[00:00:17] And welcome to Al Dente Rigamortis. I'm Review Cultist. I'm Mikey, the U-Sands for Evil. And I'm the Gamer in Yellow. And we're here to discuss those internet stories, most creepy and most pasta, and be critically silly doing it. And tonight we have... Cabin Fervor. So yeah, Cabin Fervor, it's by Tewahe, or... no, Tewahe? No, hang on. Tewah-way. There you go. Maybe.
[00:00:47] Damn it! You should have just owned it and moved on with our lives. Yeah, Tewahe, which you may remember from last week when we read their other story, The Cottage or Auspicious. So we're doing another Cabiny one because I'm in the mood for cabin stuff of late and yeah. Would you say that? I'm starting to miss my cottage. Fair. So yeah, we're getting into the middle of the fall as of this posting, so...
[00:01:17] Would you say that you've got Cabin Fervor? It's burning in your brain. You've got Cabin Fervor. It's driving you insane. We got Cabin Fervor! I got Cabin Fervor too! It really got out of here. Shout out to Muppet Treasure Island. Yeah. But yeah, so we're covering Cabin Fervor.
[00:01:44] It's by Tewahe on CreepPasta Wiki. Or sorry, on the CreepPasta Wiki. I actually just want to double check something. Cool! I was going to see if Tewahe on his CreepPasta profile actually says, AKA his actual name. But it doesn't. I just wanted something that you could possibly actually pronounce correctly. Oh, hang on! The name... He actually has in his blurb, the name is pronounced Tewahe.
[00:02:14] Oh, so you got it. Yeah. Cool. I did get it. Cool. But as long as you try to pronounce it, it's right enough for me. Okay, cool. That's awesome. That is the best way to deal with that sort of thing. Yeah, that is from Tewahe's profile on CreepPasta Wiki, otherwise known as creepypasta.fandom.com slash wiki.
[00:02:39] So yeah, you can check out Cabin Fervor and any of their other stories on the CreepPasta Wiki. And let's dive into this one and find out what we thought about it. Starting with our initial recommendation. I will recommend it. I will also recommend it. We'll also also recommend. Ah, is this what this feels like? It's rare that we all like go into one. In the stars in line? Yeah.
[00:03:09] But you know, you know that we'll be talking about stuff that like we could potentially ruin it for each other. God! You're right, you're right. You know, that kind of deal. Yeah. Well, I mean like sometimes, I mean like it is like, you can like something and like recommend it, but also like talk about its flaws. Like, yeah, of course. Welcome to our show. Yeah. I mean like, welcome to me and the show because like, like most of the time I'm willing to forgive a story for its flaws. Yes. You, you alone.
[00:03:39] Yeah. But it's true. Not all stories can be who was wrong. No, that is a God tier creepypasta if I ever heard. Totally. Totally. Or should it be if I ever read one? Yeah. Anyway. Um, so yeah, cabin fervor. Uh, yeah. So initial recommendations, uh, fairly positive. Let's find out why starting with the rundown. So a father and a daughter flee in the night to a cabin in the woods after being attacked by a creature.
[00:04:08] Uh, the mother didn't make it seemingly safe in the cabin. In the cabin, the father tries to get the daughter to sleep on a cot while the rest, uh, while he rests on a chair. Uh, he even sings a little lullaby to her before succumbing to rest himself. Uh, the daughter unable to sleep. Here's a tapping at the window and it appears to be her mother. She wants the daughter to go outside, but something's not quite right.
[00:04:36] So the daughter, or, and so the daughter and her father remain in the house for some time. The father having a harder and harder time staying awake and out of the chair while the daughter continues to resist the temptations of the thing that wears her mother's face. Eventually, a second figure appears outside next to the mother, the father.
[00:05:00] Though the father is also sitting in the chair inside the cottage or inside the cabin, slowly becoming stitched to it. They are becoming one. Uh, the one. Like literally, that's not metaphorical. No, yeah, they are like, like literally like the daughter at one point tries to like lift up the father's, uh, uh, arm and it is like indeed stitched and like merged with the, uh, the, the furniture. So, uh, the ones outside claim that the father in the chair isn't her father.
[00:05:30] And eventually it all becomes too much. And the daughter chooses to go outside with the things wearing her parents faces. The father bound to the chair, who is in fact, the real father is helpless to stop his daughter from likely becoming the next meal to the things in the woods. Finn. So yeah, that in a nutshell is the story of cabin fervor.
[00:05:58] Uh, and I suppose we'll move on to. Everyone tolerates the grammar inquisitions. At this point, I've got nothing. Mikey, the East End Cerebral, do you have anything? Uh, I have a conjunction junction. All right. And next stop, conjunction junction. Doot doot. It was as though the chair was made for him. It's light out.
[00:06:24] And yet, as he sat back down in the plushy embrace of the chair, he felt strangely at peace with his loss. It's your imagination. It could not have been her father as he was still fast asleep.
[00:06:47] It looked as though her face was melting into a mixture of anger and desire. It was still dark, almost pitch black in the cabin. Or where it should have been. It was as though the cabin had shifted its layout. But she couldn't pry it from the armrest.
[00:07:16] It was a familiar voice, but not that of her mother. It was difficult to distinguish where he ended. And the piece of furniture began. Finn. It really feels like, um, she was trying to pull the cabin off of the, the armchair. A little bit.
[00:07:40] Like it shifted and like somehow it had like configured so that like it was part of the armchair and she was trying to pull it off. And then her dad was the cabin. Yeah. Glitch in the wall. Kind of. Yeah. Yeah. Because of the walls moving. Also, because of the context shift of you grabbing all the sentences in a story that start with words that they probably shouldn't like it sends or buts basically to highlight that there's better words to use.
[00:08:04] Um, it basically made it seem like the father just like got in to the cabinets. Like, and then like the, all of those, uh, other sentences that follow it are him like recounting stuff from the past being like, it couldn't have been like, uh, like it couldn't have been her. It's this, but like it's recounting like his wife and he's just like going through the process of like connecting everything and trying to like rationalize it. Meanwhile, that's not the actual context. No.
[00:08:33] But that kind of thing happens when Mikey just pulls the, uh, the sentences with the words that they probably shouldn't have at the beginning. You know what? I'm going to actually say gamer a couple of weeks ago. I like you weren't here and I had to do this like bit or explain your explain the conjunction. It's hard. What do you mean? Like I understand. Like it's not the buts. Cause there's always better words to use. These are sometimes hilarious results. Basically the highlight that there's always better words to use. What's the hard one? I don't have it.
[00:09:02] I don't have it written down. So I had to remember. Remember. Yeah, but you always do. It's like me in the, the outro, like for the most part, I know the outro by heart, but like I, I was like having to like recall, like what the heck you say at the end of the injection. Oh, I know. Like the few times that Mikey and I have done something without you and I have to do the intro. It's like, Oh, hi, we're, we're doing a show. It's called this, you know, like, yeah, I get it. I get it.
[00:09:32] Yeah. But yeah. Um, gamer, do you have a grammar in yellow? No, I couldn't find it. Yeah. I mean, for the most part, I mean, aside from being critically silly with the conjunction section, like story's pretty well written. So. Mm. And the whole like, like, is that actually a thing? Like, is it actually grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with it? It should. It shouldn't be. As you do it.
[00:10:02] Informally, it's always fine. But like. Yeah. In proper like grammatical layout kind of deal, it's probably frowned upon to a point. Yes. Because it's like the easy way out, kind of. Is that the deal? Yeah. Okay. I just doubled. I just checked. I'm checking online here. It's like it is often used at the front of a sentence in English, especially for weather time or as a placeholder. When to avoid it? Never. Vague reference.
[00:10:32] Do not start a sentence with it. If readers cannot tell what it refers to from the context, which is the best. And the example is it says on the sign that we are closed better. The sign says we are closed. So technically, Mikey is correct by doing the conjunction junctions and it's stories. There are. It's like it's just like like better like way of writing versus like again, like like you.
[00:11:01] I think you said gamer like there's it's there's a there's the informal way, which is like, oh, it says on the sign like we're closed. But like when you're writing, you you probably want to have like the sign says we are closed. So, and like you say, like the reason why we do this is because there's always better words that should go at the beginning of a sentence or the sentence should be structured a little bit better. But we also do it for wacky and critically silly results. Indeed.
[00:11:29] Because back in episode insert number here is what it's been. I'm sorry for me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for you, but don't get that number. Use the number that I gave you. Oh, he's going to. He's going to. Right. So it's fine. It's fine. The infamous it was a squirrel moment happened in episode 194 when we covered Wolfman Creek. Back back to you.
[00:11:58] But yes, we did like back in the back in the in the heyday. We did an episode where we did the story and it had like the best results. Like it came out of full force. It was a squirrel. And then from then on, like squirrels just do like Superman damage. In our walls. Meanwhile, in the context of the story, there were probably several paragraphs in between. Oh, yeah. The squirrel was probably like I heard a noise in the forest. It was a squirrel or something like that.
[00:12:28] Yeah. Now that we've talked all about that, let's actually cover the story. It's probably not bad to like occasionally like given a reminder of these weird little bits we do. You know, I suppose. I mean, you do also kind of cover that in your in your like outro bit of the conjunction junction reason, but not the origin. I guess. Yeah. Mm hmm. Honestly, veterans of our show know what the in jokes are from and newbies should go back and listen. Mm hmm.
[00:12:56] To all 7000 episodes or however many we're at now. There's 645. Oh, a mere 600 episodes. Super easy. Early an inconvenience. Honestly. Yeah. Get that done in the afternoon. Yeah. Clearly. 40 times speed. That's generous. Yeah. Anyway.
[00:13:21] So yeah, let's get let's move away from grammar inquisition and go to the actual thoughts of the story that we have this week. Yes. So I guess you're gonna start with the image. Um, it's good. Uh, yeah. I mean, like I kind of wish it my one my one complaint about the image like it's it looks more like a shed. It doesn't look like a cabin in the woods.
[00:13:48] Um, and I kind of and I kind of wish there was a window with a candle like that was visible. I mean, it's entirely possible that the rest of the cabin is blocked by that tree. And that's just a big. That's true. Yeah. Like that could. Yeah, you are right. That could be like just the front of it, but it does. It doesn't look like it because even through like some of the leaf foliage and stuff like the the roofs like dips down. Yeah, like you can still see you can kind of see the sky behind it.
[00:14:17] So yeah, I know I was trying to save it. It's an all right image. Like it's just I kind of wish it was a little bit more story accurate. But yeah, that's me being very pedantic on the or being being super critical of like an image associated with the story. So it could even be something as simple as just like having a candle there. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Like part of it. Yeah.
[00:14:45] Like a candle like yeah, like even like just a candle like on a little windowsill or something like that. But yep. Yeah, that's all I've got for the image. Moving on to the actual content or like the comments and quotes we have. So I got this one here also quick warning. Some of mine are going to be pretty critically silly. Just FYI. How dare you? I know we are a serious discussion podcast here.
[00:15:15] I did not sign up for the silliness. No, clearly not. Yeah. All right. So you start with this comment here or this this quote here in the dead of night. It served as a beacon for the desperate father and daughter lost and terrified a malevolent creature pursued them. It's the mother, isn't it? The monster is going to end up being the mother. Yeah.
[00:15:41] Update because now that because that that that comment was taken right as I was reading the story. The update though after I've read the story. Wow. I wasn't too far off. I mean, the monster like didn't start off as the the as the mother, but it started wearing her face later on. So wasn't wasn't too far off. Pretty sure the first time it shows up, it shows up as the mother. Yeah.
[00:16:05] But like it's references like like like there's some like malicious creature like like it's enigmatic and like kind of vague at the beginning as to what attacked them. So it's like, oh, no, it's gonna be like I've seen this movie before. Like the monsters like the thing that's chasing them is going to end up being the mother. Like, I mean, fair. But that what I'm getting at is like the very first description we get of this monster is it looks like the mother. Yes, but that's not that's not what I was thinking at the time when I was.
[00:16:33] It was like the mother turned into a monster and attack them. And then like the child just doesn't realize that. Whereas in this, the monster ate the mother or like killed the mother and took her her appearance. So it's confirmed that that happened, right? Basically, yeah, it says like the thing that's wearing her her mother's face. Like, yeah, no, that's and like then the father says like that the mother got like taken down and was like killed. So yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:17:01] Move on to the next thing here, which is shortly after that or after this, the starting sentence and quote, just as they just the thought of dowsing the candle entered the father's mind, it snuffed itself out as though the cabin knew cabins in on it. Get out. Get out now. Again, update. I wasn't too far off. No, like the cabin and the creature are in on it kind of like the or the cabin is just a separate entity.
[00:17:31] Yeah, it's just two horrible entities that they just happened to run into simultaneously. Yeah, there's an ecosystem of horror in this in this forest. This is this is just Appalachia like this. This is in my head canon. Like I know the previous story that this this author made was like set in the Muskoka's. This is just an Appalachia like this is just like a mimic creature attacking a family and then they end up getting stuck into in some kind of like variant of a garden now, which is like basically a house mimic plant creature.
[00:18:01] Yeah. Yeah. And then move on to the next thing. In the subtle illuminating flickers of the moonlight seeping through breaks in the clouds, she could see the layout of the cabin feeling her way around. She reached where the door was or where it should have been. It was as though the cabin had shifted its layout as her heart sank.
[00:18:28] She desperately began to feel her way around the walls of the cabin, gradually increasing her pace. So, yeah, at this point I was like, man, this story like really starting to give me like the vibe of like what if Evil Dead and Skinnamarink had a baby? Yeah. Like just like the creepy cabin in the woods sort of narrative, but then like some liminal space stuff going on where like doors and windows are vanishing on the characters.
[00:18:56] Or like it's like the oldest cabin to reference of the game control where because control resident just came out as of this this posting. So like, yeah, like the oldest in that store in that game, like there's the oldest house, which is like this big old building that like shifts and changes constantly like rooms and hallways and like spatially on the inside. It like is constantly shifting and changing and like the pretty old cabin then. Yeah, exactly.
[00:19:25] Yeah, this is the oldest cabin. Well, it's not oldest. It's pretty old. Yeah. Yeah. Relatively old cabin. Yeah. The older cabin. Hmm. And then the next thing I have here, the woman gave Lily a somber gaze. Why are you doing this to your mother? I'm trying to help you. That man is not your father. Lily froze. She turned around to meet her father's gaze.
[00:19:55] Well played creepy mom doppelganger gaslighting your prey slash daughter. Use that. Use that psychological horror or use that reverse psychology. Yeah, no, just like that's I kind of like this because it's like it's like like up until this point, we have no reason to think that like that the father is not. The real father. But I just like that.
[00:20:20] Like for this daughter who's like desperate and so that and like the demons just like or the demon or creature that is that is parodying the mother is like, no, I'm I'm I'm your real mother. That's not your father in there. Like no, I'm kind of creepy with it though. Yeah, the way that she was presenting herself. So she wasn't trying super hard or rather probably didn't know how to fully be human. But yes, for sure.
[00:20:50] Like it still left me like reading through the story. I didn't really know 100% which one was real until it showed us. Yeah, until it revealed. Yeah, no, it's yeah. But the next thing I have here is. The only indication he was conscious, let alone alive, were his wide, fearful eyes. She walked over to him and laid her hand on top of his desperately.
[00:21:21] She tried to lift it to hold it, but she couldn't pry it from the armrest. She stared down to see the stitching of the chair had begun to weave itself into the father into her father's flesh. Slowly, he and the chair were becoming one. Yeah, I kind of saw this coming. Not in a bad way. Honestly, yeah.
[00:21:46] And this isn't in a bad way, but like I did actually really enjoy this like when it showed up. But I was like, oh man, like I wonder if like he's going to sit down that he kept sitting down that chair and getting like really sleepy. Really sleepy. Yeah, really, really sleepy. And so like I was like, oh no, this thing's like this cabin's influencing him. Like he's going to become part of the couch, part of the ship, part of the crew, part of the couch, part of the cabin.
[00:22:11] Yeah, it kind of felt like he was turning into one of those those entities from the backrooms movie. That just still life. Yeah. Yeah, I was also thinking of like the bigger like I suddenly like was envisioning like the father as like the fat guy still life. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, no, this this definitely had like some liminal space like creepy like.
[00:22:36] Are like creepy architectural horror angle going on or like, I guess furniture or. Well, the whole cabin is weird because the whole cabin shift. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, the cabin. We have definitely like a twisted version of like the house from Encanto, where like it does things by itself and like has like a mind of its own seemingly like it's turning off and on the candle and like adding things. Hmm. Hmm. Or shifting things, I suppose. Yeah.
[00:23:05] So the whole visual of him being like melded in the chair was pretty sick. Yeah, especially also sick. Yeah, like by like it's body horror, but also like cool. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Probably should have made my one thing is like I do feel like there probably should have been more of an effort to get your dad get the dad. To get the dad out of sleeping in that chair when more than a day had passed and he was still like super sleepy.
[00:23:34] Like I know like they were they were exhausted like the night before, but like by like when it's like daylight outside seemingly. I feel like they should like there should have been more of like an urge. All right, let's go. Let's go outside. Like it's daylight. It's like and then he was just still asleep. Like, no, I got to rest some more. It's like, no, no, get this place is affecting us. Let's get the fuck out. But also like the age of the kid, like I don't even think she was a teenager. Was she?
[00:24:01] No, it's sort of yeah, it's definitely like definitely under teen like somewhere. Yeah, I'd say somewhere between like five and like 12 or 13. So I feel like she would have wanted to like get him to get up if nothing else just to make like food or like stuff like that, you know, or to find food. Yeah, an entire day goes by. Yeah, well, that's what I'm saying. Like it's a little bit of a red flag for this place. It's like I like how like the dad was like being super sleepy like longer than he should have.
[00:24:31] But again, hindsight's 2020 for us as a reader, not the not somebody in that situation. Like it might be affecting them differently. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, it would be would have been nice though if like there was even like a single little mini scene of like, okay, it's like two o'clock dad. We let's go do stuff. Are we going to leave? Yeah. Like, let's go home. I want to go home. It's like, no, I needed more rest.
[00:24:59] It's like, okay, no, I'll like, I'll look at like there should have been more like I just felt like I could have been like more of like a resistance to the effects. Oh, once it's got his, uh, it's talent stuck in them. Screwed. Yeah. It stitches. Yeah. It's not like I want the, the daughter to like try to like forcibly take him out of the chair, but just bring up the fact that it's weird that he's been sleeping for almost 24 hours, you know? Yeah, for sure. Mm hmm.
[00:25:30] Uh, and again, like later on we find out. Oh yeah, you know, this, this is clearly something supernatural cause he is just like, he's basically bound to the chair now. Like, yeah. Yes. Uh, but I'll move on to the next thing I have here. I'm not sure if you're my papa. She muttered softly to the man in the chair as she opened the door and stepped outside. Tears streamed down Lily's father's face as he looked past the candle in the window.
[00:25:58] He watched his daughter walking into the woods with a figure on either side of her. The figures looked horrendous, misshapen, inhuman. Now, see, what if they just start a little family out there in them, their woods? Like this could be just a buddy horror. Like they, these creatures just want to like create their own little family out there. Like I know like the dad in the, in the chair is like fucked, but like the daughter might be okay.
[00:26:27] You, we don't necessarily know that the daughter is screwed or going to be eaten or what have you. They could just have like a little like weird, creepy family in the woods and they just want like a, like a little human child to take care of. It is a little weird that they like just walked her back into the woods instead of just like the door opened. And then they just rip her out onto the porch and just tear into her. I think it's actually creepier that they just walk out into the woods. Like, Oh, I'm not saying it's less creepy.
[00:26:54] I said, it's strange that they did that, which gives more like credit to your idea that they're not just wild animals that just are just going to kill someone for the case of it. Yeah. No, there's an intelligence to their mimicry. So yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like these, these aren't just like animalistic things that like, like how like Bobcats will, I don't, I don't know if this is necessarily true. Like Bobcats will like their screams sound like babies crying or a woman screaming.
[00:27:23] Um, and so it attracts a person to go searching for that, for that, for the, for that person. That's not actually a person, but like, there's actually like an intellect here. That's like, they're like, they're trying to like actively deceive the child to entrap her. Um, or, you know, again, take her, like take her into the woods and like form a little like weird family of mimics, uh, of a mimics and humans. Mm hmm. Um, and the father be damned. He's now, he's now chair father. Yep.
[00:27:55] Um, or, oh man. Okay. This isn't necessarily an SNTF thing, a supernatural task force thing. What if the, the creature, the mimics on the inside, like how harking back to what we were saying earlier, like, oh, this is just an ecosystem of horror. The, the creatures are actually just trying to like, like the fathers are like, they can see that the father's already been like a part being partially dissolved or absorbed by the garden.
[00:28:21] And I'll, uh, entity that is the cabin, but the, the daughter still a lot, like still like able to like get out free. So the mimic creatures are actually good character or actually like the good guys here and actually actively trying to get the daughter out of the jaws of this garden. Now creature. Oh, just saying. I mean, maybe. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:28:43] What I'm saying is like, I like, I would love like, describes them as being horrible as like visually like horror creatures does not mean they're bad guys. Exactly. Just because they're bad guys doesn't mean they're bad guys. Don't judge a book by its cover. Of course. Yes. Uh, don't judge a book by its cover. Like just because it looks like a horrendous eldritch abomination against God and nature doesn't mean it is this horrible thing like on the inside.
[00:29:13] Like, I mean, it probably is horrible and horrifying on the inside, but like, I mean, like intellectually and like mentally and spiritually, it might be a really like benevolent entity. It's just takes on a malevolent looking appearance. Um, we're trying to say here is I would love a, I want more body horror or not, but I would like, I want more buddy horror. Yeah.
[00:29:38] And this story could have really like just turned itself on its head and just have a buddy horror at the end of this. I mean, it's still horror because like the dad screwed, but like the daughter now, like it's to have like a like family of like creepy monsters in the woods. Sure. She'll turn out fine. Yeah, totally. Yeah. But I'll move on to the next thing here. And this is the last thing I have for the story. Uh, this is at the end.
[00:30:03] So throughout the story, like we've been getting like these little like lullabies and then the story kind of ends off with one. Um, so the last thing he saw was his daughter crossing into the darkness as the candle flickered out once more. Come back, come back, sweet Lily. Your life, your life is on the line. The creatures that led you astray will surely on you dine.
[00:30:29] I really enjoy creepy rhymes and specifically throughout this story. Cause like there's it, it, it like, it's like poetry. It works. Like it flows nicely through the story. Like, uh, like from the, from the first innocent, like lullaby as he's trying to like calm his daughter and get her to go to sleep in the cabin. And then like over the course of the story, like the, the creatures try to use it to like entice her to go outside with a, with an alteration or like a different version of the story.
[00:30:58] And then at the very end here, we basically sign off the story with a, a much sadder, like tragic version of that, of that lullaby. Um, and I just, yeah, I really, I really liked it. It was, it was, I like creepy rhymes and like this one had like a, a through line with the rhymes with the rhyme. Yeah. Through rhyme. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. And it's, it's used like just enough that it's not like, okay.
[00:31:25] Like, you know, it's not so little that you forget that they're there. It's not so much that it's overpowering the actual story being told. It's just the right amount. Yeah. It's used appropriately. It being there at all, just like ups the creepiness. Yeah. But, uh, that's all I have for cabin fervor. Um, Mikey, these stands for evil. What do you have? Yeah. All right. Um, so we already went over this. He has cabin fervor.
[00:31:55] It's driving insane. We all have cabin, cabin fervor actually. I got cabin fervor too. Sorry. All right. So when they first enter the cabin, we get the, there was a single chair under a dusty painting and a spongy off white cot.
[00:32:18] And then later as the daughter doesn't want to sleep on the cot, which is apparently a good idea because we get this quote here. As clouds cleared in the moonlight bathed the room. She saw the outline of a dingy off white humanoid figure. Fertively. Fertively.
[00:32:41] It dashed across the room, the metal on metal of the latch clapping open and the door swinging ajar could be heard as the gangly creature scampered off into the night. Oh my God. Oh my God. The cot was in on it too. Mm hmm. Yeah. It was everything's mimics. Yep. Oh my God. I didn't realize. And then like right afterward, then suddenly there was a second creature with the father's face. Oh my God.
[00:33:14] Oh, so that could have been that that's the creature that just took on the look of the father outside. Yeah. Like the, yeah, like the, the thing that was like, like what I'm kind of guessing here is like the cot was a creature, like a mimic creature. And then it slithered out when like no one, when no one was really paying attention. Like, hence why, like the, until, until she realized what, like what was, until she heard it, like leave.
[00:33:39] And then it went around and joined its buddy outside and began to like act like the father. Oh, that's so, I did not realize that. That is. Yeah. This is the same. Like I even had like the same texture, like coloration is the, oh my God, that's good. Yeah. Cause I like, I thought like the way it described it. Hang on. Where is it described like that? It describes like a metal clang of like, is that the door that like, like that it's leaving?
[00:34:08] Or is that like, cause I, for some reason I pictured like it being like, there was like a secret cellar door that it like, that's how that thing came in. But now the metal metal of the latch clasping open, the door swinging a jar could be heard as the gang of the creatures scampered off into the night. Oh God. Yes. Like I, so I was, I was for some reason, like thought that might've been like a trap door or something to, uh, but no, that's just the door, the actual door of the cabin or the main door of the cabin. And the creature was inside all along. That's so good.
[00:34:39] Wow. Yes. I'm flabbergasted. Thank you, Mike. God bless you. I'm glad I could, uh, add to the creepiness by pointing out the creepiness. Yeah. That's why we do this. Cause like sometimes, sometimes one of us doesn't catch something when we're reading a story. I'm not going to lie. I don't think I read that paragraph. Cause I don't remember that happening.
[00:35:09] I think I accidentally skipped that paragraph when I was scrolling through here and reading. Wow. Cause I would have remembered that. Yeah. It seemed important. Yeah. A little bit. Yeah. Yes. So, yeah. Uh, I liked how the, basically the cot would have done the same thing as the chair likely. Um, if she had gone to sleep in it.
[00:35:37] Does that mean that the chair, I mean, obviously the chair is something supernatural, but like, I thought it would have been like part of the actual, like, like the cabin as a whole, but like, maybe the chair was also a mimic and that's just how it, it, it, it. It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like deathbed. The bed that kills. Okay. The house shifts. So there's something weird with the house. Sure. But these could be like micro entities within the entity of the house.
[00:36:04] Again, this is, yeah, it's like, um, so the, the, the main cabin is, um, is, is the mother mimic. and then like the thing that killed their mother and assumed her form and the chair and the cot are like the elder siblings of the elder offspring of the cabin creature and then like the candle and the painting on the wall because there's also a painting on the wall that was like kind of moving a little bit those are like the baby mimics
[00:36:34] honestly I don't hate that it's a mimiccosm that's pretty safe like a microcosm which is like an ecosystem it's like a micro ecosystem the mimic ecosystem here like everything's mimics it's mimic world mimics game yeah yeah alright so that's the end of my actual thoughts that's such a good send off god damn
[00:37:04] sorry I'm still blown away gamer like you might as well just pack it up I don't think you can you can talk about that I mean you're right you're absolutely right I have almost nothing left to talk about because I basically chimed in with all of my notes alright what do you have left um well right at the start uh when I started reading this this is right after the first sentence it says in the dead of night it served as a beacon for the desperate father and daughter lost and terrified
[00:37:34] a malevolent creature persuaded them so because of how I first read that um for all of my notes I referred to the father as lost and the daughter as terrified because that is clearly their names okay it served as a beacon for the desperate father and daughter lost and terrified a malevolent creature persuaded how does something read out of like Greek mythology like like like how like like how um how like uh
[00:38:03] Ares is like uh Ares the god of war his sons are are Deimos and Phobos I thought Kratos was a god of war no no really I mean in the video games like Kratos is a god of war but there are other gods of war ah the games I actually haven't uh
[00:38:33] but yeah um like again like getting to my point here it's like yeah that's something out of Greek myth it's like and then lost and terrified um in the woods in the woods by malevolent a creature of the forest they're all just named after like just descriptors of like their their emotional feelings or they're all they're all like archetypes of like those emotions or those like feelings yeah
[00:39:03] it's just like all the seven dwarves god damn tell me I'm wrong uh no I refuse yep uh and then honestly the only other note I have is just like I like the partly liminal aspect of the house and like the loss of time that's happening because like that might be why uh terrified doesn't bring up that lost is sleeping for days is because like to her
[00:39:31] it doesn't seem like a long time even though like the sun has come up and set even though it probably only felt like an hour or two yeah there is like a loss of time that's going yeah there's definitely some again there's definitely some like manipulation when they get into the cabin like there's something like affecting them for sure it like sets and leaves a lot of questions as to like what's going on with all of this but like I do not need the answers to enjoy the ride that's being presented to us
[00:40:01] yeah no it's perfectly fine as is like for sure yep and that's yeah what no that's it okay that's about all got left all right um then I suppose we'll move on two final thoughts and just wrap this whole thing up um yeah I'm gonna continue recommending it um it it continues to cement my my feelings of uh the scary the scary be woods y'all
[00:40:33] so that's a little bit of my dyslexia kicking in wow that got me harder than it should have um the woods be scary yo yeah um yeah the story was a nice dark tragic cabin in the woods creepypasta uh I mentioned it earlier but it felt very much in line with something out of the evil dead series um with a little bit of like liminality going on as well but like the evil dead also sometimes has that as uh in
[00:41:02] I think in the earlier movies like there was some like some cabin fuckery going on so um yeah honestly this could just be like like again like a story set in like the evil dead universe and they just don't realize that like somebody was tampering with the uh the necronomicon and summoning deadites in that cabin uh before the before terrified lost showed up yes I'm glad that you're unheard of that now although to be fair like terrified does have a name um because in the
[00:41:32] lullaby they they constantly refer to her as lily and even in the at the end like the it almost kind of cements that like yeah lily is her name because the father is even uh like referring to it like as if with that final lullaby piece but well the name could just be part of the lullaby and that's it like because it's saying like sweet lily lay on the river's bed like that could be like a like a plant kind of deal yeah yeah but then
[00:42:16] to more people than just people named mary that is true yeah but the narrator does refer to her as lily so i understand that it is her name that being said her name is terrified to me i do like yeah i do like again it adds like an extra bit of like it makes it makes a story like more of like a mythos sort of story or like a kind of story sort of like hansel and gretel or something out of like again greek myth like just like one of
[00:42:46] those kind of kind of tales like almost like a cautionary tale kind of thing and it does actually describe how the characters are because like the father was lost to the chair pretty immediately and she was terrified the entire time no exactly yeah um but yeah uh yeah otherwise yeah um floored i didn't catch that like the cot was also a mimic
[00:43:16] and that's why it like that's so good it was just such a yeah again i again i liked i liked the creatures like um uh operations like like how they were like operating against these against their prey um like gaslight like they honestly they're very much in line with like mimics and like shapeshifters like just gaslighting their enemy like gaslighting their prey um so yeah really enjoyed it uh mikey your
[00:43:46] final thoughts uh well i i like the mimics uh i liked the horror aspect of the father being consumed by the chair yes um and then uh the cabin may or may not be liminal uh or just alive well the the painting itself
[00:44:16] might be the thing making the cabin alive because in the painting it shifted and the cabin had a smile or something oh yeah you're right yeah yep so um like i like all the the different little nuances of horror that are in here that aren't explained yeah because we don't need an explanation they're just there this this is weird because like usually you guys
[00:44:45] like want more explanations on things and like you guys are actually like satisfied with this one well yeah we we want more when it just it leaves you wanting but this is like we understand that these are weird creatures that are they prey upon people and they they transform and we kind of know we know enough about them that we don't need to ask more when a story comes out with a creature and it just like it just like attacks you and runs away and barely describes them it's like
[00:45:15] well I know nothing about that like then I need to know more but these guys like there's enough meat there that I'm satisfied yeah yeah yeah so I'm still gonna recommend this all right and gamer yeah I'm yeah
[00:45:45] no joking aside though I enjoyed the read honestly the whole loss of terrified thing was honestly a gag but I enjoyed it creatures are cool the cabin is dangerous I liked that me as a reader I didn't know until pretty close at the end which is actually the safe choice like I would not have been super surprised if she walked outside and her mother and father hugged her and then they
[00:46:14] ran back to the car and went home I wouldn't have been surprised because it could have went either way and I like that because a lot of the time when we're reading stories like us as the reader we have way more information than the characters do but in this case we don't we have I enjoyed
[00:46:44] this one cool all right so yeah I guess roundhouse recommendations to the face all three of us recommend this one so go check it out and that's it for tonight if you like what you heard the bonus of this go check
[00:47:14] out Muppet Treasure Island for because I mean we lost the late great Tim Curry who was also in that movie absolutely and his acting choice in that movie to play a human Muppet was amazing have you heard of that so in the various Muppet movies that there was sort
[00:47:44] of like a dynamic of Tim Curry was the main human character in Muppet Treasure Island and what is his name from Muppet Christmas Carol Michael Kane yes Michael Kane was the main human character as Ebeneezer in Muppet Christmas Carol and there's this thing online where Michael Kane when he was acting
[00:48:14] that movie he went with the concept of like he's treating all the Muppets as human actors yes he's treating them with the same respect and the same quality as if he was acting alongside human actors in Muppet Treasure Island Tim Curry was just playing a Muppet in human form
[00:48:44] that was his head can of how to play this yeah I think that's sort of like the idea is like like where it's like that that was his way of acting with Muppets was just being a Muppet himself that's awesome so because yeah there is something you have to do to get past the fact that you're talking to Phil yeah you have to emote to felt yeah but yeah so that's not the story not the story but like just again though yeah and again we're very
[00:49:14] recently we lost Tim Curry so like yeah if like if you need even post a wiki um descriptions or links will be in the show notes below
[00:49:44] but uh yeah um that's it for tonight if you like what you heard or if you didn't leave a comment in the comment section below wherever this gets posted some of us are on blue sky mikey is at the e stands for evil and i'm at review cultist you where you can also leave suggestions for other creep pastas scps spooky things you
