[00:00:05] Oh, hello and welcome to Al Dente Rigamortis. I'm Review Cultist.
[00:00:22] And I'm the Gamer in Yellow.
[00:00:24] And we're here to discuss those internet stories, most creepy and most pasta, and be critically silly doing it.
[00:00:29] And tonight we have...
[00:00:31] Hell Bell.
[00:00:32] And it's never not weird when I say my name right after you.
[00:00:37] No, it indeed isn't. Yeah, unfortunately this week, Mikey, E stands for Evil, could not attend.
[00:00:43] He's going off to visit some demon family out in the universe.
[00:00:47] So, but we are pressing on with a Pokepasta.
[00:00:53] You know, it's summer. I usually kind of actually attribute the summer to like anime stuff and like Pokemon stuff of that for some reason.
[00:01:00] So I was like, oh, we should find a Pokemon based creep pasta.
[00:01:04] It works.
[00:01:05] Yeah.
[00:01:06] So we found this one Hell Bell by Zancrew on creeppasta.wiki.
[00:01:11] And yeah, before we dive too far into it, we should give our initial recommendations as always.
[00:01:18] I'm going to partially recommend this one.
[00:01:21] I'm going to partially recommend this one.
[00:01:23] Yeah.
[00:01:24] Yeah.
[00:01:25] Same.
[00:01:26] Sames.
[00:01:29] Well, our thoughts might sway each other one way or another by the end of this.
[00:01:33] Yeah, indeed.
[00:01:33] So, well, let's find out why we gave that.
[00:01:37] That's why we gave that mid recommendation.
[00:01:42] Wishiwashi recommendation.
[00:01:43] Yeah, that Wishiwashi partial recommendation for this.
[00:01:45] Wishiwashi sounds like a Pokemon.
[00:01:47] I mean, honestly, that could be.
[00:01:49] Wishiwashi.
[00:01:52] Wabafet.
[00:01:55] Wishiwashi.
[00:01:56] But yeah, let's find out why starting with the rundown featuring Nair.
[00:02:02] So Nair receives a bunch of Pokemon cards and games after her older brother gets fed up
[00:02:08] and tired of the series because of the supposed lackluster status they they have for Generation
[00:02:16] four, which was Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl.
[00:02:21] His loss is her gain, however, as among other things, Nair gets her brother's copy of Pokemon
[00:02:28] Diamond, which she really wanted initially, but had to settle for getting Pearl since her
[00:02:34] bro got there first.
[00:02:35] And she just really likes the legendary from Diamond more than the one from Pearl.
[00:02:40] Dialga versus Palkia.
[00:02:43] Um, bro's game file has been augmented with action replay cheats and codes, giving him
[00:02:50] all the Pokemon in the Pokedex and a bunch of level 100 legendaries.
[00:02:55] After playing around with these cheat codes and and this game file, Nair decides to do some
[00:03:00] trading on the uh, the Pokemon trading center or the trading system, which you can do seeing
[00:03:07] seeing what random Pokemon they can get from randos around the world.
[00:03:11] She puts up a trade for one of her 100 level 100 Rayquazas for a random Bronzong.
[00:03:20] And after a bit actually gets a bite, the the Bronzong is named Hellbell title drop.
[00:03:28] Uh, also Bronzong is a bell Pokemon, so it fits, um, from a user named BLs.
[00:03:34] The this this makes Nair initially very nervous and uneasy as they are a bit religious and
[00:03:43] the naming conventions are a tad sacrilegious.
[00:03:46] Even more so with the stats of the Bronzong being all 666.
[00:03:50] The strangeness continues further when she tries to release the Pokemon because she doesn't
[00:03:56] like the name and stuff like that.
[00:03:57] And she's just like, I'm not going to use this.
[00:03:59] So she tries to like release the Pokemon in the in the system in the in the game's mechanic
[00:04:04] to release a Pokemon, but she can't.
[00:04:06] And in fact, it's holding some messages addressed at least seemingly to her character.
[00:04:12] Uh, it wants her to take it somewhere, uh, specifically to the lost tower area in the
[00:04:19] the game's world.
[00:04:20] Following along, she can't fly directly to this location, which you can do normally in
[00:04:25] the game, but she can get to like the closest location and then walk there.
[00:04:28] And as she approaches the lost tower area, she notices, uh, NPC sprites, uh, are all missing.
[00:04:34] Save for a crazed old man sprite running around repeatedly shouting, ring the bell, ring the
[00:04:40] bell over and over and over again.
[00:04:44] Uh, reaching the tower, a haunting bell sound rings and a hole opens up.
[00:04:50] In the center of the, uh, the base of the tower, which Nair walks into with her character.
[00:04:55] Uh, the sound of the bell ringing, continuing down below is a twisted dark red version of
[00:05:02] the place where the Holy Arceus, the like God Pokemon usually stands in its temple or in
[00:05:09] its, uh, in its, uh, location in the game.
[00:05:11] And it's in this strange new like level area, uh, that Nair meets a gentleman sprite who thanks
[00:05:18] them for returning hell bell.
[00:05:21] They want to know their, uh, Nair's name.
[00:05:24] And at first Nair gives or starts to give the character's name, but the sprite stops her and
[00:05:32] asks for her name specifically.
[00:05:36] Unable to really like stop themselves.
[00:05:38] They sign their name in the DS touchscreen and then blow on it as though it were actual ink to let
[00:05:46] dry.
[00:05:47] Doing this reveals that her soul now belongs to the man who is the gentleman sprite as the old
[00:05:54] character sprite she has been playing with transforms into one of Nair's likeness.
[00:06:02] Then Hellbell uses imprisonment on her, on her sprite and the DS dies shortly after.
[00:06:10] Now Nair doesn't eat, doesn't drink, can't eat, can't drink, and doesn't sleep much as she is bound
[00:06:18] or as she is a bound soul to the devilish fiend that was the gentleman sprite and Hellbell.
[00:06:24] Uh, she doesn't know where Hellbell is now, but suspects they're out there somewhere in the
[00:06:29] trading system and warns the reader about making such suspicious trades.
[00:06:35] Finn.
[00:06:36] So, yeah, that was, uh, the rundown for Hellbell.
[00:06:39] And, uh, I suppose we'll move on to...
[00:06:42] Everyone, Tolerate Instagram Inquisitions!
[00:06:45] At this point, uh, I've got a couple.
[00:06:47] I'm gonna start with one that's, like, really, like...
[00:06:50] I, I, like, I, I saw it and I was like,
[00:06:52] that's wrong.
[00:06:54] Um, and it's, uh, it's actually a Pokemon's name.
[00:06:57] Oh, really?
[00:06:58] Yeah, so, uh, here, here's the...
[00:06:59] Here's the sentence for it.
[00:07:00] Here's the quote.
[00:07:02] Um, I received hundreds of cards to add to my collection.
[00:07:06] The Blastios plush he won at King's Island nine years ago.
[00:07:10] Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
[00:07:11] So, yeah, Blastios is actually supposed to be Blastoise.
[00:07:15] Maybe it's, like, uh, like a Chinese knockoff one.
[00:07:18] Yeah, maybe.
[00:07:19] It's only got, like, a weird name.
[00:07:20] It's only got, like, one cannon.
[00:07:22] Yeah, but, like, in the middle.
[00:07:24] Yeah, it's all green.
[00:07:25] Yeah.
[00:07:28] It's just one of those, like, Chinese knockoff ones that you find from, like, uh, on various sites and such, or, like, go to, when you go to, like, a carnival.
[00:07:35] Yeah.
[00:07:36] That being said, it's probably a typo, but...
[00:07:38] Yeah, I mean, it's such a simple typo, too.
[00:07:40] It's just, like, the I and the O need to be, like, reversed.
[00:07:42] Yes.
[00:07:43] But, uh, move on to the next thing I have here.
[00:07:46] That chapter of his life came to a sad close, while mine just gained something to continue on.
[00:07:54] So, I had a little bit of an issue with this sentence.
[00:07:56] So, like, at first I was, like, continue on with, maybe, at the end?
[00:08:00] Honestly, I'm not sure how I like this sentence, like, if I like this sentence or not, because it makes it seem like Pokemon is the only thing this character has going for them.
[00:08:10] Like, and I don't think that's what it's trying to convey, but that's how I'm reading.
[00:08:14] I keep reading it.
[00:08:16] So, maybe it should be, like, some more lines.
[00:08:18] It should read more along the lines of this.
[00:08:21] That chapter of his life came to a sad close, while I gathered up the pieces and added to my own.
[00:08:28] I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking this, but it just felt like the original, like, quote, like,
[00:08:34] that chapter of his life has come to a sad close, while mine just gained something to continue on.
[00:08:38] I have nothing else but Pokemon.
[00:08:42] Oh, I see.
[00:08:43] So, you were saying, like, it was almost like she, like, wasn't able to continue on life in general without more Pokemon.
[00:08:52] Or just, like, yeah.
[00:08:54] Yeah.
[00:08:55] Or just, like, if I didn't have my Pokemon collection, I would probably kill myself or die.
[00:09:01] I don't think it's making that hard at all.
[00:09:03] I know that's not what it's probably trying to say, but, like, the way I keep reading.
[00:09:07] I've tried reading it different ways, like, in different reflections, and I keep coming.
[00:09:10] I was like, that bit of my head, like, keeps popping up.
[00:09:13] I was like, I just, I need to change this.
[00:09:14] Because, obviously, this is not what they're trying to say.
[00:09:17] But it, if I'm thinking this, like, constantly, like, I was reading this, like, maybe other people are.
[00:09:23] It's like one of those situations.
[00:09:24] It's a creep process, so, you know.
[00:09:27] I have nothing to live for but Pokemon.
[00:09:30] Yeah, I think the whole problem is the whole continue on part.
[00:09:33] Yeah, that's really what's bugging me about it, honestly.
[00:09:37] So, like, that's why I tried to, like, fix it a little bit with, like, while, like, the brothers, like, chapter came to a side close with Pokemon.
[00:09:45] But they, like, gathered the pieces and added it to their own chapter, like, kind of thing.
[00:09:50] Not, because it makes it seem a little bit more like you're more obsessed than you probably are trying to get across.
[00:09:55] At least, again, maybe I'm just overthinking it.
[00:09:58] Maybe I was, like, in a weird headspace for this.
[00:10:01] I don't know.
[00:10:03] I mean, we have little to go on at the very start.
[00:10:05] So, it's hard to know, like, the headspace of any of the characters right from the get-go.
[00:10:10] Yeah, that's true.
[00:10:11] But, yeah, a little rewrite on that would be good for sure.
[00:10:14] Yeah, for sure.
[00:10:16] So, the next one, welcome to my tense talk.
[00:10:19] Oh, great.
[00:10:20] Here's the quote.
[00:10:22] I know my brother had visited the city before.
[00:10:24] I don't know why I couldn't go there.
[00:10:27] But I didn't take the time to actually think about it.
[00:10:31] I just flew to Hart Home instead.
[00:10:35] So, I think it should be, I knew my brother had visited the city before.
[00:10:39] I didn't know why I couldn't go there.
[00:10:43] I didn't take the time to actually think about it.
[00:10:47] I just flew to Hart Home instead.
[00:10:50] Yeah.
[00:10:51] Also, I did also add a period in the sentence.
[00:10:58] Because I felt like, so, I put a period.
[00:11:01] The entire thing is basically a full, like, a long sentence with, like, three commas.
[00:11:05] So, I took the secondary comma and made it a period.
[00:11:08] Just to kind of break up the sentence into two workable sentences.
[00:11:14] And got rid of the butt after the second comma.
[00:11:18] So, it would fit better.
[00:11:21] And then my next one here.
[00:11:23] Ring the bell.
[00:11:23] Ring the bell.
[00:11:24] Ring the bell.
[00:11:24] Ring the bell.
[00:11:25] Ring the bell.
[00:11:25] Ring the bell.
[00:11:26] Ring the bell.
[00:11:26] Ring the bell.
[00:11:27] Infinitum.
[00:11:28] Yeah.
[00:11:29] That meant nothing to me.
[00:11:31] I didn't bother speaking to him again.
[00:11:34] I just continued on to the tower.
[00:11:38] Okay.
[00:11:39] Yes, there are, like, one, two, three, four, five, six.
[00:11:43] Roughly six lines of ring the bell.
[00:11:46] Repeated over and over in all caps.
[00:11:48] And I get it.
[00:11:50] It's probably a transcription from, like, a dialogue text box in the game.
[00:11:56] But I think for, like, brevity.
[00:12:00] And maybe even, like, just for, like, clarity.
[00:12:03] It would have been nice if it had.
[00:12:06] Maybe if it had mentioned that, like, for clarity that it was, like, a dialogue box.
[00:12:10] Or for brevity.
[00:12:12] You don't have to, like, add, like, every single fucking bell.
[00:12:16] Ring the bell.
[00:12:18] Yeah.
[00:12:19] It's just kind of.
[00:12:21] Yeah.
[00:12:22] Go ahead.
[00:12:22] Like, maybe a couple of them.
[00:12:23] And then, like, dot, dot, dot.
[00:12:24] The kind of thing, maybe.
[00:12:26] But.
[00:12:26] But then.
[00:12:28] You might think that the dialogue box that popped up was just two or three of them.
[00:12:32] Then ellipses.
[00:12:34] Which is.
[00:12:34] Looks a lot less insane.
[00:12:37] I guess.
[00:12:37] I don't know.
[00:12:38] It just.
[00:12:38] It.
[00:12:39] I.
[00:12:39] That is.
[00:12:40] It may be.
[00:12:41] It.
[00:12:41] To me, initially, it feels like filler.
[00:12:44] Like, you're just trying to fill some space in the.
[00:12:46] In your story.
[00:12:48] But.
[00:12:49] I can.
[00:12:49] I can also see your point.
[00:12:50] Like, maybe it's like.
[00:12:51] To, like, help.
[00:12:52] Um.
[00:12:54] Uh.
[00:12:54] Get across that this character is, like, just speaking nonsense.
[00:12:58] Or it's just gone.
[00:12:59] It's just, like, nuts in the game.
[00:13:01] Yeah.
[00:13:01] But.
[00:13:02] Then, for clarity, maybe it should actually say that, like, it was a dialogue box.
[00:13:06] Like, Trent.
[00:13:06] Like, it was pulled from a dialogue box.
[00:13:08] I think.
[00:13:08] It's where it did, honestly.
[00:13:10] Uh.
[00:13:10] No.
[00:13:11] Not that I.
[00:13:11] There was a later one that.
[00:13:13] Uh.
[00:13:13] It pops up with a dialogue box.
[00:13:14] But this.
[00:13:15] In this instance, it doesn't say a dialogue box.
[00:13:18] I think the.
[00:13:19] I think the.
[00:13:19] When the gentleman is talking.
[00:13:20] The dialogue box is mentioned.
[00:13:24] Well.
[00:13:25] Also, the only way dialogue is ever shown in this game.
[00:13:28] Is through a dialogue box.
[00:13:31] That's true.
[00:13:32] Yeah.
[00:13:32] So.
[00:13:32] It's already assumed that any dialogue would be in a box.
[00:13:35] Right?
[00:13:35] Yeah.
[00:13:36] I don't know.
[00:13:37] It just.
[00:13:37] It didn't.
[00:13:38] I didn't.
[00:13:39] I honestly just kind of saw it as, like, a little tedious.
[00:13:41] It's like, all right.
[00:13:41] I'm not going to read all the.
[00:13:42] Ring the bells.
[00:13:43] It's just like a long bit.
[00:13:44] You don't have to read all of them.
[00:13:46] I know.
[00:13:46] No, it just.
[00:13:47] Then wait.
[00:13:47] At a very fast glance.
[00:13:49] That they are all the same thing.
[00:13:50] Repeated.
[00:13:51] I.
[00:13:51] I get that.
[00:13:52] But at the same time.
[00:13:53] Then.
[00:13:53] Then what's the purpose of it?
[00:13:55] Even like.
[00:13:58] Like.
[00:13:58] I'm not.
[00:13:58] I'm not like saying.
[00:13:59] Get rid of all the ring the bells.
[00:14:01] But like.
[00:14:02] Could maybe cut it down.
[00:14:06] Even by half.
[00:14:07] I just didn't think it was that big of a deal.
[00:14:09] I'm not.
[00:14:09] I honestly don't really think it's that big of a deal either.
[00:14:11] I'm just like.
[00:14:12] I'm just putting out there that like.
[00:14:14] This seems like kind of just a filler.
[00:14:16] A bit.
[00:14:18] And you know what's.
[00:14:18] What's another thing about this is like.
[00:14:20] If this had been like a screenshot.
[00:14:22] Like if they'd use a screenshot from the game.
[00:14:24] From a game like they'd made.
[00:14:26] That had this as like a dialogue box.
[00:14:27] I'd be fine with it.
[00:14:29] But because it's like text.
[00:14:31] Like on.
[00:14:32] Like it's a text format.
[00:14:33] And some of that in the story.
[00:14:34] It.
[00:14:34] It just comes off as a little too much.
[00:14:36] Like.
[00:14:37] There's just too much of it.
[00:14:39] I will say this.
[00:14:41] Um.
[00:14:42] Looking at.
[00:14:44] Basically the size of dialogue boxes.
[00:14:46] In the bookmon games.
[00:14:47] You could not possibly fit all that.
[00:14:49] In one dialogue box.
[00:14:50] Yeah.
[00:14:51] Unless it's a situation where it's like.
[00:14:54] You'll see the first.
[00:14:55] Five or six of them.
[00:14:57] And then you hit continue.
[00:14:58] And it scrolls up more.
[00:14:59] And continue.
[00:14:59] It scrolls up more and more and more.
[00:15:01] Until he's actually exhausted all of.
[00:15:03] All of his dialogue.
[00:15:04] Which might be actually what it is.
[00:15:06] But then.
[00:15:07] That's that part where he has to scroll.
[00:15:09] I actually kind of want that in the.
[00:15:10] In the sentence afterward.
[00:15:12] Like that follows.
[00:15:13] Or like they had to scroll through.
[00:15:14] And it's like.
[00:15:14] I didn't know what this meant.
[00:15:15] So I just kept going.
[00:15:17] Like.
[00:15:17] Yeah.
[00:15:19] But it does say.
[00:15:20] Babbled over and over.
[00:15:22] For any.
[00:15:22] An annoying.
[00:15:24] Annoyingly long amount of time.
[00:15:26] Well.
[00:15:27] Congrats.
[00:15:27] You annoyed me.
[00:15:28] It takes a long time to get through it.
[00:15:30] Yeah.
[00:15:32] And congrats.
[00:15:33] You annoyed me.
[00:15:34] When I read the story.
[00:15:35] Apparently.
[00:15:37] So like realistically.
[00:15:38] In the game.
[00:15:38] There's probably like.
[00:15:40] Four or five instances of it.
[00:15:42] Per screen.
[00:15:43] Mm-hmm.
[00:15:47] But yeah.
[00:15:47] A little more clarification on that.
[00:15:49] Would not do it any harm.
[00:15:50] No.
[00:15:52] But I'll move on.
[00:15:54] From that one.
[00:15:55] Um.
[00:15:57] So I took the stairs.
[00:15:58] And the bell.
[00:16:00] Which.
[00:16:00] I now assume.
[00:16:02] Was hell bell.
[00:16:02] Considering that.
[00:16:03] Bronzong.
[00:16:04] Is indeed.
[00:16:04] A sort of bell.
[00:16:06] Continued to ring slowly.
[00:16:08] So.
[00:16:09] I.
[00:16:10] I had to fix this.
[00:16:12] So I took to the stairs.
[00:16:14] As the bell.
[00:16:15] And then the brackets go on.
[00:16:16] Like.
[00:16:17] Continued to ring slowly.
[00:16:20] Um.
[00:16:22] And.
[00:16:23] I'd almost even consider.
[00:16:25] Like.
[00:16:25] Taking the bracket.
[00:16:26] Bracketed bit there.
[00:16:27] Um.
[00:16:28] Where after.
[00:16:29] It's like.
[00:16:29] So I took to the stairs.
[00:16:31] As the bell.
[00:16:32] Continued to ring slowly.
[00:16:34] And then in brackets.
[00:16:35] Which I assume.
[00:16:37] Was.
[00:16:38] Hell bell.
[00:16:38] Considering that Bronzong.
[00:16:40] Is indeed a sort of bell.
[00:16:42] Like have that at the end.
[00:16:44] Instead of like having.
[00:16:45] Like cutting the sentence in half.
[00:16:46] Basically.
[00:16:47] And it's.
[00:16:47] Like this bracket of it.
[00:16:49] Like.
[00:16:49] Don't get me wrong.
[00:16:50] Bracketed like quotes.
[00:16:51] Or bracketed lines are fine.
[00:16:52] In stories sometimes.
[00:16:53] But like.
[00:16:54] In this case.
[00:16:55] It kind of.
[00:16:55] Like.
[00:16:55] I.
[00:16:56] Didn't realize.
[00:16:57] That I was also.
[00:16:57] Continuing a sentence.
[00:16:58] After it.
[00:16:59] Because it was so long.
[00:17:01] Like it literally went down.
[00:17:02] To the next.
[00:17:03] The next line.
[00:17:04] And.
[00:17:05] Yeah.
[00:17:05] And I had to like.
[00:17:06] Then I started reading.
[00:17:06] It's like.
[00:17:06] Oh right.
[00:17:07] And then.
[00:17:07] The continued.
[00:17:08] Continued to ring slowly.
[00:17:10] Is from the.
[00:17:11] The bell thing.
[00:17:11] That was mentioned.
[00:17:12] Before the brackets.
[00:17:14] So.
[00:17:15] Hmm.
[00:17:17] Yeah.
[00:17:17] Yeah.
[00:17:18] That'd help it for sure.
[00:17:19] Yeah.
[00:17:20] And then.
[00:17:20] My next one.
[00:17:22] Finally.
[00:17:23] I reached the end of the pathway.
[00:17:24] Which was.
[00:17:25] Just as small.
[00:17:26] Four times four.
[00:17:28] Platform.
[00:17:29] And the bell.
[00:17:30] Stopped ringing.
[00:17:32] So.
[00:17:32] I think it should be.
[00:17:34] Finally.
[00:17:35] I reached the end of the pathway.
[00:17:36] Which was.
[00:17:37] Just a small.
[00:17:39] Just a small.
[00:17:40] Four by four.
[00:17:41] Platform.
[00:17:43] Yes.
[00:17:44] I have that as well.
[00:17:45] Cool.
[00:17:47] And.
[00:17:47] Second last one.
[00:17:49] Why I was listening to this.
[00:17:51] Watching it all play out.
[00:17:53] When I.
[00:17:53] Could easily just.
[00:17:55] Turn it off.
[00:17:56] And.
[00:17:56] Turn it off.
[00:17:57] Or star.
[00:17:58] A completely new game.
[00:17:59] A completely new game.
[00:18:01] I don't know.
[00:18:03] I think it's like.
[00:18:04] Or start.
[00:18:05] Not star.
[00:18:06] I was just missing that T at the end.
[00:18:08] Oh.
[00:18:09] I missed that.
[00:18:09] Oh.
[00:18:10] Yeah.
[00:18:10] And then my last one.
[00:18:13] I was unable.
[00:18:14] To make.
[00:18:15] And.
[00:18:15] Changes.
[00:18:16] After that.
[00:18:18] I think.
[00:18:18] And.
[00:18:19] Should be changed to any.
[00:18:20] So.
[00:18:20] I was.
[00:18:21] Unable to make.
[00:18:22] Any changes.
[00:18:23] After that.
[00:18:23] Yes.
[00:18:25] And.
[00:18:26] That is the end of my grammar inquisition.
[00:18:28] So.
[00:18:29] My.
[00:18:29] Gamer.
[00:18:31] It's weird.
[00:18:32] Right.
[00:18:32] It's weird.
[00:18:33] Yeah.
[00:18:36] Yes.
[00:18:36] Let's see what I have left.
[00:18:38] You got one of mine.
[00:18:40] Which means I only got two left.
[00:18:42] Technically.
[00:18:44] So.
[00:18:45] My first one.
[00:18:45] I don't believe you got this.
[00:18:48] He didn't say anything that made sense.
[00:18:49] But babbled over and over for an annoying long.
[00:18:52] Annoyingly long amount of time.
[00:18:53] Much like when you speak.
[00:18:54] To a specific cyclist on the bike trail in Ruby Sapphire and Emerald.
[00:18:58] So it's.
[00:19:00] It.
[00:19:01] It needs an extra comma in there.
[00:19:03] Even though this sentence.
[00:19:05] Already has.
[00:19:06] Three commas in it.
[00:19:08] It needs a break.
[00:19:09] Yeah.
[00:19:09] Yeah.
[00:19:11] Basically.
[00:19:11] In between time and much.
[00:19:14] So it would be.
[00:19:15] He didn't say anything that made much sense.
[00:19:17] But babbled over and over for.
[00:19:19] An annoyingly long amount of time.
[00:19:21] Huh.
[00:19:22] Much like when you speak.
[00:19:23] To a specific cyclist on the bike trail in Ruby Sapphire.
[00:19:26] No.
[00:19:28] Because otherwise it's time much.
[00:19:31] As well.
[00:19:31] Time much.
[00:19:33] Mm hmm.
[00:19:33] Dude.
[00:19:34] Time much.
[00:19:35] Yeah.
[00:19:36] Exactly.
[00:19:41] Because that was like definitely a huge in joke.
[00:19:43] Between like you, me and Mikey.
[00:19:45] How do we both go to cops?
[00:19:47] Meanwhile, it's.
[00:19:48] Time watch.
[00:19:49] Like.
[00:19:50] Why is that cops?
[00:19:51] Because Mikey and I.
[00:19:53] So when we first got the RPG time watch.
[00:19:56] From like Gen Con a couple years back.
[00:19:58] Me and me and Mikey had the idea for a game.
[00:20:00] Which was like.
[00:20:00] Time cops.
[00:20:02] Oh my God.
[00:20:04] Yeah.
[00:20:05] Yeah.
[00:20:06] You haven't even said that that many times.
[00:20:08] But.
[00:20:09] Just me hearing time much.
[00:20:11] Made me go.
[00:20:15] It's for cops.
[00:20:17] That is the strength of memes, my friend.
[00:20:20] Apparently.
[00:20:20] Yeah.
[00:20:21] Wow.
[00:20:21] Even ones that are like within circles of friends.
[00:20:24] Mm hmm.
[00:20:26] And now it's there on the podcast.
[00:20:28] Mm hmm.
[00:20:29] Okay.
[00:20:30] And my next one.
[00:20:30] I have a conjunction junction that I put together while you were doing your.
[00:20:35] Your rundown.
[00:20:37] All right.
[00:20:38] And next stop.
[00:20:39] Conjunction junction.
[00:20:41] But each time I tried to put it into the GTS.
[00:20:46] Wouldn't that be GPS?
[00:20:48] What are we talking about?
[00:20:48] Oh, what's GTS?
[00:20:50] What is that?
[00:20:50] The global trading system.
[00:20:52] Never mind.
[00:20:54] Restart.
[00:20:55] Certainly not the greater Toronto sprawl.
[00:20:58] Yeah.
[00:20:59] That's.
[00:20:59] I really stumbled over that.
[00:21:02] Hey.
[00:21:02] It's a reference to the,
[00:21:03] the,
[00:21:04] the area,
[00:21:05] the city that we played in,
[00:21:06] in our,
[00:21:07] our shadow run game that we played on our sister podcast.
[00:21:10] One last time.
[00:21:11] Plug,
[00:21:12] plug,
[00:21:12] plug.
[00:21:12] Yes.
[00:21:13] But okay.
[00:21:14] I'll serve there.
[00:21:14] Um,
[00:21:16] but each time I tried to put it into the GTS,
[00:21:18] the game informed me that the Pokemon couldn't be offered in a trade.
[00:21:23] It was finally getting more specific,
[00:21:26] which I found oddly relieving rather than feeling a little uneasy as I probably should have been.
[00:21:32] But when I picked Slacian town from the map,
[00:21:37] the game informed me that I couldn't fly there.
[00:21:39] Finn.
[00:21:40] Cause those are the only three I could find in short order.
[00:21:44] Cause someone had to pick up the,
[00:21:46] the torch.
[00:21:47] Cause Mikey wasn't here.
[00:21:49] Did we?
[00:21:50] Yes.
[00:21:51] Did we?
[00:21:52] That,
[00:21:53] that,
[00:21:53] that Thor Ragnarok.
[00:21:54] Let's go on.
[00:21:58] Yeah.
[00:21:58] And that bit being,
[00:22:00] uh,
[00:22:00] and the reason why Mikey and now gamer does this is because I do it in his stead when he cannot do it.
[00:22:07] Yes.
[00:22:08] Because,
[00:22:09] um,
[00:22:10] there are sentences throughout the story that start with words that they probably shouldn't like it's answer,
[00:22:14] buts,
[00:22:15] because there's always better words to use.
[00:22:17] And we grabbed them and put them together into a short story with sometimes hilarious results.
[00:22:21] And sometimes not.
[00:22:23] See this episode.
[00:22:25] Yeah.
[00:22:27] I mean,
[00:22:28] they can't all be bangers.
[00:22:29] They can't all be game at full force.
[00:22:31] It was a squirrel.
[00:22:32] Of course not.
[00:22:33] No,
[00:22:34] like half of the reason of doing this is for potential silliness,
[00:22:37] but also like we're doing grammar and technically helping with editing.
[00:22:42] And that's what this is.
[00:22:43] And it's a lot better to just,
[00:22:45] uh,
[00:22:46] glaze over all of the words,
[00:22:48] sentences that start with words that they probably shouldn't like it's in their butts.
[00:22:51] Cause there's always better words,
[00:22:52] um,
[00:22:52] than doing it one at a time.
[00:22:54] Sure.
[00:22:55] Yeah.
[00:22:55] So he's,
[00:22:56] it's actually a very efficient way of doing it.
[00:22:58] Like he does this,
[00:23:00] but that's the end of my grammar.
[00:23:02] And yeah.
[00:23:03] All right.
[00:23:04] Then I suppose we'll move on to actual thoughts.
[00:23:08] So I'm going to start with this quote here.
[00:23:09] In fact,
[00:23:11] I wanted diamond.
[00:23:12] Dialga was a hundred times better looking than Palkia.
[00:23:15] And I rather enjoyed the thought of finally getting to be the one to catch it this time around instead of having to hack one or trade for it.
[00:23:24] I got to agree with Nair here.
[00:23:27] When diamond and pearl came out,
[00:23:29] I specifically wanted diamond because I liked the design of Dialga over Palkia.
[00:23:35] Like,
[00:23:36] like,
[00:23:36] even though it's like a quadruped,
[00:23:38] like kind of like a long neck dinosaur kind of looking thing versus like a T-Rex kind of statured looking Palkia.
[00:23:44] Palkia just,
[00:23:45] it's,
[00:23:45] it's too round.
[00:23:46] I liked the edgy,
[00:23:47] the heart,
[00:23:48] the harder edges,
[00:23:49] uh,
[00:23:49] look around.
[00:23:51] Yeah.
[00:23:51] I wanted the edgier Pokemon.
[00:23:53] I don't know.
[00:23:53] I just liked the spine or like spikier version of Dialga over the,
[00:23:57] uh,
[00:23:57] the very rounded,
[00:23:58] soft,
[00:23:59] um,
[00:24:00] bubbly version of,
[00:24:01] of Palkia.
[00:24:01] So I,
[00:24:02] I'm going to say this Palkia.
[00:24:05] He has like life preserver shoulder pads.
[00:24:08] Yeah.
[00:24:09] And his head is a penis.
[00:24:10] I mean,
[00:24:11] I mean,
[00:24:12] yeah,
[00:24:13] his head is a long shaft shaped thing,
[00:24:15] uh,
[00:24:16] with a helmet on it that ends at two round things.
[00:24:21] Yeah.
[00:24:22] Whereas Dialga is essentially what happens when a xenomorph,
[00:24:26] uh,
[00:24:27] latches into,
[00:24:28] uh,
[00:24:28] like chest bursts out of a,
[00:24:29] of a long neck dinosaur.
[00:24:32] Yeah.
[00:24:32] Kind of like,
[00:24:33] I'm looking at like,
[00:24:35] he has a giant head and like,
[00:24:37] has like the spiky bits.
[00:24:39] Yeah.
[00:24:39] He is way cooler.
[00:24:41] And,
[00:24:41] uh,
[00:24:43] the anthropomorphic penis,
[00:24:44] like,
[00:24:45] like,
[00:24:47] yeah.
[00:24:49] Yeah.
[00:24:50] Palkia,
[00:24:50] like it has like,
[00:24:53] I,
[00:24:53] there is kind of like a nightliness to it.
[00:24:55] Like the,
[00:24:55] like almost looks like he has like night armor and stuff like that.
[00:24:57] But honestly,
[00:24:58] like,
[00:24:58] no Dialga does it better for me than Palkia,
[00:25:01] like design wise.
[00:25:02] Honestly,
[00:25:02] I can't get past the penis.
[00:25:04] I would definitely pass on Palkia and smash.
[00:25:08] Oh,
[00:25:08] we're doing smash.
[00:25:09] No,
[00:25:10] no.
[00:25:14] All right.
[00:25:14] Moving on.
[00:25:15] Yeah,
[00:25:16] please do.
[00:25:17] Um,
[00:25:18] his save information said he had all the Pokemon in his decks,
[00:25:22] even the ones.
[00:25:24] Sorry.
[00:25:26] So that's it.
[00:25:27] Like his decks is like,
[00:25:28] man,
[00:25:29] all the Pokemon in his decks.
[00:25:31] No,
[00:25:31] no,
[00:25:31] nothing in strength,
[00:25:32] nothing in con,
[00:25:33] nothing in intelligence.
[00:25:34] God,
[00:25:35] I'm a nerd.
[00:25:36] I thought you were,
[00:25:37] um,
[00:25:38] hearing that as a different word because I was just referencing how he looks like a penis.
[00:25:44] It is dicks.
[00:25:45] Yeah.
[00:25:47] Oh no.
[00:25:50] That is definitely what they call a Pokedex in,
[00:25:52] in Pokemon pornos.
[00:25:54] Oh,
[00:25:54] definitely.
[00:25:55] Pokedex.
[00:25:56] Yeah.
[00:25:57] Are you kidding me?
[00:25:58] God damn it.
[00:25:59] All right.
[00:25:59] Moving on,
[00:26:00] continuing on.
[00:26:00] So his save information said he had all the Pokemon in his decks,
[00:26:07] even the ones that had yet to be released through wireless events,
[00:26:11] which reminded me that he really enjoyed using action replay codes to,
[00:26:16] enhance his gaming experience.
[00:26:18] So admittedly,
[00:26:19] I never had an action replay though.
[00:26:22] I recall like seeing them,
[00:26:24] um,
[00:26:24] for sale and such as that.
[00:26:26] Um,
[00:26:26] it's nice to know that every generation is going to have its own version of like the
[00:26:31] game genie or the game shark.
[00:26:32] Yeah.
[00:26:33] And everybody's got,
[00:26:34] yeah.
[00:26:35] And also,
[00:26:36] do you see what I did there?
[00:26:37] Generation or generations,
[00:26:39] like,
[00:26:39] because Pokemon have generations.
[00:26:41] Also,
[00:26:42] I'm old.
[00:26:44] Ha.
[00:26:45] Yeah.
[00:26:46] Speaking of age,
[00:26:48] this quote here,
[00:26:50] while the Pokemon encountered with this code were about as weak as if you had given them
[00:26:55] a large number of rare candy.
[00:26:57] I still recall losing to these six frequently.
[00:27:02] This,
[00:27:02] this whole thing honestly gave me like a sense of like nostalgia or like gave me a nostalgia
[00:27:07] trip because I remember using like the missing note sheet to get like hundreds of rare candies
[00:27:13] to level up my,
[00:27:14] my Pokemon to like high levels.
[00:27:16] But I recall like doing that,
[00:27:18] um,
[00:27:19] actually like really like hampered their stats.
[00:27:23] Um,
[00:27:23] like you actually,
[00:27:24] you actually got better stats by training your Pokemon up to like up levels rather than
[00:27:28] using like rare candies to level them up.
[00:27:30] You actually program that in?
[00:27:31] Yeah,
[00:27:31] I think so.
[00:27:32] I'm pretty sure that's how that worked.
[00:27:33] Oh,
[00:27:34] so a level 100 that's been cheated all the way up is probably better than strong as like
[00:27:38] a level 75 one that you actually trained or something like that.
[00:27:41] Yeah.
[00:27:42] Yeah.
[00:27:42] Like,
[00:27:42] like,
[00:27:42] and,
[00:27:43] and like they'll still like crush like a lower Pokemon,
[00:27:46] but like stat wise,
[00:27:47] they're actually pretty pathetic compared to like one that was actually leveled up,
[00:27:50] uh,
[00:27:50] using training.
[00:27:52] Yeah.
[00:27:52] That's cool.
[00:27:53] I appreciate that.
[00:27:55] But yeah,
[00:27:56] the story definitely gave me a strong sense of like nostalgia.
[00:27:59] Cause again,
[00:27:59] like I grew up playing like the original Pokemon games and I even like did get into Pokemon
[00:28:04] diamond.
[00:28:04] I think diamond and pro were like the last ones I got into,
[00:28:06] honestly.
[00:28:07] Yeah.
[00:28:08] I kind of wish I had more nostalgia reading this,
[00:28:11] uh,
[00:28:12] Greenpasta,
[00:28:13] honestly,
[00:28:13] because I,
[00:28:15] back when I was a wee lad,
[00:28:17] um,
[00:28:18] I like collected some Pokemon cards from like gen one and I played a little bit of
[00:28:25] like Pokemon red on someone's game boy.
[00:28:27] I borrowed and I beat the shit out of Pokemon snap on the N64.
[00:28:32] Oh yeah.
[00:28:33] And the Wii.
[00:28:34] Remember when I,
[00:28:34] when I got the port for the Wii?
[00:28:36] Oh,
[00:28:36] that's true.
[00:28:36] Yeah.
[00:28:37] The shit out of that one.
[00:28:38] Yeah.
[00:28:38] Hell yeah.
[00:28:39] Um,
[00:28:39] but that's honestly like all of my exposure to Pokemon.
[00:28:43] For some reason I never got into it.
[00:28:45] I,
[00:28:45] I got so hard into a Pokemon,
[00:28:47] like growing up,
[00:28:48] like I,
[00:28:48] and it's funny cause I didn't have a game cube or like a DS until like late into
[00:28:51] my,
[00:28:52] into like my teens.
[00:28:53] But like even like when in like the,
[00:28:55] in the infant stage of like Pokemon,
[00:28:57] some of that,
[00:28:57] like I was hooked on the cards.
[00:28:59] I love the movies and the show.
[00:29:01] Uh,
[00:29:02] it's funny.
[00:29:02] I vividly remember my mom saying,
[00:29:04] like telling me like Pokemon is going to like go away in like a couple of
[00:29:07] years.
[00:29:08] It's like a trend,
[00:29:09] a fad.
[00:29:10] And I look back,
[00:29:11] it's like,
[00:29:11] Pokemon is still a fucking empire.
[00:29:13] Oh,
[00:29:14] of course.
[00:29:15] Like,
[00:29:16] we find like,
[00:29:17] they just recently,
[00:29:18] like they finally got rid of Ash as a,
[00:29:21] as the protagonist in the,
[00:29:22] in the anime series and are moving on to a brand new,
[00:29:25] uh,
[00:29:26] protagonist.
[00:29:27] Really?
[00:29:27] Yeah.
[00:29:28] That's ballsy.
[00:29:29] Yeah.
[00:29:30] I think it happened.
[00:29:31] I mean,
[00:29:31] it's not to hold up now.
[00:29:33] Yeah.
[00:29:33] I think it only,
[00:29:33] I think it happened a few years ago,
[00:29:34] but like,
[00:29:35] yeah,
[00:29:35] like that it was like,
[00:29:36] yeah,
[00:29:36] they decided to retire Ash as the protagonist of the series and move on to a
[00:29:40] new character.
[00:29:41] So,
[00:29:41] and even a new Pikachu,
[00:29:42] like it's not Pikachu,
[00:29:44] but it's like a new Pikachu mascot or like,
[00:29:46] like character.
[00:29:47] It's a generation Pikachu.
[00:29:49] Yeah.
[00:29:49] I guess what,
[00:29:49] guess what it is.
[00:29:51] It's,
[00:29:51] it's a Pikachu with a captain's hat and his name is captain Pikachu.
[00:29:55] Oh,
[00:29:55] it's still just Pikachu.
[00:29:57] It's Pikachu,
[00:29:58] but it's not Ash's Pikachu,
[00:30:00] but it's like a sassy,
[00:30:01] like,
[00:30:01] and like confident Pikachu with a cat with a captain or the sailors,
[00:30:05] like captain hat.
[00:30:06] Wait,
[00:30:07] does he speak English or something?
[00:30:08] No,
[00:30:08] he,
[00:30:08] no,
[00:30:08] he doesn't.
[00:30:09] He's just,
[00:30:10] he's just,
[00:30:10] how is the sass portrayed in,
[00:30:13] in his motions and like in,
[00:30:14] in how he acts and stuff like that.
[00:30:15] Like he still does like PKP and stuff.
[00:30:17] But it's like all like,
[00:30:18] um,
[00:30:20] like it's,
[00:30:21] it's just done like through like his actions rather than words and such.
[00:30:23] Okay.
[00:30:24] Yeah.
[00:30:26] Uh,
[00:30:26] but yeah,
[00:30:27] so it's,
[00:30:27] yeah.
[00:30:28] And I mean,
[00:30:28] like,
[00:30:28] I don't even know what generation we're on now,
[00:30:30] but like,
[00:30:31] like,
[00:30:31] yeah,
[00:30:31] this one,
[00:30:32] the main Pokemon in the anime isn't a current generation Pokemon to try to
[00:30:36] like push the current gen.
[00:30:38] They're still,
[00:30:39] even at this state,
[00:30:40] this like late in the game,
[00:30:42] they're like,
[00:30:42] no,
[00:30:42] gen one,
[00:30:43] everyone loves it.
[00:30:44] Well,
[00:30:44] it's interesting.
[00:30:44] Cause I,
[00:30:45] again,
[00:30:45] I only know like bits and pieces of it,
[00:30:47] but like,
[00:30:47] it sounds like the,
[00:30:48] uh,
[00:30:48] it started with actually like one of the original,
[00:30:51] one of the new starters,
[00:30:52] the character has.
[00:30:53] Yeah.
[00:30:54] They've quickly gave us captain Pikachu.
[00:30:58] Yeah.
[00:30:59] So they probably started to show it with all the new ones and then it wasn't
[00:31:01] getting much traction.
[00:31:02] Then Pikachu showed up and then all the views showed up too.
[00:31:06] Yeah.
[00:31:07] I mean like,
[00:31:07] like it or not,
[00:31:08] like Pikachu is kind of their mascot.
[00:31:10] He is the best.
[00:31:11] He is yellow.
[00:31:12] Yeah,
[00:31:13] sure.
[00:31:15] I mean,
[00:31:15] to be fair,
[00:31:16] my new starter is,
[00:31:18] is,
[00:31:18] is a green plant,
[00:31:19] a green grass based one.
[00:31:21] So like I'm,
[00:31:21] I'm on board.
[00:31:22] So that's fair.
[00:31:23] They're the chosen starter,
[00:31:24] I think for the new character,
[00:31:27] but anyway,
[00:31:28] um,
[00:31:29] yeah,
[00:31:29] like we both,
[00:31:30] like we have like,
[00:31:31] but you still grew up with Pokemon,
[00:31:33] like in some,
[00:31:34] so like this is sort of like an,
[00:31:36] uh,
[00:31:36] has a little bit of nostalgia.
[00:31:38] Just like I had a little bit more,
[00:31:39] I think because I was kind of don't,
[00:31:41] don't say cultist.
[00:31:42] You're what?
[00:31:43] I was pokeballs deep into Pokemon.
[00:31:49] I'm so proud of you.
[00:31:53] Thanks dad.
[00:31:54] Proud dad moment.
[00:31:56] Proud dad joke moment.
[00:32:00] Uh,
[00:32:01] I was like,
[00:32:01] it like,
[00:32:02] it popped in my head to start saying,
[00:32:04] I was like,
[00:32:04] I should stop.
[00:32:07] But the slightest bit of encouragement will,
[00:32:10] we'll have it come out.
[00:32:14] God.
[00:32:15] All right.
[00:32:15] So moving on,
[00:32:16] um,
[00:32:17] from that.
[00:32:18] Yeah.
[00:32:19] So again,
[00:32:19] this story,
[00:32:20] like it's,
[00:32:20] it's definitely kind of,
[00:32:21] it almost like also reads kind of like,
[00:32:23] um,
[00:32:24] uh,
[00:32:24] like,
[00:32:24] like we're going to have a text.
[00:32:26] Let's play of this guy's interaction with this weird,
[00:32:29] like hacked in quest line.
[00:32:30] That's been added to the story.
[00:32:32] Yeah.
[00:32:32] Added to the game.
[00:32:33] So,
[00:32:34] but yeah,
[00:32:34] I'll move on to the next thing here that I have.
[00:32:38] Uh,
[00:32:39] once in the trading network,
[00:32:40] I offered up or I offered up for a bronze on that.
[00:32:44] I had picked at random out of the first list.
[00:32:48] And there's the Pokemon of the stories,
[00:32:51] titular hell bell,
[00:32:52] because it's literally a bell Pokemon.
[00:32:55] Because that,
[00:32:56] that,
[00:32:56] that's when I realized it was just like,
[00:32:57] Oh,
[00:32:57] bronze on it's like,
[00:32:58] Oh yeah.
[00:32:58] That's why it's called hell bell.
[00:33:00] Cause it's the,
[00:33:00] the monster,
[00:33:01] the,
[00:33:01] the Pokemon in question in the,
[00:33:03] the,
[00:33:03] the titular Pokemon of the story is going to be bronze on because it's a
[00:33:07] bell Pokemon.
[00:33:08] Yeah.
[00:33:08] But yeah.
[00:33:09] So,
[00:33:10] so yeah,
[00:33:10] this talking about like,
[00:33:11] yeah.
[00:33:11] So it was like,
[00:33:12] ah,
[00:33:12] it's a hell bell because it's a bell type Pokemon,
[00:33:15] uh,
[00:33:15] bronze on and such.
[00:33:17] Also classic video,
[00:33:19] video pasta trope here,
[00:33:21] getting a weird,
[00:33:22] spooky Pokemon through a trading,
[00:33:24] form,
[00:33:26] through some kind of trading system from a stranger.
[00:33:28] This is basically like this,
[00:33:31] like this game or this generation's like yard sale,
[00:33:35] thrift store story where like somebody picks up a random creepy item or thing
[00:33:40] from like,
[00:33:41] uh,
[00:33:41] from through a trade of some kind.
[00:33:43] Yeah.
[00:33:45] It's like a digital version of that or like a,
[00:33:48] an online version of that.
[00:33:50] Mm hmm.
[00:33:51] Uh,
[00:33:51] and then the next thing here.
[00:33:53] Oh,
[00:33:54] yeah.
[00:33:54] As soon as I'd said like,
[00:33:55] Oh hell,
[00:33:56] that's why it's called hell bell.
[00:33:57] Cause this is going to be about bronze on.
[00:33:59] And then it's like,
[00:33:59] long story short,
[00:34:01] I received a shiny bronze on named hell bell.
[00:34:03] And as soon as I read that,
[00:34:04] I was like title drop.
[00:34:07] We got the story and we got the story's title.
[00:34:11] Um,
[00:34:12] but the next thing I have here,
[00:34:13] I was shocked to get a shiny in return.
[00:34:16] I never got a shiny.
[00:34:19] I never got a shiny when I traded in PO,
[00:34:22] uh,
[00:34:22] traded in Pearl,
[00:34:23] but the name was unsettling to me being a slightly religious person.
[00:34:28] I'm not comfortable speaking about anything pertaining to hell or anything like that.
[00:34:33] Even writing.
[00:34:33] This makes me feel like I'm provoking a similar event to happen again.
[00:34:38] Okay.
[00:34:39] Sure.
[00:34:40] I,
[00:34:40] you do mention that you're a bit religious.
[00:34:42] So like that explains why you're uncomfortable with this,
[00:34:45] but I'm sorry.
[00:34:47] Like I,
[00:34:48] I couldn't help,
[00:34:49] but kind of scoff at the description of being unsettled by the name of a Pokemon called hell bell.
[00:34:56] I,
[00:34:57] and don't get me wrong.
[00:34:58] It's a good name and a title for,
[00:35:00] for the,
[00:35:00] for the Pokemon and the story,
[00:35:02] um,
[00:35:02] involving this particular Pokemon.
[00:35:05] But that initial reaction of,
[00:35:07] of like,
[00:35:07] I was a bit unsettled by the name and some of that.
[00:35:11] Um,
[00:35:11] it just kind of came off to me anyways,
[00:35:13] as a little bit silly.
[00:35:15] Um,
[00:35:16] it,
[00:35:17] it also kind of is a creepy pasta trope now that I think about it.
[00:35:21] Uh,
[00:35:22] and if I'm being honest for better or worse,
[00:35:23] of like being like the,
[00:35:26] the character likes reading something in a,
[00:35:28] in a,
[00:35:28] in a video game that they're playing and being like,
[00:35:30] like almost kind of like,
[00:35:33] like silly in the way they're like unsettled by what they read,
[00:35:38] read,
[00:35:38] even though like the readers is like,
[00:35:40] why are you,
[00:35:41] why are you scared?
[00:35:42] Like,
[00:35:42] why are you unsettled?
[00:35:44] Well,
[00:35:45] yeah,
[00:35:47] we,
[00:35:48] okay.
[00:35:48] Part of the problem is we don't know the,
[00:35:50] um,
[00:35:51] we don't know too much about,
[00:35:53] uh,
[00:35:53] the narrator.
[00:35:54] Narrator could be quite young.
[00:35:56] That,
[00:35:57] that is true.
[00:35:57] Yeah.
[00:35:57] It'd be a quite young and be in a very religious family.
[00:36:01] So like any talk of hell is like shush around the house,
[00:36:05] you know,
[00:36:06] like you just,
[00:36:06] you don't.
[00:36:08] Yeah,
[00:36:08] no,
[00:36:08] that's,
[00:36:09] again,
[00:36:09] that's,
[00:36:09] that's true.
[00:36:10] Like there was,
[00:36:10] there was sort of a not satanic panic,
[00:36:12] like in the eighties,
[00:36:13] but there was sort of a panic among certain religious families and stuff
[00:36:16] like that with,
[00:36:17] uh,
[00:36:18] with regards to Pokemon and stuff,
[00:36:20] especially with the gambling angle of like,
[00:36:21] or like how they perceived as a gambling angle.
[00:36:24] There was a poke panic.
[00:36:26] Hmm.
[00:36:27] There was a poke panic.
[00:36:28] There was in the nineties.
[00:36:29] Yeah.
[00:36:30] When Pokemon first came out.
[00:36:31] And so most of,
[00:36:31] I think was had to do with like the fact that like kids were trading
[00:36:34] cards and stuff like that in,
[00:36:35] in,
[00:36:36] in,
[00:36:36] in the schoolyard and stuff.
[00:36:38] But like there,
[00:36:38] there was definitely a poke panic.
[00:36:40] Yeah.
[00:36:41] Interesting.
[00:36:42] Um,
[00:36:43] now again,
[00:36:43] like,
[00:36:44] yeah,
[00:36:44] you're right.
[00:36:44] Like this character might be like very young.
[00:36:46] And so like,
[00:36:47] it may make sense that degree also,
[00:36:50] um,
[00:36:50] at this point we haven't read the part where like their soul is
[00:36:54] literally bound to the devil.
[00:36:57] And so like,
[00:36:58] maybe that's why they're,
[00:36:59] they're feeling a little uneasy,
[00:37:00] uh,
[00:37:00] easy of like writing this in case of like,
[00:37:02] they're provoking like a similar event to happen again.
[00:37:05] Like that.
[00:37:06] I just realized that.
[00:37:08] Yeah.
[00:37:09] This is all happening.
[00:37:10] Well,
[00:37:11] I know it's all happening after the fact now.
[00:37:14] Yeah.
[00:37:14] Um,
[00:37:14] it's basically just like,
[00:37:18] sorry,
[00:37:18] when I was reading the story,
[00:37:19] I didn't think about,
[00:37:21] of it as if after the events of the story,
[00:37:24] the character sat down and wrote this and put it on the internet.
[00:37:28] It was like happening in the moment,
[00:37:30] Catherine or I was just stuck in the moment for some reason,
[00:37:32] but yeah,
[00:37:33] it does make sense.
[00:37:34] Yeah.
[00:37:35] Yeah.
[00:37:35] And yeah,
[00:37:35] again,
[00:37:36] like I'm,
[00:37:36] I'm sort of like,
[00:37:37] I'm kind of humming and hawing about this opinion of this,
[00:37:39] but like,
[00:37:40] I don't know,
[00:37:40] like when I first read it,
[00:37:41] I did,
[00:37:41] I did scoff where it was like,
[00:37:42] I'm so unsettled by the name.
[00:37:44] It's like,
[00:37:45] okay.
[00:37:47] But I can also like,
[00:37:49] like the story does give us some like clues and some,
[00:37:51] like some things in it that like explain their unsettledness.
[00:37:55] So I can't gripe too much about it.
[00:37:58] I can just,
[00:37:59] it just personally,
[00:38:00] it feels a little silly.
[00:38:01] And,
[00:38:01] but like,
[00:38:02] again,
[00:38:02] we don't know exactly how old this character is.
[00:38:04] And also there are some circumstances that happen like by the end that
[00:38:08] we're like,
[00:38:09] okay,
[00:38:09] I can kind of understand your weariness now.
[00:38:11] Yeah.
[00:38:12] But you couldn't say that up front because it would spoil things though.
[00:38:16] it does foreshadow it in a way because it says even writing,
[00:38:20] this makes me feel like I'm provoking a similar event to happen again.
[00:38:24] I was like,
[00:38:25] what event?
[00:38:27] Or are they just talking about the,
[00:38:29] the,
[00:38:29] their little adventure into with this,
[00:38:31] this weird hack,
[00:38:31] or are they talking about the full events that happened?
[00:38:34] But yes.
[00:38:36] Yeah.
[00:38:37] But I'll,
[00:38:37] I'll move on for away from that to my next thing here.
[00:38:41] Clearly it was hacked,
[00:38:43] but it was,
[00:38:44] but it's what I get for offering up a hack first.
[00:38:48] This is regards to like him,
[00:38:49] him or her,
[00:38:50] uh,
[00:38:51] trading a,
[00:38:52] a cheat code version of like Rayquaza for a,
[00:38:55] the seemingly this hacked,
[00:38:57] uh,
[00:38:58] uh,
[00:38:58] Bronzong.
[00:38:59] And I was,
[00:39:00] I read this part.
[00:39:00] I was like,
[00:39:01] Oh my God,
[00:39:01] this story has a moral to it.
[00:39:05] You,
[00:39:05] you get what you give and the dangers of the cheat of cheating the
[00:39:09] system.
[00:39:10] Nintendo.
[00:39:11] Did you put someone up to this?
[00:39:14] Wow.
[00:39:15] Cause I mean,
[00:39:16] Nintendo is like,
[00:39:16] it goes real hard on like their,
[00:39:19] uh,
[00:39:19] on their like anti theft and piracy and like cheat code,
[00:39:22] cheat stuff in,
[00:39:23] uh,
[00:39:23] in their games.
[00:39:24] So that's interesting.
[00:39:25] Cause they made the game genie or did it make,
[00:39:27] who made game?
[00:39:28] I don't think any,
[00:39:29] I don't think any of the cheat code things were made by the game,
[00:39:31] by the companies they do.
[00:39:32] They're always like third party.
[00:39:33] I thought,
[00:39:34] hang on.
[00:39:35] I'm actually looking at that worst by Nintendo.
[00:39:37] And like,
[00:39:38] you know,
[00:39:39] Genie codes in the old Nintendo powers.
[00:39:41] Okay.
[00:39:41] That,
[00:39:41] that,
[00:39:42] that is fair.
[00:39:42] Yeah.
[00:39:43] Uh,
[00:39:43] yeah,
[00:39:43] it was,
[00:39:44] it was designed by code master sold by America and galoob was
[00:39:48] game.
[00:39:48] Genie.
[00:39:49] Maybe by code masters,
[00:39:50] like the same people that made operation flash.
[00:39:52] Uh,
[00:39:52] I guess.
[00:39:54] Hang on.
[00:39:54] Maybe it might be different people.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:56] Not important.
[00:39:57] Um,
[00:39:58] Oh my God.
[00:39:58] They're important people.
[00:40:00] I mean,
[00:40:00] yeah,
[00:40:01] you know what I'm saying?
[00:40:02] Yeah.
[00:40:02] This information is not important.
[00:40:06] Uh,
[00:40:06] Oh,
[00:40:07] you know,
[00:40:07] it probably was code masters,
[00:40:08] like the,
[00:40:08] the game because,
[00:40:09] uh,
[00:40:09] they've made a bunch of games.
[00:40:11] Nice.
[00:40:12] Uh,
[00:40:13] yeah.
[00:40:14] Anyway.
[00:40:15] Um,
[00:40:15] yeah.
[00:40:15] So I,
[00:40:17] I just like,
[00:40:17] this is a little like jab,
[00:40:18] like it was just like a funny little jab I had because like,
[00:40:20] again,
[00:40:21] Nintendo tends to ham,
[00:40:22] like,
[00:40:23] like hammer down on,
[00:40:25] on,
[00:40:25] on things like this or like have like,
[00:40:27] have like creepy little things for people who cheat in their
[00:40:30] games.
[00:40:31] Yes.
[00:40:33] Um,
[00:40:34] and honestly,
[00:40:35] I was re I was writing these up in the moment as I was reading the
[00:40:37] story.
[00:40:38] So like this part,
[00:40:39] I was kind of a little bit on,
[00:40:40] not on par,
[00:40:41] but like,
[00:40:41] this was also a moral for like what happens later.
[00:40:45] It's like,
[00:40:45] I mean,
[00:40:45] yeah,
[00:40:46] you're,
[00:40:46] if you're cheating,
[00:40:47] you're,
[00:40:47] you're sinning and you're going to end up in hell or your soul is
[00:40:51] going to be captured by some hell monster or something.
[00:40:53] I mean,
[00:40:54] the last line straight up says that this is a warning caution using
[00:40:57] the training system.
[00:40:59] Yeah.
[00:40:59] Yeah.
[00:41:01] Actually,
[00:41:02] I think that's literally my,
[00:41:02] like my last thing here is just like,
[00:41:04] um,
[00:41:05] cause it,
[00:41:06] cause yeah,
[00:41:06] at the end,
[00:41:07] I'll,
[00:41:07] I'll just jump over to this one,
[00:41:08] the ending here.
[00:41:09] So it's like,
[00:41:09] I don't know what became of that Pokemon,
[00:41:12] but if I received it,
[00:41:14] someone else is surely to do so.
[00:41:16] Use caution while using the trading system.
[00:41:18] Dun,
[00:41:19] dun,
[00:41:19] dun.
[00:41:19] Um,
[00:41:21] and yeah,
[00:41:21] I thought it was an interesting twist that the devil BLs above is
[00:41:27] using the Pokemon trading system to capture unsuspecting souls.
[00:41:31] Like gotta catch them all.
[00:41:33] Yeah.
[00:41:34] Um,
[00:41:36] also,
[00:41:36] uh,
[00:41:37] perhaps they're targeting specifically cheating,
[00:41:40] like,
[00:41:40] like individuals who are cheating the system or sinning.
[00:41:44] Cause they're bad.
[00:41:45] Yeah,
[00:41:46] exactly.
[00:41:47] It's like getting on the naughty list from Santa or,
[00:41:49] uh,
[00:41:49] going to the bad boys club.
[00:41:51] Um,
[00:41:52] I do wonder though,
[00:41:54] if Nair is now a slave to BLs,
[00:41:57] um,
[00:41:58] or if they are a slave now to BLs,
[00:42:02] why?
[00:42:02] So this sort of also thing from what I said earlier about like their religious,
[00:42:06] uh,
[00:42:06] like hesitance and creepiness of this,
[00:42:09] uh,
[00:42:10] why be hesitant to repeat hell bells name and,
[00:42:14] uh,
[00:42:14] or six,
[00:42:14] six,
[00:42:15] six from earlier.
[00:42:15] Like when they were writing the story,
[00:42:17] uh,
[00:42:18] is,
[00:42:18] is it for fear things happening again?
[00:42:21] Are they afraid that they're just going to double,
[00:42:23] double down on enslavement on their soul?
[00:42:26] Like they're already enslaved.
[00:42:28] Their soul's already like enslaved by BLs above.
[00:42:30] Like what more,
[00:42:33] I guess maybe like,
[00:42:35] I,
[00:42:35] maybe they're,
[00:42:36] maybe they're,
[00:42:36] uh,
[00:42:36] they're afraid that like writing this story and like mentioning like the
[00:42:40] hell bell and like six,
[00:42:42] six,
[00:42:42] six thing from earlier,
[00:42:43] it's going to bring BLs is attention to,
[00:42:46] to her and that she's writing the story as a warning out there.
[00:42:50] Just like to try and like warn people away from the trading system for,
[00:42:55] or,
[00:42:55] or from bells tactics or BLs tactics.
[00:42:57] Yeah.
[00:42:58] Cause as far as we know right now,
[00:43:00] she is able to like live her life normally aside from not sleeping or being able to drink or eat.
[00:43:07] Yeah.
[00:43:08] But yeah,
[00:43:08] if the demon that's possessing her gets wise to this and doesn't like it,
[00:43:15] I'm sure you can make it a lot worse on her or,
[00:43:16] you know,
[00:43:17] kill her and drag her to hell.
[00:43:18] Yeah,
[00:43:19] basically.
[00:43:20] Um,
[00:43:21] also,
[00:43:21] I just realized something with BLs is name.
[00:43:24] It's not just that it's like,
[00:43:26] uh,
[00:43:26] it's a,
[00:43:26] it's a,
[00:43:27] I don't know what the,
[00:43:28] the,
[00:43:29] I can't remember what that type of word is when you,
[00:43:30] when you cut a word in half and use the only part of it.
[00:43:33] Um,
[00:43:34] but it's not just like BLs dot,
[00:43:36] dot,
[00:43:36] dot above BLs,
[00:43:40] hell's bell,
[00:43:41] hell bell,
[00:43:42] BL,
[00:43:43] bell.
[00:43:44] This might be a stretch.
[00:43:45] It might be,
[00:43:46] but I just like it,
[00:43:47] like as soon as I read,
[00:43:47] like I was like,
[00:43:48] I mean,
[00:43:48] we've been talking about like the bell thing.
[00:43:50] And like,
[00:43:51] I just said,
[00:43:51] like I've said BLs a couple of times.
[00:43:53] I was like,
[00:43:53] wait,
[00:43:54] BLs bells.
[00:43:55] God damn it.
[00:43:56] It's close ish.
[00:43:57] Yeah.
[00:43:59] But I'll move on to the next thing I have here.
[00:44:01] It's close enough.
[00:44:01] You could rhyme it in a song.
[00:44:03] Yeah.
[00:44:05] Um,
[00:44:06] so the next thing I have is I selected the deposit Pokemon option and selected hell bell to release it.
[00:44:13] But each time the party sprite shrunk away,
[00:44:17] it immediately came back with a message saying something along the lines of hell bell doesn't want to leave you.
[00:44:23] So at this point in the story,
[00:44:25] I was like,
[00:44:25] is this story going to make me feel bad for this bronze song?
[00:44:28] And I mean,
[00:44:29] update.
[00:44:30] No,
[00:44:30] it really doesn't.
[00:44:31] But there was a moment where it was like,
[00:44:32] are we going to have like a sad,
[00:44:33] tragic thing where like hell bell has been traded and like,
[00:44:36] but like is now like,
[00:44:37] we're,
[00:44:38] we're going to have like this,
[00:44:38] like sad,
[00:44:40] like the whole like issue in,
[00:44:42] in,
[00:44:42] in certain way,
[00:44:43] when you're dealing with Pokemon,
[00:44:44] you're sometimes dealing with,
[00:44:45] or you're sometimes using it as a analog or a,
[00:44:48] uh,
[00:44:48] a representation of like animal abuse and stuff.
[00:44:51] Are we going to have like a fucking like abandonment thing going on here?
[00:44:55] Um,
[00:44:56] but no,
[00:44:56] we didn't get that.
[00:44:57] It's,
[00:44:57] it's actually going straight for the,
[00:44:58] uh,
[00:44:58] the,
[00:44:58] the hell and demon thing.
[00:45:00] That being said,
[00:45:01] we still don't know.
[00:45:03] I mean,
[00:45:03] it still could have an abandonment angle that we're not aware of it.
[00:45:06] Continued.
[00:45:07] Cause we don't know much about like hell bell itself.
[00:45:11] I know.
[00:45:11] I feel like it's more or less like a BL's set brings,
[00:45:15] uh,
[00:45:15] like hell bells in on it.
[00:45:17] The bronze longs in,
[00:45:19] in on this,
[00:45:19] on this,
[00:45:20] uh,
[00:45:20] on this,
[00:45:20] uh,
[00:45:20] scam that BL's is doing is like,
[00:45:23] it's like,
[00:45:24] yeah,
[00:45:24] like it's convincing kids like who,
[00:45:26] who are,
[00:45:27] uh,
[00:45:27] who trade,
[00:45:28] who trade for it to take it to the specific area that it's like hacked into
[00:45:32] their game so they can get their soul state,
[00:45:34] uh,
[00:45:34] caught by BL's.
[00:45:36] So,
[00:45:37] yeah,
[00:45:39] but I'll move on to the next thing here.
[00:45:41] Um,
[00:45:43] lost tower.
[00:45:44] It was finally getting more specific,
[00:45:46] which I found oddly relieving rather than feeling a little uneasy as I
[00:45:51] probably should have been.
[00:45:53] At least I knew where it wanted to go.
[00:45:56] Maybe I'd leave my part.
[00:45:58] Maybe it'd leave my party after I took it there.
[00:46:02] I'd like to know why this Pokemon was making my game behave so strangely.
[00:46:06] The Pokemon was hacked,
[00:46:07] not the game itself.
[00:46:09] As far as I know,
[00:46:11] a decent hack doesn't affect the game and a bad hack can make it crash,
[00:46:16] but this was doing neither more like something in between.
[00:46:22] So I,
[00:46:22] when I,
[00:46:23] when I got to this point,
[00:46:23] we didn't have anything real idea about like the devil stuff,
[00:46:26] but I really liked the angle that this was almost seemed like it was like
[00:46:30] kind of adding where this idea of like this hacked Pokemon that you got
[00:46:34] from the trading thing added in like a modded quest in your game.
[00:46:39] Yeah.
[00:46:39] Somehow.
[00:46:40] I don't,
[00:46:41] yeah,
[00:46:41] I don't know that,
[00:46:41] but like,
[00:46:42] obviously it's probably like way,
[00:46:43] way less realistic than,
[00:46:44] than it should be,
[00:46:45] but it just,
[00:46:46] it's such an interesting idea of like,
[00:46:48] cause that's how I would have taken,
[00:46:49] I would take as like,
[00:46:50] wait,
[00:46:51] did I get some weird like virus that like added in like a weird,
[00:46:54] like it added in some extra code to make a quest line in my game.
[00:46:59] What the fuck?
[00:47:01] Like,
[00:47:01] and I think even like,
[00:47:02] uh,
[00:47:03] the character does kind of suggest that in a way,
[00:47:06] or like they,
[00:47:07] they don't suggest it like,
[00:47:09] um,
[00:47:11] in a,
[00:47:11] in a blatant way.
[00:47:12] Like I kind of wanted them to,
[00:47:13] like,
[00:47:13] I did kind of want them to like have that like possible speculation,
[00:47:16] but they do,
[00:47:17] I think bring up something along the lines of like,
[00:47:21] um,
[00:47:22] where like the game had added this thing,
[00:47:24] this,
[00:47:24] this quest for their,
[00:47:25] their,
[00:47:26] their game.
[00:47:27] Or added this,
[00:47:28] or added in this new level,
[00:47:29] this new area,
[00:47:30] like underneath the,
[00:47:31] uh,
[00:47:31] the lost tower area.
[00:47:33] So here's the thing though.
[00:47:34] Um,
[00:47:35] Nair has never played this game before.
[00:47:37] That's true.
[00:47:38] That's the whole point of the story.
[00:47:39] Yeah.
[00:47:40] And for all Nair knows,
[00:47:43] as soon as,
[00:47:44] uh,
[00:47:44] the player character acquires a brawl,
[00:47:47] it goes through this event.
[00:47:49] Yeah.
[00:47:50] That's what they,
[00:47:50] they said in the game,
[00:47:51] in the story.
[00:47:52] Like,
[00:47:52] uh,
[00:47:52] he suspected that like the,
[00:47:54] the getting this bronze on or game,
[00:47:55] this Pokemon had like unlocked a part of some secret part of the game.
[00:47:59] Yeah.
[00:48:00] Like that's just normally coded in you fire a standard one,
[00:48:04] getting one that's named this way and hack didn't change that.
[00:48:07] Or even like getting a shiny one.
[00:48:09] Right.
[00:48:09] Like,
[00:48:10] yeah.
[00:48:11] Yeah.
[00:48:11] Yeah.
[00:48:12] Like I,
[00:48:12] that would,
[00:48:13] that would be a really cool angle.
[00:48:14] That's like what the story was trying to do.
[00:48:15] And then we got this,
[00:48:16] I don't even know.
[00:48:17] I liked the supernatural angle.
[00:48:18] Cause it was like,
[00:48:18] it didn't,
[00:48:19] I did not actually really see it coming until like the very end until like the gentleman
[00:48:23] sprite showed up.
[00:48:24] And I was like,
[00:48:24] Oh,
[00:48:26] the gentleman was the doubt BLs.
[00:48:28] God damn it.
[00:48:31] But yeah.
[00:48:32] Um,
[00:48:34] but yeah,
[00:48:34] so I'll,
[00:48:35] I'll,
[00:48:35] I'll move on from that to my next thing here.
[00:48:39] After a moment of complete silence,
[00:48:41] the sound of a deep brazen bell began to slowly toll.
[00:48:45] If you're curious about how that sounded exactly,
[00:48:49] start up your heart gold or soul silver game.
[00:48:52] That's that bell.
[00:48:53] That's the noise.
[00:48:54] So I actually did pull up my,
[00:48:56] my heart gold game,
[00:49:00] uh,
[00:49:00] on my,
[00:49:01] on my,
[00:49:01] on my DS.
[00:49:02] And,
[00:49:02] and yeah,
[00:49:03] like right.
[00:49:03] As soon as you start the game,
[00:49:04] there's just like a boom,
[00:49:07] like,
[00:49:07] like one of those deep,
[00:49:08] like temple bell kind of ringing from like a Japanese,
[00:49:12] uh,
[00:49:12] like temple bell that goes on for,
[00:49:14] for,
[00:49:15] uh,
[00:49:15] for,
[00:49:15] for a few times.
[00:49:16] And then it,
[00:49:17] it gets into a more like whimsical,
[00:49:18] like kind of,
[00:49:19] um,
[00:49:20] uh,
[00:49:21] uh,
[00:49:22] lighthearted sort of like nice tune.
[00:49:24] But the first couple of rings is kind of haunting.
[00:49:28] And like,
[00:49:28] it's also great with this,
[00:49:30] like,
[00:49:31] um,
[00:49:31] this story overlaid over top of them.
[00:49:34] Yeah,
[00:49:34] exactly.
[00:49:35] If it was just,
[00:49:35] especially since it's just the bell that's tolling,
[00:49:38] like rather than adding this like whimsical music,
[00:49:40] like a few,
[00:49:41] a few,
[00:49:41] uh,
[00:49:42] a few tolls after,
[00:49:43] like if it's just the tolling,
[00:49:44] like that is kind of a haunting bell toll.
[00:49:47] And also like,
[00:49:48] it's very like sharp as well when it first happens.
[00:49:51] So almost be like a jump scare.
[00:49:53] Yeah.
[00:49:56] Um,
[00:49:57] I still do wonder if the bell is actually just being a good boy to his
[00:50:01] master.
[00:50:01] Yeah.
[00:50:02] Yeah.
[00:50:03] Yeah.
[00:50:03] Yeah.
[00:50:03] In that scene,
[00:50:04] in that scene where like you're walking closer and closer in the
[00:50:07] bell,
[00:50:08] the ringing is getting quicker and quicker.
[00:50:10] That's just him getting excited to see his own.
[00:50:12] Yeah.
[00:50:12] It's like a dog wagging its tail faster and faster.
[00:50:14] Yeah.
[00:50:15] Yeah.
[00:50:16] Yeah.
[00:50:17] No,
[00:50:17] I,
[00:50:17] I honestly,
[00:50:17] again,
[00:50:17] like hell bell was in,
[00:50:18] it was an inside job.
[00:50:20] Yeah.
[00:50:21] It's like when,
[00:50:22] when a kitten goes out on the road,
[00:50:24] like when somebody is like walking,
[00:50:25] um,
[00:50:25] and there's like a hundred,
[00:50:27] like a dozen other kittens in the grass,
[00:50:28] in the long grass waiting for the,
[00:50:30] for the one that's gone out to like,
[00:50:31] like basically,
[00:50:33] uh,
[00:50:33] let them know that like the coast is clear or like we found somebody
[00:50:37] that'll take care of us.
[00:50:38] Yes.
[00:50:39] It's like that kind of thing.
[00:50:40] Yeah,
[00:50:41] exactly.
[00:50:42] Uh,
[00:50:43] yeah,
[00:50:43] I'll move on to the next thing I have.
[00:50:44] Yeah.
[00:50:45] Yeah.
[00:50:45] You fade into view one space ahead in front of my sprite.
[00:50:48] It was just a simple gentleman's sprite.
[00:50:51] And the party sprite of hell bell came out of me and stood in the space
[00:50:56] between us facing him.
[00:50:58] The game informed me that I handed over hell bell.
[00:51:03] Next,
[00:51:03] a thing popped up on the touchscreen.
[00:51:06] It looked like the part of the trainer card where you sign your name again of the voice
[00:51:13] spoke.
[00:51:14] Would you mind telling me your name,
[00:51:16] please?
[00:51:17] So that I may thank you properly.
[00:51:19] As soon as I read that,
[00:51:20] I was like,
[00:51:20] don't do it.
[00:51:21] That serves the devil.
[00:51:23] And I did that jokingly,
[00:51:26] but then update.
[00:51:27] Wait,
[00:51:28] he was actually the devil.
[00:51:32] I mean,
[00:51:33] that's what I realized BLs.
[00:51:34] Ah,
[00:51:35] fuck.
[00:51:36] And then we get the whole,
[00:51:38] just catch that he was Beelzebub at the end.
[00:51:41] Oh,
[00:51:41] no,
[00:51:41] no,
[00:51:41] no.
[00:51:42] Like I,
[00:51:42] I caught it as soon as I said,
[00:51:43] like,
[00:51:43] as soon as I saw BLs,
[00:51:44] it's like,
[00:51:44] oh,
[00:51:45] yeah.
[00:51:47] Um,
[00:51:48] yeah,
[00:51:49] especially with like six,
[00:51:49] six,
[00:51:50] six stats and like hell bell and some of that,
[00:51:52] like they're going real into the,
[00:51:53] uh,
[00:51:54] the,
[00:51:54] the naming conventions of,
[00:51:56] of hell.
[00:51:58] He's not trying to hide it at all.
[00:52:00] Yeah.
[00:52:01] Um,
[00:52:03] but yeah,
[00:52:03] like,
[00:52:03] I just love that.
[00:52:04] It was like,
[00:52:04] cause I was like,
[00:52:05] don't do it.
[00:52:05] That's,
[00:52:05] that serves the devil.
[00:52:06] And I was like,
[00:52:07] wait,
[00:52:07] no,
[00:52:07] this actually is going the devil's like bargain route or the devil's packed route.
[00:52:12] Um,
[00:52:13] and,
[00:52:13] and actually speaking of that,
[00:52:14] regardless,
[00:52:15] I began writing my brother's characters name,
[00:52:18] which was dust.
[00:52:19] I made the first stroke.
[00:52:21] It was in black ink,
[00:52:23] just like normal and made a D,
[00:52:25] but the voice stopped me.
[00:52:26] No,
[00:52:27] no,
[00:52:28] your real name,
[00:52:28] please.
[00:52:29] I can't thank you with a false name.
[00:52:31] You know,
[00:52:32] my heart felt like it stopped for a second and sunk right into my stomach before violently bounding back up into my chest.
[00:52:41] How the hell did the game know that I wasn't signing my real name?
[00:52:46] Okay.
[00:52:47] Up till this point,
[00:52:48] I could have maybe chalked all this to just being like a weird hack or like a virus or something that because of the trade and such.
[00:52:54] Um,
[00:52:55] with the extra like quests and all that kind of stuff.
[00:52:57] This is actually where like things got like interesting on a supernatural angle.
[00:53:02] Yes.
[00:53:03] Cause it was like,
[00:53:03] Oh shit.
[00:53:05] But I poop something is,
[00:53:07] there's a ghost in the machine talking to him.
[00:53:10] Also,
[00:53:11] I,
[00:53:11] I'm going to bring this up now.
[00:53:12] Cause I don't actually have it in my notes,
[00:53:13] but like I thought about this morning,
[00:53:15] this is actually a poke a pasta where the care where we're getting a character who plays a,
[00:53:19] who's playing a game.
[00:53:20] And something actually happens to the player in an interesting and like dynamic way.
[00:53:27] It's not just like,
[00:53:28] I was scared or,
[00:53:30] or I,
[00:53:31] Oh my,
[00:53:31] like drops to the floor on your knees.
[00:53:33] I've abandoned my boy as,
[00:53:36] as like you realize that like the Pokemon that you,
[00:53:38] uh,
[00:53:39] you left in a save file from when you were a kid and you come back to it as an adult and the Pokemon are all in like gravestones and stuff like that.
[00:53:45] Cause they died abandoned.
[00:53:47] Like it's,
[00:53:48] it's don't get me wrong.
[00:53:49] Those are like interesting and like fun little concepts of like high concept,
[00:53:54] kind of like philosophical things of like the,
[00:53:56] the idea of like abandoning things that are like toys.
[00:53:59] Yeah.
[00:53:59] But like for like a,
[00:54:01] an actual like dynamic visceral scare or like a visceral like consequence.
[00:54:07] Um,
[00:54:08] this one breaks away from like a lot of the pokeposses where it kind of has the same hit of as like,
[00:54:13] it was all a dream.
[00:54:13] I think all the pokeposses,
[00:54:15] honestly,
[00:54:16] I don't remember any that actually leave a lasting impact on the narrator in a supernatural and fucked up way.
[00:54:26] Yeah.
[00:54:27] Like it's like,
[00:54:29] I remember Pokemon black actually like even Pokemon,
[00:54:31] like Pokemon spooky black or Pokemon creepy black,
[00:54:33] which is the,
[00:54:34] the one where like they get this,
[00:54:37] like this hack of a game or something like that from like a thrift store or garage sale.
[00:54:41] And,
[00:54:41] uh,
[00:54:42] or like from a,
[00:54:43] from a flea market,
[00:54:44] I think is where it was.
[00:54:45] And they,
[00:54:46] they pop it in and it's basically like you get ghost and it curses and everybody ends up as like tombstones.
[00:54:51] Cause like they're signifying that they're all dead.
[00:54:52] And then once you've beaten the game that way,
[00:54:55] it cuts to like years later and your character is an old man and the world is just empty except for all these gravestones.
[00:55:02] And until you're the only one left.
[00:55:03] And it's like,
[00:55:04] and the,
[00:55:04] and the game,
[00:55:05] the game,
[00:55:05] the story ends with the character.
[00:55:07] Like I have played this game and it has made me scared and it has made me sad.
[00:55:12] Like,
[00:55:12] and I don't get me wrong.
[00:55:13] I love those,
[00:55:14] those kinds of ideas and stuff for a game,
[00:55:16] because it's like,
[00:55:17] it's not like,
[00:55:19] like you're,
[00:55:20] it's not,
[00:55:21] there's consequences,
[00:55:22] but it's more of like emotional damage rather than like any kind of like physical or even spiritual damage.
[00:55:28] Yeah.
[00:55:28] And those kinds of stories are fun in the same way of like sitting down and watching a horror movie,
[00:55:34] playing a horror video game that's designed to be a normal,
[00:55:38] non-supernatural horror game.
[00:55:40] Yeah.
[00:55:41] Like you can play through the game and be unsettled and uncomfortable and sad by the end of it,
[00:55:47] but it's still just something you could have turned the TV off at on,
[00:55:52] on any time,
[00:55:52] you know?
[00:55:53] Yeah.
[00:55:54] Yeah.
[00:55:54] I think,
[00:55:54] I think when a,
[00:55:55] when a game,
[00:55:55] when a,
[00:55:55] when a screen pasta diverts from that and goes like,
[00:56:00] I tried turning off the game or I tried turning off the TV and it wouldn't work.
[00:56:03] Yes.
[00:56:04] That's when it's like,
[00:56:05] all right,
[00:56:05] shit's hitting the fan.
[00:56:06] You about to get fucked,
[00:56:08] son.
[00:56:10] Like,
[00:56:11] that's,
[00:56:11] that's when things get more interesting from like a more dynamic or like visceral level.
[00:56:17] Yeah.
[00:56:17] Because it's so easy to just turn away from something that's happening on a screen,
[00:56:23] forcing the narrator to continue and having a lasting impact on them.
[00:56:29] If a story does both of those things,
[00:56:32] then it's a win in my book at least.
[00:56:35] Yeah.
[00:56:35] Cause I think,
[00:56:36] uh,
[00:56:36] and I,
[00:56:37] this is sort of an interesting thing.
[00:56:38] Cause it's like when,
[00:56:40] when something does it like that,
[00:56:41] it also adds a level of fantasy or like,
[00:56:44] like it re it's like the story realized like,
[00:56:47] all right,
[00:56:47] up to this point,
[00:56:48] we've been pretty grounded in our,
[00:56:50] in,
[00:56:50] in the situation here,
[00:56:52] but this is a fucking wrote a written,
[00:56:54] uh,
[00:56:54] this is a,
[00:56:55] uh,
[00:56:55] this is a fucking piece of fiction,
[00:56:57] sir.
[00:56:57] We can go wild.
[00:56:59] Yep.
[00:57:00] And it's like,
[00:57:00] what if your game,
[00:57:01] what if your game said,
[00:57:02] no,
[00:57:03] you,
[00:57:04] you tried to turn it off.
[00:57:06] Yep.
[00:57:07] Yeah.
[00:57:07] So I think like,
[00:57:08] yeah,
[00:57:08] I think it's like a different difference between like cerebral horror and like a visceral
[00:57:12] horror or like,
[00:57:13] um,
[00:57:14] uh,
[00:57:14] supernatural horror.
[00:57:15] Yeah.
[00:57:16] And to pull away from the supernatural to a more mundane one,
[00:57:19] I can't remember the name of the story off the top of my head,
[00:57:22] but there was a story where,
[00:57:24] in the,
[00:57:24] in the past that we did where the narrator's playing a game and they're like finding coordinates
[00:57:30] in the game or something.
[00:57:32] Oh,
[00:57:33] huh?
[00:57:34] Yeah.
[00:57:35] Yeah.
[00:57:36] And the coordinates lead to like where a murderer was like burying bodies in real life.
[00:57:40] Yeah.
[00:57:41] It was like basically spreading that information through the game.
[00:57:44] Yeah.
[00:57:44] And the,
[00:57:45] and the game itself was like on a floppy disk or a CD that was like going around various
[00:57:48] like gaming circles in the nineties.
[00:57:50] Yeah.
[00:57:51] And like,
[00:57:51] it was actually like the game itself was actually this,
[00:57:54] like a roadmap to like the killers,
[00:57:56] like victim,
[00:57:58] like where they,
[00:57:58] where they were buried.
[00:57:59] Yeah.
[00:58:00] And that is another way to do like legit,
[00:58:03] like unsettling fucked up shit without doing any supernatural shit at all.
[00:58:07] Yeah.
[00:58:07] Cause that's just straight up like a mundane,
[00:58:09] like,
[00:58:10] I don't think it's cyber horror,
[00:58:11] but it's like basically like,
[00:58:13] like the,
[00:58:14] the serial killer is catching up to the times kind of thing.
[00:58:18] Yeah.
[00:58:19] Yeah.
[00:58:19] Yeah.
[00:58:20] Yeah.
[00:58:21] Even in that where most video game creepypastas,
[00:58:24] like I said,
[00:58:25] I want the character to be forced to continue to play.
[00:58:28] And I want the character to have lasting effects based on what's happening in that.
[00:58:32] You don't need either of those because the whole fucked up thing is it's something that could theoretically happen for real.
[00:58:38] Just someone making something and putting it out there.
[00:58:41] And like the real life connections to,
[00:58:43] you know,
[00:58:44] this could be actually happening.
[00:58:46] Yeah.
[00:58:47] Yeah.
[00:58:47] the,
[00:58:47] the,
[00:58:47] the,
[00:58:48] the,
[00:58:48] the,
[00:59:15] the horror of plausibility,
[00:59:15] and then it turns out the whole cutesy game was actually a metaphor for this,
[00:59:18] like serial killers,
[00:59:19] like,
[00:59:20] um,
[00:59:21] manifesto.
[00:59:24] But yeah.
[00:59:25] Um,
[00:59:25] yeah.
[00:59:26] So I just wanted to bring that up.
[00:59:26] Like none of that is the story,
[00:59:29] but like,
[00:59:29] again,
[00:59:30] it brings up that like,
[00:59:30] yeah,
[00:59:30] this story,
[00:59:31] like I liked how the story actually broke the mold of a lot of poke pastas,
[00:59:34] uh,
[00:59:34] fall into where it's not just like,
[00:59:38] there's not,
[00:59:38] it's not a short term,
[00:59:39] um,
[00:59:41] uh,
[00:59:41] consequential effect to the,
[00:59:43] the protagonist or to the end of the victim of the story.
[00:59:46] This is a longterm,
[00:59:47] like eternal soul sort of thing.
[00:59:50] Yeah.
[00:59:50] The longest of terms.
[00:59:51] Yeah.
[00:59:53] Um,
[00:59:54] so,
[00:59:54] and it was a nice like revelation about the end when we got it.
[00:59:58] Um,
[01:00:03] I actually have to look through where am I now?
[01:00:05] The story.
[01:00:13] Okay.
[01:00:13] I think this is my last one I have here.
[01:00:16] Um,
[01:00:19] why I was listening,
[01:00:20] sir.
[01:00:21] No,
[01:00:21] go ahead.
[01:00:21] No,
[01:00:21] I'll bring up.
[01:00:23] Why I was listening to this,
[01:00:25] watching it all play out when I could easily just turn it off or start a
[01:00:31] completely new game.
[01:00:32] I don't know.
[01:00:33] The thought simply didn't cross my mind at the time.
[01:00:36] I don't think it was allowed to.
[01:00:39] Okay.
[01:00:40] I'm glad it added that last part.
[01:00:42] Whereas like,
[01:00:43] I don't think I was allowed to be insinuating that perhaps like,
[01:00:46] um,
[01:00:47] BLs was,
[01:00:48] was,
[01:00:48] was exerting some kind of control over,
[01:00:51] um,
[01:00:51] over Nair and like making them sign the deal kind of thing.
[01:00:55] Cause otherwise I was going to call shenanigans.
[01:00:58] And like,
[01:00:58] this is really silly.
[01:00:59] Why are you like,
[01:01:00] why did you not like,
[01:01:01] this is a bad idea as I'm just going to write my name.
[01:01:03] Cause for lol,
[01:01:05] YOLO.
[01:01:07] Uh,
[01:01:07] so I'm glad that they,
[01:01:08] it brings up that like,
[01:01:10] I don't know.
[01:01:10] I don't think I was allowed to like consider,
[01:01:13] like,
[01:01:14] I shouldn't do this.
[01:01:15] Yes.
[01:01:17] Yeah.
[01:01:18] Uh,
[01:01:19] just again,
[01:01:19] furthering the whole thing.
[01:01:20] I was just like,
[01:01:20] I like how the story,
[01:01:22] like for like most of the time,
[01:01:24] the story does actually like legitimize what the mistakes the character is
[01:01:29] making,
[01:01:29] or it's like they're,
[01:01:30] they're,
[01:01:30] they're,
[01:01:31] they're,
[01:01:31] they're explaining their,
[01:01:32] they're caught the mistakes they're making in the.
[01:01:36] Um,
[01:01:36] so I,
[01:01:37] I appreciated that as well in the story.
[01:01:39] Cause like,
[01:01:39] otherwise I was just like,
[01:01:40] this is kind of silly.
[01:01:41] Why are you just doing,
[01:01:42] why are you writing your name?
[01:01:44] There's so many red flags here.
[01:01:46] One thing that I wish happened,
[01:01:48] um,
[01:01:49] is okay.
[01:01:50] She starts writing dust.
[01:01:52] I believe his name was the character thing.
[01:01:54] And then Beelzebulb was like,
[01:01:55] no,
[01:01:55] your real name.
[01:01:56] And then she starts writing in her brother's name.
[01:01:59] And he's like,
[01:01:59] no,
[01:02:00] your real name.
[01:02:02] So like,
[01:02:03] Oh my God,
[01:02:04] that'd be so good.
[01:02:06] That'd be a very much a nope situation.
[01:02:08] Like,
[01:02:08] nope,
[01:02:09] nope.
[01:02:09] I'm out.
[01:02:10] I'm out.
[01:02:10] But still,
[01:02:11] yeah.
[01:02:28] I'm out.
[01:02:28] On your account.
[01:02:30] If you have a name.
[01:02:32] Yeah,
[01:02:32] exactly.
[01:02:32] So like,
[01:02:33] Oh,
[01:02:33] like maybe like,
[01:02:34] Oh,
[01:02:34] like I'll write it.
[01:02:34] But my,
[01:02:34] my brother's name,
[01:02:35] like maybe that's like,
[01:02:37] maybe it means that it's like,
[01:02:37] no,
[01:02:38] your name.
[01:02:40] And then if it actually said a name,
[01:02:42] that would have been even like better.
[01:02:44] Yeah.
[01:02:45] It's,
[01:02:46] it's fine the way that they don't add the name in this one.
[01:02:48] It's just like,
[01:02:48] we're just going to use Nair for it.
[01:02:50] But yeah,
[01:02:52] I did like that.
[01:02:53] It was just like that.
[01:02:54] Yeah.
[01:02:54] It's very much a psycho mantis maneuver.
[01:03:01] But yeah,
[01:03:02] that's the end of my,
[01:03:03] my actual thoughts.
[01:03:04] So gamer,
[01:03:05] what do you have?
[01:03:08] Let's see.
[01:03:11] Okay.
[01:03:12] So right off the bat,
[01:03:13] it's talking about how fourth generation was a letdown.
[01:03:17] So her brothers are like,
[01:03:18] here,
[01:03:18] take my Pokemon shit.
[01:03:19] I'm done with it.
[01:03:20] Yeah.
[01:03:21] What was wrong with fourth generation?
[01:03:23] I was,
[01:03:24] it just not liked.
[01:03:26] I don't know.
[01:03:27] I liked fourth generation.
[01:03:28] Like I'm assuming fourth generation was,
[01:03:30] was diamond and pearl,
[01:03:31] which it gave us the,
[01:03:33] the,
[01:03:33] the,
[01:03:34] the weird,
[01:03:34] like creepy,
[01:03:35] like legendary jellyfish monsters that are kind of like,
[01:03:38] uh,
[01:03:38] aspects of different,
[01:03:39] like,
[01:03:41] uh,
[01:03:41] like mind things,
[01:03:43] which,
[01:03:44] I mean,
[01:03:44] I don't,
[01:03:44] maybe I like that because it was Cthulhu,
[01:03:46] kind of like Cthulhu stuff.
[01:03:48] Yeah.
[01:03:48] Before we got the actual Cthulhu of Pokemon with the,
[01:03:51] uh,
[01:03:53] um,
[01:03:53] uh,
[01:03:54] like dark rye and like that.
[01:03:55] And like the,
[01:03:56] the thing,
[01:03:56] the,
[01:03:56] the one big legendary Pokemon,
[01:03:58] it's like sleeping in a sunken city under the waves.
[01:04:01] For real?
[01:04:02] Yeah.
[01:04:02] I can't remember the,
[01:04:03] the one it's name,
[01:04:04] but like,
[01:04:04] basically it's the Cthulhu of Pokemon.
[01:04:06] Nice.
[01:04:07] Um,
[01:04:08] hang on.
[01:04:08] I'm actually going to look at the fourth generation.
[01:04:10] Pokemon.
[01:04:11] Oh,
[01:04:11] like fourth generation was,
[01:04:13] it had,
[01:04:14] it had an Empoleon,
[01:04:15] like the,
[01:04:15] the penguin,
[01:04:16] uh,
[01:04:16] and stuff like that.
[01:04:17] And the,
[01:04:17] the,
[01:04:18] the,
[01:04:19] the,
[01:04:19] uh,
[01:04:19] the turtle with the tree starter.
[01:04:21] So I think this was also the one with the fire monkey.
[01:04:28] Chimchar.
[01:04:30] Yeah.
[01:04:30] Chimchar.
[01:04:30] Yeah.
[01:04:31] Don't ask me how I know that.
[01:04:33] Oh,
[01:04:33] you know,
[01:04:33] it's funny.
[01:04:34] Actually,
[01:04:34] uh,
[01:04:34] this generation four also had,
[01:04:36] did actually have the Cthulhu monster,
[01:04:37] uh,
[01:04:37] in platinum,
[01:04:38] which was the,
[01:04:39] uh,
[01:04:39] the third,
[01:04:40] uh,
[01:04:40] game,
[01:04:42] um,
[01:04:43] of generation four,
[01:04:44] I believe.
[01:04:45] Oh,
[01:04:45] okay.
[01:04:46] Yeah.
[01:04:48] But yeah.
[01:04:49] Um,
[01:04:49] I,
[01:04:49] I didn't know if it was like hated by most people or it's just,
[01:04:55] you know,
[01:04:55] people can like and hate different things.
[01:04:57] It's fine.
[01:04:58] You know,
[01:04:59] cultists has gone down a rabbit hole.
[01:05:00] I'm,
[01:05:01] I'm literally looking at is Jen,
[01:05:02] Jen,
[01:05:03] Jen four Pokemon hated.
[01:05:06] Why is Jen?
[01:05:07] And the first thing that comes up that people ask,
[01:05:08] why is Jen four so loved?
[01:05:11] Oh,
[01:05:11] really?
[01:05:12] Jen generation four contains some of the most distinctive and interesting Pokemon designs in the game.
[01:05:18] Right down to the early bugs and birds.
[01:05:22] It's thanks to this variety of Pokemon to love that,
[01:05:26] or this variety of Pokemon to love that this generation holds a special place for so many people's hearts.
[01:05:32] So,
[01:05:32] yeah,
[01:05:32] I guess maybe,
[01:05:33] maybe he just didn't care for it.
[01:05:34] Like,
[01:05:34] maybe he just did like,
[01:05:35] he does,
[01:05:36] it does kind of bring up that like,
[01:05:36] they just,
[01:05:37] he didn't care for like the graphics or like the,
[01:05:39] the style.
[01:05:39] So like,
[01:05:40] you might've just aged out of it too.
[01:05:42] Yeah.
[01:05:42] That's also probably what it was.
[01:05:44] Like some people age out of Pokemon.
[01:05:47] So,
[01:05:48] yeah,
[01:05:49] I couldn't even like,
[01:05:50] I couldn't even continue on that sentence.
[01:05:52] Like,
[01:05:52] yeah,
[01:05:52] no,
[01:05:52] some people just age out.
[01:05:53] I didn't,
[01:05:54] but some people,
[01:05:55] some people.
[01:05:56] Yeah.
[01:05:57] Also,
[01:05:58] yeah,
[01:05:58] I did another quick Google pros and cons of Pokemon generations on generation four.
[01:06:02] It says like the downside worst.
[01:06:05] Uh,
[01:06:06] while generation four is highly regarded,
[01:06:08] there are no significant drawbacks that stand in.
[01:06:12] Wow.
[01:06:13] That really helps.
[01:06:15] Like,
[01:06:15] I know,
[01:06:15] um,
[01:06:16] I think graphic wise,
[01:06:18] I believe Pokemon,
[01:06:19] uh,
[01:06:20] diamond and pearl was like one of the first like 3d,
[01:06:24] uh,
[01:06:24] ones because it went through like the DS.
[01:06:28] Uh,
[01:06:28] so maybe like they,
[01:06:29] they,
[01:06:30] he,
[01:06:30] maybe like if it wasn't just that he grew,
[01:06:31] he grew out of it,
[01:06:32] maybe he just didn't like that.
[01:06:33] It was no longer like spray.
[01:06:35] Based.
[01:06:37] Oh,
[01:06:37] maybe I'm going to double check actually.
[01:06:39] Pokemon diamond.
[01:06:42] Gameplay.
[01:06:42] It's like,
[01:06:43] if it's not 2d,
[01:06:44] this ain't my Pokemon anymore.
[01:06:45] Yeah.
[01:06:47] Which is fair.
[01:06:48] Oh,
[01:06:48] hang.
[01:06:49] Oh yeah.
[01:06:50] It is.
[01:06:50] Uh,
[01:06:51] no,
[01:06:52] it's still 2d or like it's,
[01:06:55] it's more on an angle,
[01:06:56] but it's like,
[01:06:57] it's,
[01:06:57] it's still like up the 2d,
[01:06:59] like,
[01:06:59] are they?
[01:07:00] No,
[01:07:00] they're not sprites.
[01:07:02] Oh,
[01:07:02] they are sprites,
[01:07:03] but they're like more,
[01:07:04] it's like a weird,
[01:07:05] weird combination between like 2d sprites and 3d characters because like they have shading,
[01:07:13] but they're all like,
[01:07:13] it's all 2d shade,
[01:07:14] like 2d,
[01:07:15] um,
[01:07:16] like pixelated sprite animation,
[01:07:18] but they've added,
[01:07:19] they've added,
[01:07:20] uh,
[01:07:20] it's like halfway between three to 3d graphics and pixel art.
[01:07:25] Interesting.
[01:07:26] Yeah.
[01:07:27] So they hadn't actually gotten to the point where it was like,
[01:07:31] um,
[01:07:32] like full,
[01:07:32] full on like,
[01:07:33] uh,
[01:07:34] like character models,
[01:07:35] like 3d character models and like using the,
[01:07:37] uh,
[01:07:37] using the engine of the DS to it's like,
[01:07:39] like it's,
[01:07:40] it's maximum.
[01:07:43] Either way,
[01:07:43] he's allowed to not like it.
[01:07:44] We can be honest.
[01:07:45] Yeah.
[01:07:45] No,
[01:07:45] yeah.
[01:07:47] Long story short.
[01:07:48] Yeah,
[01:07:49] really.
[01:07:51] So,
[01:07:52] so we,
[01:07:53] I get on reading and then like,
[01:07:56] uh,
[01:07:56] Nair starts mentioning all the,
[01:07:57] like the weird stuff that's happening after getting,
[01:08:01] uh,
[01:08:01] hell bell and stuff.
[01:08:02] And I don't really like how Nair is basically taking everything in stride.
[01:08:08] Like,
[01:08:09] like,
[01:08:09] yes,
[01:08:10] he says like all the hell symbolism is weird,
[01:08:12] but that's about it.
[01:08:13] She's rolls with everything that's happening.
[01:08:16] Yeah.
[01:08:16] and like,
[01:08:17] it's partially explained because like,
[01:08:23] okay.
[01:08:24] The reason that Nair goes with through most of this is explained out basically a lot in the story itself because Nair says like,
[01:08:32] Oh,
[01:08:32] the stats are weird.
[01:08:33] Cause it's a hack.
[01:08:34] Um,
[01:08:35] and like Nair has ran into other Pokemon games where the Pokemon don't want to leave the party.
[01:08:41] Like that's an actual thing.
[01:08:42] That's apparently in the game.
[01:08:44] Yeah.
[01:08:45] Um,
[01:08:46] and like there's systems in the game that deny trading.
[01:08:50] That's why she couldn't trade back or something like,
[01:08:54] so they're explaining away all the weirdness.
[01:08:56] Yeah.
[01:08:56] It's all set up with believable already programmed reasons into the game.
[01:09:01] But I feel like that stops or at least hinders any creepiness from being able to build.
[01:09:08] At least up until this point.
[01:09:10] Yeah.
[01:09:11] Yeah.
[01:09:11] Because the only odd thing up to that point is like,
[01:09:16] when you take the note off the Pokemon,
[01:09:18] it writes another one.
[01:09:19] But again,
[01:09:20] that could also just be programmed.
[01:09:22] Yeah.
[01:09:23] Yeah.
[01:09:24] Like maybe that's how like the Pokemon,
[01:09:26] like they've decided to add,
[01:09:27] like they've had some scripted events happening for the Pokemon.
[01:09:30] Like if,
[01:09:31] if card is removed from Pokemon's inventory,
[01:09:33] add a new one with this like message kind of thing.
[01:09:35] Yeah.
[01:09:36] And,
[01:09:37] and like what I said before,
[01:09:38] we said before technically,
[01:09:39] um,
[01:09:40] it's the,
[01:09:41] for all Nair knows,
[01:09:43] um,
[01:09:43] as soon as you get that Pokemon,
[01:09:46] any of the,
[01:09:48] what the hell's the Pokemon name?
[01:09:50] Uh,
[01:09:50] Hellbell or Bronzong?
[01:09:52] Bronzong.
[01:09:52] Yeah.
[01:09:53] For all we know,
[01:09:54] or for all Nair knows,
[01:09:55] as soon as you get a Bronzong in the game at all,
[01:09:57] it puts you in this quest line.
[01:09:59] As like backstory for the Pokemon.
[01:10:01] Like it's entirely plausible up until this point.
[01:10:04] And then we get later on where she brings Bronzong over to,
[01:10:09] um,
[01:10:09] like the tombstone that breaks after a bell tolls.
[01:10:14] Yeah.
[01:10:14] And even then it's explained that it breaks just like if someone used
[01:10:19] rock smash on it.
[01:10:20] Yeah.
[01:10:20] So it's using the games like in game mechanics.
[01:10:23] Yeah.
[01:10:24] That's great.
[01:10:25] If this was a fan created hack of the game,
[01:10:28] since they're using assets that are already in the game to tell the
[01:10:31] story,
[01:10:32] but this seems like it's meant to be a supernatural creepypasta of
[01:10:36] sorts.
[01:10:37] I'm writing this in the moment.
[01:10:38] Keep in mind.
[01:10:39] Um,
[01:10:40] and as such,
[01:10:40] I feel like it should have the ability to render things as it wants,
[01:10:44] not just how the game is coded.
[01:10:46] Um,
[01:10:47] that being said,
[01:10:48] maybe the only way that hell bell can communicate is through in game
[01:10:51] assets.
[01:10:52] So his ghost or whatever that has corrupted his game to like hack the
[01:10:57] gameplay,
[01:10:58] like that's how he's communicating.
[01:10:59] I don't know.
[01:11:00] Yeah.
[01:11:00] I mean,
[01:11:00] and that is actually a very common thing that like ghosts in ghosts and
[01:11:03] even like demon stuff,
[01:11:04] like they can't,
[01:11:06] they can't like,
[01:11:07] they can't break the laws of physics in the material world,
[01:11:09] but they can use,
[01:11:10] they,
[01:11:10] they use like their surroundings to try and like manifest.
[01:11:15] So in this case,
[01:11:16] like the demon is using pixel art and like the Pokemon coding that the
[01:11:20] Pokemon code to kind of like manifest itself.
[01:11:24] It does mask the supernatural things going on,
[01:11:28] but that's also probably what BLs wants.
[01:11:31] He doesn't want this to be overly fucked up because then they won't go
[01:11:34] through.
[01:11:36] That that's exactly it.
[01:11:37] Yeah.
[01:11:38] Yeah.
[01:11:39] And then,
[01:11:40] yeah,
[01:11:40] go ahead.
[01:11:41] I was just like,
[01:11:42] yeah,
[01:11:42] it's like to kind of like,
[01:11:43] not maybe this is an encounter to what you're,
[01:11:45] you're getting at,
[01:11:46] but like,
[01:11:46] I honestly think like all that mundane,
[01:11:48] like explanation does kind of prime you up for like a,
[01:11:51] for like a nice drop where it like actually drops the,
[01:11:54] no,
[01:11:54] this is supernatural right at the end.
[01:11:56] It's like,
[01:11:57] yeah,
[01:11:57] why this is creepy.
[01:11:59] Yeah.
[01:12:00] Which is basically what I was going to go in with the next one.
[01:12:02] Okay.
[01:12:02] Yeah.
[01:12:02] When I reached the bottom,
[01:12:03] I was met with a narrow path with large pools of Markma lap and
[01:12:08] lava on either side.
[01:12:09] It was beginning to look more like the cave in which you encounter.
[01:12:14] Gouron.
[01:12:15] R.S.
[01:12:15] What?
[01:12:16] Groudon.
[01:12:16] It's Groudon.
[01:12:17] Is that Groudon?
[01:12:18] I wasn't reading right.
[01:12:19] Groudon in RSE with better graphics support.
[01:12:22] So as soon as I read that,
[01:12:23] I was like,
[01:12:24] okay,
[01:12:25] so now it's finally rendering things that aren't programmed in the
[01:12:29] game.
[01:12:30] So it's starting to get weird here,
[01:12:32] but that be said,
[01:12:33] for all she knows,
[01:12:34] this area is actually programmed in the game.
[01:12:37] Yeah.
[01:12:37] This could actually be like beyond the walls of like what the
[01:12:40] player gets to play in.
[01:12:41] Like this could be like one of those,
[01:12:42] like,
[01:12:43] like look,
[01:12:44] like basically like an asset area.
[01:12:47] Yeah.
[01:12:47] Or like a,
[01:12:48] or discarded level that the game has in it.
[01:12:50] Every Pokemon game is in a different region,
[01:12:54] right?
[01:12:55] Most of the time.
[01:12:56] Yeah.
[01:12:57] Yeah.
[01:12:57] So like if,
[01:12:59] like that,
[01:13:00] that area,
[01:13:01] that,
[01:13:02] that cave where you get Groudon and RSE,
[01:13:05] that's from a different game,
[01:13:07] which is in technically a different country in the Pokemon world.
[01:13:10] Yeah.
[01:13:10] So in this game,
[01:13:12] that area would not theoretically be here unless it's on some weird
[01:13:16] planar dimension or some shit where you can jump in between it.
[01:13:18] Right?
[01:13:19] Yeah.
[01:13:20] Like I'm,
[01:13:20] I'm thinking like they just took like,
[01:13:22] this could also be like,
[01:13:23] they,
[01:13:24] they may be,
[01:13:24] it may have taken assets from the previous games,
[01:13:26] like using that engine or something,
[01:13:27] maybe like for this one,
[01:13:29] but yeah.
[01:13:30] Yeah.
[01:13:30] But there wouldn't be assets from the previous game in the current game
[01:13:34] because they would only keep current game assets on the current game.
[01:13:38] Um,
[01:13:40] you probably right.
[01:13:41] Especially in this case,
[01:13:42] you're probably right.
[01:13:42] I was going to,
[01:13:43] I was going to counter you with like,
[01:13:44] I mean,
[01:13:45] like there are several Nintendo games that we're basically using that were,
[01:13:48] were our brand or fair,
[01:13:49] we're fairly new that used the previous,
[01:13:52] the previous games,
[01:13:53] like assets and game files and such,
[01:13:57] but you're,
[01:13:58] you're right in this case though.
[01:13:59] So it does say it's beginning to look more like,
[01:14:03] it's not like it's an exact copy.
[01:14:05] Yeah.
[01:14:05] It was just similar,
[01:14:06] extremely similar,
[01:14:07] but similar.
[01:14:08] Yeah.
[01:14:09] So I can let that go,
[01:14:10] but either way.
[01:14:11] Yeah.
[01:14:11] That's when I started actually seeing a little bit of the creepiness.
[01:14:16] And then the name shows up and that's where the actual creepiness.
[01:14:20] And then Nair gets taken on all that.
[01:14:25] And,
[01:14:25] um,
[01:14:25] she says,
[01:14:26] I can't sleep.
[01:14:26] Food seems to turn into ash in my mouth.
[01:14:29] No water can quench my thirst.
[01:14:30] And people and animals both act as if the shadow of death is passing by them when I'm near.
[01:14:38] So,
[01:14:39] um,
[01:14:40] first off,
[01:14:40] she does say that she was like wearing pure blacks.
[01:14:42] Maybe she's just super goth.
[01:14:44] She's just a super goth chick.
[01:14:46] So like everyone gets that vibe anyways.
[01:14:48] But,
[01:14:49] um,
[01:14:49] joking aside,
[01:14:50] I do wonder if like the food turning to ash is like legit doing that.
[01:14:56] Or this is just a flowery way of saying that she doesn't get any sustenance from food anymore.
[01:15:02] So,
[01:15:02] you know what this brought to mind actually?
[01:15:04] What was it?
[01:15:05] Uh,
[01:15:05] uh,
[01:15:05] in Pirates of the Caribbean,
[01:15:07] uh,
[01:15:07] curse of the black pearl,
[01:15:08] there is literally a very similar line,
[01:15:10] uh,
[01:15:11] said by Barbossa,
[01:15:13] the captain Barbossa,
[01:15:14] the,
[01:15:14] uh,
[01:15:14] the captain of the bad pirates,
[01:15:16] um,
[01:15:17] who are also undead because of a curse.
[01:15:20] Um,
[01:15:20] where it's like,
[01:15:21] like I can't drink.
[01:15:22] I can't feel like,
[01:15:24] uh,
[01:15:24] food turns,
[01:15:25] it turns to ash in my mouth.
[01:15:27] I've never,
[01:15:27] I've not felt the warmth of a,
[01:15:29] of a,
[01:15:29] of a woman's flesh.
[01:15:30] Like,
[01:15:31] and like that kind of stuff.
[01:15:32] So it's like,
[01:15:33] yeah,
[01:15:33] it's basically like,
[01:15:34] she's,
[01:15:34] she's sort of like that.
[01:15:35] Like,
[01:15:35] uh,
[01:15:36] and the moonlight is what like shows reveals the,
[01:15:38] the pirates to be like undead skeletal like beings,
[01:15:43] but like every,
[01:15:44] uh,
[01:15:44] every else wise,
[01:15:45] like other,
[01:15:45] any other light source like reveals,
[01:15:47] like shows like them as like normal,
[01:15:48] except for the fact that they're,
[01:15:50] um,
[01:15:51] like discussing pirates.
[01:15:52] So,
[01:15:53] so like maybe that's the case for,
[01:15:55] for,
[01:15:56] Nair here is that like she,
[01:15:58] she does have like an aura of like of,
[01:16:00] of unholy death upon her because she's basically like when the moonlight,
[01:16:05] if the moonlight shines down on her,
[01:16:06] she like looks,
[01:16:07] she becomes like a skeletal,
[01:16:08] like demonic form because she's,
[01:16:10] her soul has been taken.
[01:16:14] And because like,
[01:16:15] there's like legit supernatural shit going on with demons and such food might
[01:16:20] literally be turned to ash.
[01:16:23] Yeah.
[01:16:24] I do wonder what her parents think about this happening.
[01:16:27] Like,
[01:16:27] like,
[01:16:28] you're missing this happening too.
[01:16:30] Or like,
[01:16:30] or maybe she like,
[01:16:31] maybe she's been like keeping it away from her parents or maybe she doesn't
[01:16:34] live at home anymore.
[01:16:36] Like,
[01:16:37] yeah,
[01:16:37] that's the thing.
[01:16:37] We don't know the age of the character.
[01:16:39] Yeah.
[01:16:40] Yeah,
[01:16:40] exactly.
[01:16:41] Like they could be in their college year in,
[01:16:42] in like their call.
[01:16:43] They could be like college age and just not working,
[01:16:46] living at home kind of thing.
[01:16:47] Could be a,
[01:16:50] or it could be a situation where,
[01:16:52] um,
[01:16:54] BL is basically doesn't give her the option to show people what's happening.
[01:17:00] Yeah.
[01:17:00] So basically it's making her into like,
[01:17:03] I'm fine,
[01:17:04] mom.
[01:17:05] You don't understand.
[01:17:06] Yeah.
[01:17:07] Just that.
[01:17:10] You're not eating your,
[01:17:11] you're not eating your mashed potatoes,
[01:17:12] honey.
[01:17:13] It's like,
[01:17:13] it's just going to turn to ash in my mouth.
[01:17:15] What was that?
[01:17:16] Nothing.
[01:17:17] I mean,
[01:17:18] at that point she could just straight up say it.
[01:17:20] Yeah.
[01:17:21] Cause it's not like anyone's going to believe her too.
[01:17:23] Cause the other thing.
[01:17:26] See,
[01:17:26] watch.
[01:17:29] Just like immediately turns to ash.
[01:17:32] it's just like,
[01:17:35] Mashed potatoes are so fucking dry,
[01:17:37] mom.
[01:17:38] God.
[01:17:40] Yeah.
[01:17:41] Well,
[01:17:41] honey,
[01:17:41] get some water.
[01:17:42] It's like,
[01:17:42] I can't,
[01:17:43] it doesn't work.
[01:17:46] God.
[01:17:46] Yeah.
[01:17:48] It's pouring water in her mouth and it's just like at the,
[01:17:50] like opening of her lips.
[01:17:51] It's just like not even going.
[01:17:53] It's bouncing off and going all over.
[01:17:55] Yeah,
[01:17:56] exactly.
[01:17:56] It's just,
[01:17:56] it's just rolling,
[01:17:58] rolling past her mouth.
[01:17:59] Yeah.
[01:17:59] It's like a force field.
[01:18:01] Yeah,
[01:18:01] exactly.
[01:18:04] But yeah.
[01:18:06] Either way,
[01:18:08] as you said before,
[01:18:09] and as I've chimed in,
[01:18:10] I do like that something happening to a protagonist in a Pokemon
[01:18:14] creepypasta.
[01:18:15] Hooray.
[01:18:15] It happened.
[01:18:17] I do wonder if she's either going to die from this
[01:18:21] happening or she's just a mortal because of this
[01:18:24] happening.
[01:18:24] I honestly got the impression that like,
[01:18:26] she's,
[01:18:27] this is her torment.
[01:18:28] Like she will not die from this,
[01:18:30] but she is never,
[01:18:31] she's always going to be hungry and she's always going to be thirsty.
[01:18:34] And now that I've said,
[01:18:35] so part of me was actually kind of bugged that they used Beelzebub
[01:18:38] because Beelzebub is the,
[01:18:42] uh,
[01:18:42] uh,
[01:18:43] uh,
[01:18:43] Beelzebub sin is gluttony.
[01:18:46] And I was like,
[01:18:47] how does that have to do with like people cheating and Pokemon trading and
[01:18:50] some of that?
[01:18:50] And then I just realized,
[01:18:52] Oh,
[01:18:53] it's because she can't drink or eat.
[01:18:58] Yeah.
[01:18:59] It doesn't have anything to do with Pokemon.
[01:19:00] That's the punishment of gluttony.
[01:19:03] Yeah.
[01:19:04] That's Beelzebub's domain or like their,
[01:19:06] their deadly sin is gluttony.
[01:19:07] I didn't realize that actually,
[01:19:09] that just connects this even better.
[01:19:11] To be fair.
[01:19:12] I only know that because of a hell of a boss,
[01:19:17] which is this like hell demon,
[01:19:19] hell cartoon on YouTube.
[01:19:22] And I mean,
[01:19:23] I've learned dumb shit from very even dumber locations.
[01:19:27] So that's fine.
[01:19:30] Yeah.
[01:19:31] I'm pretty sure.
[01:19:32] I'm also pretty sure that's,
[01:19:34] that's one that,
[01:19:35] that is their sin in like actual demonology.
[01:19:38] But I definitely only know that like off the top of my head right now
[01:19:42] because of fucking hell of a boss.
[01:19:44] We will assume this silly cartoon is accurate with this information.
[01:19:48] I mean,
[01:19:49] they got Asmodeus record with it.
[01:19:50] They did get Asmodeus right.
[01:19:52] So like that hell prince is in charge of lust in real,
[01:19:56] in real demonology and in,
[01:19:59] in the show.
[01:19:59] So I can only assume that Beelzebub is in charge of gluttony because in,
[01:20:04] in some,
[01:20:05] in some demonology circles.
[01:20:07] Beelzebub means Lord of flies translated.
[01:20:10] I mean,
[01:20:11] Lord,
[01:20:11] Lord of dung or Lord of filth.
[01:20:13] Yep.
[01:20:13] Representing gluttony and envy.
[01:20:15] Okay.
[01:20:16] Oh,
[01:20:16] maybe envy is also the sin for,
[01:20:18] for Nair here because she was jealous of her,
[01:20:22] of her,
[01:20:23] of her brother having Pokemon diamond for so long.
[01:20:26] Oh,
[01:20:28] reading.
[01:20:31] I'm just like reading.
[01:20:32] Like I,
[01:20:32] this is just like going deep into like reading into things.
[01:20:36] Wow.
[01:20:37] Cause again,
[01:20:37] like it's a cool idea to have like a demon,
[01:20:40] like be basically like catching souls through this,
[01:20:43] like this game.
[01:20:44] And so that,
[01:20:45] like,
[01:20:45] I love that idea.
[01:20:47] Um,
[01:20:47] I just,
[01:20:48] but when you do that,
[01:20:49] I'm,
[01:20:50] I want to know the more of the,
[01:20:51] the supernatural mechanics behind it.
[01:20:54] Yeah.
[01:20:54] Like why he's choosing to do this through Pokemon.
[01:20:57] Yeah.
[01:20:58] Like what,
[01:20:58] why are they,
[01:20:59] why are they,
[01:20:59] why is he targeting people through this game?
[01:21:02] Like what is the vice?
[01:21:03] What is the,
[01:21:04] the sin that they're,
[01:21:06] he's catching people with.
[01:21:08] Does he have to catch sinners though?
[01:21:10] I mean,
[01:21:11] that's generally what demons do,
[01:21:12] but I mean,
[01:21:14] I guess,
[01:21:14] yeah,
[01:21:15] they lead people astray so that they can like,
[01:21:17] yeah,
[01:21:18] yeah,
[01:21:19] that's fair.
[01:21:20] Yeah.
[01:21:21] But yeah,
[01:21:21] that's basically all my notes until finals.
[01:21:24] Okay.
[01:21:25] It sounds like I'm studying for a test.
[01:21:28] The Pokemon finals.
[01:21:29] Yeah.
[01:21:29] Yeah.
[01:21:30] Or that.
[01:21:31] Yeah.
[01:21:31] Da,
[01:21:31] da,
[01:21:32] da,
[01:21:32] da,
[01:21:33] da,
[01:21:34] da,
[01:21:34] da,
[01:21:35] da,
[01:21:35] da.
[01:21:36] Anyways.
[01:21:37] Yeah.
[01:21:37] So yeah.
[01:21:38] Onto final thoughts.
[01:21:40] Yeah.
[01:21:40] The gym leader battle.
[01:21:42] Yeah.
[01:21:43] So yeah,
[01:21:44] I'm,
[01:21:44] I'm still going to partially recommend this though,
[01:21:46] probably on the higher end of partial.
[01:21:48] Cause I really do like the ideas here.
[01:21:51] And.
[01:21:52] The only reason I'm giving it really a partial is because I think there's a lot,
[01:21:56] a little bit more work can be done to the story to make it better.
[01:22:00] Um,
[01:22:00] like a few fixes here and there and some modifications.
[01:22:04] Like I think the,
[01:22:06] the,
[01:22:06] the story would actually would,
[01:22:08] if they had a couple of those like fixes and modifications that we've brought up in the story in the,
[01:22:11] in our,
[01:22:12] in our actual thoughts,
[01:22:13] I think I would give it a full recommendation.
[01:22:16] Otherwise I really enjoyed the concept and the promise of the story.
[01:22:21] Um,
[01:22:22] and even like,
[01:22:23] like,
[01:22:23] Hmm.
[01:22:24] Promise or premise?
[01:22:25] No,
[01:22:25] the promise.
[01:22:26] Like,
[01:22:26] like it has,
[01:22:27] it has promise.
[01:22:28] Oh yeah.
[01:22:29] Yeah.
[01:22:30] Um,
[01:22:30] like it has,
[01:22:30] it has potential.
[01:22:32] Um,
[01:22:32] I really liked that.
[01:22:34] It broke away from the mold of a lot of pokepasta tropes in that it's something that actually happens.
[01:22:40] Something bad happens to the player longterm,
[01:22:43] other than like short term or like cerebrally.
[01:22:48] Um,
[01:22:49] so yeah,
[01:22:50] I,
[01:22:50] I partially recommend on the high end room for improvement,
[01:22:57] but,
[01:22:57] uh,
[01:22:58] yeah.
[01:22:59] Gamer Nilla,
[01:22:59] your,
[01:23:00] your final thoughts.
[01:23:01] So it's a partial at the start,
[01:23:03] but like the more I'm thinking about it,
[01:23:05] I actually just,
[01:23:06] I do like this.
[01:23:07] Like the start of it is really slow,
[01:23:11] which is part of the reason why I,
[01:23:13] I initially went partial.
[01:23:15] Um,
[01:23:16] because like the first three chords,
[01:23:18] the story is really slow and dry to be.
[01:23:20] Yeah.
[01:23:20] It's a text Lex let's play basically.
[01:23:23] Yeah.
[01:23:24] Um,
[01:23:24] but like,
[01:23:25] as we got discussing things,
[01:23:27] it does kind of lead you into a false sense of security being like,
[01:23:31] Oh,
[01:23:32] it's just going to be a mundane or not mundane.
[01:23:35] Oh,
[01:23:36] it could be Monday.
[01:23:36] If nothing's going to happen to the character,
[01:23:38] there's thing to be spooked and all that because nothing over the supernatural is happening.
[01:23:43] And then all of a sudden it's like,
[01:23:44] bam,
[01:23:45] supernatural.
[01:23:46] Bam.
[01:23:47] I'm the devil.
[01:23:48] Right in the name.
[01:23:50] You're mine.
[01:23:51] Get over here.
[01:23:53] Yeah.
[01:23:55] It hits you very sudden.
[01:23:56] And I appreciate that.
[01:23:58] And it hits you very suddenly.
[01:23:59] Like the bell,
[01:24:00] like,
[01:24:00] like the bell toll.
[01:24:04] Just like,
[01:24:05] uh,
[01:24:06] hell bell wiggling his tail,
[01:24:07] AKA the little thing in the middle of the bell.
[01:24:10] That hits.
[01:24:10] What's that thing called?
[01:24:12] I,
[01:24:12] I,
[01:24:12] I,
[01:24:12] I,
[01:24:13] I,
[01:24:13] I,
[01:24:15] I,
[01:24:15] I,
[01:24:15] that sounds bad though.
[01:24:16] Uh,
[01:24:18] I was going to call the dog in there.
[01:24:20] A bell's uvula.
[01:24:22] Yeah,
[01:24:22] kind of technically either way.
[01:24:25] Um,
[01:24:27] while yes,
[01:24:27] there are some aspects to potentially improve,
[01:24:31] like,
[01:24:33] in my own opinion,
[01:24:34] I like,
[01:24:34] I would personally like it if she starts writing her brother's name.
[01:24:38] It's like,
[01:24:38] no,
[01:24:39] not,
[01:24:39] not his name or name.
[01:24:41] Like,
[01:24:41] Oh God,
[01:24:42] I would love that.
[01:24:44] Yeah.
[01:24:44] But even without that,
[01:24:46] I still honestly enjoyed the read.
[01:24:48] So I'm still going to give it a recommendation with a super recommendation.
[01:24:52] If a couple of things were changed.
[01:24:55] Gotcha.
[01:24:56] Especially like compared to other poke pastas,
[01:25:00] like I don't want to shit on poke pastas,
[01:25:02] but I'm going to shit on poke pastas because most of them are super scary,
[01:25:06] you know?
[01:25:07] And I think part of that is because a lot of the time poke pastas are written
[01:25:11] by high schoolers or like a younger reader,
[01:25:13] a younger author ship.
[01:25:16] Um,
[01:25:16] and we're getting older.
[01:25:19] Uh,
[01:25:20] so like,
[01:25:22] so like we're,
[01:25:24] we,
[01:25:24] so things that like scare teenagers or like high schoolers probably may,
[01:25:27] may not scare us as much,
[01:25:29] or we might kind of find more silly nowadays.
[01:25:32] Yeah.
[01:25:32] Or just because we have so much exposure to so many,
[01:25:36] all that varied types of creepypastas that like,
[01:25:38] we have to compare what we're reading to those.
[01:25:42] Like I look back on,
[01:25:43] a lot of poke pastas very fondly,
[01:25:46] not because I'm scared of them,
[01:25:48] but because like,
[01:25:49] Oh,
[01:25:49] that's so,
[01:25:50] so quaint.
[01:25:51] That's so,
[01:25:52] so,
[01:25:52] uh,
[01:25:53] like Raven.
[01:25:54] No,
[01:25:55] it's just like,
[01:25:55] God damn it.
[01:25:56] It's just so like,
[01:25:58] like there's a nostalgia vibe because of like,
[01:25:59] like it's spooky,
[01:26:00] like somebody trying to make a spooky thing out of a Pokemon and like Pokemon can be really fucking creepy.
[01:26:04] Yeah.
[01:26:05] Cubone.
[01:26:06] Cubone,
[01:26:06] uh,
[01:26:08] Palisand,
[01:26:09] like,
[01:26:10] um,
[01:26:12] fuck,
[01:26:12] Drifloon literally drags children to hell.
[01:26:15] Oh,
[01:26:16] that's nice of him.
[01:26:17] Um,
[01:26:18] like,
[01:26:18] yeah,
[01:26:18] there's all manner of Pokemon that there's a fucking ghost dog Pokemon that like,
[01:26:23] the more you,
[01:26:24] the more you hang out with it and like pet it and cuddle it,
[01:26:26] the more it's siphoning your life away.
[01:26:30] You know,
[01:26:31] for kids.
[01:26:32] Yeah.
[01:26:33] Oh man.
[01:26:33] There's so,
[01:26:34] again,
[01:26:34] see the fact that there is a Cthulhu analog in the Pokemon universe.
[01:26:39] Yeah.
[01:26:39] There's so much dark shit,
[01:26:40] even like lightly dark shit,
[01:26:42] like Charmander.
[01:26:44] If the fire on his tail goes out,
[01:26:46] he dies.
[01:26:47] So,
[01:26:48] um,
[01:26:49] this was brought,
[01:26:49] this actually was brought to my attention from Kame house parties podcast.
[01:26:53] When back in the,
[01:26:55] back in October,
[01:26:55] 2023,
[01:26:56] they did a slew of creepy pasta readings based off of things I suggested to them.
[01:27:01] Um,
[01:27:02] one of them was Pokemon creepy black.
[01:27:04] And as they were reading that one,
[01:27:05] they,
[01:27:06] after they finished reading it,
[01:27:07] they started like bringing up like some of the,
[01:27:10] like creepy trivia from Pokemon.
[01:27:11] And one of them that I did not realize,
[01:27:13] but it's like,
[01:27:14] all that is so horrifying.
[01:27:16] Your mask.
[01:27:18] Is a Pokemon.
[01:27:19] A ghost type Pokemon.
[01:27:22] That is,
[01:27:23] uh,
[01:27:24] is a ghost Pokemon.
[01:27:25] That is,
[01:27:26] was originally a human ghost that has,
[01:27:29] that,
[01:27:29] that still retains its memories of a,
[01:27:33] of being human.
[01:27:35] And that,
[01:27:36] and,
[01:27:36] and the,
[01:27:37] and the,
[01:27:37] and the mask that it carries around with it bears a resemblance to its original human face.
[01:27:43] That's fucked up actually.
[01:27:45] It's a,
[01:27:46] yeah.
[01:27:46] So like,
[01:27:46] imagine like,
[01:27:47] so wait,
[01:27:48] like in the cosmology of like the spirituality of,
[01:27:51] of,
[01:27:51] of Pokemon world,
[01:27:53] people's souls become ghost type Pokemon.
[01:27:56] And this particular ghost type Pokemon retains its human memories of when it was alive.
[01:28:04] And they are now,
[01:28:05] and then they are,
[01:28:06] they're basically like enslaved by youths to fight other Pokemon.
[01:28:12] Yeah.
[01:28:13] They're probably not okay with that.
[01:28:15] Yeah.
[01:28:16] They cry.
[01:28:17] Like,
[01:28:17] like,
[01:28:17] that's why he's like,
[01:28:18] oh,
[01:28:18] it's always crying.
[01:28:19] Oh yeah.
[01:28:20] Oh my God.
[01:28:21] It is crying.
[01:28:22] And then there's,
[01:28:23] and then there's also mimic you.
[01:28:25] Yeah.
[01:28:26] The Pokemon that like dresses up to look in this like rag doll looking version of like Pikachu.
[01:28:30] And the reason it does that is because it's visage is so horrifying that if you were to look at it,
[01:28:34] like look upon its actual form underneath the,
[01:28:36] the costume,
[01:28:37] you would die from fright.
[01:28:39] Really?
[01:28:40] Yes.
[01:28:43] Wow.
[01:28:43] There is so much cool dark lore in Pokemon.
[01:28:47] So I understand why.
[01:28:48] It's so small though,
[01:28:48] cause it's eyes are way down there.
[01:28:50] I know,
[01:28:51] but like,
[01:28:51] it's actually like that.
[01:28:52] It's,
[01:28:53] it's,
[01:28:53] that's all basically like shadow or like,
[01:28:54] you're not actually supposed to see it's,
[01:28:55] it's,
[01:28:56] it's true form because most of it's hidden in that,
[01:28:58] uh,
[01:28:58] in that creepy ratty costume it has.
[01:29:01] And the reason it chose Pikachu as a form for its costume is because it was the most liked Pokemon.
[01:29:08] Oh yeah.
[01:29:09] It's there.
[01:29:10] He just wants to befriend.
[01:29:12] Yeah.
[01:29:12] So like,
[01:29:12] again,
[01:29:13] I,
[01:29:13] I look at,
[01:29:14] like,
[01:29:14] I understand why a lot of people,
[01:29:16] especially like a lot of kids and a lot of high schoolers and stuff,
[01:29:18] that,
[01:29:20] make Pokepostas because they're,
[01:29:22] you,
[01:29:22] you get exposed to this really cool,
[01:29:24] creepy dark lore from the trivia in the Pokedex about a Pokemon,
[01:29:29] like really early on.
[01:29:32] So,
[01:29:33] yeah.
[01:29:33] Yeah.
[01:29:34] Also,
[01:29:36] so we said earlier,
[01:29:37] the,
[01:29:37] uh,
[01:29:38] the,
[01:29:38] the tongue of a bell,
[01:29:40] the little thing that like,
[01:29:42] that bangs it in on the inside of a bell.
[01:29:44] Yes.
[01:29:45] Is called a tongue or the clapper.
[01:29:48] Wait,
[01:29:48] it's,
[01:29:49] it's called a tongue.
[01:29:51] Yeah.
[01:29:51] The tongue of a bell.
[01:29:52] Oh,
[01:29:53] wow.
[01:29:53] Inside that swings and makes the bell ring is called the clapper.
[01:29:58] Damn.
[01:29:59] Thank you.
[01:30:01] Vocabulary.com.
[01:30:04] We're learning.
[01:30:04] We're learning.
[01:30:05] Oh,
[01:30:07] but yeah.
[01:30:08] So,
[01:30:10] so yeah,
[01:30:11] I guess all this to say,
[01:30:12] um,
[01:30:13] we both,
[01:30:14] for the most part,
[01:30:15] we both actually do recommend this story.
[01:30:17] Just like I could,
[01:30:18] I could use,
[01:30:19] I could,
[01:30:20] I could use it to have a little bit more work done to it.
[01:30:22] Hmm.
[01:30:23] Um,
[01:30:24] but again,
[01:30:24] otherwise,
[01:30:24] like I liked the idea.
[01:30:25] Uh,
[01:30:25] we both liked the ideas behind the story and,
[01:30:28] it kind of sets itself apart because of that from other Pokeposses that we've
[01:30:32] done in the past.
[01:30:33] Yeah.
[01:30:33] And like early on when I had the light revelation of,
[01:30:38] Oh yeah,
[01:30:38] right.
[01:30:39] She's writing this down after all these events happened.
[01:30:42] Hence why he's not reacting a whole lot to the weird stuff that's potentially
[01:30:47] happening in the initial playthrough,
[01:30:49] because this is all remembering what happened,
[01:30:53] not a direct transcript of things happening in the moment.
[01:30:58] Yeah.
[01:30:59] And this is all with the,
[01:31:01] uh,
[01:31:02] the overlay of my life is fucked up now.
[01:31:05] I need to write this down.
[01:31:07] To warn others not to fall into the same trap.
[01:31:10] Yes.
[01:31:11] Yeah.
[01:31:13] So pretty much by the end of the story,
[01:31:15] most of my problems with the story kind of got taken care of.
[01:31:19] So that's why my,
[01:31:22] um,
[01:31:22] recommendation changed.
[01:31:23] So,
[01:31:25] all right.
[01:31:26] And I think that's going to do it for this week's episode.
[01:31:29] So,
[01:31:30] uh,
[01:31:30] if you like what you heard or if you didn't leave us a comment in the comment section
[01:31:32] below where this gets posted,
[01:31:35] uh,
[01:31:36] we're all on Twitter in some varying capacity.
[01:31:39] Really not.
[01:31:40] Uh,
[01:31:41] gamer is at the gamer in yellow,
[01:31:42] but without that W at the end,
[01:31:43] because his name is very long.
[01:31:44] Yeah.
[01:31:45] And I'm at review cultist.
[01:31:47] Uh,
[01:31:47] I'm also on blue sky.
[01:31:49] So you can check me out there.
[01:31:50] You can also send us emails at al dente rigor mortis at gmail.com.
[01:31:53] That's a L D E N T E R I G A M O R T I S at gmail.com.
[01:31:58] Where you can also leave us suggestions for other creep pastas,
[01:32:01] SCPs,
[01:32:01] spooky things.
[01:32:02] You creep it.
[01:32:03] We'll peep it.
[01:32:04] Yeah.
[01:32:05] And if you'd like to help support our show financially,
[01:32:07] you can go to Patrion,
[01:32:08] select the back of your life to support us at.
[01:32:10] We have $2 and $5 tears for special episodes,
[01:32:12] early access and extra content.
[01:32:14] And to our patrons that are helping support the show.
[01:32:16] Thank you immensely.
[01:32:17] You're helping keep those hosting bills at bay.
[01:32:19] And as always,
[01:32:20] we very much appreciate that.
[01:32:23] And to our listeners and the office of these stories,
[01:32:26] thank you immensely.
[01:32:26] Cause without your listenership,
[01:32:28] it'd be like screaming into the void.
[01:32:30] And without your authorship,
[01:32:32] without these stories that you write and post online for people to look at
[01:32:35] and get spooked at or enjoy,
[01:32:38] we really wouldn't have much of a show cause we'd have nothing to talk about.
[01:32:41] So thank you until next time.
[01:32:44] I have been your host review called this.
[01:32:46] And I'm the gamer in yellow.
[01:32:47] And this has been very strange to say that because I was expecting Mikey to
[01:32:51] pipe in.
[01:32:52] Yep.
[01:32:53] Always going to be weird.
[01:32:54] And this has been al dente rigamortis.
[01:32:56] Sleep well.
