media risks.

[00:24:17] Yeah.

[00:24:18] This is your origin story.

[00:24:20] You know, the defibrillator of your partner clear.

[00:24:24] And then, you know, the thing bites her hands off type of ordeal.

[00:24:28] Welcome to the program.

[00:24:30] Yeah.

[00:24:31] Yeah.

[00:24:31] And it also like, like, cause of every other like Delta green agent I've ended up playing,

[00:24:36] I have used the, one of the, the four like veteran agent, like things on it.

[00:24:41] And I decided like this time I'm just going to go in like clean.

[00:24:44] Let's, let's start off fresh before we go into the meat grinder.

[00:24:48] Yeah.

[00:24:49] So with the professions and there's like 19 of them, we're not going to rattle off.

[00:24:55] Sorry.

[00:24:56] There's 18.

[00:24:57] I mean, we're not going to rattle off all of them.

[00:24:59] Just, you know, it's just everything from computer science, anthropology to federal agents,

[00:25:04] military scientists, but there's some really cool additional ones, which is what you took,

[00:25:09] you chose from.

[00:25:11] So you were a nurse or a paramedic.

[00:25:14] There's criminal firefighter lawyer.

[00:25:18] So, you know, these are, yeah, these are all the ones that are outside of the purview

[00:25:24] there, but we picked them and just to, for example, go ahead and pull yours up as well.

[00:25:29] If you don't mind, when I choose the federal agent, it mostly says that it's FBI, but there's

[00:25:37] a whole page dedicated to federal agencies, but it gives me on top of that information.

[00:25:43] It gives you your recommended stats.

[00:25:45] So con, pal, and charisma, which I probably screwed that one up just a tad bit on the

[00:25:53] spectrum there.

[00:25:54] I should have switched some points around for the recommended stats, but they give you

[00:25:58] professional skills at a certain level.

[00:26:00] So it tells me I get alertness at 50, bureaucracy at 40, criminology at 50, drive at 50, firearms

[00:26:07] at 50, forensics at 30, human intelligence at 60, law at 30, persuade at 50, search at

[00:26:14] 50, and on car bat at 60.

[00:26:16] And then you get to choose one particular like area of expertise.

[00:26:20] It could be anything from heavy weapons to foreign language, accounting, pharmacy, but I chose

[00:26:25] computer science.

[00:26:27] So I began the game with like 50 in computer science.

[00:26:31] And that was really my character career, where I've cemented my character concept.

[00:26:36] He is one of the early rounds of people who got into the field of cybersecurity before that

[00:26:42] was what it is today.

[00:26:44] So he's 35 and, you know, he got in at the ground floor.

[00:26:51] Now, this page also tells you your bonds.

[00:26:54] And I have three bonds, but we'll go into that in a moment.

[00:26:58] Chris, how about you?

[00:26:59] What did you pick again?

[00:27:01] And what did, what was its recommended and your stats?

[00:27:05] Yeah.

[00:27:05] So I, I randomly rolled paramedic.

[00:27:08] So the recommended stats for them are int, pow, and charisma.

[00:27:12] And I got, you know, two of three of those are, are my highest score.

[00:27:16] So I'm, I'm doing good.

[00:27:17] Ms. Intelligence is a little bit lackluster or average, but that's fine.

[00:27:23] Professional skills I ended up getting were alertness at 40, bureaucracy at 40, first aid

[00:27:28] at 60, human at 40, medicine at 40, persuade at 40, pharmacy, 40, science biology at 40.

[00:27:37] And then whereas you as a federal agent get to choose one extra skill, the paramedic gets

[00:27:43] two.

[00:27:44] So I went with drive 60 and I believe psychotherapy at 50.

[00:27:49] And so I kind of figured like when he was like, he was going into schooling or maybe when

[00:27:54] it was at like a hospital before he became a doctor without borders, he was probably an

[00:27:58] ambulance like driver or like he was running with the ambulance and stuff like that.

[00:28:02] And then as a bond, he has four bonds.

[00:28:06] So bond wise, we can go ahead and jump into it.

[00:28:09] I got three now.

[00:28:10] So your bonds, they get your charisma score.

[00:28:14] So you got a score.

[00:28:15] So I came up with Randall Adkins, which was my brother, Cindy Weathers.

[00:28:20] I have a fiance and Lonnie Akers, who is my BFF.

[00:28:25] And I gave them all tens.

[00:28:28] Now, the way this works is, and I think it's true to life.

[00:28:33] I think it's really neat mechanic here.

[00:28:35] You kind of project things onto them, which is not cool, but it's cool that game was.

[00:28:40] So if you're going through some sanity renting issue and if you're going to take a sanity

[00:28:48] hit, you can actually roll on your bond and decrease your bond score.

[00:28:53] And you kind of project like, well, my brother Randall, who's sitting there at the, you know,

[00:28:59] doing this blah, blah, blah, you know, working as a.

[00:29:02] He's sitting at this cozy job at home and not having to deal with this bullshit sanity

[00:29:07] monsters that are attacking me.

[00:29:09] I'm sitting here with a hacksaw trying to dismember a body of a human being who is not a human

[00:29:14] being.

[00:29:14] So I can bury, you know, so.

[00:29:17] Or even worse for that buffer is like the body you're hacking apart kind of looks like

[00:29:23] your brother.

[00:29:25] That's the buffer.

[00:29:28] Like the dissociation is kind of kicking in.

[00:29:31] So, yeah.

[00:29:32] This is one of these good moments where you probably ought to know your player's X card,

[00:29:37] so to speak.

[00:29:38] I am, I have two children.

[00:29:41] And when I was going through the character creation process, the obvious thing, you know,

[00:29:45] my wife, my daughter, my son, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

[00:29:49] But for me, while I wanted to make it realistic, there's a part of me that doesn't want to see

[00:29:54] that.

[00:29:55] So I picked, I picked things that were, didn't hit too close to home, so to speak.

[00:30:00] So would definitely recommend that everybody who plays this game have a nice conversation

[00:30:05] prior to a session, but maybe even prior to character creation of like what you can expect

[00:30:10] from a Delta Green game.

[00:30:12] So, yeah.

[00:30:14] It doesn't have to be as involved as like a lot of those things are, but like it's a,

[00:30:18] it's like, as long as you guys have like communicate, like make sure your, your players aren't going

[00:30:22] to be, are going to be okay with running a horror game that is designed to be uncomfortable

[00:30:27] and, and have like some safety things for the character, for the, for the players.

[00:30:33] Because like not everybody's comfortable with certain things.

[00:30:36] Like there's a reason one of my bonds is in a dog.

[00:30:42] Cause I hate dogs dying in horror movies, but I love horror movies, but I hate the, I hate

[00:30:47] it when the dog dies.

[00:30:48] So, and I would, uh, I've learned this lesson the hard way in other games.

[00:30:54] Yeah.

[00:30:55] I have a, have a conversation so everybody can have a good time and you can't, you don't

[00:30:59] cross any bad boundaries.

[00:31:02] Now let's see.

[00:31:03] I'm gonna go back up to my page here on character creation.

[00:31:07] I love the fact.

[00:31:08] Do you still have bonds or is that all your bonds or?

[00:31:10] Oh yeah.

[00:31:11] I took you three.

[00:31:13] I got Randall, Sandy and Lonnie.

[00:31:16] Lained after our old friend of the podcast, Lonnie.

[00:31:19] Nice.

[00:31:19] Miss you buddy.

[00:31:21] Now I try not to project onto you too much.

[00:31:25] So we've got our professional skills that we have written down.

[00:31:29] You also going through the gamut of skills that are on the character sheet.

[00:31:35] You can add 20, eight times.

[00:31:38] So eight twenties to other stats.

[00:31:40] And there's quite a bit of them.

[00:31:41] We're not going to rattle off all of them, but I mentioned this to you beforehand.

[00:31:46] And I talk, I think every time I talk, it just comes up, I'll mention Ross Payton.

[00:31:51] When I started doing Patreon games with Ross Payton, he mentioned a lot.

[00:31:55] You could tell call Cthulhu veterans by the fact that their dodge skill is just maxed out.

[00:32:02] So I went ahead and at least put an additional 20 in my dodge.

[00:32:05] So I modified the skill, the point, the number that it had by 20.

[00:32:09] And you can do this up to 80 or at the GM's discretion.

[00:32:13] So I just kind of spread an additional 160 points out throughout my character sheet in like 20 point blocks.

[00:32:22] I did something similar.

[00:32:24] Like I went with dodge because I learned from shadow run.

[00:32:28] You get dodge.

[00:32:31] But I also went with, look at my stuff here.

[00:32:34] I boosted up my first aid of medicine a little bit.

[00:32:39] Cause you could do that.

[00:32:40] You could also boost up your current ones.

[00:32:42] Yeah.

[00:32:43] I also gave myself melee weapons, no guns.

[00:32:47] So this will be fun.

[00:32:49] I navigate.

[00:32:50] I gave myself some navigate and stealth and search as well.

[00:32:58] But everything else, I kind of like beefed up some of my other professional skills.

[00:33:03] There is an optional way as well.

[00:33:05] If you did, if you wanted to kind of streamline this a bit more,

[00:33:09] you can actually just pick from a list of packages of like what your,

[00:33:13] what your person had done previously.

[00:33:15] So instead of us picking out these eight things,

[00:33:18] I could go through here and say that my FBI agent has a liberal arts degree.

[00:33:26] So I would put 20 into anthropology,

[00:33:29] archeology,

[00:33:29] art,

[00:33:31] forensics,

[00:33:31] foreign language,

[00:33:33] history,

[00:33:33] persuade,

[00:33:34] and then three others.

[00:33:36] So,

[00:33:36] you know,

[00:33:37] they've got quite a few lists here.

[00:33:38] You can go through and fine tune your character with.

[00:33:43] I see.

[00:33:45] Hold on.

[00:33:46] Can I do my bonds?

[00:33:47] Oh,

[00:33:47] I'm sorry.

[00:33:50] Sorry.

[00:33:51] I was projecting onto you.

[00:33:52] I'm sorry.

[00:33:53] Please go ahead.

[00:33:54] I'm a little,

[00:33:55] I'm a little proud of this one.

[00:33:56] So,

[00:33:57] so Adam Barrett has a wife named Lily,

[00:34:01] a mother named Jane and a daughter named Evelyn,

[00:34:05] and also a grandmother named Nana Barrett.

[00:34:09] So,

[00:34:09] and they're all there,

[00:34:10] all their bond scores are at 14 because the character has a charisma of 14.

[00:34:15] And if you don't get the reference of why I named them that way,

[00:34:17] well,

[00:34:18] I'm sorry.

[00:34:20] Gotta get some,

[00:34:21] y'all gotta find Jesus.

[00:34:25] Chris,

[00:34:25] are we done?

[00:34:26] I think so.

[00:34:27] Except for you wanted to use the,

[00:34:30] you wanted to go with like a veteran character.

[00:34:33] So you get to have a,

[00:34:35] something wrong with you that from,

[00:34:37] from your experience with dealing with the unnatural.

[00:34:39] All right.

[00:34:40] So what,

[00:34:40] what options do I have though?

[00:34:42] Like what kind of veteran stuff do I got?

[00:34:44] So there are like,

[00:34:45] not all of them are unnatural.

[00:34:47] There's ones like,

[00:34:48] so we,

[00:34:49] there's four from,

[00:34:50] for being a damaged veteran.

[00:34:51] There's extreme violence that was done on you.

[00:34:54] You were privy to being like in captivity or imprisonment.

[00:35:00] And you,

[00:35:01] there's the option of having just hard experience from being an agent or my

[00:35:07] favorite.

[00:35:07] And the one I always ended up choosing,

[00:35:09] except for this in this,

[00:35:10] this scenario,

[00:35:11] things man was not meant to know,

[00:35:14] which gives you all the good,

[00:35:16] juicy mythos,

[00:35:17] occultism stuff at the price of your pal and your family members and charisma.

[00:35:25] Oh,

[00:35:25] let's look at that then.

[00:35:27] So your agent gains 10% and a natural skill,

[00:35:29] which you had to earn it.

[00:35:31] You can't pick.

[00:35:32] Yes.

[00:35:32] That is not something you can get.

[00:35:33] Just like you,

[00:35:34] you like me reading call me,

[00:35:36] reading the call of Cthulhu or any like various lovecraft mythos books does

[00:35:40] not immediately give me knowledge on the mythos.

[00:35:44] It's something that you have to unfortunately see with your own eyes and you

[00:35:47] can never unsee.

[00:35:48] Yeah.

[00:35:49] So I am going to reduce my sand by his or her pal.

[00:35:54] So it's going to take my sand down from 70 to 56.

[00:35:58] All right.

[00:35:59] And I think that also modifies your breaking point too,

[00:36:01] right?

[00:36:01] Cause your breaking point is essentially that too.

[00:36:03] You just,

[00:36:03] you just subtract your pal again.

[00:36:05] So my next pat next one would be 42.

[00:36:09] I think.

[00:36:10] Oh,

[00:36:10] the answer to life,

[00:36:12] the universe and everything.

[00:36:14] The agent gains a new disorder caused by the natural on page 72.

[00:36:19] And it resets the breaking point of their sand minus pal.

[00:36:23] I don't see.

[00:36:24] Let me go to the top of that page.

[00:36:26] I don't see that it actually affects my bonds as is.

[00:36:30] Oh,

[00:36:31] I thought it might have it.

[00:36:32] That might be for one of the other ones.

[00:36:34] Yeah.

[00:36:35] That that's for art,

[00:36:35] hard experience.

[00:36:36] Oh yeah.

[00:36:37] Hard experience.

[00:36:38] Okay.

[00:36:38] Cause basically like it's a work life management issues.

[00:36:42] All right.

[00:36:43] Let's look at page 72.

[00:36:44] We'll see what kind of disorder I could have.

[00:36:48] Now there are some sample ones and I think I'm just going to go with the

[00:36:54] sample stuff.

[00:36:55] I I've always been a little bit uncomfortable with,

[00:37:00] well,

[00:37:01] no,

[00:37:01] there's more samples.

[00:37:02] There's addiction,

[00:37:02] PTSD.

[00:37:03] I was on the wrong page.

[00:37:04] There is one sample or disorders from the unnatural.

[00:37:07] So I never present a dangerous concept.

[00:37:10] The unknowable.

[00:37:11] How does the mind,

[00:37:13] an organ designed to figure out things,

[00:37:15] handle something that it can never understand.

[00:37:17] And not well,

[00:37:18] here are some typical responses.

[00:37:21] You can throw a D eight for me.

[00:37:22] Randomness.

[00:37:23] Certainly can go for one,

[00:37:27] go for one.

[00:37:28] Six.

[00:37:30] Six.

[00:37:31] Think you got megalomania or is that?

[00:37:33] No,

[00:37:33] hang on.

[00:37:34] Yeah,

[00:37:34] it looks like megalomania.

[00:37:37] All right.

[00:37:38] So what does it mean to look upon the face of a dead God and live?

[00:37:42] Some see themselves as a Messiah figures.

[00:37:45] Others realize this elevated perspective exempts them from ordinary morality.

[00:37:50] When this disorder is triggered,

[00:37:53] it makes your agent impossible to interact with.

[00:37:56] All uses of charisma,

[00:37:58] bureaucracy,

[00:37:59] disguise,

[00:37:59] persuade,

[00:38:00] psychotherapy.

[00:38:01] They all fail.

[00:38:03] As every double eight,

[00:38:05] as every doubt about your agent superiority fills him with indignation.

[00:38:09] So.

[00:38:10] Rusty Cole.

[00:38:11] I am.

[00:38:12] I am.

[00:38:13] Rust Cole.

[00:38:15] Time is a flat circle and I have a beer.

[00:38:19] Sorry.

[00:38:22] Smack.

[00:38:23] Watch that again.

[00:38:24] And then I watched this new season of true detective.

[00:38:28] It was really good.

[00:38:28] Nice.

[00:38:29] I need to,

[00:38:29] I need to watch the,

[00:38:31] it's not the same,

[00:38:32] but the bar was kind of lower.

[00:38:34] The first one is,

[00:38:35] it's not as great as that,

[00:38:37] but it's got some tie-ins and I liked it.

[00:38:39] It wasn't.

[00:38:40] A lot of people didn't like it,

[00:38:42] but I did.

[00:38:44] So megalomania.

[00:38:45] And it sounds like when it's triggered.

[00:38:49] So I guess we would leave that up to the GM.

[00:38:51] If I were going to house rule,

[00:38:53] when this type of thing was triggered offhand,

[00:38:56] I would just say it was procession.

[00:38:58] It could happen.

[00:38:59] Yeah.

[00:39:00] And,

[00:39:00] you know,

[00:39:02] maybe I'd probably just honestly,

[00:39:03] if I want to be a dick and you could see me,

[00:39:05] I'd just flip a coin every once in a while,

[00:39:07] flip it over and just kind of,

[00:39:08] you know,

[00:39:09] shake my head.

[00:39:09] No,

[00:39:10] shake my head.

[00:39:10] No,

[00:39:11] even if I don't even have it in my mind,

[00:39:13] I would just do that for the middle games.

[00:39:14] And then that one time I would actually see if it was a heads or tails kind of thing.

[00:39:19] And that's when it hits you.

[00:39:20] So have you ever done that?

[00:39:22] Like road eyes occasionally,

[00:39:23] even though you're not doing shit,

[00:39:24] you're just trying to make somebody anxious.

[00:39:26] Oh yeah.

[00:39:27] Yeah.

[00:39:28] It's something I should like,

[00:39:29] like my,

[00:39:30] my,

[00:39:30] my veteran players,

[00:39:32] like,

[00:39:32] like kind of helped me along as a GM.

[00:39:34] They've,

[00:39:34] they,

[00:39:35] they,

[00:39:35] they,

[00:39:35] they made that suggestion multiple times to make me like,

[00:39:38] to give me like,

[00:39:39] like,

[00:39:39] uh,

[00:39:39] give me that whole,

[00:39:41] like the,

[00:39:42] the sense of suspense.

[00:39:43] Yeah.

[00:39:44] It's a really good trick.

[00:39:46] I think it's time we've got this done,

[00:39:48] but let's go one step further.

[00:39:50] Cause I feel like we probably should.

[00:39:53] Now there are a ton of resources for this game out there.

[00:39:57] A lot of supplemental like books.

[00:39:59] I'm trying to think off the top of my head.

[00:40:01] There's actually a handler's guide.

[00:40:03] Yeah.

[00:40:04] There's a handler's guide.

[00:40:05] There's black sites,

[00:40:08] labyrinth night at the opera.

[00:40:11] Again,

[00:40:12] see,

[00:40:12] see Adam's comment earlier about how,

[00:40:14] if he dies,

[00:40:14] his wife will still be getting books from Delta green.

[00:40:18] I love your optimism.

[00:40:20] If he dies,

[00:40:23] I'm going to make it out of here alive guys.

[00:40:25] I'm a foo.

[00:40:26] So he's in the Bible,

[00:40:27] but there's,

[00:40:29] there's a lot of them and I have them all.

[00:40:33] I've almost to the point that I wanted to turn around.

[00:40:35] They've got resources on foundry and drive through RPG.

[00:40:42] I mean,

[00:40:42] sells them,

[00:40:43] but you could also get like row 20 supplemental stuff.

[00:40:46] There's that need to know,

[00:40:48] which is a quick start guide,

[00:40:49] which is free,

[00:40:49] which true story.

[00:40:51] I'm a school teacher.

[00:40:53] And one of my students,

[00:40:54] he was in super into D and D and D.

[00:40:56] And I've mentioned that there's other games out there.

[00:40:59] I have a little bit of experience with that.

[00:41:01] And I think about a week or two ago,

[00:41:04] I mentioned Delta green to him and gave him the link and he downloaded the quick

[00:41:08] start.

[00:41:09] Need to know God.

[00:41:09] And it's really kind of exciting to see a 17 year old reading through all this and planning

[00:41:16] their own game.

[00:41:17] And he raises ideas by me.

[00:41:19] And I'm like,

[00:41:20] Oh,

[00:41:20] you sweet summer child.

[00:41:22] Do this.

[00:41:23] Oh yeah.

[00:41:24] Do that.

[00:41:25] This,

[00:41:25] you'll be there,

[00:41:27] but you can,

[00:41:28] they,

[00:41:29] they,

[00:41:29] one of the handy things they have there's somewhere on the internet is a link of like

[00:41:32] 900 or a thousand like generated characters that you could just pull through at random.

[00:41:39] And I think it's an official thing or maybe it's like an unofficial official thing.

[00:41:44] Yeah.

[00:41:45] Oh,

[00:41:45] it's unofficial.

[00:41:46] Yeah.

[00:41:46] I think they may have shared it before.

[00:41:48] It's an official.

[00:41:49] I think,

[00:41:49] I think,

[00:41:50] I think they share it.

[00:41:50] Like the,

[00:41:51] the,

[00:41:51] the guys who,

[00:41:52] I think ArcDream and them have like links to it on their,

[00:41:54] in their,

[00:41:55] their,

[00:41:55] what is it?

[00:41:56] Probably on the ArcDream website.

[00:41:58] Resources,

[00:41:58] like resources section.

[00:42:00] One of the best purchases I've made was the,

[00:42:03] the Asian dossiers,

[00:42:05] which you can go through it and just pick out.

[00:42:08] I want to be a police officer.

[00:42:10] And the majority,

[00:42:12] you,

[00:42:12] you know,

[00:42:13] you've got a pre-made one that you just had to do a little bit of editing too.

[00:42:17] You do got to add your,

[00:42:19] 160 points extra found out in a game that I,

[00:42:22] that you ran for me that those weren't counted for.

[00:42:25] So what you're saying at it was this whole rollup not needed.

[00:42:29] Yeah.

[00:42:29] You should have just went to drive through and bought it,

[00:42:31] bought it and you've been done,

[00:42:32] but I've wasted an hour plus of your time.

[00:42:35] So let's waste a little bit more.

[00:42:37] Hey,

[00:42:38] let's look at,

[00:42:38] let's go shopping,

[00:42:39] shopping montage music.

[00:42:40] Go.

[00:42:41] Yeah.

[00:42:41] Every player's most,

[00:42:43] most players favorite part.

[00:42:45] And also most GM's dreaded part.

[00:42:50] Like I,

[00:42:50] I,

[00:42:51] I definitely don't care for this as a GM,

[00:42:54] but as a player,

[00:42:56] I do fall down the rabbit hole of,

[00:42:57] of liking to have new stuff.

[00:42:59] I think it's the whole,

[00:42:59] like,

[00:43:01] what is it?

[00:43:01] Uh,

[00:43:01] purchase therapy,

[00:43:02] like the,

[00:43:03] uh,

[00:43:04] like imaginary purchase therapy.

[00:43:08] If you listen to one list,

[00:43:10] uh,

[00:43:10] they have a,

[00:43:11] what was it?

[00:43:12] What was it?

[00:43:12] There is a,

[00:43:14] yeah.

[00:43:15] Our,

[00:43:15] our,

[00:43:15] uh,

[00:43:16] our Cthulhu D20,

[00:43:17] uh,

[00:43:18] M epic Delta green games,

[00:43:20] uh,

[00:43:20] uh,

[00:43:21] drift bone was the,

[00:43:22] uh,

[00:43:22] the play test we did.

[00:43:23] And yeah,

[00:43:24] my,

[00:43:24] my players spent about a half hour trying to figure out what car they were going to get from the,

[00:43:28] from the airport when they,

[00:43:30] when they arrived at the site.

[00:43:32] I,

[00:43:33] well,

[00:43:33] I do want to say that one of your players said,

[00:43:36] well,

[00:43:36] it may be the last car you ever get to drive.

[00:43:38] So like,

[00:43:38] it's gotta be a good one.

[00:43:39] So I think they settled on a Jeep gladiator,

[00:43:41] which I have my doubts because it's been so kind of,

[00:43:43] I don't know about them.

[00:43:45] The only thing I want to kind of mention as far as tools go,

[00:43:48] if those dossiers have like a list,

[00:43:50] if I'm not mistaken,

[00:43:53] of just some,

[00:43:54] you know,

[00:43:54] you would have like a nine millimeter or this,

[00:43:56] that,

[00:43:56] or other,

[00:43:57] just had the list of things that you could have.

[00:43:59] I'm looking on page 85.

[00:44:02] And the tools that are trade.

[00:44:04] And it gives me kind of a basic idea of what I would have myself.

[00:44:08] Okay.

[00:44:09] Yeah.

[00:44:09] So,

[00:44:10] you know,

[00:44:10] identification,

[00:44:11] bad medium pistol,

[00:44:13] like 40 cal,

[00:44:14] nine millimeter,

[00:44:14] something like that.

[00:44:15] I'd pick a nine millimeter.

[00:44:16] Cause well,

[00:44:17] you don't,

[00:44:18] you probably don't know this,

[00:44:19] but you can usually put more rounds in a magazine because of bullets are

[00:44:22] smaller.

[00:44:23] A belt pouch,

[00:44:24] tactical light,

[00:44:24] handcuffs,

[00:44:25] belt patches,

[00:44:26] a pouch that I mentioned,

[00:44:27] Kevlar vest,

[00:44:28] windbreaker,

[00:44:29] jacket printed with name of the agency,

[00:44:31] encrypted smartphone,

[00:44:32] police pan radio.

[00:44:33] Just,

[00:44:34] that's a lot of stuff that you can,

[00:44:35] that's a lot.

[00:44:36] It's a lot.

[00:44:37] Yeah.

[00:44:38] You want to hear what I chose while you were doing your,

[00:44:40] I didn't take all of it.

[00:44:41] I'm just saying I,

[00:44:42] it's there.

[00:44:43] Yeah.

[00:44:43] What did you pick Chris?

[00:44:44] I selected,

[00:44:45] but it's pretty succinct comparatively.

[00:44:47] Like,

[00:44:47] I mean,

[00:44:48] obviously like I'm assuming my character is gonna have clothes and shit.

[00:44:51] So I didn't bother with that,

[00:44:52] but like,

[00:44:52] I figured like my character is a paramedic stuff.

[00:44:54] So like individual first aid kit,

[00:44:57] a burner phone,

[00:44:58] a mag light,

[00:45:00] a buck knife,

[00:45:01] and a baseball bat.

[00:45:04] That's my gear.

[00:45:06] Air freshener in shape of a tree.

[00:45:08] Oh God.

[00:45:09] Yeah.

[00:45:09] Yeah.

[00:45:10] Raincoat.

[00:45:11] Cause you never know.

[00:45:13] Yeah.

[00:45:14] Honestly,

[00:45:14] a lot of these,

[00:45:15] a lot of these things is up to your GM.

[00:45:17] And if I've learned anything playing Delta green for seven years,

[00:45:21] it is that the gun don't matter.

[00:45:24] In fact,

[00:45:25] if it's,

[00:45:26] if you're,

[00:45:26] if your GM is letting you get away with a flamethrower or a rocket launcher at

[00:45:31] the,

[00:45:31] at the Delta green safe house,

[00:45:33] you're fucked.

[00:45:35] Yeah.

[00:45:35] Like,

[00:45:36] so you're basically just like,

[00:45:37] you might as well just embrace it because you're,

[00:45:39] you're going,

[00:45:39] you,

[00:45:40] if they're allowing you to have all these cool,

[00:45:42] gear and guns,

[00:45:44] none of it matters.

[00:45:46] And they're just,

[00:45:47] they're just giving you a shit eating grin the whole time.

[00:45:50] That's your red flag.

[00:45:52] Yeah.

[00:45:53] Oh,

[00:45:54] is there a healing point and a chest full of treasure before you,

[00:45:57] you go to this openness door?

[00:45:59] It's probably a boss.

[00:46:01] Exactly.

[00:46:02] But you can go through and I mean,

[00:46:05] I'm not going to go through right now and tell you what I picked out and

[00:46:08] things like that,

[00:46:09] but it gave me a lot of ideas of,

[00:46:11] and anything else.

[00:46:12] Just,

[00:46:12] you know,

[00:46:13] you can talk to your,

[00:46:14] your keeper about that,

[00:46:17] but I just find the whole system.

[00:46:20] They take a lot of the heavy lifting off by throwing a lot of these things out

[00:46:24] there from the,

[00:46:25] their rays from the pre-drive stats for certain classes.

[00:46:29] So all that,

[00:46:30] I just,

[00:46:30] this feels weird doing a roll up and it not being two and a half hours of us,

[00:46:34] right.

[00:46:34] Going through a book,

[00:46:35] you know what I mean?

[00:46:36] Yeah.

[00:46:37] and actually I should preface like this game or like our,

[00:46:39] our ramblings on this rollout have been,

[00:46:41] it's been pretty long,

[00:46:42] but that's really just because we're explaining it to,

[00:46:45] to an audience.

[00:46:46] Like this takes even shorter from what we're,

[00:46:49] what we've,

[00:46:49] how long it's taken us.

[00:46:50] So like,

[00:46:52] this is one of those,

[00:46:53] aside from like,

[00:46:55] like apocalypse world games that have like a playbook where it's just multiple

[00:46:58] choice,

[00:46:59] like selection.

[00:47:00] This is probably one of the quickest character creators I've ever experienced.

[00:47:04] It's certainly a far cry from any of the D20 games we've run or shadow run

[00:47:09] where you're doing your taxes.

[00:47:11] So,

[00:47:12] yeah.

[00:47:15] So I'll tell you all,

[00:47:16] before we head off here,

[00:47:18] uh,

[00:47:19] I am looking forward to one of these days,

[00:47:21] actually getting around one of the,

[00:47:22] I don't know if I'll do it or not,

[00:47:24] but I want to,

[00:47:25] there's an impossible landscapes campaign they got,

[00:47:27] which is the King in yellow.

[00:47:28] And that looks so good.

[00:47:29] And it's surreal horror.

[00:47:30] And that looks great.

[00:47:31] And I think it would be a lot of fun.

[00:47:32] Oh,

[00:47:33] it's going to be a meat grinder.

[00:47:34] We better get very familiar with this fucking book.

[00:47:36] Cause we're going to be,

[00:47:37] or body dossiers that I mentioned beforehand,

[00:47:40] because you're going to be going through it.

[00:47:41] But Caleb's a friend of the podcast and,

[00:47:44] you know,

[00:47:45] your former,

[00:47:46] your employer on occasion.

[00:47:48] Yeah.

[00:47:48] My freelance employer.

[00:47:49] Yeah.

[00:47:50] Yeah.

[00:47:51] Caleb Stokes.

[00:47:51] He,

[00:47:52] he just,

[00:47:52] it's past six months.

[00:47:54] His campaign God's teeth just came out.

[00:47:57] Oh gee.

[00:47:58] Oh God.

[00:47:59] Yeah.

[00:47:59] At least with,

[00:48:00] uh,

[00:48:01] with impossible landscapes,

[00:48:01] there's,

[00:48:02] there's terrible hope,

[00:48:05] uh,

[00:48:05] for the characters,

[00:48:07] God's teeth.

[00:48:07] Like just put the bullet in,

[00:48:09] in,

[00:48:09] in now,

[00:48:10] like at the,

[00:48:10] at the start of the session.

[00:48:13] It's a really good actual place on RPPR,

[00:48:15] real playing public radio's website.

[00:48:17] If you get an opportunity,

[00:48:18] if you want to hear it,

[00:48:19] I'm sure that there's,

[00:48:19] I haven't looked at the book because I'm actually secretly hoping somebody else runs the game for me.

[00:48:23] And I get to experience it myself instead of running it,

[00:48:26] but you can kind of give an idea of what the Delta green experience is.

[00:48:31] Yeah.

[00:48:31] There are so many different like scenarios,

[00:48:34] both official and unofficial.

[00:48:35] There's an entire contest that goes on every year called the shotgun,

[00:48:38] shotgun competition or the scenario contest where fans make very slim down,

[00:48:45] short,

[00:48:47] concise scenario ideas to,

[00:48:49] to throw up players.

[00:48:51] So,

[00:48:52] and those I believe are linked at on like arc dreams website,

[00:48:55] or even like through their resources and some of that,

[00:48:58] or like,

[00:48:58] if you just like look up like Delta green shotgun scenario on Google,

[00:49:02] you'll find there the website for it.

[00:49:05] I think it's the,

[00:49:05] I want,

[00:49:06] I want to say it's the fair,

[00:49:07] the Fairfield,

[00:49:07] uh,

[00:49:08] wiki or something like that.

[00:49:10] Yeah,

[00:49:10] I think it is.

[00:49:12] So honestly,

[00:49:13] if you get to,

[00:49:13] if you,

[00:49:14] if you're interested,

[00:49:14] if you haven't played beforehand,

[00:49:16] picking this up,

[00:49:16] there's tons of things that you just need this one book and you go to that

[00:49:19] website or there's adventures in the,

[00:49:23] I know need for no has one.

[00:49:26] Thank.

[00:49:26] I can't remember.

[00:49:27] Does,

[00:49:27] does the handler,

[00:49:28] does the player's guide have one?

[00:49:29] Cause I don't think it.

[00:49:30] Uh,

[00:49:31] what,

[00:49:32] what,

[00:49:32] what for a scenario?

[00:49:33] Yeah.

[00:49:33] Does her one in this book?

[00:49:35] There might be.

[00:49:35] Hang on.

[00:49:35] Let me pull up the,

[00:49:37] there is.

[00:49:39] No,

[00:49:39] it doesn't look like there is a scenario that comes with the,

[00:49:42] the player's hand or the,

[00:49:43] the agent's handbook.

[00:49:44] If you do get the,

[00:49:46] the handler's guide,

[00:49:47] it does have operation for a fulminate,

[00:49:49] which my favorite.

[00:49:51] Oh,

[00:49:51] I totally ran that for,

[00:49:52] I need to run it for RPPR.

[00:49:54] I mean,

[00:49:54] I'll read for them too,

[00:49:56] but RP access.

[00:49:57] Yeah.

[00:49:57] I need to run it for those guys.

[00:49:58] I had a lot of fun doing that game for you.

[00:50:00] And so it's quite the fun game.

[00:50:02] I still think you should have killed my character,

[00:50:04] but I won't hold that against you.

[00:50:06] I'm a fan of your sir.

[00:50:08] I understand.

[00:50:11] But I,

[00:50:12] much like you pay to win or you pay,

[00:50:14] you pay to play.

[00:50:14] I pay to die when it comes to Delta green.

[00:50:18] If,

[00:50:18] if it happens like,

[00:50:20] but yeah,

[00:50:21] don't let me mom.

[00:50:22] It's my player.

[00:50:27] Let me,

[00:50:27] I'll share one.

[00:50:29] Uh,

[00:50:29] God damn.

[00:50:29] I keep going on further with this,

[00:50:31] but it's on.

[00:50:33] I know.

[00:50:34] I think it's,

[00:50:35] I do have this one on the website here.

[00:50:37] I've ran lover in the ice,

[00:50:40] which is a Caleb Stokes scenario.

[00:50:43] I think his first,

[00:50:44] Aussie,

[00:50:45] his first Delta green scenario.

[00:50:46] The,

[00:50:47] uh,

[00:50:47] one of my favorite things I've,

[00:50:48] I've done as a GM,

[00:50:51] which running that game,

[00:50:52] which I had some good ones for you as well.

[00:50:54] So I,

[00:50:55] this game's really near and dear to my heart,

[00:50:56] but there was like an NPC in this game.

[00:50:59] That was not related to the conspiracy and everything whatsoever.

[00:51:04] And the players that I was running this for decided that he knew too much

[00:51:08] and killed him.

[00:51:10] The,

[00:51:10] like the deputy or the sheriff or something like that.

[00:51:13] And,

[00:51:13] and lover in the ice.

[00:51:15] And I remember in the middle of playing it,

[00:51:18] I message Caleb.

[00:51:20] It's like,

[00:51:21] they just kept running,

[00:51:22] you know,

[00:51:22] lever and I say,

[00:51:23] just killed him.

[00:51:23] He's like,

[00:51:24] Oh my God,

[00:51:24] that's great.

[00:51:25] He's not even involved or something like that.

[00:51:27] It's just,

[00:51:28] I have it somewhere.

[00:51:29] I don't know if you're a screen cap of that,

[00:51:31] but it was good.

[00:51:32] Do you have a favorite TC moment before we leave?

[00:51:37] Player or GM?

[00:51:38] I want to say,

[00:51:40] honestly,

[00:51:40] as a,

[00:51:41] as a,

[00:51:41] as a GM,

[00:51:43] yeah,

[00:51:44] I,

[00:51:44] I don't have a whole lot on like GM wise.

[00:51:46] I'm like even player wise.

[00:51:47] I,

[00:51:47] I,

[00:51:48] I listened to a lot of actual plays,

[00:51:49] but I don't have a lot of experience with Delta green aside from like,

[00:51:53] maybe a handful of games.

[00:51:55] I want to say as a player,

[00:51:57] you for,

[00:51:58] for the operation fulminate for,

[00:52:00] for one less die.

[00:52:02] The,

[00:52:03] the,

[00:52:03] the moment where the character,

[00:52:06] the one of the,

[00:52:06] the,

[00:52:07] the,

[00:52:07] the child started,

[00:52:08] started singing a,

[00:52:09] like a,

[00:52:10] a rain,

[00:52:11] like a song about the Sesame street theme song.

[00:52:14] Yeah.

[00:52:14] The Sesame street song.

[00:52:15] And you recorded your daughter singing the song and there was rain play,

[00:52:21] like rain in the background as there was rain in the game.

[00:52:25] That was,

[00:52:26] that was awesome.

[00:52:27] Done with that.

[00:52:28] I worked too long on that,

[00:52:30] that excerpt,

[00:52:31] but I'm glad you enjoyed that.

[00:52:32] And thank you.

[00:52:33] Yeah.

[00:52:34] Yeah.

[00:52:34] As a GM,

[00:52:35] I think like it,

[00:52:36] there are things,

[00:52:37] but it's just like,

[00:52:37] I can't like really think of anything at the moment,

[00:52:40] but as a player,

[00:52:40] I think that was like one of the,

[00:52:42] the best parts of like,

[00:52:43] cause that it's just such a good scenario.

[00:52:46] And you played it really well with the lost in the woods,

[00:52:50] like park ranger kind of,

[00:52:52] kind of horror that like both you and I love.

[00:52:54] So yeah.

[00:52:55] Yeah.

[00:52:56] I'm,

[00:52:56] I'm honored.

[00:52:57] I didn't,

[00:52:58] I wasn't fishing for compliments,

[00:52:59] but I got,

[00:52:59] I'm not going to,

[00:53:00] that one's too good to throw back.

[00:53:02] There is one as a GM that comes to mind.

[00:53:05] And it's from one of your players on RPX,

[00:53:07] Ian,

[00:53:09] sweet,

[00:53:10] sweet Ian.

[00:53:13] There was a,

[00:53:14] it was a,

[00:53:14] it was a game set in a cave run Lake in Kentucky.

[00:53:18] And there was a submersible on the beach.

[00:53:21] And I think something about like a deep one was inside,

[00:53:26] like,

[00:53:26] and then he ended up like getting the,

[00:53:28] a deep one inside the,

[00:53:30] the submersible through in a grenade and held on to the,

[00:53:35] and closed the lid.

[00:53:36] And then the,

[00:53:37] the sub exploded and he got launched into the lake.

[00:53:41] And somehow survived.

[00:53:46] That's,

[00:53:46] that's definitely a highlight.

[00:53:48] Like by all accounts,

[00:53:50] Ian's character should have died,

[00:53:52] but we rolled it.

[00:53:53] We,

[00:53:53] the damage and stuff like that.

[00:53:54] And he survived.

[00:53:56] I think that I'm definitely going to,

[00:53:58] I'll include links to your site there so they can check out these games.

[00:54:02] It's well,

[00:54:02] I think RP,

[00:54:04] I think that one's an RPX game,

[00:54:05] isn't it?

[00:54:06] I know that operation fulminate is,

[00:54:08] and I can't remember the other.

[00:54:09] We have 200 plus episodes.

[00:54:11] That's good.

[00:54:11] I've been,

[00:54:12] I'm starting to,

[00:54:13] the line blurs.

[00:54:14] Like I'm,

[00:54:15] I'm fairly certain.

[00:54:17] Fulminate's on,

[00:54:18] on one less die.

[00:54:18] I think,

[00:54:19] I think I can't remember what I named that one,

[00:54:21] but yeah,

[00:54:21] the,

[00:54:22] the operation on cave run,

[00:54:23] like I think was one that we did for your podcast.

[00:54:26] Okay.

[00:54:26] I don't look,

[00:54:27] I've got tags.

[00:54:28] It's on the website.

[00:54:30] I'm just too lazy to go there.

[00:54:31] See the link in the description below.

[00:54:34] Yeah,

[00:54:34] indeed.

[00:54:35] Well,

[00:54:36] thank you so much,

[00:54:37] man.

[00:54:37] It's been fun to revisit a game that is near and dear to our hearts.

[00:54:41] And I had a lot of fun creating Randall Atkins.

[00:54:47] Yeah.

[00:54:47] I had fun making a Adam Barrett.

[00:54:52] I didn't say Randall.

[00:54:54] Randall Atkins is his brother.

[00:54:56] Fuck.

[00:54:57] Yeah.

[00:54:58] Yeah.

[00:54:58] Wasn't it Gerald?

[00:54:59] Yeah.

[00:55:00] Yeah.

[00:55:01] Sorry.

[00:55:02] God.

[00:55:03] Anyway,

[00:55:03] get a little slap happy here.

[00:55:05] Where can we find you?

[00:55:06] We've mentioned one last time.

[00:55:08] Where can we find these games we spoke of and others?

[00:55:11] Well,

[00:55:12] one last die is my actual play podcast.

[00:55:15] You can check it out pod bean or any,

[00:55:17] really any podcast streaming service or platform.

[00:55:21] And yeah,

[00:55:22] we have a host of games.

[00:55:24] Some,

[00:55:24] some Delta green,

[00:55:25] a lot of D 20 games,

[00:55:27] like call of Cthulhu D 20.

[00:55:28] Cause that was the Cthulhu game.

[00:55:30] I got my,

[00:55:30] my friends.

[00:55:31] I was able to like wrangle them into play early on.

[00:55:35] And then since then we've done a bunch of other games like monster of the week,

[00:55:39] shadow run Vossen.

[00:55:41] Yeah.

[00:55:41] Just a slew,

[00:55:42] basically a decade of,

[00:55:44] of games that I've recorded.

[00:55:46] And I'm now just getting around to editing and,

[00:55:49] and posting online to for,

[00:55:52] for posterity,

[00:55:53] if nothing else,

[00:55:53] just like the save the memories of my,

[00:55:56] uh,

[00:55:56] my GMing career.

[00:55:58] So,

[00:55:58] and when I'm not running games for my buddies or not hanging out with Adam and RPX,

[00:56:03] I run a podcast called Al Dente Rigamortis,

[00:56:07] where I take on the guys of the review cultist and me and two other friends read and review creepypastas on the weekly basis.

[00:56:17] So you can check out Al Dente Rigamortis and one less die at any podcast platform of your.

[00:56:22] Awesome.

[00:56:23] And thank you so much again.

[00:56:24] And for those of you tuning in,

[00:56:26] this is a roll up.

[00:57:10] rollpointexchange.com.
