In this episode of RPX Rollup, we're rolling up characters for Free League Publishing's Mutant Year Zero. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, players take the role of, you guessed it, mutants struggling to survive in the wasteland known as "The Zone." Centered around the Ark, one of the last remaining settlements in the wasteland, Mutant Year Zero challenges players to explore the ruins of civilization, manage scarce resources, and develop their unique mutations while uncovering the mysteries of their origins and fighting for survival.

00:00:15 --> 00:00:20 Hello, welcome to the Roll Plane Exchange. It's time for us to do another roll-up.
00:00:20 --> 00:00:25 So, I'm joined here by my good friend, Chris, a crazon-reviewed cultist,
00:00:25 --> 00:00:29 a man of many names from what great podcasts on the Crit in the Night Network are you from?
00:00:30 --> 00:00:35 Hi, welcome to One Less Die and Al Dente Rigamortis.
00:00:36 --> 00:00:40 And today i've dragged you over here to look
00:00:40 --> 00:00:42 at a game that we both kind of kind of interested in for a while
00:00:42 --> 00:00:48 since we fell down a free league hole several years ago and we're going to be
00:00:48 --> 00:00:54 looking at mutant year zero now i know i well i knew absolutely nothing about
00:00:54 --> 00:00:57 it before we get too much further though i want to kind of mention that this
00:00:57 --> 00:01:01 again it's a free league game and the,
00:01:01 --> 00:01:09 lead and project designer on this is Tomas Heronstam, which I believe is a nice
00:01:09 --> 00:01:12 gentleman I met at Gen Con that Ross Payton interviewed for RPPR.
00:01:13 --> 00:01:16 If that's not you, I'm sorry, Tomas, but I think that's him.
00:01:16 --> 00:01:18 If you're listening. Yeah, if you're listening.
00:01:19 --> 00:01:23 We appreciate this. And yeah, we're going to be looking at Mutant Year Zero.
00:01:23 --> 00:01:28 Now, Chris, was there video games with this beforehand? Where did the property begin?
00:01:28 --> 00:01:31 So, I recall this like i kind of got into it from
00:01:31 --> 00:01:34 the the computer the video game that came out a while
00:01:34 --> 00:01:37 back uh it's like mutant year zero road
00:01:37 --> 00:01:40 to eden i think was the was the video game it was like
00:01:40 --> 00:01:43 a turn-based kind of like a turn-based rpg
00:01:43 --> 00:01:46 where you're like going through like the wasteland and stuff like scavenging and
00:01:46 --> 00:01:51 then also like dealing with like enemy threats and stuff very much like the
00:01:51 --> 00:01:56 old school like kind of like fallout or wasteland but the series actually got
00:01:56 --> 00:02:05 its its origins back in 1984 with the the swedish rpg by target games at the time known as mutant.
00:02:06 --> 00:02:09 And then from mutant it switched
00:02:09 --> 00:02:12 to new mutant or like there was a new new version of it that came out called
00:02:12 --> 00:02:18 new mutant in 1989 and then 1992 we got mutant r y md which kind of saw it going
00:02:18 --> 00:02:24 into like mutants in space and from there we got mutant chronicles which was
00:02:24 --> 00:02:26 kind of like Sort of like,
00:02:26 --> 00:02:29 from what I recall of it, it's sort of like a Red Alert,
00:02:29 --> 00:02:33 like Command and Conquer kind of universe.
00:02:34 --> 00:02:38 Like, it's an alternate history where, like, there's different factions,
00:02:38 --> 00:02:40 like, based off of, like, kind of...
00:02:41 --> 00:02:45 Broad strokes like wartime people
00:02:45 --> 00:02:48 like you got like the americans like like the american stuff or
00:02:48 --> 00:02:51 like the state and then there's like the empire of britain
00:02:51 --> 00:02:55 and then there's like i'm sure there's a german one somewhere in there and then
00:02:55 --> 00:02:59 there's like the the japanese empire and they're very like broad strokes like
00:02:59 --> 00:03:03 those kind of like old like alternate history war game kind of style thing there
00:03:03 --> 00:03:08 and then eventually it went down into into the 2000s with with mutant year zero.
00:03:10 --> 00:03:14 Which eventually as these games started coming out they went from Target Games
00:03:14 --> 00:03:20 to eventually Cabinet Entertainment and then Free League and Modiphius got the
00:03:20 --> 00:03:24 rights for Swedish and English versions and stuff like that to adapt them and
00:03:24 --> 00:03:29 such and that's where we got Mutant Year Zero was through Free League which is sort of a,
00:03:30 --> 00:03:35 it's basically a it's closer to the apocalypse than some of the older games,
00:03:36 --> 00:03:43 it's a little more like the like near post apocalypse than some of the other ones.
00:03:43 --> 00:03:50 So you got like, basically it's a very fallouty, very Mad Max kind of, kind of world.
00:03:50 --> 00:03:54 And it's set in Sweden or like around Scandinavia.
00:03:55 --> 00:04:00 And you got mutants that are in the zone, which is like the locations of like
00:04:00 --> 00:04:04 the weird supernatal or the weird, like apocalyptic regions and such. Yeah.
00:04:05 --> 00:04:11 So. Yeah. So it's pretty much post apocalyptic of civilizations collapse due
00:04:11 --> 00:04:16 to a series of cataclysmic kind of events. I think some of them were.
00:04:17 --> 00:04:21 If you're a fan of gamma world like the the classic og
00:04:21 --> 00:04:24 science fantasy post-apocalyptic rpg it's
00:04:24 --> 00:04:29 it was heavily inspired by that in fact it looks like like it was originally
00:04:29 --> 00:04:33 the original mutant game was like a campaign setting that was made for the gamma
00:04:33 --> 00:04:36 world and then they just kind of they decided to build off of that so you got
00:04:36 --> 00:04:42 like pure strain humans robots and mutants though most people are mutants rather
00:04:42 --> 00:04:43 than pure strained humans.
00:04:45 --> 00:04:48 And yeah, you're going to take the role of look like mutants,
00:04:48 --> 00:04:50 survivors with strange powers.
00:04:50 --> 00:04:54 There's kind of a mutation table that I'm looking forward to rolling on here.
00:04:55 --> 00:04:57 And yeah, we just endure a.
00:04:59 --> 00:05:04 Horrible post-apocalyptic environment. And while the game is set in Sweden,
00:05:04 --> 00:05:08 whenever I run it, I think the most apocalyptic place I could put it would be Ohio.
00:05:09 --> 00:05:10 Dread Ohio.
00:05:12 --> 00:05:15 So here's everything that i've kind of
00:05:15 --> 00:05:18 gleaned from my research in
00:05:18 --> 00:05:21 this here so civilization it's a mix of
00:05:21 --> 00:05:27 war fell because of a mix of wars environmental disasters and biological experimentation
00:05:27 --> 00:05:32 you know sea mutants before the collapse there was a powerful group of people
00:05:32 --> 00:05:36 that are now referred to as the ancients who attempted to safeguard themselves
00:05:36 --> 00:05:39 and their secret in underground facilities,
00:05:39 --> 00:05:43 so kind of a nice file-out bunker-y thing going on there. Meanwhile...
00:05:44 --> 00:05:49 There were experiments on human genetics that led to, like, mutants and who
00:05:49 --> 00:05:55 were later just pretty much abandoned and left to fend for themselves in this destroyed world.
00:05:56 --> 00:06:03 Now, the setting of this game, I think you mentioned it was a sweeting, revolves around ARC.
00:06:04 --> 00:06:07 Yeah. The game itself takes place around ARC.
00:06:08 --> 00:06:11 So we're dealing with, you know, scarcity of, like, a lot of resources,
00:06:12 --> 00:06:17 tensions running high. And there's factions, people vying for power in the arc,
00:06:17 --> 00:06:19 trying to go for dominance there.
00:06:20 --> 00:06:24 And yeah, I think that's pretty much it. I think there's a bit of a meta plot
00:06:24 --> 00:06:30 that in the game where there's deeper secrets about the mutant's origins and
00:06:30 --> 00:06:31 the true fate of the ancients.
00:06:31 --> 00:06:36 So, you know, this is the world if we understand it, but there is,
00:06:36 --> 00:06:42 you know, elements of it that aren't fully fleshed out or that are kind of hinted at there.
00:06:42 --> 00:06:47 And yeah we're playing scavengers that are trying to you know survive and perhaps
00:06:47 --> 00:06:52 build a new society so anything to add to that there?
00:06:53 --> 00:06:59 No I don't I think it's pretty well explained there there were some later like
00:06:59 --> 00:07:04 erotic or some later books that I added on like hyper intelligent mutant animals and stuff,
00:07:05 --> 00:07:09 for the most I think like the core game it was like just like humans that have
00:07:09 --> 00:07:12 been mutated and such go ahead and mention those.
00:07:12 --> 00:07:18 I pulled up Free League's page right now just to verify everything that exists as a properties here.
00:07:18 --> 00:07:21 So there's the core book, which
00:07:21 --> 00:07:25 when I got it, we both own physical copies here. Look at this flex here.
00:07:25 --> 00:07:30 Then there is the GenLab Alpha core rule book,
00:07:30 --> 00:07:35 And there's the Metacron, which is for robots, which is cool.
00:07:35 --> 00:07:40 And then I think Elysium is space, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah,
00:07:40 --> 00:07:43 Elysium is probably the space one. I know there's also one for like oceans.
00:07:43 --> 00:07:46 Yeah, that's Dead Blue Sea. Yeah.
00:07:47 --> 00:07:52 And there's Ad Astra, that maybe that's the space one. Yeah,
00:07:52 --> 00:07:54 Astra would be the space one.
00:07:55 --> 00:07:58 Elysium might be like the one where it's like a home of the ancients or some
00:07:58 --> 00:08:03 kind of like a nicer habitat or something?
00:08:05 --> 00:08:09 I am really wanting this game to kind of take off because there's so many,
00:08:09 --> 00:08:13 as you kind of heard us rattle off, there's a lot of different add-ons to it.
00:08:14 --> 00:08:20 And me being the huge Foundry VTT nerd that I am, they also have pretty much
00:08:20 --> 00:08:23 all these are available for assets on Foundry.
00:08:23 --> 00:08:30 And I think also, there's a couple other big VTTs, Alchemy.
00:08:30 --> 00:08:33 I think there's like a lot of these are probably available on Alchemy as well.
00:08:34 --> 00:08:40 So, yeah, we're going to go ahead and take you all into character creation.
00:08:40 --> 00:08:43 It's a beautiful book. I want to go ahead.
00:08:43 --> 00:08:46 The art style is different. One I'm used to seeing in Free League books,
00:08:46 --> 00:08:48 different artists, it looks like.
00:08:48 --> 00:08:52 Definitely has more of a comic book feel to it. Yeah, it definitely feels like
00:08:52 --> 00:08:54 it's much bolder and grittier.
00:08:55 --> 00:08:58 And I mean, the, the free league stuff we've played, we've played around with
00:08:58 --> 00:09:02 like between Coriolis and Vossen, like, well, Vossen, I think most of its art
00:09:02 --> 00:09:05 was pulled directly from the, the original creator of Vossen.
00:09:06 --> 00:09:10 Like he actually was commissioned for some extra work. And then Coriolis has
00:09:10 --> 00:09:14 a very like science fan, like space opera kind of like painterly look to it.
00:09:15 --> 00:09:20 So if it's the theme with the big and bold. Yeah.
00:09:21 --> 00:09:25 So I'm going to be starting in the book on page 17. And also,
00:09:25 --> 00:09:27 we're going to be using character sheets.
00:09:28 --> 00:09:32 The ones that I found from Odiphas weren't form-fillable, but I found one on
00:09:32 --> 00:09:35 Reddit that somebody made one of these character sheets form-fillable.
00:09:35 --> 00:09:38 So those are going to be the ones that we make available on this here.
00:09:39 --> 00:09:43 So let me read the brief paragraph of introduction to our mutant,
00:09:43 --> 00:09:46 and then we'll kind of talk about everything.
00:09:46 --> 00:09:49 So it says on 17
00:09:49 --> 00:09:52 your player character your mutant is your most
00:09:52 --> 00:09:55 important asset in mutant you're zero here's your weapon your
00:09:55 --> 00:09:58 eyes and ears the world but in return he depends
00:09:58 --> 00:10:01 on you for making decisions for him this i
00:10:01 --> 00:10:04 thought this was kind of a unique kind of introduction very like like
00:10:04 --> 00:10:07 like not uh like what
00:10:07 --> 00:10:10 is it uh not parasitic like a symbiotic relationship between
00:10:10 --> 00:10:16 player and character or you know people that they'll buy their child like an
00:10:16 --> 00:10:21 a rabbit for easter like this is not a toy this is a something your commitment
00:10:21 --> 00:10:25 yeah and and actually i kind of do like that because it makes it makes sense
00:10:25 --> 00:10:27 for a post-apocalyptic setting because,
00:10:27 --> 00:10:31 in those kind of settings you you're kind of taking a little bit more serious.
00:10:32 --> 00:10:35 Even if sometimes like some of the setting bits are like a little gonzo and
00:10:35 --> 00:10:40 a little weird, but like you, like it helps to kind of like get you in the mindset
00:10:40 --> 00:10:43 of like this character, like he could die at any minute.
00:10:43 --> 00:10:48 And if my choices aren't right, like it, like it, it, it helps you care about
00:10:48 --> 00:10:53 the character when they're going out and, and adds to the, helps add to the,
00:10:53 --> 00:10:55 the, the atmosphere of the game and the immersion.
00:10:56 --> 00:10:58 Yeah. So it looks like the first
00:10:58 --> 00:11:01 thing we're going to do is we're going to start out by picking a role.
00:11:02 --> 00:11:04 So the first thing you do is you pick a mutant.
00:11:05 --> 00:11:09 For your mutant, it says Roe. Roe determines who you are and what you do in
00:11:09 --> 00:11:12 the arc, your position in the Dawn World.
00:11:12 --> 00:11:18 And there are eight Roes to choose from, each described on 26 through 31.
00:11:19 --> 00:11:24 So it looks like off the top of our head, we're dealing with, there is an Enforcer.
00:11:25 --> 00:11:28 It looks like a strong fighter protector.
00:11:29 --> 00:11:33 There's a gearhead that is a tinkerer and a builder of useful devices.
00:11:33 --> 00:11:39 A stalker, which is a scout who explores his own. A fixer that is a trader,
00:11:39 --> 00:11:41 a schemer, a manipulator.
00:11:41 --> 00:11:43 That sounds like a Jeremy character.
00:11:44 --> 00:11:49 A dog handler that is a survivor with a loyal dog companion.
00:11:49 --> 00:11:52 A chronicler, which is a historian and knowledge seeker.
00:11:53 --> 00:11:59 There is a boss that is a leader who commands others. and finally a grunt.
00:11:59 --> 00:12:02 Have I missed anything on that or does that look about right?
00:12:03 --> 00:12:05 I think that's it. Yeah, no, it ends up with grunt.
00:12:06 --> 00:12:10 Yeah. So I'm looking for... Yeah.
00:12:10 --> 00:12:14 So what are you thinking of off the top of your head? Well, I'm definitely thinking
00:12:14 --> 00:12:17 I'm going to go with dog handler. Mm-hmm.
00:12:18 --> 00:12:25 Just going with a boy and his dog or like the Mad Max theme of having the Australian shepherd.
00:12:25 --> 00:12:30 Mm-hmm. Okay. Dude, I'm kind of torn between two different ones.
00:12:30 --> 00:12:32 I'm not too interested in being the boss.
00:12:33 --> 00:12:37 You know what? I think I want to be the chronicler. Okay.
00:12:37 --> 00:12:39 And I was his chronicler.
00:12:41 --> 00:12:44 You're Conan. Just Mako.
00:12:46 --> 00:12:49 My master. But that is for another day.
00:12:50 --> 00:12:57 All right. So it looks like we have got... I'll go ahead and put that down as a Chronicler.
00:12:57 --> 00:13:00 I totally picked that because it has Chronic in the name.
00:13:01 --> 00:13:03 No, I didn't. I'm not.
00:13:04 --> 00:13:10 Adam. I just noticed it. Chronicler. Okay. So, okay.
00:13:12 --> 00:13:17 So moving that ahead, so going back to page 17-ish, where we got this.
00:13:19 --> 00:13:21 I have, well, fuck, if it'll work.
00:13:21 --> 00:13:26 I have it here. So we go over to, it's actually on page 18 that has the,
00:13:26 --> 00:13:28 uh, the create a character like list.
00:13:29 --> 00:13:33 So once we've got chosen our role and we, there, there's a bunch of stuff in the role.
00:13:33 --> 00:13:37 Actually, we should also point out. So monster year or monster years or mutant
00:13:37 --> 00:13:41 year zero is the OG year zero game engine.
00:13:42 --> 00:13:45 Like this is where the game engine year zero
00:13:45 --> 00:13:48 that free leagues used for a bunch of other their their titles
00:13:48 --> 00:13:51 originated from so like
00:13:51 --> 00:13:55 that's where we got vasen and and uh coriolis
00:13:55 --> 00:13:58 and and those and so like with the roles they're
00:13:58 --> 00:14:01 very similar to like the archetypes in vasen so like
00:14:01 --> 00:14:05 it gives you kind of multiple choice options for like appearance talents
00:14:05 --> 00:14:08 your like some information about
00:14:08 --> 00:14:12 your character like your connection with other characters it's it's
00:14:12 --> 00:14:16 very similar to other free league games
00:14:16 --> 00:14:19 because it's using it's the original system that all those
00:14:19 --> 00:14:22 other ones are like variants of so we'll
00:14:22 --> 00:14:24 probably have to go through that as well like just like going through the like
00:14:24 --> 00:14:29 what the roles are and such at some point but yeah after choosing your role
00:14:29 --> 00:14:36 we choose our name so all right well it doesn't really fit to be in a chronicler
00:14:36 --> 00:14:39 like that but for some reason I really like to name Vinnie Petro.
00:14:42 --> 00:14:45 Probably not Vin Diesel. I chronicle family.
00:14:48 --> 00:14:53 He's just working on a family tree. I think I'm going to make my character Fido.
00:14:55 --> 00:14:58 I'm going to go with just that as his name. And then his dog,
00:14:58 --> 00:15:01 if I get to name the dog, it's probably going to be named Doug.
00:15:02 --> 00:15:05 Fido and Doug. So you got the dog name and he's got the human name.
00:15:05 --> 00:15:07 Exactly, yeah. I like that.
00:15:07 --> 00:15:12 And then after that, we go on to defining your appearance, which is actually in the role department.
00:15:13 --> 00:15:16 So for example, the, the dog handler's appearance.
00:15:16 --> 00:15:20 So with appearances, you get to change, you get to choose some descriptors of
00:15:20 --> 00:15:22 like your face, your body and your clothes.
00:15:22 --> 00:15:26 So for example, dog handler's options, and you can decide on your,
00:15:26 --> 00:15:32 by yourself, they give you some examples to choose from, but you're not like hard bitten to it.
00:15:32 --> 00:15:36 So for the face i have the options of like hairless scarred
00:15:36 --> 00:15:39 pastry pale unblinking and disfigured
00:15:39 --> 00:15:42 for body i have wiry scrawny short
00:15:42 --> 00:15:45 or hunched and then for clothing it's
00:15:45 --> 00:15:53 overalls padded jacket leather or leather jacket hoodie or heavy boots though
00:15:53 --> 00:15:59 i'm going to probably go with overalls and heavy boots and then probably go
00:15:59 --> 00:16:03 with like wiry and and scarred so a wiry body and a scarred face.
00:16:04 --> 00:16:11 Alright. So, since it's totally not Vin Diesel, I am going to go for my face. I have a hairless head.
00:16:12 --> 00:16:16 I'm just coincidental. Now, body-wise, I do have the option of being skinny,
00:16:16 --> 00:16:21 hunchback, abnormally tiny, and gnarled.
00:16:21 --> 00:16:25 Now, you can also, like, change it up. So, you could be, like, beefy.
00:16:27 --> 00:16:33 You know what? I am going to be beefy boy. Or at least, like, muscle-bound. Yeah.
00:16:34 --> 00:16:41 Stout. Yeah, stout. Yeah. All right. And clothes, worn coveralls with a number on it.
00:16:42 --> 00:16:49 Raincoat worn suit covered by paraphernalia from old age from the old age because
00:16:49 --> 00:16:54 that's the that's the the period after the or before the bombs or before the apocalypse.
00:16:56 --> 00:17:01 I was just like thinking like one of those race car drivers like coveralls that
00:17:01 --> 00:17:08 their crews wear like he's he's like wearing a Dale Earnhardt coveralls nice
00:17:08 --> 00:17:11 but yeah I think I'll honestly,
00:17:11 --> 00:17:16 yeah one coveralls with a number on it i just have to figure out what dale earnhardt's
00:17:16 --> 00:17:21 number was let me see let me ask my wife real quick andy what was dale earnhardt's
00:17:21 --> 00:17:26 number she doesn't know i guess i better start filing only we google it,
00:17:27 --> 00:17:28 we do have the technology.
00:17:30 --> 00:17:36 All right dale earnhardt what's well okay so i'm gonna be wearing the dale I can't even speak.
00:17:36 --> 00:17:41 I'm going to be wearing the Dale Earnhardt overalls with the number three in
00:17:41 --> 00:17:42 blazing on the back. Nice.
00:17:43 --> 00:17:48 Awesome. So go ahead and we'll go ahead and record those, I guess.
00:17:48 --> 00:17:52 Well, I guess while we're doing that, you've already probably written yours
00:17:52 --> 00:17:53 down, right? Yeah, mine are done.
00:17:55 --> 00:17:58 Well, why don't we go ahead and jump into talents then? All right.
00:17:59 --> 00:18:02 Yes, talents are the next thing. They're also, no, not talents.
00:18:02 --> 00:18:06 Actually, we have to distribute 14 points across the four attribute scores.
00:18:07 --> 00:18:12 So if you look at your your your role at the top, there should be underneath
00:18:12 --> 00:18:15 the typical names and dog name or and that kind of stuff.
00:18:15 --> 00:18:20 There's a key attribute that your character has, which according to this,
00:18:20 --> 00:18:25 when you create your character, you should distribute the total of 14 points
00:18:25 --> 00:18:27 across four attribute scores.
00:18:27 --> 00:18:32 Each attribute must have a starting value of two to four, except one.
00:18:32 --> 00:18:40 The attribute listed as a key attribute by your role description may have a starting role of five.
00:18:40 --> 00:18:45 So no more than two, but no less than four, except for the key attribute.
00:18:45 --> 00:18:50 All right. And the attributes in question are strength, agility, wits, and empathy.
00:18:51 --> 00:18:55 All right. Well, it seems like a good time for us to take a break then.
00:18:55 --> 00:18:57 So we'll kind of figure this out.
00:18:57 --> 00:19:01 And then when we jump back in, folks, we'll run through our numbers and kind of what we're thinking.
00:19:01 --> 00:19:07 Music.
00:19:10 --> 00:19:15 All right, so kind of looking through here with our base attributes,
00:19:15 --> 00:19:21 it seems like my, being a chronicler, Vinny's main deal would be empathy.
00:19:22 --> 00:19:26 So distributing the points, I went ahead and put five in empathy.
00:19:26 --> 00:19:29 Then I went for strength because he's Vin Diesel. I
00:19:29 --> 00:19:33 put that it a four then i have
00:19:33 --> 00:19:37 uh put three and
00:19:37 --> 00:19:40 wits and two in
00:19:40 --> 00:19:46 agility and did i overspend no i think you have five uh you had five four three
00:19:46 --> 00:19:52 two that's 14 14 points yeah okay what do you got well for fido since the key
00:19:52 --> 00:19:57 attribute for him is uh empathy or uh is uh agility i bumped that up to five,
00:19:58 --> 00:20:00 and then went with empathy of four,
00:20:01 --> 00:20:03 wits of three, and strength of two.
00:20:04 --> 00:20:11 And yeah. Okay. And the skill part with EuroZero stuff, I mean,
00:20:11 --> 00:20:14 we've done these several times, but if you're not familiar with this system
00:20:14 --> 00:20:19 here, you're going to be rolling your attribute plus your skill.
00:20:19 --> 00:20:24 So we have 10 points to distribute amongst our skills. Now, they're all divided
00:20:24 --> 00:20:28 up here, you know, going from the top down, you've got your strength skills,
00:20:28 --> 00:20:31 which are endure, force, and fight.
00:20:31 --> 00:20:37 So, for example, if I have a four in strength and I have a two in fight,
00:20:37 --> 00:20:43 then I'm going to be rolling 60 sixes and, you know, counting each six as a success.
00:20:44 --> 00:20:48 Your agility scores look like it's sneak, move, shoot, and scout,
00:20:49 --> 00:20:52 followed by— No, scout is wisdom. Or, sorry, scout is wits.
00:20:53 --> 00:20:56 Scout's wits, pardon me. So it's a sneak, move, shoot.
00:20:56 --> 00:21:02 Wits is scout, comprehend, and know the zone. So I guess lore. Survival.
00:21:02 --> 00:21:05 Yeah, I think it's like, I think know the zone might be survive.
00:21:06 --> 00:21:10 That would make sense, to be honest. I don't mean to keep cutting you off. Oh, please do.
00:21:10 --> 00:21:13 These are questions other people would have. Let me just double check the know the zone.
00:21:13 --> 00:21:20 I'm pretty sure that's a, the zonelands beyond the arc's borders are unknown wastes to most people.
00:21:20 --> 00:21:24 But there are some individuals mostly
00:21:24 --> 00:21:27 stalkers and some daring chroniclers who have
00:21:27 --> 00:21:30 ventured out and seen what's what
00:21:30 --> 00:21:35 is out there rolled for no to zone when you encounter some creature phenomenon
00:21:35 --> 00:21:39 yeah so it is actually kind of like like a knowledge the wasteland kind of thing
00:21:39 --> 00:21:45 yeah okay good that makes sense other than like oh i know where this is if you
00:21:45 --> 00:21:47 know where this is in a place where or,
00:21:48 --> 00:21:51 rumors of what's outside your borders
00:21:51 --> 00:21:54 yeah and finally we're going
00:21:54 --> 00:21:57 to be doing empathy which are the ones that i have been
00:21:57 --> 00:22:00 looking at and we'll kind of lead into
00:22:00 --> 00:22:06 something else here real quick so we got sense emotion manipulate and then heal
00:22:06 --> 00:22:15 but as you pointed out to me off mic here We each got a special skill that is
00:22:15 --> 00:22:18 only for our player type.
00:22:19 --> 00:22:25 And mine is inspire, which is also an empathy skill.
00:22:25 --> 00:22:31 And inspire is, I can either buff or debuff people is what it reads like.
00:22:32 --> 00:22:34 Your post-apocalyptic bard.
00:22:38 --> 00:22:41 In the old days he said i did it all
00:22:41 --> 00:22:44 for the nookie come on the nookie come on and
00:22:44 --> 00:22:48 you can take and then we lost the rest of the words to time but yeah
00:22:48 --> 00:22:51 so that's kind of the abilities is as we
00:22:51 --> 00:22:54 got listed here so what's your added skill that
00:22:54 --> 00:22:57 you get to add to your character before we start throwing out points well
00:22:57 --> 00:23:00 the specialty for the dog handler is actually basically getting
00:23:00 --> 00:23:04 a dog so it's called sick a dog and it
00:23:04 --> 00:23:06 level at level one you basically it gives you the
00:23:06 --> 00:23:09 dog and then you can bump it up to increase it because you
00:23:09 --> 00:23:13 use sick dog plus agility to for
00:23:13 --> 00:23:17 anything that your dog is doing so like tracking or fighting
00:23:17 --> 00:23:24 or hunting and stuff like that so and yeah that's uh basically for the for the
00:23:24 --> 00:23:30 dog yeah so like the dog does have stats of its own strength of four and agility
00:23:30 --> 00:23:34 of six it can fight it can scout ahead it can track things,
00:23:35 --> 00:23:39 it has a damage or it can shoot an enemy can choose to attack whether they attack
00:23:39 --> 00:23:45 you or the dog the dog suffers and recovers damage just like a mutant if the
00:23:45 --> 00:23:50 dog's strength reaches zero it dies something you'll surely make your opponent
00:23:50 --> 00:23:52 pay for dearly literally says that in the book.
00:23:53 --> 00:23:56 Finding a new mutt in the ark isn't hard it
00:23:56 --> 00:24:00 takes a few days and a successful sick a dog role to
00:24:00 --> 00:24:03 tame a new one a failed role will result
00:24:03 --> 00:24:05 in a fight out in the zone wild dogs are less
00:24:05 --> 00:24:12 common and then for the dog survival it has like grub and water dogs are survivors
00:24:12 --> 00:24:18 eating garbage and drinking rot water that rot water you don't need to supply
00:24:18 --> 00:24:22 it with daily grub and water but you do need to give it extra grub and water
00:24:22 --> 00:24:23 to recover from traumas,
00:24:24 --> 00:24:25 which I'm assuming is like damages and such.
00:24:26 --> 00:24:31 Yeah. And then sympathy as well on this, your dog gives you all the sympathy
00:24:31 --> 00:24:33 you need to recover lost empathy.
00:24:33 --> 00:24:36 So you don't need to, you don't need the company. I don't need the company of
00:24:36 --> 00:24:37 other, of other mutants.
00:24:39 --> 00:24:45 As long as I got my dog. So I'm basically a post-apocalyptic druid. Yeah.
00:24:46 --> 00:24:48 This is so cool. Or perhaps a ranger.
00:24:49 --> 00:24:53 So how have you kind of, we'll start with your skills and go through my numbers
00:24:53 --> 00:24:55 real quick. What were you focusing on?
00:24:56 --> 00:25:00 Well, I definitely, so I bumped up sick dog to two and then everything else was one.
00:25:01 --> 00:25:03 So, because I figure over the time, over the course of play,
00:25:04 --> 00:25:07 if we ever play these characters, I can just like level up my skills as I go.
00:25:08 --> 00:25:11 So i went with an endure of one because
00:25:11 --> 00:25:13 endure is basically how you endure the elements out in the zone
00:25:13 --> 00:25:16 yeah force and fight i mean
00:25:16 --> 00:25:19 i'm not very strong character so i didn't add those i
00:25:19 --> 00:25:22 gave myself one in sneak because my character is probably
00:25:22 --> 00:25:25 gonna be stealthy shoot of one because my
00:25:25 --> 00:25:29 character is likely going to be firing like weapons from afar
00:25:29 --> 00:25:32 while my dog goes in scout just for
00:25:32 --> 00:25:36 like again more survival stuff i also
00:25:36 --> 00:25:39 got a basically a one in know
00:25:39 --> 00:25:42 the zone sense emotion manipulate and heal
00:25:42 --> 00:25:44 just because i feel like my character the way i want
00:25:44 --> 00:25:47 my character is he's going to be very fast and very empathetic
00:25:47 --> 00:25:50 so kind of bump those
00:25:50 --> 00:25:53 up and we're and we're spending 10 points right
00:25:53 --> 00:25:56 yeah yeah it's yeah 10 points for uh for skills so
00:25:56 --> 00:26:05 all right i have you know kind of because i'm vin diesel vin petrol vinny petrol
00:26:05 --> 00:26:12 yeah vin vinny pet is it petrol or petro is it the old way is the english way
00:26:12 --> 00:26:14 of the european way of saying gas or is it.
00:26:15 --> 00:26:19 Uh yeah i think so i like that so i'm
00:26:19 --> 00:26:22 gonna do endure force and fight at once but
00:26:22 --> 00:26:25 i had four at that so that means i got five die then i
00:26:25 --> 00:26:28 took shoot at one so my duty kind
00:26:28 --> 00:26:31 of sucks that means i'd be like rolling four die yeah my
00:26:31 --> 00:26:34 wits the only thing i picked up on wits because i
00:26:34 --> 00:26:38 was kind of running loose is know the zone so
00:26:38 --> 00:26:43 i i got four of that kind of with my backstory i'm thinking and then my empathy
00:26:43 --> 00:26:50 which is my you know big one here i've got sense emotion at one manipulate at
00:26:50 --> 00:26:55 one heal at one but that would be six you know with the plus that i have with
00:26:55 --> 00:26:57 the attribute and And then finally,
00:26:57 --> 00:26:59 I took Inspire 2 because that's my big move.
00:27:00 --> 00:27:06 So, you know, Roman countrymen, lend me your ears, kind of stuff like that. Totally could do that.
00:27:06 --> 00:27:14 So, that looks like we've got that part of it. Let me go back to the book here.
00:27:14 --> 00:27:18 So, we have spent our 10 on levels, and we need to choose a talent.
00:27:21 --> 00:27:25 So, for each role has their own talents that you can choose from,
00:27:26 --> 00:27:29 and the talents themselves are explained in chapter 4.
00:27:30 --> 00:27:35 I'm looking at the talent here. I think I had to go to a separate page.
00:27:35 --> 00:27:37 Chum was on 37. Where are my others?
00:27:37 --> 00:27:42 Yeah, Chronicler's on 37. Yeah. Yeah. Or talent. So I could be a Bonesaw,
00:27:43 --> 00:27:45 an Agitator. Bonesaw's ready.
00:27:45 --> 00:27:50 That does sound pretty good. Or a Performer. So I'm guessing Bonesaw is probably
00:27:50 --> 00:27:52 going to have something to do with healing.
00:27:52 --> 00:27:56 Yeah. I had to guess. Yeah, that sounds good. I'll look at Chapter 4.
00:27:57 --> 00:28:01 I'll kind of think about that for a bit. What do you got? So I've got Bloodhound,
00:28:01 --> 00:28:04 Fight Dog, and Mutant's Best Friend.
00:28:04 --> 00:28:06 And they're basically all just dog they revolve around
00:28:06 --> 00:28:09 my dog so bloodhound it gets they get a plus two
00:28:09 --> 00:28:12 bonus to tracking fight dog gets
00:28:12 --> 00:28:16 a plus two bonus to attacks and and stuff
00:28:16 --> 00:28:23 and then mutant's best friend it basically is sort of a buff and or debuff for
00:28:23 --> 00:28:29 my dog like for me so the dog i can rely on the dog to like get me out of a
00:28:29 --> 00:28:35 scrape or it can take the if i'm gonna get hit by something it can take the hit. Mm-hmm.
00:28:36 --> 00:28:39 And I just had to, I basically would be rolling with the sick,
00:28:39 --> 00:28:44 a dog plus agility instead of any other like thing for like, for instance,
00:28:44 --> 00:28:48 a lot of these are like basically use the sick, a dog plus agility instead of
00:28:48 --> 00:28:52 like move or, or sneak because the dog is a lot. You're relying on the dog for
00:28:52 --> 00:28:53 that kind of stuff. Yeah.
00:28:54 --> 00:28:58 Now, if the dog dies in any of these events, these skills, the,
00:28:58 --> 00:29:00 these, this talent basically just transfers over to the next dog I get.
00:29:01 --> 00:29:04 Yeah. it's very very kind of reminded
00:29:04 --> 00:29:07 of there's a perk in one of the fallout games if
00:29:07 --> 00:29:10 you lose dog meat you get a new dog meat like a
00:29:10 --> 00:29:13 basically a new puppy like that starts following you
00:29:13 --> 00:29:16 like a few like the next day so it's
00:29:16 --> 00:29:20 very reminded of that yeah so agitator
00:29:20 --> 00:29:24 on mine gives me a plus two modification when i
00:29:24 --> 00:29:27 inspire someone to fight or
00:29:27 --> 00:29:34 shoot now bone saw is everything you think it is it's you know healing yeah
00:29:34 --> 00:29:40 you get a plus two modification when you roll to heal a critical injury you're
00:29:40 --> 00:29:46 a wasteland paramedic yeah but not when tending someone who is broken by trauma And finally,
00:29:47 --> 00:29:49 performer means that once per session,
00:29:49 --> 00:29:55 I can tell a story by a trash can fire, recite poetry, sing a song, road to inspire.
00:29:57 --> 00:30:02 Every success gives me six bullets or rations. A failed road means that someone
00:30:02 --> 00:30:04 doesn't appreciate my art.
00:30:04 --> 00:30:06 Very bardic. Yeah.
00:30:08 --> 00:30:11 You know, honestly, I'm torn between
00:30:11 --> 00:30:15 agitator and bone saw, but bone saw actually does sound kind of good.
00:30:15 --> 00:30:19 So I could be the, I could be the hearer. So I'm gonna go with bone saw.
00:30:20 --> 00:30:23 All right. What did you finalize what you were picking? You think?
00:30:24 --> 00:30:29 Oh yeah. I think I'm going to go with, I think I'm going to go with fight dog.
00:30:31 --> 00:30:35 I think that's, I think that's the route to go. I, we, as gameplay goes on,
00:30:35 --> 00:30:39 I can, I can get new ones, like new talents as well. Like as I accumulate more like stuff.
00:30:40 --> 00:30:42 So yeah, I'm going to go with fight dog.
00:30:42 --> 00:30:45 Since my dog is probably going to be like basically my tank.
00:30:45 --> 00:30:50 To my DPS, or like my range character, so yeah.
00:30:51 --> 00:30:57 Huh, well, it looks like it is time to look at the chart again.
00:30:57 --> 00:31:02 Time for the titular name, yep.
00:31:03 --> 00:31:08 All right, seven, so draw a mutation. Mutations, I'm reading from the book here,
00:31:09 --> 00:31:14 are a superhuman abilities where mutations come from no one among the people knows.
00:31:14 --> 00:31:19 The problem is that they are both unpredictable and dangerous, even to your cells.
00:31:19 --> 00:31:22 Besides, they can't always be activated on command.
00:31:22 --> 00:31:26 Sometimes the power is there, ready to unleash. Sometimes it's not.
00:31:27 --> 00:31:33 So, a mutation draw. Normally, you only get one mutation from the start.
00:31:33 --> 00:31:34 You don't get to choose a mutation.
00:31:35 --> 00:31:41 Instead, you draw a random mutation card or roll a D66 once on a mutation table.
00:31:41 --> 00:31:44 We're very familiar with that roll uh from boston
00:31:44 --> 00:31:47 and such yeah it's a critical row injury all
00:31:47 --> 00:31:51 that fun stuff and when we say d66 it's you're
00:31:51 --> 00:31:53 using two d6 and one of the sixes it's a
00:31:53 --> 00:32:00 10 spot and one of the sixes it's a one spot so if i wrote a three and a six
00:32:00 --> 00:32:04 it would be you know 36 yeah so you're not like adding them together you're
00:32:04 --> 00:32:09 just kind of you're using them both as like that's your number so do you want
00:32:09 --> 00:32:11 me to roll first or yeah go right ahead,
00:32:12 --> 00:32:15 All right, so I'm starting with a corpse eater.
00:32:17 --> 00:32:22 My metabolism is abnormally robust, as well as your jaws and teeth.
00:32:23 --> 00:32:30 You can eat raw meat even several days after the prey's death without suffering rot points.
00:32:31 --> 00:32:35 Small game counts as one radiation of grub each.
00:32:35 --> 00:32:38 Bigger creatures or humanoids count
00:32:38 --> 00:32:45 as two rations oh sorry one ration of grubby each and then bigger creatures
00:32:45 --> 00:32:52 or even humanoids count as two rations and bite a victim at arm's length the
00:32:52 --> 00:32:56 attack inflicts damage equal to the number of mutant points spent.
00:32:57 --> 00:33:00 I need a that looks good
00:33:00 --> 00:33:03 looks like I rode because I
00:33:03 --> 00:33:06 actually pulled up foundry it has a
00:33:06 --> 00:33:09 macro it's really nice look at you look at
00:33:09 --> 00:33:17 me fancy so I actually wrote a 14 on Foundry which tells me that I have extreme
00:33:17 --> 00:33:22 reflexes I might look at the book for extreme reflexes but extreme reflexes
00:33:22 --> 00:33:27 on page 72 they're superhuman reflexes you can add 2,
00:33:28 --> 00:33:32 per magic point spent to your initiative row at the beginning of a conflict and,
00:33:33 --> 00:33:38 You need to spend MP before rowing initiative. You can always use this effect
00:33:38 --> 00:33:44 to increase your intuitive score by plus two during combat.
00:33:44 --> 00:33:47 But then it will cost you a maneuver.
00:33:48 --> 00:33:53 Fight or shoot an enemy a second time in a turn for just one extra MP.
00:33:54 --> 00:33:59 But you don't get a maneuver. So kind of thinking in Red Marcus terms, you burn your twitch.
00:34:00 --> 00:34:03 So I can shoot twice, but I can't defend myself essentially.
00:34:04 --> 00:34:08 And I can dodge someone dodge when
00:34:08 --> 00:34:13 someone fights you or shoots at you each MP reduces the damage you take by one
00:34:13 --> 00:34:19 you must activate the effect before you roll for armor okay so I gotta spin
00:34:19 --> 00:34:26 if I have armor and then do that so I mean I don't think I see bad corpse eaters sound cool it's very,
00:34:27 --> 00:34:31 fitting for my character as like basically like an independent dog man.
00:34:33 --> 00:34:38 Dogman there is an option for two mutations at character creation however it
00:34:38 --> 00:34:44 would require us to remove decrease one of our attribute scores by one step,
00:34:44 --> 00:34:49 stick with the one myself I'm good to stick with the one because I'm happy with what I got,
00:34:51 --> 00:34:55 these points I mean you're not thinking about it much it's like I take that
00:34:55 --> 00:35:01 number down one but if I took wits down to you know from three to two then And all of a sudden,
00:35:02 --> 00:35:06 when I'm rolling my zone or any of those types of abilities like that,
00:35:06 --> 00:35:09 I'm only rolling like four die, whereas I would have had like five.
00:35:10 --> 00:35:16 So, you know, you need that extra die. So for most veterans,
00:35:16 --> 00:35:17 this is what I would take.
00:35:18 --> 00:35:23 Now, according to this, so yeah, it says that with the mutant powers like are
00:35:23 --> 00:35:25 fueled by mutation points.
00:35:25 --> 00:35:27 And at the sounds of it.
00:35:28 --> 00:35:33 Is you have to spend at least one mutation point to activate the mutant powers.
00:35:33 --> 00:35:39 However, mutation points are equal to, at the beginning of every game session,
00:35:39 --> 00:35:44 you get a number of mutation points equal to the number of mutations you have.
00:35:44 --> 00:35:50 So we both start at one, and then they can never exceed more than 10 mutation points.
00:35:51 --> 00:35:54 So it's a double-edged sword. And you'll like this,
00:35:54 --> 00:35:57 because this is something from a kind of reminiscent of Vossen, the uh
00:35:57 --> 00:36:00 the pushing mechanic that we've we've seen before yeah you
00:36:00 --> 00:36:03 can win more mutation points by pushing a die
00:36:03 --> 00:36:06 roll and it says p please see
00:36:06 --> 00:36:09 page 50 okay which probably
00:36:09 --> 00:36:14 just kind of goes into like the the pushing role yeah so
00:36:14 --> 00:36:17 we've got our mutation i dig
00:36:17 --> 00:36:20 it so far fun eight we're on
00:36:20 --> 00:36:23 to defining our relationships into pcs and npcs so
00:36:23 --> 00:36:26 we only have a so well yeah but that's actually yeah so
00:36:26 --> 00:36:29 because on our roles similar to
00:36:29 --> 00:36:33 uh in our roles similar to again games other
00:36:33 --> 00:36:37 year one series systems and also like uh even like powered by the apocalypse
00:36:37 --> 00:36:44 with its its bonds and its and such um so yeah we're doing relationships the
00:36:44 --> 00:36:50 the game offers uh some options for like choosing one of these one of the options below for.
00:36:52 --> 00:36:54 What your character, like what your character thinks of what your relationship
00:36:54 --> 00:36:57 is with your, with your player care, with your fellow player characters.
00:36:58 --> 00:37:06 For example, I could have it that Vin is disliked by my dog and therefore by me as well.
00:37:07 --> 00:37:14 Or Vin thinks he is all that idiot. Vin clearly dislikes you and, or me and my dog.
00:37:15 --> 00:37:21 Or the last one I have, Vin is the object of my secret desires. Oh my.
00:37:22 --> 00:37:27 That's very Apocalypse World-ish. Yeah, that is very Apocalypse World-coded.
00:37:27 --> 00:37:30 And you don't have to use that. You can use whatever.
00:37:31 --> 00:37:35 I mean, in fact, don't idolize me.
00:37:35 --> 00:37:39 But you can also make your priorities. These are just suggestions.
00:37:39 --> 00:37:41 I like using the suggestions occasionally.
00:37:42 --> 00:37:46 And in a lot of these other games, like relationships with NPCs and stuff like that.
00:37:46 --> 00:37:52 I know Aliens was really big on this, too. But there's a lot of,
00:37:52 --> 00:37:56 you like this person, you hate this person, all that you can do in these games.
00:37:56 --> 00:38:01 But, you know, typically with, I let the table decide that.
00:38:01 --> 00:38:05 Do you want to be adversarial with this person? Does everybody get along kind of stuff?
00:38:06 --> 00:38:11 And I think it's easier to get away with in other games than aliens. But, you know. Yeah.
00:38:12 --> 00:38:18 So here's my options, buddy. Is the hero of your story but doesn't know it.
00:38:18 --> 00:38:22 And I was his chronicler. I do like that.
00:38:22 --> 00:38:27 Doesn't understand his own good and needs to be saved. Is a threat to the entire
00:38:27 --> 00:38:29 people? That would be your dog.
00:38:31 --> 00:38:35 We'll die soon. That is also your dog. It's only a matter of time I plan.
00:38:37 --> 00:38:40 Honestly, you're the hero of the story. You just don't know it.
00:38:40 --> 00:38:43 Now, whether I'm talking about you or Doug, that's another question.
00:38:44 --> 00:38:49 I do have an idea for like my, an original one for, for you for this is.
00:38:50 --> 00:38:54 Is liked by my dog, is one of the few people liked by my dog.
00:38:55 --> 00:39:01 And therefore I trust them. Yeah. Awesome. So we're, we're good. Yeah.
00:39:02 --> 00:39:05 Oh yeah. I see that as like, I hate, I need to protect my big dream.
00:39:05 --> 00:39:09 Well, that stuff's actually for the NPCs, like for, for NPCs and also like a big dream is a,
00:39:09 --> 00:39:14 is like a personal goal kind of thing for the character yeah and the mpc stuff
00:39:14 --> 00:39:18 will skip over that i think that's one of these things when you get when you
00:39:18 --> 00:39:21 burst our set characters in the arc then they can do that yeah because like
00:39:21 --> 00:39:24 we may not use the same characters like it like for,
00:39:24 --> 00:39:28 for the dog handler because this is like the core book and like the core setting
00:39:28 --> 00:39:34 it's like the fixer sister or the fixer sixter who has seen me cry and needs
00:39:34 --> 00:39:41 to die or the enforcer jonitz who kicked your last dog to death. I was like, fuck.
00:39:42 --> 00:39:46 No, that's X card right there. Yeah. I mean, this is the post-apocalypse,
00:39:46 --> 00:39:49 but yeah, I get like, not everybody's up for that kind of stuff.
00:39:49 --> 00:39:54 There's a website where you can look up if the dog dies in the movie. Like that's, trust me.
00:39:55 --> 00:40:00 I understand. Here's my house rule. Your dog will never die. It may get be debuffed.
00:40:01 --> 00:40:04 It may have to go to the kennel and it's lost its abilities or something like that. I don't know.
00:40:05 --> 00:40:10 I'm fine. the dog dying and me getting another dog. Chris. It's the rules of the apocalypse.
00:40:12 --> 00:40:17 If you have that if you're not comfortable doing it, I'm fine also going with that.
00:40:18 --> 00:40:21 You don't have to worry about me with that. I appreciate that.
00:40:21 --> 00:40:24 I've got to this is Roe Point Shane.
00:40:25 --> 00:40:30 We've been hosting these podcasts and stuff like that since April of 2016.
00:40:31 --> 00:40:34 And around probably April of 2017,
00:40:34 --> 00:40:38 I played a delta green game where i didn't explicitly
00:40:38 --> 00:40:41 feed but it involved me baiting a shock
00:40:41 --> 00:40:45 off in with a dog from the vet or
00:40:45 --> 00:40:47 not the bad one of your players never lets you
00:40:47 --> 00:40:50 live that they will never let me deliver that down so
00:40:50 --> 00:40:53 as far as going forward i have to just be the most even
00:40:53 --> 00:41:00 though i'm not a big pet owner but i i'm you got a dog now i do he he's oh he's
00:41:00 --> 00:41:03 a good dog he's a good boy can we do so let's do another house show real quick
00:41:03 --> 00:41:08 so you've got to it's a very robust character sheet of two which is kind of
00:41:08 --> 00:41:13 more than i think i've seen another year zero things but,
00:41:14 --> 00:41:21 in lieu of actually a pc from the arc why don't we real quick i'm gonna i'm
00:41:21 --> 00:41:26 gonna put this on page two the second one but won't you give me someone from
00:41:26 --> 00:41:30 your past i'll give you one okay so like who
00:41:31 --> 00:41:36 were they what were they the road to you and yeah just anything about them,
00:41:37 --> 00:41:37 Okay.
00:41:41 --> 00:41:47 Put me on the spot here. I'll go first, because I had one. Yeah, okay. That's my...
00:41:48 --> 00:41:52 This person had disappeared. He went deep into the zone, but he was my mentor
00:41:52 --> 00:41:56 before he went that way. And he was Paul the Walker.
00:41:57 --> 00:42:00 God damn it. That took too long for me to realize.
00:42:02 --> 00:42:05 Paul the Walker. You son of a...
00:42:07 --> 00:42:14 All right until i see him again so i'm gonna he's missing an action but he's
00:42:14 --> 00:42:18 the one who got me started on the path to being a chronicer,
00:42:20 --> 00:42:23 since your life of crime before that and then yeah.
00:42:25 --> 00:42:31 Oh my god he was originally he was originally a boss yeah or a gearhead,
00:42:32 --> 00:42:37 no he was originally he was originally an enforcer or a gearhead who is uh undercover,
00:42:38 --> 00:42:41 oh god from the
00:42:41 --> 00:42:46 ancients yeah still there yeah maybe he went back to him and i'm gonna be betrayed
00:42:46 --> 00:42:50 who knows did you do you like how i worked in paul walker though yeah i do i'll
00:42:50 --> 00:42:56 absolutely love that i've got one now i kind of think his name is jimmy rust
00:42:56 --> 00:42:59 arms and he is a He's a gearhead,
00:42:59 --> 00:43:05 loves tinkering with his, with his old Volkswagen Beetle or sorry,
00:43:05 --> 00:43:06 Volksbeagle, Volksbeetle.
00:43:09 --> 00:43:12 And he's always just kind of like tinkering it, like trying to get up to like
00:43:12 --> 00:43:14 high speeds and such. Yeah.
00:43:14 --> 00:43:18 But he's always fine. It's hard for him to like find good parts.
00:43:18 --> 00:43:22 Hence why they're, he's always got rust on his fingers. Mm-hmm.
00:43:22 --> 00:43:28 Well, the... Where do we put those? I just put people I've met second page. Yeah.
00:43:29 --> 00:43:32 I wouldn't eat up in a valuable place. It just seemed like something fun.
00:43:32 --> 00:43:36 And I wanted to work in Paul Walker, but I kind of... You know,
00:43:36 --> 00:43:37 here's our own little flair.
00:43:37 --> 00:43:39 So if somebody actually wanted to play any of these characters,
00:43:40 --> 00:43:42 they can... You know, there's a little backstory for you.
00:43:43 --> 00:43:46 Yeah. Also, I'm going to change Jimmy Rustfingers. That's what he says. Okay.
00:43:48 --> 00:43:51 Big dreams? Oh, yes. The dreams.
00:43:51 --> 00:43:56 Hang on. I've never watched a Fast and Furious movie all the way through, by the way.
00:43:57 --> 00:44:01 They're pretty fun. They're done. They're fun. I think I watched the first one.
00:44:02 --> 00:44:05 I haven't seen one where they're in space yet, if that's real.
00:44:05 --> 00:44:08 Not yet. I don't think that's real yet. Yeah.
00:44:09 --> 00:44:12 All right. So for big dreams for the dog handler.
00:44:13 --> 00:44:18 So my choices are to kill the next mutant who looks at you sideways.
00:44:18 --> 00:44:21 Ways for the one you desire to
00:44:21 --> 00:44:26 feel the same way about you to leave the ark with your dog and find a better
00:44:26 --> 00:44:31 life elsewhere hmm i kind of like that one honestly the last one like the the
00:44:31 --> 00:44:36 last one to leave the ark and with my dog and find uh find a better life elsewhere
00:44:36 --> 00:44:39 like maybe like the the the ark is the pits for my character or like,
00:44:40 --> 00:44:46 Maybe I don't get along with the elders of the Earth.
00:44:46 --> 00:44:51 Yeah, it's not a utopia by any means. There's infighting and agendas.
00:44:51 --> 00:44:56 I feel more at home out in the zones than I do in the Ark.
00:44:57 --> 00:45:03 I'm kind of torn on mine. My big dream is for the Ark to become a place of culture
00:45:03 --> 00:45:05 and learning. Again, we can make up our own.
00:45:06 --> 00:45:13 To write a great story of how the people find Eden, to bring children to the
00:45:13 --> 00:45:19 people and teach the daughter and son all they need to know about the Dawnworld. That's a little weird.
00:45:20 --> 00:45:23 I think the Dawnworld is like the future.
00:45:24 --> 00:45:27 I think it's like, yeah, I think it's like the I have to look at,
00:45:27 --> 00:45:32 quickly check the game for like what that means but I think it's like something to do with the,
00:45:32 --> 00:45:39 out of the world now like as it is or like what it can be okay well let me look it up here real quick,
00:45:40 --> 00:45:45 there's there's there's reference of like searching for eden which is like it's
00:45:45 --> 00:45:51 like a fairy tale kind of location the dawn world it it's there at the ancients
00:45:51 --> 00:45:59 this was a time of technological achievements vast cities global civilizations everything collapsed,
00:45:59 --> 00:46:03 you know I'm trying to go grand serious here,
00:46:03 --> 00:46:08 the people to the people of the zone the dawn world is more like a myth mutants
00:46:08 --> 00:46:11 of the ark don't have a clear understanding of what happened,
00:46:11 --> 00:46:16 only fragments are not always passed down so yeah so it is like basically like
00:46:16 --> 00:46:20 a kind of mythology that's that permeates the wasteland,
00:46:20 --> 00:46:22 yeah you know.
00:46:24 --> 00:46:29 I honestly God think that I like the idea of how the people find eating,
00:46:29 --> 00:46:32 and you're going to take them there i like that yeah
00:46:32 --> 00:46:35 like maybe that's and like that also kind of like like i want to leave the
00:46:35 --> 00:46:39 ark with my dog to find a better life elsewhere like that's my goals yeah it
00:46:39 --> 00:46:44 kind of like you've maybe like you've uh it's sort of like you it's it's tangled
00:46:44 --> 00:46:52 into your like your perception of me kind of thing yeah and it's eden is it's
00:46:52 --> 00:46:54 a rumored place where, you know,
00:46:55 --> 00:46:59 it's a haven where there's food, clean water, and untouched technology from
00:46:59 --> 00:47:02 the Don World. So, you know, like the Garden of Eden.
00:47:04 --> 00:47:08 And, wow, so I'll get that put in here.
00:47:09 --> 00:47:16 So, yeah, you're, I do like you. I'm Conan, a little sorcerer guy. Fido, the barbarian.
00:47:18 --> 00:47:24 Fido, what is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before
00:47:24 --> 00:47:28 you, and to hear the lamentations of their puppies. Scratches.
00:47:30 --> 00:47:35 Yeah, yeah. well looks like we need two other things and we're good or three
00:47:35 --> 00:47:41 so we need to choose our gear yep which is pretty pretty quick,
00:47:42 --> 00:47:46 yeah it's just you you don't get weapons for free but you can buy gear,
00:47:47 --> 00:47:50 with bullets you do start with you yeah you get so yeah you get yeah bullets
00:47:50 --> 00:47:56 is are is the currency i'm guessing yeah d6 bullets d6 rations and you do get
00:47:56 --> 00:48:01 a oh you don't get uh oh that's sad because like i'm sorry sir check your privilege
00:48:01 --> 00:48:04 you don't get weapons i do.
00:48:06 --> 00:48:09 All right because for me like choose one of
00:48:09 --> 00:48:15 the following starting weapons so a bike chain a scrap knife a slingshot a scrap
00:48:15 --> 00:48:21 rifle and then i can buy extra bits or extra gear with my bullets so i'm gonna
00:48:21 --> 00:48:27 go with the rifle the scrap rifle i'm looking to see where to put my gear in.
00:48:27 --> 00:48:32 So it's actually on the character sheet it's below appearance on the first one.
00:48:33 --> 00:48:37 Also, you need to roll a die six for your bullets, your rations, and your water.
00:48:38 --> 00:48:44 As it stands, I currently right now have six bullets, three rations, and one water.
00:48:45 --> 00:48:51 I get jack shit. I got three rations.
00:48:51 --> 00:48:59 I got two bullets. and you'll see D6 one last time and it fell on the edge so
00:48:59 --> 00:49:06 I don't count that and I've got one because I hit the lotto here water,
00:49:07 --> 00:49:15 hey not too good not terrible yep let's see so now that we got that out of the
00:49:15 --> 00:49:20 way let's see going back to 18 which I do want to say the,
00:49:21 --> 00:49:25 little segment here has got the checklist amazing. I like it, of course.
00:49:26 --> 00:49:32 Create the Ark. Now, that... That seems more like a campaign thing.
00:49:32 --> 00:49:37 Yeah. The Ark in the setting seems to be more like the enclave or your settlement
00:49:37 --> 00:49:43 that you... Your home base or the little settlement that you live with a bunch
00:49:43 --> 00:49:45 of other survivors in Wasteland.
00:49:45 --> 00:49:50 What about Din, though? Let's create our Din. Okay. We'll let everybody else
00:49:50 --> 00:49:52 figure it out, but we need a Din. Now, the Din...
00:49:53 --> 00:49:58 Communal or is it just my individual one? I'd have to look at that because I
00:49:58 --> 00:50:02 don't know where that is on character. Confirmative.
00:50:02 --> 00:50:06 Let's see, going through... I don't even know if it's on character.
00:50:06 --> 00:50:09 No, it's develop a mutant, develop your ark, or your den.
00:50:10 --> 00:50:14 When you sleep, you are a potential victim, incapable of protecting yourself and your gear.
00:50:15 --> 00:50:18 Choose where you sleep and who you sleep next to, carefully.
00:50:19 --> 00:50:22 Note the location of your den on your character sheet.
00:50:22 --> 00:50:29 Here, you can also keep any gear, grub, and water or bullets that you can't bring with you.
00:50:29 --> 00:50:35 You have have to keep a record of everything you have in your den your den should
00:50:35 --> 00:50:43 be located in the ark or just outside of it you can share a den with other pcs or npcs if you trust them,
00:50:44 --> 00:50:47 it's a good idea to hold off choosing your den
00:50:47 --> 00:50:51 until after you have created your yeah so basically it's like after you've created
00:50:51 --> 00:50:54 the like the ark setting then you can it kind of gives you an idea of like where
00:50:54 --> 00:50:59 what like neighborhood or what what section of the the arc you're you're living
00:50:59 --> 00:51:03 in so that again that might be something that we may not want to cover yeah
00:51:03 --> 00:51:05 yet in this roll-up because,
00:51:06 --> 00:51:09 that would require i feel like that's more of a campaign thing yeah.
00:51:11 --> 00:51:15 Nope i think we're about done i mean there's honestly there's really some cool
00:51:15 --> 00:51:21 um we could get we could get some armor or some gear and stuff if but because
00:51:21 --> 00:51:24 we got the we still got We got some starting bullets, but.
00:51:24 --> 00:51:28 Yeah, honestly, we can just go through some thoughts here.
00:51:29 --> 00:51:32 You know, I think definitely something I want to talk about when we go back
00:51:32 --> 00:51:40 on is I think the mutation table is super fun. And that's a nice issue with this.
00:51:41 --> 00:51:46 What do you like about the book so far? Honestly, I'm down for this game.
00:51:46 --> 00:51:50 I would like if I was going to, whenever I'm going to run this,
00:51:50 --> 00:51:54 I probably won't use the system or like the setting like at its core.
00:51:54 --> 00:51:58 I might actually I've been kind of playing with the idea of running a Gamma
00:51:58 --> 00:52:03 World style post-apocalypse that's like after my superhero setting.
00:52:04 --> 00:52:07 So like kind of in like the far future of my superhero setting, kind of like Command-y.
00:52:08 --> 00:52:10 The Last Boy, like like the that dc comic that was
00:52:10 --> 00:52:13 like it's set in the dc universe but it's like in the far future
00:52:13 --> 00:52:16 where like a cataclysm has like created a planet of
00:52:16 --> 00:52:20 the ape style post-apocalypse world yeah and so
00:52:20 --> 00:52:24 i'd probably use this for that just i just changed the the setting a bit just
00:52:24 --> 00:52:28 so it's not like mutant year zero specifically but it's like my own like original
00:52:28 --> 00:52:33 kind of like apocalypse of what happened and such but like otherwise it's not
00:52:33 --> 00:52:37 a whole lot to change i again i a fan of voss and the year zero system, so.
00:52:38 --> 00:52:40 Yeah. Yeah, I really like this.
00:52:41 --> 00:52:45 Yeah, yeah, definitely highlights for me. I thought the mutations were cool.
00:52:45 --> 00:52:50 I was kind of hoping to get insect wings, but, you know, it didn't happen.
00:52:51 --> 00:52:59 You could always expend a, here, just roll to see if you would have gotten it, if it's expended.
00:52:59 --> 00:53:03 All right, I will. The one that got away. So again, I'm going to foundry for
00:53:03 --> 00:53:07 this because it's got a nice little macro set up.
00:53:07 --> 00:53:10 Okay, I am going to roll another mutation.
00:53:12 --> 00:53:16 And I got spores. I would have had that.
00:53:16 --> 00:53:20 You have hidden spore sacs on your body, capable of spraying spore clouds against
00:53:20 --> 00:53:23 targets and up to a near distance.
00:53:23 --> 00:53:26 Spores can make your victim's eyes sting, skin itch.
00:53:26 --> 00:53:30 They stink horribly and make the victim choke or suffer severe nausea,
00:53:30 --> 00:53:37 obscure you, hide you in a cloud that you escape from the conflict without rowing. So, that was cool.
00:53:37 --> 00:53:40 Yeah, but that's neat. Now, there's tons of stuff that, you know,
00:53:41 --> 00:53:42 for the row up here, we're not going over.
00:53:42 --> 00:53:49 There's a whole chapter over the arc, zone travel, your job as a game master,
00:53:49 --> 00:53:54 which is kind of, you know, every book has it, but each game has kind of a little differences.
00:53:55 --> 00:54:01 Threats against the arc, so let's see, what else we got here creating the zone
00:54:01 --> 00:54:08 but this is defined oh chris what oh come on come on go to page 160.
00:54:10 --> 00:54:15 Actually there's more before that why don't you just go to page 155 on creating
00:54:15 --> 00:54:21 the zone oh this is the bomb guys yeah this is the this is like what i would
00:54:21 --> 00:54:23 use for like again this like for that,
00:54:24 --> 00:54:27 If I was running this game, yeah, this is like stuff I'd like.
00:54:28 --> 00:54:34 Artifacts, yeah, like rot levels, threats in the zone, artifacts that you can find, ruins.
00:54:35 --> 00:54:40 Yeah, this is cool. And if you go over to page 160, that's where it's really
00:54:40 --> 00:54:42 cool here. Yeah, 160. Loot elements.
00:54:43 --> 00:54:47 Final rest, D6 shell, graves marked by pieces of scrap. Who is buried here?
00:54:48 --> 00:54:52 Oh, the encounters. Yeah, basically they're like random encounters in the wasteland. I like that.
00:54:53 --> 00:54:58 41. A metal side says alone left of old age does it show the way to something
00:54:58 --> 00:55:01 or warn of danger so there's ruins,
00:55:02 --> 00:55:05 it's just so neat I love the tables in this
00:55:05 --> 00:55:08 yeah so remind the 42 the
00:55:08 --> 00:55:11 wreck the remains of an old vehicle of a small old
00:55:11 --> 00:55:14 vehicle rusted beyond repair its metal husk is
00:55:14 --> 00:55:20 still intact has someone sought shelter there yeah the threats are pretty cool
00:55:20 --> 00:55:28 and you looked at the monsters oh yeah yeah the more locks and beast monsters
00:55:28 --> 00:55:31 or beast mutants and doom cultists and,
00:55:32 --> 00:55:38 Yeah, scrap oracles. Helldivers or drivers, not helldivers. Automatons.
00:55:40 --> 00:55:43 Red menace. Oh, acid grass.
00:55:44 --> 00:55:49 A field of tall grass. A sharp smell hangs in the air, and in the undergrowth
00:55:49 --> 00:55:52 remains the dead animals can be seen.
00:55:52 --> 00:55:57 The grass moves back and forth as if in the wind, despite the air being dead calm here.
00:55:57 --> 00:56:01 The grassy field is actually a predatory plant. if
00:56:01 --> 00:56:04 anyone if any animal or mutant walk into the grass it
00:56:04 --> 00:56:07 will start to entangle itself into the victim's
00:56:07 --> 00:56:10 feet and legs and gear and then the grass
00:56:10 --> 00:56:16 starts to excrete a potent acid wow oh and then there's air jellies yeah next
00:56:16 --> 00:56:23 to the automaton yeah air jellies are strange creatures translucent fleshy bubbles
00:56:23 --> 00:56:29 like jellyfish palm size thin long feelers that hang down from their body their main body.
00:56:29 --> 00:56:34 They are lighter than air and hover, blowing wherever the wind takes them.
00:56:34 --> 00:56:38 Anything the feelers touch or come into contact is covered with sticky acid
00:56:38 --> 00:56:42 liquid, not harmful to human skin, but corrosive to metal.
00:56:43 --> 00:56:46 Seed pods, gutfish, killer tree, mountain mosquitoes.
00:56:47 --> 00:56:50 The gutfish is horrifying because it's basically it's like that little fish
00:56:50 --> 00:56:52 that goes into your urethra.
00:56:53 --> 00:56:57 It's that parasite in South America that they warn you about.
00:56:57 --> 00:57:03 Yeah. Maybe it doesn't go in that, but if you're eating rot water,
00:57:04 --> 00:57:06 you have a chance of getting a gut fish infection.
00:57:06 --> 00:57:08 What about mind mosquitoes?
00:57:08 --> 00:57:12 Yeah, I saw that too. I was like, what the fuck is a mind mosquito?
00:57:12 --> 00:57:15 Anyone moving through an area with mind mosquitoes starts to feel depressed
00:57:15 --> 00:57:20 and despondent. The victims feel a growing urge to sit down and do nothing.
00:57:21 --> 00:57:26 Arthrax, no! Oh my God, they're psychic vampires on top of bloodsuckers. Mm-hmm.
00:57:27 --> 00:57:31 So they just. Oh God, here's another one. Scrap crows.
00:57:32 --> 00:57:34 Big ash feathered. Okay, I thought that, I thought, for some reason,
00:57:34 --> 00:57:38 I thought that was like a scarecrow thing. So it was like a scrap metal monster. Yeah.
00:57:39 --> 00:57:43 Yeah, there's just a whole bunch. Razorbacks. Oh, that's, that's when you got
00:57:43 --> 00:57:47 to toss into your Ohio, Dread Ohio one, like the Razorbacks.
00:57:47 --> 00:57:51 Cause like, it's just Hogzilla all over again. Like, it's just, it got worse.
00:57:51 --> 00:57:53 It never got better. No.
00:57:54 --> 00:57:58 Oh, and then there's Zone possums. we'll use the zone rats.
00:58:01 --> 00:58:06 There's one final section I kind of like to look up special zone sectors there's
00:58:06 --> 00:58:11 five special zone sectors that you can place anywhere in the zone and they are,
00:58:12 --> 00:58:16 complete scenario locations that contain NPCs conflicts and events so you've
00:58:16 --> 00:58:22 already got a bunch of other ones there's like the technical one's enclave to
00:58:22 --> 00:58:25 use red market terms but there's the pure plant,
00:58:26 --> 00:58:27 the other arc,
00:58:28 --> 00:58:33 which is basically just like it looks like it's some kind of like an industrial
00:58:33 --> 00:58:38 office that's been converted or like a prison that's been converted the Nova Cult,
00:58:39 --> 00:58:46 which they'll do they bunker probably a nuclear missile underground silo kind
00:58:46 --> 00:58:52 of deal and then Helldrivers gasoline guys and mutant clans and they look like
00:58:52 --> 00:58:53 they live in a parking garage,
00:58:54 --> 00:58:57 Yeah, because of all their pointy ears, it kind of reminds you of like,
00:58:57 --> 00:59:03 they're all like fairy folk or like elves that are living in a post-apocalyptic world.
00:59:04 --> 00:59:10 Yeah. And again, I can't say enough about the art. It's this beautiful comic book style kind of deal.
00:59:10 --> 00:59:15 It very much reminds me of like, again, those kind of grittier...
00:59:16 --> 00:59:18 Comic art styles that you see like you know like the left for
00:59:18 --> 00:59:21 dead and left for dead 2 when they came out they they released
00:59:21 --> 00:59:25 a like kind of a a a comic of
00:59:25 --> 00:59:28 like an in-between sort of thing like where they like like around
00:59:28 --> 00:59:31 the time of like the uh the passing or the the sacrifice missions that
00:59:31 --> 00:59:34 when they were released uh where like the left for dead one characters
00:59:34 --> 00:59:37 like encountered the left for dead two characters in the game and there was
00:59:37 --> 00:59:40 a comic that kind of gave you like the origin of the original like
00:59:40 --> 00:59:43 survivors like how they how they reacted to
00:59:43 --> 00:59:47 the first apart when the when the the zombies started happening and
00:59:47 --> 00:59:50 it's very similar art style like that kind of gritty muted
00:59:50 --> 00:59:54 tones muted muted color tones but like very
00:59:54 --> 00:59:57 deep and strong like line work yeah
00:59:57 --> 01:00:01 there's even a chapter 16
01:00:01 --> 01:00:04 scenario you don't want to read it if you're a player but
01:00:04 --> 01:00:07 there's a scenario called the path to eden oh cool
01:00:07 --> 01:00:10 yeah so it actually even ties into like the whole eden like like
01:00:10 --> 01:00:13 the one of the overall uh overarching like
01:00:13 --> 01:00:16 kind of like what to do in a campaign in this game
01:00:16 --> 01:00:19 well look for eden because it's this fabled like green
01:00:19 --> 01:00:22 lands kind of thing yeah so i
01:00:22 --> 01:00:25 guess final thoughts what do you like so much about the system
01:00:25 --> 01:00:29 i mean i know we played i mean yeah basically it's
01:00:29 --> 01:00:34 a system i want to play i want to run it's it's post-apocalyptic it's it i was
01:00:34 --> 01:00:40 i never got into like i was too young for gamma world and but i feel like this
01:00:40 --> 01:00:43 is kind of like the next like a new generation's like version of that kind of.
01:00:43 --> 01:00:48 Game like it's very it's very fallouty it's very mad maxian.
01:00:49 --> 01:00:52 Setting wise like it's great if you've played
01:00:52 --> 01:00:54 the video game you'll it's another way of like getting
01:00:54 --> 01:00:57 immersed in that world and it looks
01:00:57 --> 01:01:00 like it's pretty open to like you could like make your own kind of
01:01:00 --> 01:01:03 like apocalypse setting like it doesn't necessarily have
01:01:03 --> 01:01:06 to you don't necessarily to use the core setting you can do your own
01:01:06 --> 01:01:09 thing with the rules that are provided which i
01:01:09 --> 01:01:13 think is a strong like a really strong setup
01:01:13 --> 01:01:18 for the system the year zero engine like we've seen multiple variants of it
01:01:18 --> 01:01:24 in our in both our podcasts between vasa and coriolis and tales from the loop
01:01:24 --> 01:01:30 even used it as well and again it's it's a i'm curious to see how it uses like
01:01:30 --> 01:01:33 how the original version played with it, if it's going to be as,
01:01:34 --> 01:01:39 binary for results as Vossen was.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:46 I'd have to double check to see if sixes are successes or fives and sixes are successes. Mm-hmm.
01:01:47 --> 01:01:51 But yeah, like, I think it's, I think it's a solid game, honestly.
01:01:51 --> 01:01:55 And like character creation, like flew by, like if we, we, we kind of like,
01:01:55 --> 01:01:58 we're, we're like just kind of messing around a little bit.
01:01:58 --> 01:02:01 So like, we, we took a little bit more time, but I think if we were actually
01:02:01 --> 01:02:06 like sitting down and making characters like that, it would go by in like less than half an hour. Yeah.
01:02:07 --> 01:02:10 Yeah. And there is a mechanic for it too.
01:02:10 --> 01:02:15 There's a mutant card deck that comes with that, you know, you purchase separate, separately, but.
01:02:16 --> 01:02:21 I think i actually have that and i also have i think the it does come with its
01:02:21 --> 01:02:29 own dice or it does so it comes it uses d6s but you can get dice like like themed dice for it that like,
01:02:29 --> 01:02:32 give you the benefit of like what a one and a six and stuff like that are so
01:02:32 --> 01:02:36 yeah and you can and we've done this when we were doing the vals and you could
01:02:36 --> 01:02:38 just basically roll dice and assign
01:02:39 --> 01:02:42 a spot to it so the cards aren't necessarily there's
01:02:42 --> 01:02:45 three different honestly there's three different types of cards or threat cards
01:02:45 --> 01:02:50 mutation cards artifact cards you could just throw a d6 and you know two four
01:02:50 --> 01:02:54 six they just use the table that they provide yeah and i did also see that in
01:02:54 --> 01:02:59 the under the like the combat chapter there was a critical injury table like we saw in vossin so.
01:03:01 --> 01:03:05 And you know when you get hurt and all that i mean there's some instant deaths
01:03:05 --> 01:03:09 you're gonna have but there's also i mean you could get,
01:03:10 --> 01:03:13 you know you could go past zero and have to roll in a critical injury table
01:03:13 --> 01:03:16 and still not die yeah and i
01:03:16 --> 01:03:19 don't know i keep i keep we keep referencing boston but like i
01:03:19 --> 01:03:21 think honestly this system specifically like the way like this was
01:03:21 --> 01:03:25 the original version i think this is like the best way to like use
01:03:25 --> 01:03:28 that kind of this kind of system of like how like how like
01:03:28 --> 01:03:33 dramatic or drastic or contrasting the the difference between a crit and a like
01:03:33 --> 01:03:39 a a a a success or a failure is is very much in line with like a post-apocalyptic
01:03:39 --> 01:03:47 survival horror or survival adventure game where like your life is on the line every step you take.
01:03:47 --> 01:03:51 Yeah. The currency is your bullets that you use.
01:03:51 --> 01:03:56 So you're kind of... Very post-apocalyptic coded, like Metro 2033.
01:03:57 --> 01:04:00 Man, he put six bullets in that guy. He really wanted him dead.
01:04:01 --> 01:04:04 Yeah, that guy was worth it. I guess that guy was worth six bullets.
01:04:05 --> 01:04:10 I think i think the art's great i like to i look forward to going more into
01:04:10 --> 01:04:15 the world and yeah man thank you so much for joining me on this this is i know
01:04:15 --> 01:04:20 we talked about it we've shown this book for probably probably about three or
01:04:20 --> 01:04:22 four years now yeah i think i've owned it since,
01:04:24 --> 01:04:27 2022 i think i think i got mine with the i
01:04:27 --> 01:04:29 had it as a kickstarter add-on oh you know i yeah i think
01:04:29 --> 01:04:32 i got it i got it through kickstart not through gen con so
01:04:32 --> 01:04:35 yeah yeah that was uh probably we got it through
01:04:35 --> 01:04:39 the boston british supplement
01:04:39 --> 01:04:43 yeah mythical ireland or mythical british i can't know what that one's called
01:04:43 --> 01:04:50 but mythical britain and ireland according to the book on my shelf so that's
01:04:50 --> 01:04:56 well we've got these characters here and if you are listening to this well obviously
01:04:56 --> 01:04:57 or you're listening to us,
01:04:57 --> 01:05:01 but if you're listening to us, like one of the podcast catchers out there,
01:05:01 --> 01:05:04 you can go over to our page,
01:05:04 --> 01:05:06 which is, you can get to it two different ways.
01:05:06 --> 01:05:12 You can go www.roadpointexchange.com or since we have a new home that I have
01:05:12 --> 01:05:15 some really nice neighbors at, you could go to critinanight.com,
01:05:16 --> 01:05:20 and select Roadpoint Exchange and click on this episode and we'll provide you
01:05:20 --> 01:05:24 a copy of Vinnie Petro and Fado.
01:05:26 --> 01:05:29 I know we've been, we mentioned Crit in the Night for a little bit and this
01:05:29 --> 01:05:34 has been something we've kind of had up and right when since September when we created our network.
01:05:35 --> 01:05:38 But Chris, where can people find you on Crit in the Night?
01:05:38 --> 01:05:42 Well, yeah, my, I guess my main website is Crit in the Night because I don't
01:05:42 --> 01:05:45 have one directly for, or independently.
01:05:45 --> 01:05:50 Well, you haven't went to GoDaddy and had it by a redirect. Yeah, yeah.
01:05:50 --> 01:05:53 But yeah, so you can find my two podcasts, Al Dente Rigamortis,
01:05:55 --> 01:05:59 a creepypasta book club review or
01:05:59 --> 01:06:02 discussion podcast where my buddies and
01:06:02 --> 01:06:05 i get together every week after reading a creepypasta
01:06:05 --> 01:06:08 those internet stories that are shared
01:06:08 --> 01:06:14 across the internet and for for spookiness and we discuss it and like discuss
01:06:14 --> 01:06:18 the merits and like critique it for like editorial like on a on a grammar level
01:06:18 --> 01:06:23 but also like read like check out like discuss things that we liked and didn't
01:06:23 --> 01:06:25 like about the actual contents of the story.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:30 And then when we're not reading Creepypastas, we are playing our own tabletop
01:06:30 --> 01:06:35 games, separate from RPX most of the time, though we do occasionally have guests
01:06:35 --> 01:06:38 from RPX on our show, called One Less Die.
01:06:39 --> 01:06:42 And we started with Shadowrun. We're still doing some Shadowrun stuff,
01:06:42 --> 01:06:48 but we have a varied list of other tabletop RPGs, a lot of D20,
01:06:49 --> 01:06:51 a lot of Powered by the Apocalypse, Oops.
01:06:52 --> 01:07:00 And other like indie games and more mainstream stuff alike. So. Yeah. Yeah.
01:07:00 --> 01:07:04 So who knows? Maybe in like in a little bit, we'll, we might have a Mutant Year
01:07:04 --> 01:07:08 Zero up there sometime. Likewise, I assume for RPX, hopefully.
01:07:09 --> 01:07:14 Lord willing. And you can find RPX at, again, the Critter Night website,
01:07:14 --> 01:07:18 but we're also on Facebook at facebook.com. So that's the Rolepoint Exchange.
01:07:19 --> 01:07:22 We're also on Twitter because I refuse to use that other name. we
01:07:22 --> 01:07:28 just abandoned X honestly with Blue Sky directly I don't even promote Twitter
01:07:28 --> 01:07:33 anymore I just go to Blue Sky I got so many followers on Twitter that I kind
