00:00:00 --> 00:00:22 Music.
00:00:22 --> 00:00:26 And welcome to another roll-up with your friends here at RPX.
00:00:26 --> 00:00:29 This morning, we are rolling up for Fallout.
00:00:30 --> 00:00:37 And so we've got the book, and we're going to see if we can make some end-of-the-world
00:00:37 --> 00:00:42 survivors, if we want to call them that. Cue the ink spots.
00:00:43 --> 00:00:47 So let us get this started with some fun.
00:00:47 --> 00:00:51 So we've got our character sheets and i'd
00:00:51 --> 00:00:54 like to point out that we're all special and by
00:00:54 --> 00:00:58 special i mean the acronym of strength perception endurance
00:00:58 --> 00:01:02 charisma intelligence agility and luck so
00:01:02 --> 00:01:05 those are the stats that we are going to be using here for fallout
00:01:05 --> 00:01:09 it's a very elegant little system to determine
00:01:09 --> 00:01:12 whether you succeed on a skill check or not you basically
00:01:12 --> 00:01:15 add in the attribute plus the skill
00:01:15 --> 00:01:18 and you roll 2d20 and you try to get
00:01:18 --> 00:01:21 under as i like to call it it's sort
00:01:21 --> 00:01:24 of like the bastard child of d20 shadow
00:01:24 --> 00:01:28 run and old an og call of cthulhu yes
00:01:28 --> 00:01:32 but it is a very yeah it's
00:01:32 --> 00:01:37 theoretically a very streamlined system let's see how quickly we can get through
00:01:37 --> 00:01:42 character gen so the quick and dirty easy way to do it is everybody starts with
00:01:42 --> 00:01:48 five and everything and then you've got five extra points to put into wherever
00:01:48 --> 00:01:52 you want uh you can cap things out at 10,
00:01:53 --> 00:01:57 and by doing quick and dirty math that means you could just go i'm gonna put
00:01:57 --> 00:01:58 everything into charisma.
00:01:59 --> 00:02:04 You can also reduce an attribute from five to four to gain an extra point if
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 you want to spend more on one thing.
00:02:06 --> 00:02:11 And there are a couple of different arrays. Now, one thing I would point out
00:02:11 --> 00:02:15 on that is that the first step is choosing your character origin.
00:02:16 --> 00:02:23 Yes. And that will impact your decision for how you're going to be special here in just a moment.
00:02:24 --> 00:02:29 Because we've got six different options to start with. You can go for Brotherhood
00:02:29 --> 00:02:32 of Steel, Ghoul, a Super Mutant, a Mr.
00:02:33 --> 00:02:38 Handy, which is one of those lovely floating robots, Survivor, or a Vault Dweller.
00:02:39 --> 00:02:42 Now, if you decide to roll a Super Mutant,
00:02:42 --> 00:02:48 your numbers change just a little bit, because now you have a higher maximum
00:02:48 --> 00:02:55 in Endurance and in Strength, for instance, but your Intellect caps at 6.
00:02:56 --> 00:02:59 So important consideration what's everybody thinking this
00:02:59 --> 00:03:03 morning should we also introduce us or
00:03:03 --> 00:03:05 for oh shoot yeah we might as well throw out the
00:03:05 --> 00:03:08 introductions i figured that if you're listening
00:03:08 --> 00:03:12 this far you probably know who we are but just to
00:03:12 --> 00:03:18 put names with the voices hi i'm david what's up i'm chris or crazon the man
00:03:18 --> 00:03:24 of many usernames hopping back on our abcs hi i'm brownie and i'm jeremy yeah
00:03:24 --> 00:03:29 sorry i broke the rule we even made david go i know.
00:03:35 --> 00:03:41 We always fail an alphabet it's fine there are no rules so brownie what you thinking,
00:03:42 --> 00:03:45 well we pregamed this a little bit earlier and everyone else kind of wanted
00:03:45 --> 00:03:48 to be an organic so i figured i'd be your friendly mr handy just to round out
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 the character types nice excellent it.
00:03:52 --> 00:03:55 I guess I'll go next. I'm thinking of actually doing a super mutant.
00:03:55 --> 00:03:58 I'm going to, we were talking earlier as well about super mutants.
00:03:58 --> 00:04:00 I think I'm going to stat out super dad.
00:04:01 --> 00:04:08 I love that. I see, I see six pips and I, I immediately think I'm going to do a random role.
00:04:09 --> 00:04:11 And so just take out the Mr. Handy.
00:04:12 --> 00:04:16 All right. I have no, no proclivities on what I play and I don't really care.
00:04:16 --> 00:04:17 And we'll see what happens.
00:04:18 --> 00:04:22 And I'm going to go last. So tell me what you end up with.
00:04:23 --> 00:04:26 I'm going to re-roll that four, because that would mean Mr. Handy.
00:04:27 --> 00:04:31 Apparently I'm going to go with a ghoul. So ghouls are fun.
00:04:31 --> 00:04:35 I think just to make things interesting, I am going to join you on ghoul.
00:04:36 --> 00:04:40 Because that means that we're going to have a nice little rule thing we're going
00:04:40 --> 00:04:41 to talk about here in a little bit.
00:04:42 --> 00:04:46 Because with a ghoul, a super mutant, and Mr. Handy, and then another ghoul,
00:04:47 --> 00:04:50 we don't have to worry about radiation. Yep.
00:04:52 --> 00:04:58 As a matter of fact, that means that two of us are actually healed by radiation.
00:04:58 --> 00:05:00 All right. Who hired the glowing one?
00:05:03 --> 00:05:08 I'm sorry. I think what you mean is medic. Yeah. Necromancer.
00:05:10 --> 00:05:17 Necromancer. Yeah, yeah. You know what? Now that you say that, that's character name.
00:05:18 --> 00:05:21 Necromancer. necromatic it's i want
00:05:21 --> 00:05:24 to have a i want to have a ghoul that runs around in the mech suit
00:05:24 --> 00:05:28 and called him the mechomancer i thought
00:05:28 --> 00:05:35 that was me how about the necrodancer mechrodancer god damn yeah or the undead
00:05:35 --> 00:05:42 unicorn it's a necroprancer which you can't be there is a giddy up a giddy up
00:05:42 --> 00:05:47 buttercup robot in fallout universe you just give that thing a horn and give it a an a give it,
00:05:47 --> 00:05:50 give it an AI and you have the necroprancer.
00:05:54 --> 00:05:57 Necromancer does have two potential meanings, just saying. Yeah,
00:05:57 --> 00:06:01 that's true. I mean, it is Fallout. There is romancing options, usually.
00:06:04 --> 00:06:09 Come here, you sexy robot. Hello, horsey companion. But let's not get too off
00:06:09 --> 00:06:11 track because we do have a limited amount of time today. Hello, nurse.
00:06:14 --> 00:06:19 So, I'm going to go for a somewhat balanced ish are right. I'm going to drop
00:06:19 --> 00:06:20 my strength down to four.
00:06:21 --> 00:06:26 I'd try my best not to die. Charisma, intelligence, and agility,
00:06:26 --> 00:06:27 I'm going to bump up to seven.
00:06:28 --> 00:06:31 And then I'm going to leave perception, endurance, and luck at a five.
00:06:31 --> 00:06:35 Which ones did you say you dropped down? I dropped my strength.
00:06:36 --> 00:06:43 I'm planning on either going shooty, shooty, bang, bang, or leaving the melee to the rest of y'all.
00:06:44 --> 00:06:49 Specifically the Mr. Handy, who is going to have potentially a buzzsaw for a hand?
00:06:50 --> 00:06:55 One of my hands, yeah. And for my super mutant friend, I'm just going to get
00:06:55 --> 00:06:57 him a really, really big retch.
00:06:58 --> 00:07:01 Or some kind of just solid beat stick.
00:07:02 --> 00:07:05 And you said we got an extra five to play with, right? Yeah.
00:07:06 --> 00:07:08 Basically start with five and everything, and then you've got five to play with.
00:07:09 --> 00:07:15 They do give us a couple of options looking at the thing where they will just
00:07:15 --> 00:07:17 basically say, here's a nice little array.
00:07:17 --> 00:07:23 And then after we've chosen our origins and you'll notice that each of the different
00:07:23 --> 00:07:26 origins has special rules for them.
00:07:26 --> 00:07:30 So for instance, for the ghoul, you're immune to radiation damage.
00:07:30 --> 00:07:33 In fact, you're healed by it. You regain one hit point for every three points
00:07:33 --> 00:07:35 of radiation damage inflicted upon you.
00:07:35 --> 00:07:39 And if you rest it in a radiated location, you may re-roll your dice pool when
00:07:39 --> 00:07:41 checking if your injuries heal.
00:07:41 --> 00:07:45 In addition, survival becomes a tag skill, increasing it by two ranks.
00:07:45 --> 00:07:52 So that means that as a ghoul I start with a survival at 2 and I get to mark it as a tag.
00:07:53 --> 00:07:56 You age at a much decreased rate and you're probably older than your unmutated
00:07:56 --> 00:08:01 companions. You may even have survived the Great War of 2077 but you're sterile.
00:08:02 --> 00:08:05 The first generation of ghouls is the last as the saying goes.
00:08:05 --> 00:08:09 You may face discrimination from smooth skins, humans who aren't ghouls,
00:08:09 --> 00:08:13 increasing the difficulty or complication of your charisma tests
00:08:13 --> 00:08:16 depending on your character depending on your
00:08:16 --> 00:08:20 opponent's beliefs so super dad as
00:08:20 --> 00:08:23 a super mutant they have an increase they start
00:08:23 --> 00:08:26 with an increase to their strength and endurance so instead
00:08:26 --> 00:08:30 of five i start at seven for those two stats and
00:08:30 --> 00:08:33 i have a maximum strength and endurance limit of
00:08:33 --> 00:08:36 12 rather than 10 but my maximum
00:08:36 --> 00:08:40 intelligence and charisma are reduced
00:08:40 --> 00:08:43 to six so and i
00:08:43 --> 00:08:50 may have more than four ranks in any or i may not have more than i'm may you
00:08:50 --> 00:08:54 may you may not have more than four ranks in any skill okay and skills okay
00:08:54 --> 00:08:58 you gotcha and i'm completely immune to radiation and poison damage but i do
00:08:58 --> 00:09:00 not regenerate from radiations.
00:09:01 --> 00:09:03 You stand over seven feet tall and your body
00:09:03 --> 00:09:06 is bulky and muscular your skin is green
00:09:06 --> 00:09:09 yellow or gray regardless of what color you
00:09:09 --> 00:09:12 are regardless of what color it was when
00:09:12 --> 00:09:15 you were human you do not seem to
00:09:15 --> 00:09:18 age but you are sterile you can only
00:09:18 --> 00:09:21 wear armor which was made specifically to
00:09:21 --> 00:09:24 fit super mutants and so super
00:09:24 --> 00:09:27 dad has i'm kind of i just
00:09:27 --> 00:09:30 like threw my uh my stats together here i figure
00:09:30 --> 00:09:34 if i'm gonna be super dad with with super dad jokes and such because
00:09:34 --> 00:09:37 yes that's gonna be my gimmick oh no my job yeah yeah
00:09:37 --> 00:09:40 don't worry brownie i'll be i'll be i'll be dming you
00:09:40 --> 00:09:43 if i ever run this game of this character for you it's
00:09:43 --> 00:09:47 like a help but uh
00:09:47 --> 00:09:50 i've got a strength of seven i basically my endurance and
00:09:50 --> 00:09:52 uh and strength are are staying at what
00:09:52 --> 00:09:56 they were so seven perception is six charisma.
00:09:56 --> 00:09:59 Six intelligence six agility is five
00:09:59 --> 00:10:02 and luck is seven so because
00:10:02 --> 00:10:05 i figured that he's one lucky bastard and i tried to level i tried
00:10:05 --> 00:10:08 to max out his his charisma as much as possible for these dad
00:10:08 --> 00:10:11 jokes going off
00:10:11 --> 00:10:14 of having just run a roll-up for an arthurian western
00:10:14 --> 00:10:17 game and some discussions we
00:10:17 --> 00:10:20 had earlier my character is mr handy as we know who
00:10:20 --> 00:10:23 i've named fistful of serpents or fist for short
00:10:23 --> 00:10:26 a reference to all the arms i'm going
00:10:26 --> 00:10:29 seven strength four perception six endurance five charisma
00:10:29 --> 00:10:33 eight intelligence four agility and six luck and
00:10:33 --> 00:10:37 i ended up going with the ghoul build since i'm
00:10:37 --> 00:10:40 traveling with someone that's fairly charismatic i dropped
00:10:40 --> 00:10:43 my charisma down to four in my
00:10:43 --> 00:10:46 strength total or my stat totals ended up being
00:10:46 --> 00:10:49 strength 5 perception 7 endurance 6
00:10:49 --> 00:10:52 charisma 4 intelligence 6 agility 7 and
00:10:52 --> 00:10:59 luck 5 uh so i guess next up now that we've done the origins and the special
00:10:59 --> 00:11:04 attributes who's we move i suppose we move on to tag skills and then buying
00:11:04 --> 00:11:12 skill ranks exactly so first off we each get to start with three tag skills.
00:11:12 --> 00:11:16 Now, Jeremy and I start with survival as a tag skill automatically,
00:11:16 --> 00:11:19 which means that we will have technically four tags.
00:11:20 --> 00:11:23 So we get survival for free, and then we get to pick three different skills.
00:11:24 --> 00:11:28 Because I am going to be the necromatic, I am going to take medicine,
00:11:28 --> 00:11:33 and I feel like small guns and speech are probably going to be my other two options,
00:11:33 --> 00:11:40 because with those as tag skills, that gives me the option to talk our way out
00:11:40 --> 00:11:42 of it or shoot our way if talking fails.
00:11:43 --> 00:11:46 Also medicine so that I can patch people up after the fight.
00:11:46 --> 00:11:48 And it's like, you're fine here. Just drink this glowing water.
00:11:48 --> 00:11:50 It's like Gatorade. Only not.
00:11:51 --> 00:11:55 I'm kind of seeing my character is like a repair based character.
00:11:55 --> 00:11:56 Cause hi, I'm Brownie. That's what I do.
00:11:57 --> 00:12:02 So I have repair tagged. Actually, all of my, all of my skills are somewhat
00:12:02 --> 00:12:06 involved in what my pincher attachments are, which I probably should mention
00:12:06 --> 00:12:08 first are my arm attachments.
00:12:08 --> 00:12:10 I'm going to get the pincher so I can manipulate things. The buzzsaw because
00:12:10 --> 00:12:13 buzzsaw and the flamer because also Brownie.
00:12:13 --> 00:12:17 So along those lines i'm gonna have repair unarmed feeds
00:12:17 --> 00:12:20 the pincher and the buzzsaw and big guns feeds the flamer because
00:12:20 --> 00:12:25 brownie because brownie yes and if you don't know what that means get to know
00:12:25 --> 00:12:30 me i'm as i ended up going i think my guy's going to be kind of more of the
00:12:30 --> 00:12:34 the sneaky demolitions guy and the throwing things guy because i have high perception
00:12:34 --> 00:12:38 high agility so So I pick explosives,
00:12:38 --> 00:12:40 sneak, and throwing.
00:12:41 --> 00:12:45 All right. I'm going to, since my character, so is my character basically,
00:12:45 --> 00:12:48 is my character the charismatic one or is somebody else got that one?
00:12:48 --> 00:12:50 I've got charisma. Okay.
00:12:51 --> 00:12:55 Because I was, Tim, it was like the super mutant who's like,
00:12:55 --> 00:12:57 I've maxed out what I can't. Super mutant is our talkie.
00:12:58 --> 00:13:02 Because I would tag speech, big guns, and barter.
00:13:04 --> 00:13:07 Oh so you're really good at buying big guns is what i'm hearing
00:13:07 --> 00:13:10 yeah i was tempted to also get like
00:13:10 --> 00:13:13 i was tempted between barter or pilot because it's like pilot is
00:13:13 --> 00:13:15 like ground craft kind of thing or like vehicles and i
00:13:15 --> 00:13:18 just want to have that dad on mower dads on mowers
00:13:18 --> 00:13:21 situation what do
00:13:21 --> 00:13:24 you guys think should i go with barter or should i go with a pilot so i
00:13:24 --> 00:13:27 can drive so i can drive
00:13:27 --> 00:13:30 a lawn mower or tractor you know
00:13:30 --> 00:13:33 50 50 i'm gonna start with
00:13:33 --> 00:13:35 a barter at two but i've got
00:13:35 --> 00:13:39 a point left after looking through because i think i've got one actually i am
00:13:39 --> 00:13:45 going to go with pilot over barter because we were joking earlier before recording
00:13:45 --> 00:13:50 that i that super dad is also basically just vin diesel from and it's and he
00:13:50 --> 00:13:55 doesn't he doesn't have he doesn't have he doesn't have a.
00:13:57 --> 00:14:05 Mini nuke. He has family. Which just means that all of his kin that are in his
00:14:05 --> 00:14:08 group are all just super mutant suiciders.
00:14:08 --> 00:14:13 So he doesn't have the mini nuke. His family does. You know what?
00:14:15 --> 00:14:19 I love it and I am going to go for, I've got an extra point for barter so I'll
00:14:19 --> 00:14:21 put barter at three. Okay, cool.
00:14:22 --> 00:14:27 So question, never playing the system. What is the difference between a tag
00:14:27 --> 00:14:28 skill and a buy skill rank?
00:14:29 --> 00:14:31 Okay, so there's two actual differences.
00:14:32 --> 00:14:33 First of all...
00:14:34 --> 00:14:39 Your crit range is expanded just a little bit on your tag skills.
00:14:39 --> 00:14:43 So that makes a bit of a difference there. Also, your tag skills are the things
00:14:43 --> 00:14:46 that you are especially good at.
00:14:46 --> 00:14:50 So that's why you have a slightly higher range on them.
00:14:50 --> 00:14:56 The other thing is that your tag skills are going to determine some of your starting gear.
00:14:56 --> 00:15:00 So for instance, since you and I both have survival as a tag,
00:15:00 --> 00:15:04 that means that once we actually start getting into our tag skill items,
00:15:04 --> 00:15:06 which you can find here on page 81.
00:15:08 --> 00:15:12 This is my lookup song. This is my lookup song.
00:15:14 --> 00:15:17 Okay, so items gained from tag skills.
00:15:17 --> 00:15:24 So from survival, you and I get to start with two purified water and one iguana on a stick.
00:15:24 --> 00:15:26 Like you do. Like you do.
00:15:27 --> 00:15:31 I have three ranks in barter, but it is not one of my tag skills.
00:15:31 --> 00:15:35 So that means that I am not going to start with the 2d20 additional caps.
00:15:35 --> 00:15:42 So mine are, let's see, just to run through them here, I've got small guns,
00:15:42 --> 00:15:45 speech, survival, and medicine as my tags.
00:15:45 --> 00:15:50 So that means that I'm going to start with a first aid kit and a Stimpak for medicine.
00:15:51 --> 00:15:57 For small guns, I get to start with six plus three die roll additional shots
00:15:57 --> 00:16:00 of ammunition of a type I already possess.
00:16:00 --> 00:16:03 Let's see for speech i've got a formal hat and formal
00:16:03 --> 00:16:10 clothing so i may be a dead man but i got some finery you are a dapper ghoul
00:16:10 --> 00:16:16 i am a dapper ghoul and then for survival the aforementioned two purified water
00:16:16 --> 00:16:21 and guana on a stick and for the buying of the skill ranks is there a cap on
00:16:21 --> 00:16:23 how many you can drop into something,
00:16:24 --> 00:16:30 Fixed is the absolute max, but I think I read you can only do four at character gen. Yeah. Yes.
00:16:30 --> 00:16:34 And as a super mutant, I'm, I'm stuck with four, like in any skill. Okay.
00:16:35 --> 00:16:38 So four is my four is max is what you're saying. Four is max at,
00:16:38 --> 00:16:39 at a character creation. Yeah.
00:16:40 --> 00:16:43 Okay. It didn't say that in the creating character, character summary.
00:16:43 --> 00:16:44 So that's why I was curious.
00:16:45 --> 00:16:50 Something tells me it's probably, Oh, so actually in the skill section here.
00:16:50 --> 00:16:55 So yeah, like the start of four, but then skills can't go below a rank of zero
00:16:55 --> 00:16:58 and can't be increased beyond six so in regular,
00:16:58 --> 00:17:03 like when you're leveling it up and stuff so okay
00:17:03 --> 00:17:06 so i guess we'll do that and here it is during character
00:17:06 --> 00:17:09 creation you cannot increase any skill to a rank above
00:17:09 --> 00:17:13 three unless you're creating a character of level three or above so our hard
00:17:13 --> 00:17:19 cap for starting is level three until it all kind of lies this morning oh no.
00:17:16 --> 00:17:22 Music.
00:17:19 --> 00:17:24 We're we're reading grazon that was your spot to say your line what sorry i
00:17:24 --> 00:17:27 i didn't i was too busy like looking at something what sorry,
00:17:27 --> 00:17:32 we're learning we're learning whoa yes sir we're learning we're learning whoa,
00:17:32 --> 00:17:38 we're learning we're learning thank you what what page is the tag skills on
00:17:38 --> 00:17:48 like the explanation of the tech skills uh it's 58 yeah yes so next choose three
00:17:48 --> 00:17:49 skills to be your tag skills.
00:17:49 --> 00:17:52 They are the most important skills to your character and represent specific
00:17:52 --> 00:17:55 areas of expertise and knowledge that your character possesses.
00:17:56 --> 00:17:58 Your origin may grant an additional tag skill.
00:17:58 --> 00:18:03 When using a tag skill, you score a critical success on any die which rolls
00:18:03 --> 00:18:04 equal to or under the skill's rank.
00:18:06 --> 00:18:10 Normally, the way that it works is you roll the dice, and if you roll a one...
00:18:11 --> 00:18:15 That's a critical success. If it's one of your tag skills, if it's under your
00:18:15 --> 00:18:19 rank, then it's a critical success.
00:18:20 --> 00:18:25 So as a for instance on that, I have small guns as a tag skill.
00:18:25 --> 00:18:29 So that I have a grand total of three points in it.
00:18:29 --> 00:18:35 Because I started with the two because it's a tag plus one, which I put in from the attribute.
00:18:35 --> 00:18:41 So if I am going to shoot gun, that means that I use agility plus the ranks,
00:18:42 --> 00:18:45 which gives me a total of 7 plus 3, which is 10.
00:18:45 --> 00:18:49 So I roll 2d20, and I try to roll under a 10.
00:18:50 --> 00:18:56 Now if I roll, say, let me just grab 2d20, and let's roll it up and see what we get.
00:18:56 --> 00:18:59 Well, there we go. So I've got a 3 and an 11.
00:19:00 --> 00:19:05 So the 11 is a miss because it's higher than a 10. But the 3 is a critical success
00:19:05 --> 00:19:09 because it is not only less than a 10, it is less than my ranks.
00:19:10 --> 00:19:11 Because it's a tag skill.
00:19:12 --> 00:19:17 Gotcha. Now, on the other hand, if I were to make that same roll on barter,
00:19:17 --> 00:19:19 which I also have three ranks in,
00:19:20 --> 00:19:26 and I also have a 7 in the attribute that fits, because a 7 in charisma plus
00:19:26 --> 00:19:31 a barter at three ranks, that would be only a success because i did not roll
00:19:31 --> 00:19:34 a one and barter is not a tag skill,
00:19:35 --> 00:19:38 also it should be pointed out that critical successes actually mean that you
00:19:38 --> 00:19:42 have so in this game you're trying to get like you you're trying to get multiple
00:19:42 --> 00:19:47 successes from your multiple dice rolls uh so like like so if you go under if
00:19:47 --> 00:19:50 you get under a roll or get under a target number um.
00:19:51 --> 00:19:55 And it's not a tag skill, that's just a single success, unless it's a one,
00:19:55 --> 00:19:58 which then becomes a critical success, which actually counts as two successes
00:19:58 --> 00:20:03 when it comes to the number of successes you're trying to get for any challenge
00:20:03 --> 00:20:04 or even in combat and such.
00:20:04 --> 00:20:11 And I am scrolling back up to page 50 because let's talk about likes and dislikes on the book.
00:20:12 --> 00:20:16 Like, as long as you start from page 50 and bookmark it,
00:20:16 --> 00:20:19 it takes you to step-by-step character
00:20:19 --> 00:20:22 creation the pdf we have is not
00:20:22 --> 00:20:25 hyperlinked and so we did say well that's a bit
00:20:25 --> 00:20:28 of a point to get however the physical book does have
00:20:28 --> 00:20:31 a ribbon so that adds a little bit extra but
00:20:31 --> 00:20:34 if you have a physical book versus a p and not a pdf if
00:20:34 --> 00:20:37 only they'd hype now i will say that the artwork
00:20:37 --> 00:20:40 for the book is amazing because we've
00:20:40 --> 00:20:43 got art on practically every page some of
00:20:43 --> 00:20:46 it is very much what you would expect from fallout
00:20:46 --> 00:20:50 where it's the nice post-apocalyptic highly detailed
00:20:50 --> 00:20:56 but we get pit boy doing pit boy things for a lot of the stuff it's like for
00:20:56 --> 00:21:02 the special for all of the attributes there is a brief description of what each
00:21:02 --> 00:21:08 one does and like for the strength we've got pit boy flexing yeah which i think
00:21:08 --> 00:21:09 actually most of these are from.
00:21:10 --> 00:21:14 Cards or the uh the perks and stuff like that that you'd get in fallout 4 or
00:21:14 --> 00:21:18 fallout 76 i think those are some a lot of the graphics from those from those
00:21:18 --> 00:21:21 games oh yeah i think i think mostly fallout 4 because these look like all the
00:21:21 --> 00:21:23 like a lot of these look like some of the uh the
00:21:24 --> 00:21:27 illustrations i remember from the the perk list in
00:21:27 --> 00:21:30 in fallout 4 some of these perks aren't fallout 4 related
00:21:30 --> 00:21:34 so those probably came from the 76 ones but yeah i agree with you and they like
00:21:34 --> 00:21:38 reusing assets in their games anyway yeah also a lot of the the art looks to
00:21:38 --> 00:21:42 be as well concept art from the games as well from what i've noticed which is
00:21:42 --> 00:21:49 is fine it's it's cool like they they got the assets uh when they got the ip so they're gonna use it.
00:21:51 --> 00:21:55 So do we want to move on to step four with the perks?
00:21:55 --> 00:22:01 You know, we might as well, considering that that's right about where we're at. Yep.
00:22:02 --> 00:22:07 So everybody gets to pick their starting perk. This is like the shopping montage
00:22:07 --> 00:22:10 in every other game, because this is where all the interesting stuff happens,
00:22:10 --> 00:22:11 and it might take us forever.
00:22:12 --> 00:22:17 Fortunately, we only have to choose one perk, unless your origin gave you extra,
00:22:17 --> 00:22:20 which some of them do. I'm going to make mine easy.
00:22:20 --> 00:22:25 And go with the jury rigging crate. I can fix anything without any components,
00:22:25 --> 00:22:26 but it'll break the next time you use it.
00:22:27 --> 00:22:29 I'm not going to lie. I'm half tempted
00:22:29 --> 00:22:35 to go with Lady Killer just for the funniness of it. Oh, Dad, gross.
00:22:37 --> 00:22:41 Are we going to get a new mom? Maybe. Every day.
00:22:43 --> 00:22:50 A new mom in every port? Yeah. Okay, so I am tempted to either pick up Gun Nut or Gun Slinger.
00:22:51 --> 00:22:55 Gun Nut allows me to modify small guns and heavy weapons.
00:22:55 --> 00:22:58 Each rank in this perk unlocks an additional rank of weapon mods.
00:22:59 --> 00:23:02 Each time you take this perk, the level requirement increases by 4.
00:23:03 --> 00:23:07 Or, I can take Gunslinger. When you make an attack with a one-handed ranged
00:23:07 --> 00:23:10 weapon with a fire rate of 2 or lower, you can increase weapons damage by plus
00:23:10 --> 00:23:14 1 per rank of, you know, Pip-Boy rolled on the die.
00:23:15 --> 00:23:18 In addition, you may re-roll the Hit Location die each time you take this perk.
00:23:18 --> 00:23:23 The lip you know what i'm taking gunslinger fair because
00:23:23 --> 00:23:26 let's be honest we're not
00:23:26 --> 00:23:29 going to be talking our way out of everything every time
00:23:29 --> 00:23:32 it's just i know
00:23:32 --> 00:23:35 us far too well i'll see
00:23:35 --> 00:23:38 this kind of toss-up like i could do like the lady killer for
00:23:38 --> 00:23:44 laughs or i could also just i could have the mysterious stranger well
00:23:44 --> 00:23:47 let's break them down as to what they actually do all
00:23:47 --> 00:23:50 right so the lady killer here it is
00:23:50 --> 00:23:53 so black widow or lady killer depending on on
00:23:53 --> 00:23:56 your character only has one rank it requires
00:23:56 --> 00:23:59 a charisma of six actually do i can i even
00:23:59 --> 00:24:02 do i have a charisma six sweet the black
00:24:02 --> 00:24:05 widow perk affects men and masculine characters while
00:24:05 --> 00:24:09 the lady killer perk affects women and feminine characters they
00:24:09 --> 00:24:12 are otherwise identical when you attempt to
00:24:12 --> 00:24:15 when you attempt a charisma based skill
00:24:15 --> 00:24:19 test to influence a character of the
00:24:19 --> 00:24:26 chosen gender you may re-roll 1d20 in addition your attacks inflict plus one
00:24:26 --> 00:24:32 damage or plus one of the combat of the of the combat dice additional worth
00:24:32 --> 00:24:37 of additional damage against characters of that chosen gender so it works both.
00:24:37 --> 00:24:45 For like charisma and and and for battle and for combat oh that one is kind of.
00:24:46 --> 00:24:50 You know, I'm tempted to look at that one too, because I also have the Riz.
00:24:51 --> 00:24:56 Yeah. Meanwhile, the Mysterious Stranger perk has only one rank and requires luck seven.
00:24:57 --> 00:25:01 From time to time, a Mysterious Stranger comes to your aid with lethal results.
00:25:01 --> 00:25:05 At the start of a combat encounter, you may spend one luck point.
00:25:05 --> 00:25:11 If you do so, then at any point during the scene.
00:25:11 --> 00:25:14 The GM may have a Mysterious Stranger appear, make a
00:25:14 --> 00:25:18 single ranged attack against an enemy you attacked or
00:25:18 --> 00:25:21 who just attacked you and then vanish if
00:25:21 --> 00:25:24 you spend a luck point and the mysterious stranger does not appear
00:25:24 --> 00:25:27 the gm must refund the luck point you
00:25:27 --> 00:25:30 spent the stranger has an agility of 10
00:25:30 --> 00:25:33 a small guns skill of six and counts
00:25:33 --> 00:25:37 small small guns as tag skills they
00:25:37 --> 00:25:40 always roll 3d20 for attacks rather
00:25:40 --> 00:25:43 than the original than the normal 2d 20 and their
00:25:43 --> 00:25:46 attack uses a custom 44 magnum revolver
00:25:46 --> 00:25:50 but now inflicts eight
00:25:50 --> 00:25:54 combat dice worth of piercing with worth
00:25:54 --> 00:25:58 of damage piercing one vicious physical
00:25:58 --> 00:26:01 damage they always appear within
00:26:01 --> 00:26:04 their weapon's ideal range any attempt
00:26:04 --> 00:26:07 to find where the stranger went after their attack
00:26:07 --> 00:26:11 fails i love that yeah i
00:26:11 --> 00:26:14 you get a you get a friend that shows up
00:26:14 --> 00:26:17 and takes one shot and just disappears it's like
00:26:17 --> 00:26:19 who the hell was that guy oh that's
00:26:19 --> 00:26:23 just the mysterious stranger he got away again
00:26:23 --> 00:26:26 to quote the the
00:26:26 --> 00:26:29 synth detective from fallout 4 who apparently
00:26:29 --> 00:26:32 always notices him and is like has a
00:26:32 --> 00:26:35 an ongoing case case file for.
00:26:35 --> 00:26:38 The mysterious stranger i mean they do shop in the same department
00:26:38 --> 00:26:41 store that's true yeah so i'm
00:26:41 --> 00:26:46 torn like do i want my do i want super dad to have a mysterious stranger friend
00:26:46 --> 00:26:52 or do i want him to be like strangely charismatic toward one gender or the other
00:26:52 --> 00:26:56 which one of you is taking dog meat is another good question oh god yeah and
00:26:56 --> 00:27:01 and super mutant dog meat is i think can be a super a super mutant dog .
00:27:03 --> 00:27:11 Because they exist so dog meat is another perk so one rank and you have to have a charisma of five,
00:27:11 --> 00:27:14 you are you aren't alone in the wilderness you have
00:27:14 --> 00:27:17 a pet dog that serves as a friend and an ally in dangerous
00:27:17 --> 00:27:20 times the dog has the profile shown on
00:27:20 --> 00:27:23 the side of the page which actually gives so basically has all its
00:27:23 --> 00:27:26 own like stat category and is
00:27:26 --> 00:27:29 treated as an ally mpc character creature under your command
00:27:29 --> 00:27:33 see page xx according to the pdf weird
00:27:33 --> 00:27:36 if you need to forage
00:27:36 --> 00:27:40 for food or water your dog looks after themselves
00:27:40 --> 00:27:43 if your dog is slain then
00:27:43 --> 00:27:46 you either find a new dog before the next adventure or
00:27:46 --> 00:27:50 you may trade this perk for a different one after
00:27:50 --> 00:27:52 this adventure so i love how what hallory
00:27:52 --> 00:27:57 has pre-built in the the one thing that they had in i think fallout 3 where
00:27:57 --> 00:28:03 if dog meat died in fallout 3 a a puppy would show up like a few a few minutes
00:28:03 --> 00:28:09 later in game and that was your dog and dog meat came back but yes you can have
00:28:09 --> 00:28:11 the littlest irradiated hobo.
00:28:13 --> 00:28:16 I don't know what to choose and so is
00:28:16 --> 00:28:19 the the conundrum of of perks and
00:28:19 --> 00:28:22 follow d2d 20 the shopping montage
00:28:22 --> 00:28:25 super mutant lucy oh my
00:28:25 --> 00:28:28 god who's who's coughs cough forth
00:28:28 --> 00:28:32 radioactive material much like godzilla okay we're
00:28:32 --> 00:28:36 if we're going that route technically the dog equivalent in fallout 3 for super
00:28:36 --> 00:28:41 mutants was a centaur those like horrible like those horrible cronenberg monsters
00:28:41 --> 00:28:49 i want your mysterious stranger to be a centaur it's just a centaur with a fedora,
00:28:50 --> 00:28:53 so just gonna throw this out there for all of y'all,
00:28:54 --> 00:28:59 When it comes to, oh, no, it is so hard to choose. What's my perk going to be?
00:28:59 --> 00:29:04 Keep in mind, this is not the only perk we get. This is true.
00:29:04 --> 00:29:09 I think Super Dad needs Super Dog. I think I'll go with that.
00:29:09 --> 00:29:10 The super-est, good-est boy.
00:29:11 --> 00:29:15 Yeah. Let's take your dad's crypto.
00:29:17 --> 00:29:22 This is Super Dad's crypto. And not the crypto with C, a crypto with a K.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:28 Ooh. All right. Not knowing much about the system, I'm kind of torn between
00:29:28 --> 00:29:31 a couple of them. So which ones are you looking at?
00:29:32 --> 00:29:35 I am currently looking at, the first one I'm looking at is awareness.
00:29:36 --> 00:29:42 When you take the aim minor action at a target within close range,
00:29:42 --> 00:29:44 you spot their weakness and can attack more efficiently.
00:29:44 --> 00:29:47 The next attack you make against the target gains the
00:29:47 --> 00:29:50 piercing one damage effect or improves the
00:29:50 --> 00:29:53 rating of any existing piercing x damage effect by one
00:29:53 --> 00:29:57 second one was center mass
00:29:57 --> 00:30:00 when you make a ranged attack you may choose to
00:30:00 --> 00:30:03 strike your target's torso location or equivalent for creatures
00:30:03 --> 00:30:06 that use a different location table without increasing
00:30:06 --> 00:30:10 the difficulty of the attack in addition you may re-roll 1d20
00:30:10 --> 00:30:14 when making the test for your attack ghost when
00:30:14 --> 00:30:17 you attempt agility plus sneak test in shadows or darkness
00:30:17 --> 00:30:20 the first additional d20 you buy is
00:30:20 --> 00:30:27 free the normal maximum of 5d20 still applies and there was one more so that
00:30:27 --> 00:30:33 free d20 is pretty good too yeah it seemed pretty nice and then moving target
00:30:33 --> 00:30:38 when you take the sprint action your defense increases by plus one until the start of your next turn.
00:30:39 --> 00:30:41 I kind of like Ghost a little bit better.
00:30:42 --> 00:30:44 So here's the thing to keep in mind.
00:30:45 --> 00:30:52 As long as we're rolling well, we will have plenty of caps to spend on extra D20, which is a thing.
00:30:53 --> 00:30:56 Basically, whoever is running this game, whoever that happens to be,
00:30:56 --> 00:30:58 I think I vote we draft Thornsburg.
00:30:59 --> 00:31:01 You just make Adam do it.
00:31:02 --> 00:31:07 And basically the way that it works is when we crit, which is going to happen
00:31:07 --> 00:31:09 a lot with our tag skills, let me tell you,
00:31:10 --> 00:31:12 we get to add a cap to our
00:31:12 --> 00:31:15 reserve and we can basically spend
00:31:15 --> 00:31:19 caps from our party reserve which goes all the way up to six to
00:31:19 --> 00:31:25 buy extra dice so when we really need to make this shot or we really need to
00:31:25 --> 00:31:31 make this negotiation we can spend caps to get extra and basically having a
00:31:31 --> 00:31:36 free extra die anytime that you make that sneak check that's going to come in
00:31:36 --> 00:31:39 handy a lot more than a couple of the other ones.
00:31:39 --> 00:31:42 So I would lean towards that for your first one.
00:31:43 --> 00:31:47 I was kind of leaning towards that one anyway, and then you sold me on it. So ghosted it.
00:31:48 --> 00:31:51 Now here's what happens when we do hit character advancement.
00:31:52 --> 00:31:57 So just to throw it out there, every time that you hit advancement,
00:31:57 --> 00:31:59 your maximum health points will increase by one.
00:32:00 --> 00:32:03 You choose a skill to increase by one rank up to a maximum of six,
00:32:03 --> 00:32:05 and then you gain a single perk.
00:32:06 --> 00:32:09 Most perks have some requirements which your characters must meet for you to
00:32:09 --> 00:32:12 select the perks, such as specific level, high enough special attribute,
00:32:12 --> 00:32:14 or another aspect of your character.
00:32:16 --> 00:32:20 So, keep in mind that we will get access to more perks as we go.
00:32:21 --> 00:32:26 The level progression goes all the way up to level 21, so that means that there
00:32:26 --> 00:32:28 are 20 more perks that we can each pick up.
00:32:29 --> 00:32:32 So don't worry, perks are going to come rolling in.
00:32:32 --> 00:32:35 They're just going to keep a rolling, rolling, rolling. Now,
00:32:35 --> 00:32:42 the tricky part, though, is that some of them have requirements of higher specials.
00:32:42 --> 00:32:48 So, for instance, if I wanted to make a sniper, if I wanted to pick up the sniper
00:32:48 --> 00:32:52 perk, that requires perception eight, agility six. Yes.
00:32:53 --> 00:32:57 Now, the thing is, I do not know how to increase your attributes.
00:32:58 --> 00:33:04 I don't know if it is even possible to do so. I think there's mention of that in the...
00:33:04 --> 00:33:07 Is that not mentioned in the character advancement? It is not.
00:33:08 --> 00:33:13 Okay. All we saw there on character advancement was basically the things that
00:33:13 --> 00:33:15 I just read off. Yeah. Okay.
00:33:15 --> 00:33:19 I'm looking at this, the actual special attributes page, like the start of it
00:33:19 --> 00:33:20 to see if there's anything about that.
00:33:20 --> 00:33:23 I mean, this does a pretty good job of following the video games.
00:33:23 --> 00:33:26 And in those, you definitely can. Right? Yeah.
00:33:27 --> 00:33:30 Huh. So there may be something that we're just not seeing.
00:33:30 --> 00:33:34 Because i know in this game so they treat like the books and magazines that
00:33:34 --> 00:33:39 you can find in the game and as in the setting as a consumable and i think that raises your attitude.
00:33:40 --> 00:33:44 I don't know how you would raise it. It doesn't really say much on the,
00:33:44 --> 00:33:49 even in the attributes section of like how you can raise your attributes. It really does not.
00:33:50 --> 00:33:53 Might be something I have to look at online. Let's continue on.
00:33:53 --> 00:33:56 I'm a little bit ahead as I like to do.
00:33:56 --> 00:33:59 Let me look that up while we continue on with the rest of everything. That sounds good.
00:34:00 --> 00:34:04 Now, the next thing that we're at is those derived stats.
00:34:05 --> 00:34:10 So there are certain ones like carry weight and defense that we have to figure out.
00:34:11 --> 00:34:14 And for that, we're going to turn our hymnals to page 74.
00:34:14 --> 00:34:19 Yeah, so carry weight is calculated as, so you start with 150,
00:34:19 --> 00:34:25 and then you add that to a number that you get from strength times 10.
00:34:25 --> 00:34:30 So whatever your strength attribute is times 10, and then add that number to 150.
00:34:31 --> 00:34:33 I have the answer to our special question. Excellent.
00:34:34 --> 00:34:37 There is an intense training perk that you can take up to six times.
00:34:37 --> 00:34:41 Increased your stat by one there's also the ability
00:34:41 --> 00:34:43 for gm fiat to agree that you've
00:34:43 --> 00:34:47 done something to allow you to increase it and
00:34:47 --> 00:34:50 of course the books like what you said but i think that's mostly for skills
00:34:50 --> 00:34:56 not uh special yeah okay that makes sense which is why they didn't mention it
00:34:56 --> 00:35:03 in character advancement all right uh-huh thank you brownie and then yeah so
00:35:03 --> 00:35:05 carry weight calculation.
00:35:06 --> 00:35:10 Then you have to go into damage resistances which
00:35:10 --> 00:35:14 depending on your character or
00:35:14 --> 00:35:17 equipment or perks you sometimes get damage
00:35:17 --> 00:35:20 resistances the damage types in this game are physical damage
00:35:20 --> 00:35:24 like basically any regular mundane object like
00:35:24 --> 00:35:28 a bullet or or a super sledge or
00:35:28 --> 00:35:31 a piece of wood like hitting you that's
00:35:31 --> 00:35:34 usually like physical damage energy damage which is
00:35:34 --> 00:35:37 usually from like any of the energy weapons but also counts as
00:35:37 --> 00:35:39 for fire so like if you get hucked with a
00:35:39 --> 00:35:42 multiv cocktail that fire is actually energy
00:35:42 --> 00:35:46 damage radiation damage resistance pretty
00:35:46 --> 00:35:51 standard explanation the world the
00:35:51 --> 00:35:54 the fallout zones and radiation zones but also like
00:35:54 --> 00:35:57 various weapons like gamma gamma guns.
00:35:57 --> 00:36:01 That shoot just radiation at you and
00:36:01 --> 00:36:04 then poison damage from being poisoned by various
00:36:04 --> 00:36:07 venoms and stuff like that from creatures or or things
00:36:07 --> 00:36:11 out in the wasteland everybody starts with zero resistances
00:36:11 --> 00:36:14 except until you start like getting equipment or if you have your
00:36:14 --> 00:36:16 say if a ghoul or super mutant are immune
00:36:16 --> 00:36:19 to radiation and super mutants
00:36:19 --> 00:36:25 have radiation immunity and poison immunity well la dee da i guess that means
00:36:25 --> 00:36:30 that we have to worry about poison there where do those go on the chart there
00:36:30 --> 00:36:34 so on the chart it actually goes so poison has its own separate one and then
00:36:34 --> 00:36:39 all the other ones you just have to put in like your different hit locations so like head.
00:36:39 --> 00:36:43 Left arm, right arm torso, left arm, right arm because this game,
00:36:44 --> 00:36:45 yeah this game's armor.
00:36:47 --> 00:36:51 Is gear that like goes on different parts of your body yes,
00:36:53 --> 00:37:01 you yeah so it does solve the leg problem yes because you can get shin guards that is true,
00:37:02 --> 00:37:06 also with the hp that's on every hit location from
00:37:06 --> 00:37:09 what i've well from what we've been able to to figure
00:37:09 --> 00:37:12 out while we've been playing the game because we've played one
00:37:12 --> 00:37:16 less dice played like two games so far of this and like
00:37:16 --> 00:37:22 learning the rules we think it's for critical injuries because if you take five
00:37:22 --> 00:37:28 damage like up front from like a single attack it incurs a a critical injury
00:37:28 --> 00:37:35 to a to a to a limb so i think that's where that's from otherwise it seems like hp is mostly.
00:37:36 --> 00:37:39 Your it's just like a bulk like hp that
00:37:39 --> 00:37:42 you have that you accumulate but we are still trying to figure that
00:37:42 --> 00:37:45 out like the difference between your your
00:37:45 --> 00:37:49 character's full hp and then your hit
00:37:49 --> 00:37:52 locations hp but that's something entirely
00:37:52 --> 00:37:55 from away from these derive stats and actually
00:37:55 --> 00:37:59 speaking so yeah damage resistances and
00:37:59 --> 00:38:05 then defense so your defense stat is the basic difficulty that any attack has
00:38:05 --> 00:38:11 to make against you so like when somebody's attacking you that the defense number
00:38:11 --> 00:38:15 is how many how many successes they need to actually hit you so like an ace like
00:38:16 --> 00:38:19 armor checks in if your agility is
00:38:19 --> 00:38:22 eight or less your defense is going to be one and if
00:38:22 --> 00:38:26 your agility is nine or higher it's going to be two and then
00:38:26 --> 00:38:32 we have initiative uh let me know if i'm going too fast guys with like no explanations
00:38:32 --> 00:38:37 very good yeah your initiative determines how quickly you act in combat it is
00:38:37 --> 00:38:43 a static number that is derived from your perception plus your agility attributes.
00:38:43 --> 00:38:47 So it is kind of nice because you'll always know what well, for the most part,
00:38:47 --> 00:38:51 you'll always know where you stand in combat because it's a static number that
00:38:51 --> 00:38:52 you don't have to roll to find out.
00:38:53 --> 00:38:58 So you basically know exactly where your order is every single round. Yeah.
00:38:58 --> 00:39:03 Speaking from experience, it does help with when you just fought off a couple
00:39:03 --> 00:39:07 of raiders but you alerted their friends. We're entering another combat.
00:39:08 --> 00:39:11 Don't worry, I don't have to get initiatives from you guys again.
00:39:12 --> 00:39:15 And then we have health points so the
00:39:15 --> 00:39:18 like your your actual like your full health
00:39:18 --> 00:39:22 points again just how much damage you can withstand your
00:39:22 --> 00:39:25 max health is determined by at
00:39:25 --> 00:39:29 first level anyway is equal to
00:39:29 --> 00:39:31 your endurance plus your luck and then it is
00:39:31 --> 00:39:34 keep in mind you gain one additional health point
00:39:34 --> 00:39:38 every single time we level up yes and then
00:39:38 --> 00:39:41 the last i think derived stat
00:39:41 --> 00:39:45 is melee damage so your melee
00:39:45 --> 00:39:48 damage statistic lists any bonus damages you
00:39:48 --> 00:39:51 do with melee weapons or unarmed attacks due
00:39:51 --> 00:39:55 to having a high strength attribute if you have a
00:39:55 --> 00:39:58 strength of six or less you gain no bonuses so
00:39:58 --> 00:40:01 for here it's on a strength of seven or
00:40:01 --> 00:40:05 eight or seven to eight you get a plus one extra
00:40:05 --> 00:40:08 die or extra damage dice nine to ten
00:40:08 --> 00:40:11 you get plus two and on 11 plus
00:40:11 --> 00:40:16 you get plus three and then that is uh the derived stats everybody good so far
00:40:16 --> 00:40:24 yep yes sir awesome awesome now after calculating your derived stats we get
00:40:24 --> 00:40:28 to choose starting equipment based on your origin from step one.
00:40:28 --> 00:40:36 So we've got three different sections to look at. The first one is the Mr. Handy.
00:40:36 --> 00:40:41 Characters who select the Mr. Handy origin may select one of the following equipment
00:40:41 --> 00:40:43 packs, programming, or individuality.
00:40:43 --> 00:40:49 As a manufactured and programmed machine, your origin was determined as much
00:40:49 --> 00:40:53 by others as yourself, and you were initially built for a specific purpose.
00:40:53 --> 00:40:59 And so So we're going to find out which handy Brownie decided to be when he
00:40:59 --> 00:41:01 reveals which equipment package he goes with.
00:41:02 --> 00:41:05 Just getting me out of the way real quick. I based on the arms that I chose,
00:41:05 --> 00:41:07 I'm just a standard Mr. Handy. All right.
00:41:08 --> 00:41:12 So that means that you're going to have the following equipment,
00:41:12 --> 00:41:15 a pincer arm, a flamer arm and a buzzsaw.
00:41:15 --> 00:41:19 After all, what is a buzzsaw but a very large spur to go jingle, jangle, jingle?
00:41:21 --> 00:41:27 I feel like we need to get you a cowboy hat, too. of course we can all have hats. Yeah.
00:41:28 --> 00:41:32 Well, I do get to start with a fancy one because I did take speech as a tag skill.
00:41:34 --> 00:41:38 So, Super Mutant, you've got your choice of Brute or Skirmisher.
00:41:38 --> 00:41:44 Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to go with the Skirmisher because it's the bigger
00:41:44 --> 00:41:47 and tougher than your average mutant.
00:41:47 --> 00:41:54 And so, again, I'm the dad of the group of Super Mutants that I was from.
00:41:55 --> 00:41:58 All righty. so i get the
00:41:58 --> 00:42:05 following equipment raider armor torso plus raider armor for my head or one
00:42:05 --> 00:42:10 leg or one arm raider armor now i'm probably going to go with the one leg or
00:42:10 --> 00:42:17 one arm because i want to keep my head open for the fancy hat i get as since i have bags for speech.
00:42:19 --> 00:42:24 So we also there's two of us that get to start with fancy hats i love it,
00:42:25 --> 00:42:28 heavy bolt i also get a heavy bolter heavy bolt
00:42:28 --> 00:42:32 action pipe rifle and like
00:42:32 --> 00:42:35 eight rounds of of 308 ammunition
00:42:35 --> 00:42:44 a board and a personal trinket and five caps i wonder what that board is like
00:42:44 --> 00:42:49 a plank like a section of wood yeah it's basically like walk the law or it's
00:42:49 --> 00:42:52 like uh like what was it walk the line or that that dwayne the rock johnson
00:42:52 --> 00:42:54 movie where you just had a two by four in hand you,
00:42:55 --> 00:43:02 fair enough yeah or it could be a pat like an or like a like a heavy like or or it could also be a.
00:43:03 --> 00:43:06 What are they called a lacrosse paddle or
00:43:06 --> 00:43:09 i guess a uh or that paddle from cricket bat yeah
00:43:09 --> 00:43:12 cricket bat that's what i was thinking yeah this actually brings me
00:43:12 --> 00:43:15 to one of my complaints about the book i had to search around and figure out what this is anything
00:43:15 --> 00:43:18 time you see plus vault boy head yeah
00:43:18 --> 00:43:21 that's supposed to be 1d6 yes yeah the bulb yeah
00:43:21 --> 00:43:24 yeah so the reason they do that is because
00:43:24 --> 00:43:27 it's a combat die yeah d6s are combat
00:43:27 --> 00:43:30 dice and they work they work a little different than
00:43:30 --> 00:43:33 just rolling a d6 and adding getting the number
00:43:33 --> 00:43:36 so when you roll a combat die any
00:43:36 --> 00:43:39 of them one equals one
00:43:39 --> 00:43:42 damage two equals two damage three
00:43:42 --> 00:43:45 and four are nothing five and six are
00:43:45 --> 00:43:48 one damage from either of them plus five
00:43:48 --> 00:43:51 and six also has the chance will also trigger a damage
00:43:51 --> 00:43:55 effect that if your if your weapon has a a
00:43:55 --> 00:43:59 special effect on it like vicious or decapitating
00:43:59 --> 00:44:02 yeah like yeah there's different types like
00:44:02 --> 00:44:05 electrocution if it's a gun that has like the electrocution mod
00:44:05 --> 00:44:08 on it or like what or for flamer it would be persistent flame
00:44:08 --> 00:44:11 so like that's that's when a six
00:44:11 --> 00:44:14 or a five is is good because it'll actually activate a an.
00:44:14 --> 00:44:18 Effect that your gun has or your weapon has but
00:44:18 --> 00:44:21 yeah it's a little bit different than than other rpgs for
00:44:21 --> 00:44:24 the the way damage is laid is is laid out
00:44:24 --> 00:44:27 in the game and they tell they tell you they recommend you buy
00:44:27 --> 00:44:30 their special dice yeah they they recommend that
00:44:30 --> 00:44:33 you don't need to you really don't
00:44:33 --> 00:44:36 you can make do with standard d6s and
00:44:36 --> 00:44:39 just convert it or what i've seen done
00:44:39 --> 00:44:43 a lot is where people will just use fate dice and
00:44:43 --> 00:44:45 if it's the plus treat it as two damage if it's the
00:44:45 --> 00:44:48 blank it's nothing and if it's the minus it's damage
00:44:48 --> 00:44:54 plus an effect yeah or flip that around it's like a minus well you just got
00:44:54 --> 00:45:01 extra damage so if it says like on minus this pipe gun with eight plus vault
00:45:01 --> 00:45:08 boy had four rounds how do you do that i counted that as plus one d plus 46.
00:45:09 --> 00:45:10 At least for this stage.
00:45:11 --> 00:45:16 Got it. So knowing that, are you going for traitor or wanderer?
00:45:16 --> 00:45:20 I'm going for wanderer. I figure you're the talker, I'm the wanderer.
00:45:20 --> 00:45:22 So it made a lot more sense to me.
00:45:23 --> 00:45:27 That fits. I'm leaning towards mercenary to start. Okay.
00:45:28 --> 00:45:34 And I'm going to start with the 44 pistol, which gives me 10 plus 5 dice worth
00:45:34 --> 00:45:37 of ammo for the chosen ranged weapon.
00:45:38 --> 00:45:43 And because I picked small arms, I'm going to start with extra ammo for it as well.
00:45:44 --> 00:45:48 Picking small arms as my tag skill. Yep.
00:45:48 --> 00:45:52 And I went with the Wanderer. What I started out with is a Drifter Outfit,
00:45:52 --> 00:45:55 one melee weapon, which I chose
00:45:55 --> 00:45:59 Switchblade because I feel like I can do melee and throwing with that.
00:45:59 --> 00:46:05 And I start with a pipe gun with 38-calorie ammunition. I ended up getting 22 because it was 8 plus 4.
00:46:06 --> 00:46:10 One dose of Jet or Radaway. I picked Jet, one personal trinket,
00:46:11 --> 00:46:15 which I rolled randomly, and it ended up being the pages of An Unfinished Story
00:46:15 --> 00:46:17 and then I started with 30 caps.
00:46:17 --> 00:46:21 Alrighty. Now mine is tough clothing.
00:46:21 --> 00:46:26 To go with my fancy clothing, I've got a leather armor chest piece or a leather
00:46:26 --> 00:46:30 armor arm and a leather armor leg. So my choice is to which.
00:46:31 --> 00:46:34 Arm and leg. So I'm going to go with the chest.
00:46:35 --> 00:46:40 I get my choice from the following melee weapons. Machete, baseball bat, or tire iron.
00:46:40 --> 00:46:43 I'm going to go with the machete. one ranged weapon
00:46:43 --> 00:46:46 of the following 10 millimeter automatic 44
00:46:46 --> 00:46:49 pistol hunting rifle or bolt action pipe
00:46:49 --> 00:46:52 gun uh 10 plus five dice worth
00:46:52 --> 00:46:55 of ammo and a note advertising a
00:46:55 --> 00:46:58 job in a nearby settlement that offers to pay 50 caps
00:46:58 --> 00:47:01 and then 15 caps to start all right
00:47:01 --> 00:47:05 is that the end of the uh generation process we
00:47:05 --> 00:47:09 got tag skill items now oh yeah yes so
00:47:09 --> 00:47:13 everybody knows what your tag skills are we've got different
00:47:13 --> 00:47:15 items that you get for them so why don't we start with you craze
00:47:15 --> 00:47:18 on okay well yeah i've got speech
00:47:18 --> 00:47:23 so formal hat and formal clothing i like
00:47:23 --> 00:47:26 to think that just like white white sleeveless shirt and
00:47:26 --> 00:47:34 like like stretched out suspenders and then like some kind of like fedora or
00:47:34 --> 00:47:40 like maybe a scottish cap since i love scottish caps that works for me kind
00:47:40 --> 00:47:43 of give myself the goon look from the comic book, the goon.
00:47:45 --> 00:47:51 And then i have pilot so oh this is perfect i think my was pilot right yeah
00:47:51 --> 00:48:00 so for pilot my i have a broken car part equivalent of five common scrap was the last car,
00:48:01 --> 00:48:08 was last mower for some reason i see you taking around either a car door or
00:48:08 --> 00:48:15 just a giant hunk of fender yeah and it's it's perfect and then i have a big gun so i have four,
00:48:16 --> 00:48:19 four shots of flamer fuel i would
00:48:19 --> 00:48:22 like to point out my character does not start with it with a heavy weapon
00:48:22 --> 00:48:25 of or like a big gun at all i start with a small of
00:48:25 --> 00:48:28 what equates as a small gun with the the heavy
00:48:28 --> 00:48:32 bolt action rifle here here just pour that flamer fuel in the tank i'll take
00:48:32 --> 00:48:42 it yeah it still works family brownie what you got extra flamer fuel similar
00:48:42 --> 00:48:46 to crazon knuckles which how do i use those i don't have hands and a multi-tool.
00:48:52 --> 00:48:59 Why it's just like oh that that's that's that's good i have no knocks yet i must punch,
00:49:00 --> 00:49:08 who's next and then i started out with my tags so one was explosive so i had the option of two,
00:49:09 --> 00:49:12 multivococktails or two baseball grenades i don't know
00:49:12 --> 00:49:14 the difference between the two so i just picked baseball grenades
00:49:14 --> 00:49:18 because that sounded like fun yep for sneak
00:49:18 --> 00:49:21 i had one dose of calmex i
00:49:21 --> 00:49:25 got my free tag for survival which is two purified purified
00:49:25 --> 00:49:28 water and one iguana on a and then my last
00:49:28 --> 00:49:34 tag was for throwing i got the chance to get four plus two d6 throwing knives
00:49:34 --> 00:49:40 or two plus one d6 tomahawks i ended up going with the throwing knives and i
00:49:40 --> 00:49:45 got eight of them baseball grenades are just round grenades molotov cocktails are malort with a fuse.
00:49:47 --> 00:49:55 I don't think we can inflict that on anybody it make good dad juice why it hurts so bad,
00:49:57 --> 00:50:00 mine are small guns speech survival,
00:50:01 --> 00:50:06 and medicine so I get to start with a first aid kit and a stem pack,
00:50:07 --> 00:50:12 Because of speech, a formal hat and formal clothing. I'm going to go kind of
00:50:12 --> 00:50:18 wasteland preacher here and just kind of go with an old-school Puritan hat and a long coat.
00:50:18 --> 00:50:24 For small guns, six plus three dice, additional shots of ammunition of a type
00:50:24 --> 00:50:26 you already possess, so that's going to be 44.
00:50:26 --> 00:50:30 For man survival, I've got two purified water and one iguana on a stick.
00:50:31 --> 00:50:35 And just because I like to be contrary, I kind of want it to be a live iguana
00:50:35 --> 00:50:38 on the stick, and he has no idea how he got here.
00:50:40 --> 00:50:45 He's just happy to be along for the ride. Just has that crazed look of what is happening.
00:50:46 --> 00:50:52 Because one of the things that has been discussed within different game sessions
00:50:52 --> 00:50:54 is nobody knows where the iguana comes from.
00:50:55 --> 00:50:59 Nobody has actually seen a live iguana, to be honest, in a very long time,
00:50:59 --> 00:51:02 but people are absolutely certain they know what it tastes like.
00:51:03 --> 00:51:06 So I like the idea of being the one person with a live iguana And people going,
00:51:06 --> 00:51:10 what the hell is that thing? You know that meat on a stick you've been eating?
00:51:11 --> 00:51:14 That. And so that is.
00:51:15 --> 00:51:22 And that was Fallout Perica creation, yeah. We have a pretty interesting crew of Fallout Wanderers.
00:51:23 --> 00:51:27 And I kind of feel like we're going to be the ones that are outside in the Radstorms.
00:51:27 --> 00:51:31 Just dancing around and collecting all of the glowy water. Yep.
00:51:32 --> 00:51:35 It feels so good on my skin. somehow i
00:51:35 --> 00:51:38 ended up with a large pair of spurs that jingle jingle jingle and
00:51:38 --> 00:51:41 apparently i do want to set the world on fire because all this flame refuel yeah
00:51:41 --> 00:51:44 also quick thing that i think we missed out so i
00:51:44 --> 00:51:47 said i mentioned something about luck points uh when we were talking about the mystery stranger
00:51:47 --> 00:51:51 luck points are derived from your uh your luck attribute it's basically you
00:51:51 --> 00:51:54 have the the number of luck you you have in your attributes is the number of
00:51:54 --> 00:52:01 luck points you have and you can regain luck points once per adventure i i believe
00:52:01 --> 00:52:06 it's once per adventure by reflecting with your personal trinket.
00:52:06 --> 00:52:10 That's what that's the what the purpose of the personal personal trinket is
00:52:10 --> 00:52:15 that you can that's how you regain your luck points, which actually I think
00:52:15 --> 00:52:17 we do we do the personal trinkets?
00:52:17 --> 00:52:22 I did mine. I don't think you guys did yours. I did make a roll for mine.
00:52:22 --> 00:52:27 I got a silver locket, which I'm going to say has somebody that reminds him
00:52:27 --> 00:52:29 of his old life before he was a super mutant.
00:52:29 --> 00:52:34 So like maybe his wife or like child and like reminds him of his dadness.
00:52:35 --> 00:52:38 I rolled i rolled metal which i'm going to say is a
00:52:38 --> 00:52:41 2077 robot domestic or domestic robot of
00:52:41 --> 00:52:45 the year award nice i do
00:52:45 --> 00:52:48 love that now i i don't actually
00:52:48 --> 00:52:51 start with a personal trinket but it says here
00:52:51 --> 00:52:53 the game at game master's discretion all characters may gain a
00:52:53 --> 00:52:56 personal trinket item if they wish i am may
00:52:56 --> 00:53:00 as well yeah you might as well go for it oh this
00:53:00 --> 00:53:03 one is i get to start with a wedding ring oh
00:53:03 --> 00:53:06 no i thought i thought the silver locket
00:53:06 --> 00:53:09 was going to be the sad one that's that's
00:53:09 --> 00:53:15 just as bad because like i i barely remember my uh like my loved one or whatever
00:53:15 --> 00:53:20 through the through the silver locket you retained your your cognition throughout
00:53:20 --> 00:53:27 uh through the years so i'm either thinking that it is a wedding ring on a severed finger.
00:53:30 --> 00:53:37 I like that i found one you're going around the waistline looking for ghouls and playing cinderella,
00:53:39 --> 00:53:42 because you you remember that you love this person you don't remember who
00:53:42 --> 00:53:45 they are you're looking for that ghoul with the missing finger where the finger fits oh
00:53:45 --> 00:53:48 my god i can't accept
00:53:48 --> 00:53:51 it so hard that yeah i love that so
00:53:51 --> 00:53:54 much if this is really you you could
00:53:54 --> 00:53:58 tell me what the engraving on the inside of this ring actually says oh that's
00:53:58 --> 00:54:04 good all right well i think with that then with that heart string pulled i think
00:54:04 --> 00:54:09 i think we've we've done character creation for fallout 2d 20 awesome this could
00:54:09 --> 00:54:12 be a lot of fun yeah i'm looking forward to playing this eventually,
00:54:13 --> 00:54:19 Maybe we will meet again. We just need to, you know, draft Adam in. Yeah.
00:54:20 --> 00:54:26 But otherwise questions, comments, suggestions. Does anybody have anything that
00:54:26 --> 00:54:28 they wish to plug craze on?
00:54:28 --> 00:54:31 I understand that you have a podcast or three.
00:54:32 --> 00:54:38 It's two still. Yeah. I'm, I've got my own actual play podcast called one less die.
00:54:38 --> 00:54:43 We play an array of different games that I've been recording for years and I've
00:54:43 --> 00:54:47 finally started to edit them and post them online ranging from Shatterrun to
00:54:47 --> 00:54:52 Monsters of the Week, D20 lots of D20 sorry Brownie, not sorry.
00:54:53 --> 00:54:58 I braved two of those D20 for you for this game some red markets,
00:54:59 --> 00:55:04 and a fair amount of Powered by the Apocalypse actually at some point in like
00:55:04 --> 00:55:09 a year or so we'll be having our own campaign of Fallout 2D20 getting posted,
00:55:10 --> 00:55:15 And when we're not running games and when I'm not bothering the RPX crew,
00:55:16 --> 00:55:21 I have another podcast called Al Dente Rigamortis, where I take on the persona of the review cultist.
00:55:22 --> 00:55:27 And I gather a couple of friends and we read creepypastas weekly and discuss
00:55:27 --> 00:55:32 them and see what we thought of them and if we'd recommend them or not. Nice. Yeah.
00:55:32 --> 00:55:36 As for me, I can mostly be found here occasionally on Technical Difficulties Gaming Podcast.
00:55:36 --> 00:55:40 And I'd also like to promote cats. They're pretty nice. I like cats.
00:55:41 --> 00:55:46 I thought I heard hats at a moment. I was about to say, do you have a lid website
00:55:46 --> 00:55:47 that we should be aware of, Brady?
00:55:49 --> 00:55:53 No, felines. Felines, yes. Jeremy, where can we find you?
00:55:53 --> 00:55:57 You can find me here on the Roleplaying Exchange, occasionally on One Less Die.
00:55:57 --> 00:56:01 I tend to be the podcast vagabond or the professional hanger-on,
00:56:01 --> 00:56:02 whichever one you want to call me.
00:56:02 --> 00:56:06 So you'll catch me around in different places at various times.
00:56:07 --> 00:56:13 And I guess that wraps it up with me. I am a perennial guest on so many different
00:56:13 --> 00:56:20 casts at so many different times. You can find me on RPPR, TechDiff on occasion, here on RPX.
00:56:21 --> 00:56:25 And I would also like to specifically plug an episode of One Less Die that is
00:56:25 --> 00:56:31 currently out of Chuck's Angels, which is when we did Night's Black Agents. For Twilight.
00:56:32 --> 00:56:35 For Twilight. a cathartic game of
00:56:35 --> 00:56:38 a bunch of old former special ops
00:56:38 --> 00:56:42 characters taken out the cullens or
00:56:42 --> 00:56:45 the collinses and i'd also
00:56:45 --> 00:56:48 like to promote for david if you play red markets he will just appear in your
00:56:48 --> 00:56:52 living room and you won't know how he got there yes if you record red markets
00:56:52 --> 00:56:57 at some point in time i will guest in your i will guest in your game oh yes
00:56:57 --> 00:57:02 i will guest in your game But otherwise, thank you for joining us for Fallout,
00:57:02 --> 00:57:05 and we'll meet again.
00:57:06 --> 00:57:16 Don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day. Cue the outro.
00:57:18 --> 00:57:21 Bye, y'all. Thanks, everybody. Sleep well.
00:57:23 --> 00:58:07 Music.
