[00:01:03] Hi, and welcome to One Less Die, a D&D actual play podcast. We're currently playing our Eberron campaign, Ashats Adventurers or the Assets. So before we kick off the potentially the end of the Shadows of the Last War adventure that we've been playing for the last few sessions.

[00:01:25] Potentially the end of the game for hours? No. Potentially a high end. I will want to come back to Eberron. We're just going on a high end. It's not you, it's me. I know it's not me. I'm a fucking delight.

[00:01:46] But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's start with character introduction. Character introduction? Yeah, you both did. Oh shit, a lot of things happened this last episode. Character introduction is starting on my left. Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm apparently not Chris's friend anymore. Wow. What? Ouch. What?

[00:02:10] I said you killed all our characters. That was a joke. Well, it's always our friendship apparently. Wow. And I'm a fit and hilarious. I am a war it in. That was a war it in. Or was there a second? How many of them? Third?

[00:02:34] How often do I pronounce it the same thing? That's true. It's like scorching ray. At least I haven't given this one any titles yet. Oh god. Yeah, mean keyword. Yeah. I am a warden, which is a warlock, talented. Perfect skills and magic. And I'm not a wizard.

[00:03:01] Much to your annoyance probably. Oh you're enjoying this character so much. I am enjoying this character. I mean it's not like I don't have spells. Yeah. You have a very powerful spell when you combine them and stack them.

[00:03:17] Yeah, you're way more of a glass cannon than I am. Your character also goes by aliens. Actually punchy a pong pong. It's not even a glass cannon because you take more damage and do more damage than me. And have harder to hit. Yeah.

[00:03:32] You are in fact an iron cannon. And then I'm often dressed to look very much like Zoro. Yes. Are you blue Zoro? Yeah. Dark navy blue Zoro. And on his left. That's me, yeah. I'm Dave and I'm playing Copper who is a warforged artificer,

[00:04:03] Battle Smith wizard which is shortened down to an artificer currently. He's an artificer, Battle Smith. He's not an artificer. I haven't gotten enough wizard ranks to have like the extra title of wizard yet. A wizard. Yeah. A bazzard. But anyway that's it.

[00:04:24] It's called Copper because the metal on him is copper construction. He has a blue eye and a red eye. Yeah. Okay. Trench coat and he has a steel defender named Rob who I always remember is there. Of course. Yeah.

[00:04:39] When you sent me the description for your characters I could draw it. You like add like all his all like clothing like the chainmail and like the duster or like in woven with his like wooden parts.

[00:04:50] So I'm going to need like a better like other explanation or like you're going to have to draw roughly what that looks like so I can draw it. Well just I do not I was like I was trying to visualize that as like I'm going to

[00:05:00] get that wrong. I'm not going to bother doing it. We talked about this before. The warforged integrate their stuff onto their bodies and the way that I took that is the wood of him grows through the clothes that he's wearing.

[00:05:13] So like with the chainmail it's like we're in a freaking a fence basically and the wood just kind of goes around and hooks into it and it's like weaves through it with that and then with the shirt it's just like poked through it and hooked

[00:05:26] in you know in certain parts. Okay so like okay so there's bits poking out. Yeah that like hook and go back in you know so it can't be taken off. Okay. All right fair.

[00:05:39] All right so yeah we are down a one of our players kind of becoming a regular theme for this this campaign. Oh he's like he just something got into a coma over into the into the bag of holding that's why we have the bag of holding.

[00:05:55] Yeah only he can't breathe in there. Well I'm gonna say for this since he's probably going to be in a shot while you guys if you guys go back or do your stuff. Speaking of they did it those beautiful bastards they finally made it to White

[00:06:10] Heart facility they came they saw some of it and even met some friends along the way now back in a shot they need to decide do they return to complete the dungeon crawl or do they relieve their would be ride back in the

[00:06:26] cornlands since they technically have the schema that Lady Eladron wants and simply go meet up with her decisions decisions decisions. So yeah I realized like between games you guys technically don't need to go back to the bunker unless you want to like go back there to like finish

[00:06:47] it like basically completionist it or maybe even talk to fail like tell fail and hey we got we got our stuff we can go back to root calm draw root calm drawl and meet up with Lady Eladron because that's where you're

[00:07:01] supposed to meet up with Lady Eladron once you guys got the the schema from the White Heart facility which you guys found along with for as as copper is finally coming to you find yourself on the ground

[00:07:18] back in a shot with your stuff and like as the rest of the gang is kind of around you what's the last thing I remember last thing you remember you were walking away from the from the carcass of the carcass crab for the carcass crab carcass yes

[00:07:35] and this is name also carcass yes okay those names crap so carcass crab thanks and then you just like blacked out you're like there's like some kind of a short like a short circuit or something and you just like blacked out you don't

[00:07:51] remember what happened after that and then you then you came to and now you're in a shot like did they finish the mission they fish the quest okay kind of thing like that's that's kind of what go with your head there's like laying on

[00:08:02] the floor well not on the floor you're on the ground like and they're they're currently like pulling they're letting out like some they're like I'm gonna say Fintan is there with next to a Abala and your elf friend and Fintan

[00:08:20] has the bag of holding and he's like trying to like get a wolf out of it and you look around there's a bunch of wolves running around chasing the the prospector rabbit guy gnarly gnarl and a shot is there smoke on their

[00:08:38] smoke kind of trailing off from a shot and is that that cemetery wasn't built wasn't installed before you guys left why would we need a cemetery already Mama Abby is the first to notice that copper is coming too it's like what the

[00:08:51] hell is happening it's first thing I'm saying are you okay there's some confused what's going on well we she looks to show us the Fintan is like what happened to him he was he seemed like did he did something happen in a fight or

[00:09:11] something where war forge coma apparently it's a thing oh okay it's not a thing it's never happened to me before that I can't remember any ways yeah add some weird oil at one time and I don't remember much you woke up

[00:09:24] where's Rob Rob's Rob's right next to you okay good actually Rob is with the other wolves chasing gnarly gnarl playfully or they play for it's playful okay that's fine actually there's a dire wolf also right next to the group and

[00:09:41] walks over to it's like ah so this is your friend and I don't know if it's talking yes da I am talking to you okay metal man hello my name is Rob my name is Russia of course it is hi I'm copper I'm confused more shake paw she

[00:10:02] like yeah I also get very confused by her I don't understand why she looks like a picture of my parents fighting what I'm confused for shack oh okay nice nice nice yes I was in white heart facility and your friends say saved me in my pack

[00:10:23] from a life of so that we made it to white hearth yeah did I help I don't was I doing anything now you made it so we had to carry a lot less stuff cool let's

[00:10:43] like less loot basically less yeah okay great let's let's profit I love that so no no no as you hand me a list of profits yeah list of inventory mm-hmm yes that's the inventory that we took okay I just you're the one who had the bag of holding

[00:11:06] that's fair so you know so I should know that this is in there otherwise I can't pull it out well I think I'm wearing some of it that's yeah mama Abbey then it's like as to your other question what's happening around here we were attacked dear while

[00:11:26] you guys were away luckily Fin tan or either Fin ten or yourself sent us a message a couple of days ago warning us about the the blade or the lord of blades yes man is put up an appetite like threat so we I was able to contact

[00:11:43] some of the elves at griffin hold to help us fight away like fight back against the invading raid party that came out of the mourn ones but we lost some people how many just look up the deceased citizens list well we lost cobble pot

[00:12:06] Jim steel axle mint ruby brass tacks most of those were warforges I could tell that one of them one of them was a was a human from seer one of our townsfolk from one of our original townsfolk that we were like helping us set the head up

[00:12:26] set up the town we also lost that new girl Sarah von Tatterman okay David she's the one that she's the one that you did it was the warforges helped us a great deal even though the the blade raiders were going after the

[00:12:47] us fleshy people the the warforges kind of stepped up and helped defend us against them so that's what we remain today though which just wish it didn't have to end as bloody as it did fortunately my my friends over in griffin hold were able

[00:13:04] to bring a contingent to scare the scare the remaining raiders back into the mists how the students of griffin door yeah no griffin hold completely different place they're gonna be back so we're gonna have to so yeah we now have a

[00:13:22] well I now we have an inaugural city cemetery looks over to the the newly erected like fencing for a for a plot that's going to be designated for the town cemetery one big head no it's actually it's actually like rows of

[00:13:38] of not tombstones but like of stakes basically yeah or whatever the equivalent symbol would be for like great they're hungry what you said steak so yeah you got that's what you find out you find that a shot was it was a

[00:13:56] tackle you guys are gone but luckily they were able to hold off most of it and with some casualties but not all of them the other thing I think is some casualties but not all of them you still have 25 people 25 population

[00:14:13] six six morphine include the cobalt hatchlings that are going to be hatching at some point because babies will be good to defend yeah but yeah so yeah here's the thing I yeah so you guys could go back to like because he still has a charge on his teleportation

[00:14:35] the stars I currently have okay but if you're interested in any of it let me know so yeah you guys could teleport back to the bunker because you still have a charge on that on that crown and you could if you want to get see what

[00:14:50] else is it was in the bunker or in the in the facility you could go around there you could teleport back to Finn of Phelan who's outside and like basically hit your get because you have the schema right right from fail because you have

[00:15:07] the schema and the the pattern or the construction pattern the excuse me the creation pattern you have the creation pattern so that lady a lady and one of you guys to receive a retreat from White Heart facility so you

[00:15:29] guys could basically make the trip back to Rukon draw which is where she's going to meet you according to the letter you guys got or you could say fuck you failing I'm not paying you that the extra money and just never and just

[00:15:40] trying to avoid failing if he survives and go straight to Rukon draw with your teleportation charge I mean failing what wasn't being a dick no he did oh he did he did raise his

[00:15:55] price because you guys were wanting him to go into the Mormons and stuff so yeah that's fine that's acceptable mm-hmm yeah I don't think we need to screw him over no okay because he could be waiting there forever and get attacked to kill just

[00:16:12] because he's waiting nicely for us okay I think you would estimate how cowardly he is sure cowardice has nothing to do with it yeah like you do he could just be waiting a normal amount of time and he gets

[00:16:26] jumped yeah so what is the what is the decision you're going to teleport into the White Heart facility or you're gonna teleport to failing or teleport to Rukon draw or other so he's not close to the facility he's on the

[00:16:44] service the he Fintan tells you that the facility is actually an underground bunker of a research facility yeah but he's on the top floor of it he's on the service it was a mine shaft that you guys like the entrance is it was in a

[00:16:59] mine shaft was enough loot there that it's worth going back directly they are looting and then they were told that there was a hungry fire in one of the the quarters they didn't check there was also a couple of other corridors you guys

[00:17:13] did they didn't check that the wolves did not know about the wolves are actually from one of the wings of the facility they were they were all talking rules or just the one just the dial the rest of them are just regular wolves but

[00:17:27] during the and they were released from there yeah but five years ago Rorschub suddenly gained sentience while all the researchers died suddenly I need the morning's happened or the morning happened and so as part of possibly some

[00:17:42] some some but it's it's a fleshy wolf right yeah wouldn't it have been killed by apparently it doesn't it doesn't affect it affects the apparently the magic so the arcane storm of the morning affects things differently like there

[00:18:00] you do know that like it doesn't affect it didn't kill everybody in the morning it also turned a bunch of people into mutants and horrible month months okay I thought I just killed all the game no no but that was with a lucky

[00:18:12] once okay fair enough yeah but yeah Rorschub was also just a regular as far as you can tell she was a regular wolf before the morning before this thing happened and then suddenly she became self-aware and sentient so okay

[00:18:26] Aaron you can fall asleep on us again no do you need coffee maybe that kind of sounds like you're playing a little bit sleep if you need to especially since you're also lying down on the couch like you're about to fall asleep I

[00:18:39] didn't fall in the sleep just sitting there anyway okay and that would just be weird because I'd sleep with my eyes open that is kind of weird or Gandalf but he's trying to be a war for us yeah what yeah so that's that's what she

[00:18:54] explained to you okay because it sounds like we could just go back and loot more and then just leave by going can we go back the facility has like contract has like a mechanism that allows you to go back the way it came yeah I

[00:19:12] would like to take a short rest before we do okay so they're like six hours seven hours short rest what's a short rest I can't remember an hour an hour yeah okay a long rest is is an extended rest gotcha okay so you say I'm just

[00:19:27] asking whether or not it's worth doing and like I don't know the danger of the area outside should we get back to him ASAP like you have a lot more context in this you should be making the decision not me well but I've already been there

[00:19:40] you haven't got to explore yet so really yeah but that's not I'm not I don't I don't need this spelunk you know like if we've done the mission and we're gonna get paid great that's where our our bang is the mission done if we

[00:19:53] haven't been in every room yes okay I guess we're done I mean that then but wouldn't bother me is the question you guys could always go back that is the question will it bother you like you guys know where the site is

[00:20:10] Fin 10 has the key all the key all these multi-color key charms that you need to get into the facility I mean we do have less people to feed in town not that they're less people yeah true because we're pretty

[00:20:27] still need this is secretly an evil party it is I just don't think it's worth it okay we can just get her out of here all right because the worst thing is worst case scenario is we do all that looting take our time doing that we

[00:20:51] get back up to Fin 10 he's dead be sure is how are you gonna be dead failing sorry yes me yeah you are I'm a carpenter all right so I don't want to death potentially on my conscience so you guys going to teleport over to failing

[00:21:12] yes okay so how does that how does that tell her to work does it can you teleport to a person or do you have to tell her to a place that you've already been to is it night crawler situation where you just have to remember remember the

[00:21:23] place I do have to remember the place it has but I don't have to remember the place I can go by rough description but the chances of failure are greater if I haven't been there before okay well you kind of know the you you basically

[00:21:42] recall the the rough area around the the hills where the mine shaft was located so you can either teleport directly in front of the mine shaft and that will give you guys a solid spot where to go or where to look around for

[00:21:56] failing failing or you can teleport somewhere in and around that area I'm gonna go with at the mouth of the vine because I know what that looks like I remember distinctly so it will be much easier to teleport there okay yeah so

[00:22:16] yeah so yeah you hold you grab I'm gonna say Kirk or Kirk Gilles he's gonna stick around and have a chat with mama Abby about about a shot from Kirk Gilles Kirk Gilles is his met merits character the elf oh yeah okay he's just gonna

[00:22:33] hang out there for a little bit and if you guys until next session so ask him to keep an eye out for more attacks he's like yeah yeah cool guys I'm gonna I'm gonna start setting up some some some some siege ditches and stuff with that

[00:22:49] you guys should have been way more defense defensible than this he was at the last session he was like kind of like bitching about how you like defenseless weren't the first priority here no so because we weren't like threatened until

[00:23:02] the adventure yeah yeah because you didn't piss off a ward lord I mean yeah to be fair the Lord of Blaze is gonna be pissed off regardless yeah you can see some more lord it's in the story mm-hmm yeah it's also in nature not that all war

[00:23:19] forges are war mongering but like he specifically was a very warmongering war forks anyway so yeah you teleport to the to the front of the mine and yeah roll me I guess I don't I guess what's your personal perceptions well 12

[00:23:50] apparently 13 I believe we're gonna look up if I did that wrong or not last time and we never did 13 and Finthans is 12 all right okay well as you guys teleport in front of this mine shaft for air for Dave and I copper I will give you a

[00:24:17] kind of description of the area you're in right now at the base of a low hill a timbered opening leads into a darker tunnel at first glance it looks like any other abandoned mine shaft then with a more careful inspection of the

[00:24:32] opening you spot the house Kenneth seal emblazoned on the center crossbeam so so basically it's a you're in like a set of hills in this kind of like blasted wasteland and there's a clear mine shaft or like a like a mine tunnel and through

[00:24:54] the mine tunnels where that's where it was yeah yeah yeah yeah as you guys teleport in I'm gonna say it's a little bit darker because it's a little bit later in the day at this point does the Sun get through the no it's according to

[00:25:12] this lighting is like during the day the morlands is bathed in perpetual twilight or the darkness of cloud covered night so that's either dark or really dark yes yeah it's either gloomy or dark and the exit area is quite safe for you guys

[00:25:32] kind of you guys hear fun kind of like thunderous clacking sounds approaching you guys as you hear a unfortunately very familiar voice well done adventures calls a voice you recognize as that vampire from Rose Quarry figures

[00:25:57] appear from out of the from over a hill as as you see six emerald emerald claw soldiers armed with crossbows and those four minotaur skeletons with about with with great access and a female necromancer the vampire that you saw in

[00:26:21] Rose Quarry is nowhere to be seen but you can hear his voice nonetheless I was gonna say it that that's him it is futile to fight us is speaking as him no he's he's just like it's in the air yeah I didn't know if he was like popping

[00:26:36] he appears to be throwing his voice the vampire says give me the third schema and I will let you live that pose us and I will take it from your corpses and then raise your bodies to serve me yeah

[00:26:57] ambush kind of you guys saw it coming bam we got hurt a couple but yeah it appears the vampire from Rose Quarry and his emerald claw mooks want the third schema is that the one you want to roll an insight is up the thing that we

[00:27:23] just got rolling can I I wasn't awake insight at this event because I imagine they would have told you like in the interim like what you got when you got much more insight five no I okay so I'm confused 17 yeah um you guys so you

[00:28:06] guys found the third schema and the first scheme so maybe the emerald claw also have a schema oh I see because they have a second one yeah excuse me so yeah you guys also know Fintan you also know that you guys have a copy of the

[00:28:32] schema and the original so you guys did find two two copies of the same schema in that crystal chest in the in the facility so you could give him a schema and then go to Livia later and give her give her the schema to is this a dragon

[00:28:51] ball situation where he needs all of them um you know I mean it's it's they're hunting these schema so like maybe they are trying to collect the schema as well like for the same kind of purpose or for something worse you don't you also

[00:29:06] know what these schema are going to build exactly um so yeah if there's no advantage to us having two I wish I had some sort of like a remote detonate spell I could put on a schema and hand it to him it's described explosive runes on

[00:29:30] yeah really like on the back of the wait what does this I prepared the explode nope surprise cock ah get on my balls yeah they have six six like there's six dudes with crossbows all point at you guys and there's four

[00:29:55] fucking minotaur skeletons and a necromancer girl great all just out there like with you guys not cool don't appreciate it okay so yeah again I can't trap this so I can't do some sneaky thing to give it to him and also not give

[00:31:10] mine tunnels and like in among the hills and like they're on a hill above like near you guys within plain sight of you okay okay okay well then that's that way yeah yeah fuck him we're not doing this magic me so you're just gonna attack

[00:31:38] one of the guys a lot of guys at once probably simultaneously I would think can you actually tell like yeah it's um was it an extra right here right in front of my face okay so the initiatives are getting ready for the third for each

[00:31:57] slot level above the first then there's how many guys there's six emerald guard and four mentors right so if I use this at level two it's only shooting up to no it fires three men okay but only gives one extra per per one hire that doesn't

[00:32:17] seem like a huge boost to be honest it's not supposed to be yeah I'll do it anyways just for the hell of it so yeah I'm gonna say you guys aren't stopping us you're not getting this get out of my fucking way boom then I point out with

[00:32:34] my war hammer and four magic missile bolts hopefully come out depending on how I roll yeah well no it just works right is it range touch attack or range it just hits oh cool okay if they're not dodgeable over it because the only thing

[00:32:53] that can dodge is that like one spell shield yeah so unless I need them have shield they all get hit by this okay and it is 1d4 plus one force damage to its

[00:33:04] target do I roll that for each hit or is it does everyone take the same you roll it for each one each one okay release I usually okay and just gonna get the skeletons out and the enemies

[00:33:19] God I wish this book had ribbons you can make those could effort you know we sound well effort 4 4 3 3 distribute them as you want I probably aim them at the well there's you know there's a necromancer there's definitely a lady there up there that

[00:33:48] looks like a major like something like necromancer major some kind so like she might be pretty bored oh then they all go to her if there's a caster I'm geeking the man okay yeah yeah alright I forgot about that that's a 14 damage

[00:34:34] else and stuff oh okay you guys got the like no bang you have it no and okay so she takes it but is still up like she's like and then you hear over the winds kill them as and then uh yeah they start they're

[00:34:58] going to start firing so initially voice this is gonna be fun by fun I mean terrifying fun fun fun the initiative I always roll poorly on the initiative Aaron is sleeping you know damn it Aaron he's not though you did offer coffee yeah we'll do in a second
