[00:00:05] Welcome to Al Dente Rigamortis, I'm Review Cultist. I'm Mikey, the East Ends Reval. And I'm the Gamer in Yellow. And we're here to discuss those internet stories, most creepy and most pasta, and be critically silly doing it.
[00:00:33] And tonight we have Doorway to Darkness by MM Pratt99. So, last week we tackled one of the first stories that we've encountered in the MMPrat series of stories. Of the Lontakis, or the, sorry, Dark Lurkers. Yeah, there we go. Definitely the Dark Lurkers. Can't say that. Yeah, can't say the L word. No.
[00:00:58] And then I dove in and see if there were any other stories involving the L word, the Dark Lurkers, in her other stories. And we found another story called The Gorgon Smile. But there was a prequel to that story called Doorway to Darkness. So that's the one we're covering this week. And then next week, hopefully we'll cover the Gorgon Smile. Okay. Just Dark Helmet just staring at the camera. Everybody got that? Absolutely. Yeah.
[00:01:26] So yeah, you can check out these, you can check out Doorway to Darkness along with all the other MMPrat stories on creepposs.wiki. And I suppose we should give our initial recommendations before we go any further. I'm going to partially recommend this one. I am also going to partially recommend this one. I'll go with the group and also say partial. One of us. One of us.
[00:01:56] Yeah. Which is oddly thematic for the entity we're talking about in this story. Hmm. All right. So let's dive into this and find out why we gave it such kind of middling recommendation. To non-committal. Non-committal recommendations. Starting with the rundown. Kes is back. Back again. The Gurdine's back. Tell a friend. Kes is back. Kes is back.
[00:02:25] Kes is back. Chris is back. Yeah. So Kes the Gurdine lives alone with her cat, Miss Tabitha on Narok Island, away from people and specifically her meddlesome conservative family and relatives. Kes. Uh, one day while searching for kelp on the rocky beach for soup stock, she finds a house in the headlands that shouldn't be there. Curious.
[00:02:54] It was a hobby in the headlands, right? Yeah. Thankfully it wasn't a hobby in the headlands. It was a horse. It was a house in the headlands, not a horse in the headlands. Yes. Different. The hobby is a hobby horse. Yes. Um, God damn. I'm going to like remove two things from my natural thoughts now because I've added them into the. Oh yeah. In the rundown. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, anyway, uh, moving on.
[00:03:16] Um, curious, uh, Kes enters and eventually finds her way to the second floor of the house where a door leads to a dark forest. Uh, she ventures through and a storm suddenly kicks up. Uh, and as she flees trying to find the door back to the house in the headlands, uh, Kes and Miss Tabitha instead find shelter in a stucco cottage.
[00:03:43] Uh, she starts a fire to dry her clothes and keep her warm, eventually falling asleep amid the raging storm outside. Uh, she wakes up abruptly to the storm being, uh, uh, gone outside. Her cat on alert and dark figures surrounding her. Uh, they say that they are the Lontakis and invite Kes to a special party. Quotes included.
[00:04:12] Um, she decides to nope out of the situation, uh, sensing trouble and the Luntakis begin chase and clawing at her as darkness overtakes her. She then wakes up back at her home, but her cloak and hat are missing. And she was never seen again. Finn. So yeah, that was doorway to darkness.
[00:04:42] Um, Did it say she was never seen again or did I miss that? It literally ends up the story ends with, uh, that was the last time anyone saw her. Oh yeah, you're right. And I've got a bone to pick with that one, but I'll get to it. Maybe this is the last in the series. I I've got no, I've got a note on it. Okay. We're going to, we're going to talk about that ending. Um, but spoilers for my, my talk on this episode. Um, uh, before we get to that, let's do dive into.
[00:05:12] For one color. It's the ram inquisitions at this point. I've got one. Um, and actually it's, this is actually the last, it is the last sentence again. Great. I just realized this is the last time anyone saw her. Welcome to my tense talk. Yeah. I feel like it should that, that up until this point, I think it's been in like the past tense. And I feel like this present tense sentence should actually be past tense.
[00:05:40] So that it's, this was the last time anyone saw her. Probably. Yeah. Uh, that's it. That's all I got for grammar acquisition. So Mikey, these tense are evil. All right. All right. So. It was over his shoulder and indistinctly that he first a face. Are you just quickly going into your it story with no pomp and surface? No, I know there's, there's, there's an issue in the sentence. Oh, okay. Yeah. I know exactly what you're talking about. I know exactly what it is.
[00:06:10] Yeah. Okay. Sorry. Go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. Well, first a face doesn't really work. Uh, so I created it to first saw a face. Yeah. Actually, I'm going to double check this because is this a typo from M.M. Pratt or is this a typo from Kenneth Graham, the author of the like historically acclaimed wind in the willows novel? Huh?
[00:06:37] So this, this is the sentence that, uh, Mikey pulled is from the, the quote that is not actually by M.M. Pratt, but, uh, a quoted caption. Um, I'm just, I'm curious if it actually says that. Yeah, but that could be only in, is this. Oh no, it is. It is. So, uh, the, that fragment is a slightly misquoted line from the famous literary work.
[00:07:03] The correct line is it was over his shoulder and indistinctly that he saw a face or that he first saw a face. Okay. So yes. Uh, and unfortunately it is a misquoting, um, of the, uh, of the actual quote from the wind in the willows. But yeah. All right. So then I have a conjunction junction. All right.
[00:07:32] And next stop conjunction junction. It was over his shoulder and indistinctly that he first a face just going to get a little horse. A little evil wedge shaped face looking at him from a hole. It was all just stones, broken shells, and smelly dead crabs. It was unlocked.
[00:08:02] It opened with a slight creak. But we just met. But I can't stay. But why? Finn. But why? Wow. Yeah. Like, like, just like speed, like just a speed run through the game, through the story. Um, a little bit. Yeah.
[00:08:32] Yeah. Although with all the context removed, if Mikey just grabbing all the sentences throughout the story, the start of the words that they probably shouldn't like get sends or buts, uh, because there's always better words to use. Um, it doesn't really tell the story. It just, no, it doesn't. It's a collection of, of sentences. Although it could be said that like, maybe the, like, I mean, again, deriving from the fragmented sentences that Mikey just pulled, uh, that the house was made of, of just stone, broken shells and smelly dead crabs. Yes, that's true. Okay.
[00:09:04] Okay. And then, and that, and that Kes was actually talking. Oh, the, the narrator. Cause again, Kes isn't even mentioned in the, in the, the, the, the fragmented sentences that were pulled, um, uh, that she's actually just talking to either like the door or whatever's in the house, but like the unnamed thing in the house. So, but why? Yeah. Um, and I guess gamer, you already did the, and this is why he does this.
[00:09:35] Yeah. Yeah. All right. Um, but yeah, so I guess, uh, we'll move on to, uh, the grammar in yellow with the great, with the grammar in yellow. Wow. Wow. That's incredible. I've been on how many episodes? Don't know my name yet. Excuse my dyslexia or whatever that is. Um, yeah. Uh, gamer in yellow, uh, grammar in yellow. Uh, yeah, I got one left kind of, uh, it's basically just a format.
[00:10:04] Formatting issue. So, uh, beside, uh, the page 25 picture, uh, there's the, the quote, there's something fishy here. She thought, uh, why would they want to invite me to their party? Someone they just met, not unless they were going to, and then it jumps down a line, something really awful period. So like that. What? Yeah. Yeah. That, that sentence, it just kind of stops and then continues a line down.
[00:10:31] Also, I think it's missing something like not unless they were going to. Do something. Really? Nevermind. Yeah. Uh, but yeah, it's clicked down for some reason. Yeah, that is, that is kind of odd. Hmm. I'm assuming we just through the editing process, these things happen sometimes, you know? Yeah. When you're, when, again, when you're trying to like place the, the images with, with text next to it. So yeah, for sure. And doing it this amount of times too. So I get it.
[00:11:01] But yeah, that's all I had left for grammar. All right. Well then I suppose we'll move into actual thoughts and I'm going to start with the images. Mm hmm. As usual, I really like them. Um, they work to illustrate what is happening in the written aspect of the narrative. Uh, they kind of give off a, like a picture book storybook sort of vibe to the story. Um, just because the volume of the pictures. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:11:28] And like, it kind of feels like if this wasn't on like the wiki, uh, if this was actually like laid out and like, like going out to print, it would be like an, like, it would be like a 26 page, like storybook or like, or a 28 page storybook. Um, based on like, since all the images are, are named, um, like the page number that they'd be landing on. Um, so I could, I could definitely see that.
[00:11:57] Um, I will say my favorites of the images is probably the, uh, the storm or are the storm illustration that is, uh, where it has like the face in it, which is page 17. I just really like how, how kind of creepy that is and how like, just like, that's like probably the spookiest one of them. Oh yeah, for sure. Yeah. Like just let that face, uh, with the teeth just in the roiling storm cloud in the lightning.
[00:12:24] Um, I also really like the narrative sequence that's shown in pages 20 to page, uh, or page 20 to page 26. Cause it, if you were to like line those up and like put them together, like side by side, it would actually probably make a pretty, you could actually probably like get the gist of the story that's going on in that. Um, almost like a comic strip. Oh yeah, for sure. Like even 19 as well. Cause that shows the house in the background. True. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. Yeah.
[00:12:51] 19 on to like basically like 26, I think is like the best, like shows the most of what's going on, like, like straightforward. Mm. Um, and again, I get it just, yeah. So going back to like the page 19 or 17 one, the one with like the, the face in the clouds. Yeah. It is a cool image. However, like that doesn't happen in the story unless I misread something. Yeah. I think, I think the, the, well, in the illustration, I think it's like meant to be more metaphorical. Like, oh, like this, like this creature, whatever, whatever created the storm is obviously
[00:13:20] the Luntakis to like cause that. So like, that's kind of, it's being more like kind of, um, um, yeah. Yeah. In the image itself, it's being more like kind of metaphorical than, than literal. Yeah. Like, like, I don't think Kes, like cause cause it's how it's written. Like Cass actually isn't seeing that face, but like us as the reader is seeing the malicious intent of the storm or who's controlling the storm kind of thing. You're right. You're right. Um, and again, also it's just like a really cool, creepy image. I love it. Yeah.
[00:13:49] Cause the eyes and the beaky nose. Yeah, you're right. It is very like them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that's kind of a, I think I think I might've mentioned this before, but like the Gurdine as they're described and as like, they've been like portrayed in these
[00:14:18] illustrations really make remind me of the Katara Katarl from the Outlaw Star anime, which are like a rate, like a race of Imperial, like, uh, like anime cat girls with like kind of tan skin and like white blonde or like bleach blonde hair. And, um, like very cat, like Japanese cat themes. And they can also transform into tigers and other ant, like large cats. Of course they can. Yeah. But like most of the time there are just these like, again, brown, brown furred or like kind
[00:14:47] of like tense, like deep tan skinned and like platinum blonder or like, or just like white haired, um, cat girls or cat people. Cause there are, uh, there are not just cat girls, but, um, but yeah. So I just like, again, like, I like that we've gotten like this strong visual of what Cass and her, her people are like. Yeah. It's like, you don't even get an image of the character at all. Yeah, exactly. This one where we're getting multiple through multiple stories.
[00:15:17] Yeah. Especially when it's a race that is like unique. Yeah, exactly. It's like, it's a, it's an original character. It's an original fantastical race by, by Cass or by Cass, by, by M M Pratt, as far as I, as far as we know. So, um, but yeah. Um, yeah, aside from that, like, uh, the only other, the only issue I have, I think with the images is again, like, because the formatting of the wiki article, like sometimes come, it's
[00:15:45] caused a little bit of like conflict with the, the writing. But again, I feel like this is, this would be a lot stronger, like a much, like a really strong, like, um, case for like having this actually be laid out like a book or like a picture book or a story book. Uh, although I have issue with the last couple images. Yeah. I, I also do. Uh, what do you, what's your problem? So, uh, we get her in a blanket. Yeah.
[00:16:15] And the paragraph beside that picture has nothing to do with her being in bed until we get to the last image. And then beside that, it mentions that she wakes up in bed. Yeah. That is, that is definitely a case where like the formatting, I think screwed up maybe, or like it like that. Yeah. That sentence or that group of that, that two or three sentences should be on the, in like on page 26 rather than page 27's image. Hmm. Hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:16:47] Like, uh, like, uh, that one I think is just meant to be like, Oh, it's the end of the story. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's not meant to. It's quirky and like whimsical and like, it's got like a troll kid and like some, what is that? Like, I don't know what kind of animal that is like a porcupine or like a white, some of a white animals creature being it. It's to insinuate that the Lontakas wrote the story. Oh my God. You're right. Oh my God.
[00:17:16] Cause that definitely looks like a Lontak, like that kid looks like a Lontakas based on. Yeah. I, wow. How did I miss that? I mean, I missed it as well. So it's very missful. Yeah. But no, you're right. You're right. I think that's actually, that's actually really good. I like that. It's like, Oh no. Oh, that's the horror of it. It's like the story was actually written by the Lontakas. Haha. They, they got another one. Mm. Or did they? Cause it might just be like, not a real story.
[00:17:46] Yeah, exactly. Yeah. It's just probably. Well, remember the Lontakas, like they get, they, they get, uh, the more that people know about them, the more real or more, more of the, um, the closer they get to somebody. So it's like, Oh no, I've read this entire story. And it was all created. It was all fabrication by the Lontakas, uh, PR board to get, to, uh, to get more attention on themselves for sure.
[00:18:17] Uh, but is there anything else there, Mikey, for the images for you? Oh, they, no, but it's just that the, uh, my feelings on Lontakas is they don't want to be found out so that when they are found out, they'll get you. Yeah. So I think they do want to be found out because they want to know people that we know more about them so that they can like gather their numbers. Right. Yeah. They show up because people are talking about them. Yeah. That's the information we got from the previous story.
[00:18:44] Um, actually now that I'm remembering some stuff that's mentioned in the last story about the Lontakas, like they only, they, they do, they do that stuff because like people are getting into their territory. So either it is like a trap based, like, um, ecology, like where they're like, they, they try to trap people into, uh, to, uh, to, to become one of them or it's more of like a territorial thing. It's like, Oh, you're in our territory. Now you're one of us. Like, but they don't care about, about expanding. Hmm.
[00:19:15] Hmm. We've hit a conundrum. Hmm. Yeah. That's all I have for the images. Okay. Gamer, do you have anything more to say about the, uh, the images? I think that's a, would everything. Yeah. All right. Then I suppose we'll move on to the rest of the story. I'm going to start with, Oh, I have one more thing. Oh, okay.
[00:19:42] The first image, um, which is the same image. The image from the previous story actually works a lot better here than it does in the previous story. I feel because there are actually eyes in the darkness. Yeah, no, that's true. The other one. They're just in the bright daylight the whole time. Yeah. So I'd almost say that the, uh, the one where it shows all of them, like the dude in the hat and stuff that maybe would be a more fitting title card to the other one.
[00:20:11] You know, actually, I'm now curious, like if that story, I'm curious about how, when that story came out, cause this one came out in 2012. Did that other story come out around the same time or like a little bit later? Cause like, I feel like those images, like obviously both of the images from the previous story that we read are from, are in this story as well. So I wonder if they, if this, if that story borrowed these images from this one. Probably actually that would make a good amount of sense. Yeah. That was, uh, silent audience. The silence.
[00:20:41] Yes. Thank you. So that one came out March 12th or sorry, March, 2012. This story popped up November, 2012. So yeah, this story is, uh, came out before the silent audience. Hmm. Okay. So interesting. Uh, so it's likely that again, like that story borrowed these images for the, for its pieces. So yeah. Yeah.
[00:21:14] Um, all right. Yeah. Anything else or no? Okay. Then I suppose we'll move on to the rest of the, uh, written part of the story. Uh, I'm going to start with this quote here. Uh, they were everywhere, those creatures. And that's by, uh, that's a, the quote by August Dereleth, the house on Kerwin street.
[00:21:34] And so, you know, like I don't, again, immediately jumped into this and like, Evan Pratt stories do have a habit sometimes of having, um, quotes from previous, from, from other writers, like works are like classic pieces of literature in this, in these, in the horror genre or the pulp genre, um, to go along with their, their story. Um, and I've, I've heard of August Dereleth before he's, he was one of, uh, Lovecraft's contemporaries and actually wrote stories in the mythos as well.
[00:22:02] Though, albeit not in the same vein as Lovecraft and the other people that were writing in that mythos, it was more of like, he, he's actually kind of divisively known for adding a morality and even elemental theme to, to the gods of the Cthulhu mythos. Um, so like his writing is a little bit biasy, like it's not as like atheistic or like just like straight up cosmic horror, like where like nothing, like nothing we do matters. Or it's like, uh, the, the universe doesn't care about us.
[00:22:31] Like the, the universe doesn't have like, uh, it's not good or bad. It's just there and, and powerful. Um, but regardless, like, uh, I, I kind of like, even like with this like small quote that we get from this story that you wrote, uh, the house of Kerwin street and how it relates kind of like how it kind of relates to this story with like the, the creatures in the darkness and such. Um, it kind of makes me want to check out this story at least. So if nothing else, this, this, uh, this story has made me want to check out yet another story afterward.
[00:23:02] So that was a nice, uh, thing that sometimes quoting other stuff can lead to. Yeah. Um, then the next one I have is, uh, so this is when Kes is like going around the, um, the shoreline trying to find kelp and then skirting a rock cliff. She saw a head for, she saw ahead of her, a grassy headland on which stood a small wooden house. Kes stared in astonishment. That's odd.
[00:23:31] She thought the, this Island's supposed to be uninhabited. There shouldn't be any people here. Careful, Kes. Headlands have a bad rap in these stories. Especially if you see like a house is one thing, but if you see a hobby horse just sticking out of the ground, run. Yeah. Damn right.
[00:23:50] Um, also either this is something like really bad, wrong and supernatural like this house or, or Kes is just really very bad at like thoroughly checking out the place she lives that like wants to live in isolation in. It's like, Oh no. It's like a neighbor a mile down. Yeah, exactly. Like this house shouldn't be here. It's like, Kes, like you saw the pamphlets. Like it's like showed like there were other properties on the, on the Island.
[00:24:16] But yeah, I do like the idea of like you, you, you go somewhere to vacation or like to live, um, where you're like, you've been told like there's nobody else around like this house, like this area, this Island, this land is like completely isolated. And then you're just like taking a trip. Like you're just taking like a hike or walking around your, your supposedly like nice isolated property or like, or a place. And then you just find it, a random house. Papa. It's like the equivalent of finding stairs in the woods. It's like, why the fuck is this house here? Why does it look so worn and weathered?
[00:24:46] Like it's always been here. Like this wasn't here. I like, uh, like last time I was here. Yeah. It's worse if you know the area specifically too. And then all of a sudden there's shit there that looks like it's been there forever. Yeah. Yeah. And actually I kind of think that would be even cooler and creepier for the story. If it is established that Kes like knows for certain that this shouldn't be in this headland. Like she's walked these headlands before and this house wasn't there before.
[00:25:13] So it's like even more like a, like, oh, that thing's a mimic for sure. Or like some kind of like, some kind of like weird liminal things going on here. Um, then the next one I have, uh, a house standing alone in eerie desolation was puzzling. Some people might have turned back at this point, but mysterious things fascinated Kes. Well, I mean, she is a Gurdin, uh, which who, who do possess cat-like qualities.
[00:25:43] So like, you know, curiosity killed the cat or curiosity, I guess killed the Gurdin. In this case, she's also pro tag. So pro tags always want to, uh, yeah, exactly. There's no, why is there no story red flag? You say let's investigate gang. She says to miss Tabitha, her cat. Um, the next thing we have here is when she goes through the, um, uh, through the forest and inside the house, like on the second level and stuff.
[00:26:13] And then that storm kind of kicks up. Um, in a brilliant flash of lightning, Kes glimpsed windows and part of a tiled roof. Running closer, she saw it was a small stucco cottage. Cottage. So you're, what you're saying is a cottage in a forest, in a house, building-ception? A little bit. A little liminal, like a little like weird and like liminal with like, she goes into this house that should not be there.
[00:26:41] Goes up to the second floor, finds a, finds a, uh, a doorway to an, to a forest that is impossibly there. Yeah, on the second floor of all places. Yeah, exactly. Goes in there again, ends up finding another cottage and goes in there. What are you going to find? Open up like another door in that one and find like, um, like some other like location. Yeah, exactly. Um, but that's possible. Yeah. It's very possible.
[00:27:09] It's very, again, very liminal, like ahead of its time because liminality, like the whole idea of like liminal places, they did exist back then, like back in 2012. And stuff like that, but like that, we didn't have as quite a name for them because of the, in the advent of the back rooms and such. Or they weren't as prominent with that name in terminology. So. Yeah. But, um, uh, I'll move on to the next thing I have. After a thorough search, she finally found what she was looking for. A gloomy cellar filled with old moldering furniture.
[00:27:39] Kes splintered some decrepit chairs and then carried the kindling upstairs. Soon she got a fire going. And you know, I do have to commend the story a little bit for having a creepy old basement or cellar and not focusing on that for creeps. Like. Yeah. Not even an eerie atmosphere description outside of like the old moldy furniture.
[00:28:03] It's just Kes goes down there, find some suitable, something suitable for kindling and then comes back up. No problem. Yeah. Um, just like if this was like portrayed in like an animation or a film, it'd be like, you'd see like the, the opening to like the cellar door. And then Kes would just like walked out, like, like perfectly pleasantly, like walk down into the darkness, find something she's looking for and come right back up. No problem whatsoever. It's like, wait, what? Like that's not where the spooky shit is.
[00:28:32] Um, now that said, I do kind of feel that the story could have had some more atmosphere and build up to the Lentakis. Um, even if it was going for a more like visual, like storybook style narrative. Like, I, I kind of just feel like there, like, I don't know, we could have gotten like an image of like, or like a, a, a, a, an illustration, perhaps if we're going down into the basement or into the cellar.
[00:28:56] Um, and in the, as she's like picking up firewood and coming or like kindling and bringing it back up, like maybe in the shadows, you, we see some of those eyes from, uh, uh, from, from that first image, the, that front piece, uh, one. Um, but, uh, I'll move on to the next thing I have. And actually this is getting close to the last thing I have. As she twisted free. So this is, so this is after she's encountered the Lentakis.
[00:29:23] And then she's like, nope, it goes, tries to run and then gets grabbed or is getting grabbed at. Um, as she twisted free darkness, descended on everything. And she found herself to her astonishment in her own bed. Yet another surprise greeted her when she finally got up her hat and cloak were missing. This is the last time anyone saw her. Okay. I got, so yeah, this part, I, this ending here, I do have a little bit of a bone to pick.
[00:29:51] Um, you almost lost me story with, it was all a dream. Cause I was like, really? I mean, that's exactly what it is. It is, but it kind of won me back with the, the missing cloak and has like, oh, it wasn't just a dream. Like something weird happened that she's like lost time. Oh my gosh. She really, she really checked the stove and make sure that, that soup's, uh, not been left out all the whole time. Well, no, she didn't have her hat and coat because she's sleeping.
[00:30:20] Do you go to bed in a hat and coat often? No. Like she woke up when she got up, she found that she was missing her, her hat and cloak. Like it wasn't, it wasn't in the house is what it's insinuating. Hmm. Hmm. That's the, so like, that's like the evidence is the same thing as like, oh, like the horrible, like eldritch thing that I, uh, the thing I encountered, oh, that was all just a dream. But then like, you hope you like go check your, you're, you're like getting up from a, it's like, oh, thank God that was all just a dream. But then you check and look at your bedside table and there's like an artifact that was in your dream. It was like, wait, what was that? That wasn't there before.
[00:30:50] What? Yeah. But this one doesn't do that. Like, okay. Her hat and coat are missing, but like it was a dream. She could have imagined that she had a hat and coat that she didn't actually have. I suppose. But I think the story is insinuating that she did have those beforehand. And that's why it's bringing it up that like they're missing is because they went missing in the story. Cause she left them in where she ran from in the story. In the supposed dream. So therefore it wasn't necessarily a dream. It's throwing. It's.
[00:31:20] And then, yeah. Like it's. Outwardly says that. Yeah. It's throwing doubt at like the fact that it, that it wasn't just a dream sequence. Like it wasn't, we're not like it faked. We got a fake out dream sequence basically, or like a fake out. It was just a dream ending. Um. I caught that at the time. Cause I just saw it as a dream sequence. Uh, yeah, I know. Again, like I was, I was like getting ready to like, oh no story. You fucked up. Like you made it a dream sequence.
[00:32:14] Um. All right. Given these stories, Miss Tabitha could be a viable answer as a witness to like last time she was seen. This is a dreamland's cat or something. Exactly. Yeah. It could be a dreamland's cat or a cat from another dimension that can talk and is hyper intelligent. Um. Uh, yeah. Just like, uh, maybe correctly silly. Just like, how, how do you know this is the last time anyway? So are like, who, who else, who witnessed her like this last time she, she was seen.
[00:32:43] But, um, the other thing I have is, um. A lot of techies. Yeah. Oh yeah. Well, you know what? Now that you brought, yeah, you, right. You brought up that this like story, like kind of insinuous that it might've been written by the Lantakis. So I kind of, okay. I could kind of maybe see that. Um. It didn't show them showing up at the end to show like who the last person is. No, just at the end, the last page of this, of the storybook.
[00:33:10] If, if it ever were to be published as a storybook would be that the end picture with the Lantakis, like putting up there the end on the wall, uh, which is the last image for people who are listening to us and not following along, which you should at least follow along for the images of this one. Hmm. Um, now that I've said that like halfway through our recording. Yeah, of course. Also.
[00:33:38] So regarding this being like, apparently the demise of, of, of, of Kes, not Ms. Tabitha, uh, but of Kes, um, uh, I guess she, she burned one of her nine lives as a Gurdine, like maybe if they are cat people or like, I assume they might have some extra lives. Um, also as a recurring character in other MMPrat stories, uh, I'd really like a timeline of stories for Kes, like, cause it seems like we just found the end of her story. Unless of course. If this story is real. Yeah.
[00:34:07] Because this might be like a children's bedtime story for them. Yeah, exactly. Like, cause like maybe she's gotten away a bunch of times. So like they wrote a story about killing her. Exactly. Yeah. Don't worry. The, the, the, uh, the Gurdine Kes will get caught by us one day. She has mortal enemies or it could be revealed. This could be revealed that like Kes has been on Lontakis, Gurdine the entire time. Like she's been, she's basically been like a vampire this entire time.
[00:34:38] No, I don't know. Like I, I also, this is like, this is ones from 2012. Um, some of the other stories that Kes has been in, uh, been like in stories previous, like from like beyond this, this timeline. So like, this could just be like, this doesn't necessarily have to have like a, like a concrete, like connective timeline for other, to the entire like set of stories of, of the, of MMPrat's. So like, this could just be like a one-off that like ends up killing this character because
[00:35:05] it was early on in, in this character's like conceptual life. So yeah. Uh, and then MMPrat liked the character enough to keep bringing them back. So yeah, it's like the Joker and Batman. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. It's exactly like Marvel or DC. Like the first comic that the Joker shows up in, like Batman fucking shoots him or something. That's in one, that's like a one-off comic. Like, yeah, like the killing joke or something like that, or no, like way, way, way back
[00:35:33] in the day when Batman was a vigilante that had a gun and went around like fighting and shooting criminals. He, in the Joker one, he just killed the Joker. Really? Yes. But then the fans loved the Joker so much that they just kind of brought him back. Yeah. And actually I kind of liked the idea, even if this is like, just like another, like another stone in, in Kes's life. And the fact that like, as a Gurdin, they have extra lives.
[00:36:00] That's actually a really good, like character thing to have in a, uh, for a character in a horror story that like, oh yeah, this character can die. Um, and, and then like just show up again later on because of like the, of her, like that trait that her species has. Yes. Like coming back. I don't even need to like necessarily address it. Just like, again, like she dies in one story, comes back later, like in another like story in down the timeline and P and don't address it.
[00:36:29] Just people are like, what, what the fuck? What, why, like, is this Kes? Like, oh no, who knows? Like, and then when you've witnessed nine deaths, she stopped showing off. Yeah, exactly. Oh my God. Kes only has nine lives. She only has nine lives to, to spend across all these different stories. That would be such a good, interesting thing. Like, yeah. There's no one ups. Yeah. But yeah.
[00:36:55] Um, yeah, I guess that's the end of my notes for this one is just, uh, yeah, it ends in a, in a way it's just like kind of a, oh, it seemed seemingly finality for, uh, for, for Kes, but like, is it because like, again, the story was written, possibly written by the Lontakis themselves or, um, uh, or the, or the story was told by the Lontakis themselves and, or, or the, again, Kes might have like, this might just be like an earlier version of the story of these characters. So who knows?
[00:37:24] Um, yeah. If you, if you ignore the whole, like the, the, the extended stories of M and Pratt's work, like this could be like, oh shoot, this character just dies. Like, like they're, they're never seen again. Yeah. So. Also to confirm, does she have the same last name as the previous Kess's or is this just another Gurdie named Kes? Nope. This is the, yeah, it's the same name. Okay. Yeah. I'd recognize that, that unpronounceable last name anywhere.
[00:37:53] Kes Alintal. Sure. Alintal. Uh, I'm sorry. I, I'm. I mean, knowing us, we're saying everything wrong. Her name's probably pronounced differently. The race is probably pronounced differently. Exactly. I, I, I, I'm don't even know if Gurdin is the way you'd, you'd, you'd pronounce G E R D I N. So. Gurdin. Yep. It might even be Tabitha. Miss Tabitha. Okay. Now.
[00:38:23] You're a rock star. Uh, yeah. So. Uh, but yeah. Um, that's all I've got for, uh, for the doorway to darkness. So, uh, Mikey. All right. Uh, let's see here. Kes splintered some decrepit chairs and then carried the kindling upstairs. Soon she got a fire going.
[00:38:52] After she built up the fire enough, she pushed a chair before the hearth and sat down. Miss Tabitha leapt into her lap and curled herself into a warm ball. I'll stay here for now, thought Kes. Then as soon as the storm blows over, I'll go back home.
[00:39:15] She then closed her eyes, lulled by the fire's warmth and Miss Tabitha's soothing purr. Kes drifted off into sleep. She then died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Wow. Okay. Look, look. There's a fireplace. There's ventilation, probably. This is all just a trap.
[00:39:45] Set up a nice fireplace. It's all comfy and everything. And they just block. Yeah. They just block that. Close it. Yeah. Oh my God. It's a matter of when one of the dark lurkers on the top, just like, just putting like a board on top and going like teehee. Like on top of the chimney. And then we're like, got him. Wow. Well, it's the carbon monoxide because old furniture, uh, how it was treated. Oh yeah.
[00:40:13] When it's burnt gives off carbon monoxide. Yeah. So even, even, even with the ventilation of the, of this old, like, how is it? This old cottage is like fireplace fireplace. Might you creating too much carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide? Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's one of the things that even happens when we have cold winters here in Canada is people
[00:40:39] run out of firewood and start burning, um, old, uh, furniture. And then you hear on the news that people talking of carbon monoxide poisoning. And that's why in, on page 26, uh, on the page 26, uh, illustration, the, uh, the Luntakis look like they're like almost like smoky creatures trying to claw at her. Like it is the story.
[00:41:08] The story is the story is both like the story both does end as a dream, but in a good way, because like everything she's experiencing that's like weird and supernatural with the Luntakis after she like wakes up in quotes is actually just like a nightmare she's having in her death knell with the, she dies from, as she suffocates from carbon monoxide. And the clawing is her cat desperately trying to get her, wake her up from the, oh my God. That surprised me.
[00:41:36] We made this book really mundane, but also super dark. Yeah. Like creepy. Like, like, oh my God. It's real creepy. Yeah. Fantastic. Oh my God. That's, that's kind of funny and morbid and I love it. I kind of, I do kind of love that, that option, that, that idea of, for, for this. Yeah. Uh, yeah, she, this, this is why you should really check this, make sure the, uh, um,
[00:42:05] the, uh, the chimney is, uh, isn't clogged or like, doesn't have like that, uh, that, what is that, that flume or something like that, that closes up the, uh, the inside of a chimney. Sure. Cause like, there's like some kind of like a, there's some kind of a thing where you can like close off the, uh, a chimney. Like it's like a, like a little like metal bracket or something that you can like, you can flip open. So it like lets the smoke out or like close it to like it when you're not using the chimney so that you, so animals don't get into your, to your chimney. Yeah.
[00:42:32] That's really why it's, this is really just a smoky, the bear style, like safety tip for like, it's actually educational. Yeah. All right. Good job. Yeah. All right. Uh, so my next, uh, actual thought here, I go with a little critically silly. Of course you already did though.
[00:43:02] Honestly, like really silly, but like, like galaxy brain critically silly. Yeah. How do you top this one? How do you top that? Um, well, it's just where my mind went. So I just had to just write it in. Um, so here we go. Who, who, who are you? She stammered. We are the Borg resistance is futile. Wow.
[00:43:31] When you first started saying that, I thought you were gonna go, who, who, who let the dogs out. Yeah. Honestly, I thought you were going to like, when you said who, I was like, and then, uh, it's like, and it was revealed. The Kess was an owl. Wow. Also, I did bring up the, the, the, the, the way the Lontakis are, uh, from the previous
[00:43:59] story, like the way they're perceived it, they are, they do give off a Borg like, um, kind of vibe where they like assimilate people into there or like either in symbol, assimilate or like, um, uh, convert people to themselves. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. They're like Borg vampires. Borg pyres. Yeah. I also thought we are legion, but yeah. Oh yeah.
[00:44:29] There's the, there's that classic one. Yeah. But yeah, that, that's the end of my actual thoughts. All right. Uh, gamer. Okay. Let's see what I have left to talk about. If anything. Probably. Uh, okay. Uh, I'm going to bring this up again, unfortunately for you and everyone listening, but I have to bring it up.
[00:44:58] Uh, she gathered edible plants and berries and hunted game with poison darts and obsidian tipped arrows. She greatly relished the meat of the wild boar and deer. I wonder if she made her own relish too. She must, if she uses it greatly. I had to say it again. I'm sorry. I know this is two weeks in a row, but there was heavy relish two weeks in a row. It's just like, it's, it's, it's just a, a descriptive word that I'm aware. I know, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:45:28] That like M and Pratt just likes, cause it's always an M and Pratt story that it pops up in. Well, we've been reading a lot of those lately. So we have the last couple of, yeah, last, last year, at least we've been reading a bunch of them. So yeah. But yeah. Oh my God. God damn it. Gamer. You didn't see the relish coming? No. No. I honestly thought you were going to go up against like, Oh, like, like, like, I hope she like found a way to like cure the meat from the poison darts and stuff. Cause I, I had that. I, I, so when I was reading this, I didn't put in my notes because I discovered something about it.
[00:45:59] I was like, Oh, like, I hope like, how is she going to like treat that meat? And so I was like, wait, how do, how do hunters treat meat? That's been like poisoned with poison darts and stuff. So I looked it up. I found out, no, like, yeah, people like, like tribes and stuff since like early days have used poisons to like catch meat and stuff or catch like meat animals and stuff like that. And yeah, I discovered apparently, um, either because it's like diluted enough, like, so like basically as long as you don't eat enough of it, like you're fine.
[00:46:25] Also like the poison doesn't stay in the body or like, doesn't, doesn't go to the, like all the meat and stuff like that. It goes like to certain areas that you just don't go, you don't eat. Oh yeah. So yeah, apparently yeah. Like animals that have been hunted with poison darts and stuff like that, you can eat the meat without worrying about being poisoned yourself because, um, I've either just dilution or, uh, of where it's, where it affects the animal and kills them. So. Well, that's kind of neat. Yeah. I was like, I looked that up.
[00:46:54] I was like, oh, okay, I don't have to bother putting this in my notes, but then you brought up, uh, the same quote and I was like, oh, you're going to bring up that. And then you didn't. So here we are. I brought up the more important part, the relish. Yeah, of course. Yes. Uh, this is a silly place. It really is. Okay. Uh, next one.
[00:47:17] So, um, Kes is just doing stuff, finds a house, looks in the windows and then just lets herself in like without a word. Like, unless she's planning on robbing the place or murdering the residents. I feel like knocking is the accepted thing to do. Right. She not knock. No, she just walked in. She knocked the cottage. I don't know, man. Yeah. Hang on. Let me just quickly pull this out. Yeah.
[00:47:45] Um, cause I remember she like knocked at the, on the cottage and it creaked open and it's like, yeah, Kes started to beat on the door. It opened with a slight creak. No, this is the first house. So yeah. So that was for the cottage for the first house though. She just straight up opens it. Like, yeah. She peered through the front window between the blotches of like in the mildew. She saw curved oak bench, uh, with coats and hat hooks and a flight of stairs. Uh, cautiously, she tried the door. It was unlocked. Stepping inside. Kes, uh, looked around warily. Okay.
[00:48:14] Maybe she didn't even be like, is anyone home? Yeah. She just assumed. She, she straight up just assumed, oh, it's vacant. Like, yeah. I can just walk in. It's fine. Yeah. This is my Island. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kes was just like, this is my Island. Like just, yeah. Yeah. No, that is kind of, it's very peculiar. Sorry. What? Don't make that her accent now. No, no. I won't make her like Irish, like new fee. But yeah.
[00:48:43] Um, then she, at the second floor, she, finds a door that leads to a forest. And I know we wouldn't have a story if this happened, but I'd absolutely no boat at the first sign of an extra dimensional space. If this was like the here and now, like, like, and I found this, I'd be like, uh, I'm not going in there, but snap some shots up with my phone and then run down those stairs. Yeah. Dip the fuck out of there. Provisions later. Maybe. Provisions backup. Someone else. Yeah.
[00:49:12] Just to prove that you're actually seeing it. Yeah, for sure. Uh, I think as I was running out, I'd immediately turn back around and take a photo of the house itself to just make sure in case it's not there when I come back with people. That's true. Yeah. This sort of thing would be hard to, um, make people believe. And I mean like, yeah, no, whatever said. Um, and I mean like she is also alone on this Island or supposedly supposed to be on the alone on the Island. So like she can't just go find other people,
[00:49:41] but she definitely should go home, get provisions and then come back if she's that curious. But again, it's just wanted her to knock. I Twitter to be polite. Yeah. Well, she is a, she is part cat as a Gurdine. So cats are not very polite. You don't know that. You know that. I know that 100% sir. Yeah. Uh, yeah. And then, uh, my only other note is just like when I got to the,
[00:50:11] it was all a dream thing. I was like, oh yeah. And I didn't, it wasn't quite. Yeah. Yeah. I, yeah. But I didn't get that when I read it. I didn't see it that I didn't see either of the cool ways that you guys saw it. We're like her stuff's gone as in like she left it in the dream. Yeah. Like that is cool. And also the idea that this is a, a potential storybook written by the dark lurkers. Like it's just being read to one of their children or something. Or even,
[00:50:41] or even kind of more cool is, uh, this is all, this is all a dream as she's dying from carbon monoxide poisoning. Oh, that too. Yeah. I kind of, I, I hate that. That's such a, like, cause it's so mundane. It just sort of out there and like, God damn it, Mikey. But at the same time, like, it's just kind of good. Like, Oh, that would be so like dark and tragic. And the story just ends with like, like the, the, the, the unseen narrator, just like narrating, like outside of her dream. It's like, and as she,
[00:51:10] as the darkness and comes to that, that is the last we, we hear from Kes as she dies of carbon monoxide poisoning in her sleep. And then just like, it has like a moral, like line of the, like, it's like, remember to check your fireplaces before you use it. Yeah. It's like one of those like horrifying, like dark, um, safety videos from like either our country, Canada or like British, like, uh, videos where it's like,
[00:51:40] you see a bunch of kids like running around near, like, um, near some train tracks and then just the grim reapers, like just watching them. And then like something bad happened. Like, like Timmy, what are you doing? Or it's like, I don't know, Sarah, I'm just going by the tracks. No. And then the grim reapers just like watching in like abject or objective, like horror at the scene. Wow. And then, and then like, yeah, it's by the, it's usually like,
[00:52:09] by like the actual, like, uh, like the BBC or like, um, for like the board of Canada, like board of, uh, like the broadcast board of Canada or something like that. Like, just like these creepy, like moral stories, like lessons meant to like, to basically traumatize children to not doing certain, going certain places or doing certain things. Yeah. So fear does a good job at that sort of thing for a child or even for an adult, honestly. Yeah. I think I remember like a war amp one doing that where it's like the, the people were playing your, your, uh,
[00:52:39] a, uh, a train thing and they got caught. And then the train like comes in and is like, like, and then immediately cuts to, uh, the kids, like, again, like at a playground and then one of them just missing an arm. Yup. Like, like, and they've got to put their arm back. Like they've got to put their, um, their prosthetic on. It's like, Oh shit. Yeah. So did you just call the BBC, the British board of Canada? No, no, no, I was, I meant, I meant, no, no,
[00:53:09] I meant the BBC and the British and the broadcast. And the British board of Canada. No, no, that's not what I meant. I meant like the BBC and the, and the, and the broadcast board of Canada, which is, or I guess it would be the Canadian broadcast board, the CBB or what? Wait, hang on. What is it? Hang on. Hang on. This is so dumb. I hate that. I'm looking this up. Oh, it's the BBC.
[00:53:39] Yes. The broadcast corporation. Well, that's an actual station. No, there's like, there's a, there's a, an association. I guess it's just CAB cab, the, the Canadian association of broadcasters. That like basically like does those, whatever, whatever organization in our, in our Canadian government that does like the, the broadcasting things that like created those like heritage moments or like those creepy safety videos that would traumatize children in like the
[00:54:09] eighties and seventies and nineties. Yeah. It's probably the Canadian association of broadcasters. Yeah. Um, but yeah, like if you like Google, Google like British safety videos and they are fucking horrifying. Like, again, they've just like, or like, it's like kids playing in puddles. Meanwhile, there's like a downed wire that like, and the one kid was in the puddle where the wire is. And then the grim reapers just in the background watching. It's like shit like that is like kind of fucking horrifying. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:54:39] Or like when, when the kids are like playing, you're a dam in, and stuff like that. So yeah. Um, but anyway, what were we talking about before all this? Oh, right. Yeah. This is about the, the carbon monoxide poisoning. The, the, our, our fan theory that this was actually all just like a carbon monoxide, uh, poisoning, um, situation.
[00:55:09] I'm sorry. I got way off the rails there. We tend to do that. That's fine. Yep. It's better to be off the rails. Cause if you're on the rails, you could get run over by a train. Yeah, that's true. Uh, but yeah, that's all I got left. All right. Uh, then I suppose we'll move on to final thoughts. Uh, so yeah, I'm, I'm going to partially recommend it. Uh, I don't know that I, I would recommend it in this format, like as from the wiki,
[00:55:38] just because like it just, to me, it really does feel like it should be laid out as a storybook, um, to either as like a PDF or to be printed rather than like the, in the wiki style it's in. Like it's, it's, it's, it's serviceable here, but I, I really wish it was like, in terms of like the formatting and layout, I kind of wish it had been more done in like a page by page, like, um, like PDF or, or printed, like published book. The problem with that is that costs a lot of money. A little,
[00:56:08] I mean like not quite like, it's obviously like it, it would be free. It's free in here. And like, if it was as a published book, it would, you'd have to buy it. But I mean, like I, I probably would buy it as a book. I, I have another one of her books that she, like another one of her creep houses that she made into a book like already, which at one point we will cover the basement of doom. Nice. Uh, but, um, yeah, I, uh, I really, I liked, I like the, the story,
[00:56:38] like the, the, uh, the dark whimsy and the strange, like liminalness of the story, like with the cottage in a forest and a house in a headland. Um, like that's really kind of cool and creepy and it's very dark whimsy. Um, the, uh, the forest storm and the cottage beyond the door kind of stuff. Like, like that's really kind of, I like, I liked that, like, especially with the imagery that we get when the, uh, the illustrations, um,
[00:57:06] it could have been a bit more creepy and like built up that, like kind of the, the atmosphere a little bit more, I think as we, when we're getting set up for like when the Luntakis showed up and such. Um, but otherwise like it's, it's, it's serviceable. It's just like, yeah, I'm not, I don't know if I could give it a full recommendation, like a partial at best. Um, like there's, I, the way that I see it is like a lot of the, um, the reasons that we,
[00:57:34] we like it is because of stuff that we're kind of head canning because like, this doesn't overtly say a whole lot. Like it does straight up say like her stuff is missing, but I wish it said like her stuff was missing. It's like, she left it in the dream. Yeah. And like that, that's sort of on purpose. Yeah. And like, I mean like that, no, no, no, Like, but I'm agreeing with like what the other part you're saying, where it's like, it could be a little bit more, but like, that is also kind of like, um,
[00:58:04] it seems like that's probably purposeful for this story. It's it, it, people do do that in these kinds of stories to make them more ambiguous to like, leave it for the reader to kind of like, construct something bigger in this, in their head versus like what's written in the story. But, um, yeah, I definitely think there could be some more like some more clarification, like to add on to like the creepiness, like, wait, that wasn't just a dream because I left those things in that cottage. And then like, that's when like a shadowy figure, like kind of like, like pops up out of the corner of her eye.
[00:58:33] And then she was never seen again. Like if that kind of like elaboration on like the ending might've made it a little bit more, like more, I think maybe better for me. Um, just because like, it confirms that like, yeah, the Lontakis, like she thought she had escaped, but then really like, no, Lontakis got her. Yeah. But yeah. Um, yeah. So I, I think a partial recommendation, just like a lot of work was done in here. Like the illustrations obviously like really help amplify the, the, the story. Um, honestly,
[00:59:02] I kind of feel like if you took the images and like made them, like set them up as like almost like a comic kind of format and added in text, like in, in text bubbles and some of that, this could make like a really cool, like creepy comic, um, with the illustration work. But, um, yeah, just the, the style, like the, the, the formatting with the, the wiki article kind of like the, of, of creepos. Wiki or sorry, creepos. Dot fandom.com slash wiki. Um, it, it's, it, for me,
[00:59:31] it kind of hampers it a little bit. Um, because of just like how kind of how it's laid out, but that's just a personal taste thing for me with like this kind of like when you're setting up things with so many images accompanying text. So yeah. Partial recommendation. Bottom line for me, Mikey, these stands for evil. Okay. Uh, well, uh,
[00:59:59] I did like this sort of liminal space that we get the, uh, house with a forest with a house, with an island, on an island, near another house, which is on another island. Well, no, no, no, no, no. So it's a, it's a cottage in a forest, in a house, in a headland near, near, near another house, all on an island,
[01:00:29] isolated in the ocean. Sorry, continue. Um, but yeah, the, the, the creepy part of the long tacos, like they're there. And then they just sort of chase her away. Cause they want her to stay. Yeah. But then we get the fake out that it's a, uh, all a dream.
[01:00:58] And then we get the, the, Oh yeah. It was the last time anyone ever saw her. It's like, uh, what? So, and then you'd look at the image and go, okay, the, the, uh, Lentakas wrote the ending. Yeah. A little, a little Lentakas boys is, is putting it like basically graffiti to the end on a, on a blue wall in red paint. Definitely not blood.
[01:01:28] Definitely not. Definitely not Kes's blood. Why would that be? Kes's blood. I don't know. That's crazy to think that. I'm also really curious what this other character is. Like, is it like a badger man or like, it's like a white, like mammalish, like kind of woodland creature, but like on two legs and like got his hands behind his back. He's got like, yeah, like almost like big feet. So yeah, like, yeah, they're pretty large.
[01:01:59] It's a, it's Sanic. Oh my God. It's, oh my God. It's Sanic squash. Silver, the hedgehog. Maybe. Cause he's actually white. Yeah. Silver, the hedgehog. Yeah. It's sand squinch. just get, because the, the bear, like the, the, the kind of like the unfurred feet, like huge, like humanoid feet, but like also like very large.
[01:02:29] So almost like maybe big foot, but anyway, I'll stop. Yeah. Uh, so for me, because nothing really creepy happens. And then the ending is left to interpretation. Uh, I'm still only going to give this a partial. Okay. And gamer.
[01:03:04] Uh, not just on one side, like some of them, it's like bordering both sides even. And like, even having like, just setting that up is a formatting nightmare. I imagine. Oh yeah. Also. Yeah. I do like when, when it's just like, it's bouncing back and forth, like making you like read across the screen and then going back to the next one and back. And again, that, that, those are the ones that are like forming like a sequential narrative. Like you can see where like once it went ends and the other one starts and the other one goes. And then like,
[01:03:32] you can see there is like progression in the scene. That's happening between the illustration. So. Yeah, it's well done. Um, but like, I just, I like that. It's, um, it's, it's going to sound bad. It's not just another story. That's on creepypasta, um, .com, you know? Um, yeah, it's, it's unique because of that. And I give it props for that. Um, that being said, the ending, like I said, I didn't, I got that. It was trying to say like,
[01:04:02] it's important that her, her stuff isn't there anymore, but I didn't get why. Um, because I just saw it as it's a dream and, oh no, she isn't currently wearing her hat and stuff anymore, but no, she wasn't wearing it at the end because she was running away. So. Yeah. I get it now. So it makes it better. I just didn't get it at the time. Yeah, for sure. Uh, but yeah, that, that ending picture though,
[01:04:32] it, it really makes me wonder like if there's more, if that says more than I thought it did at the time, because it's either what you say, cultist, where it's just, oh, it's just an end title card. It doesn't really mean anything. Or what Mikey said, where it's like, no, it's because this is like a story that the, uh, the dark lurkers made. And this is just the end of the book for them as this is being told to someone. Like, I like that. Cause it is like it, like, again, like each image is like page 26. So it's like,
[01:05:02] it is a storybook of some kind. Um, and so, yeah, maybe it is a storybook being told by the Luntatus or some, or Luntatus. So, yeah. Or hell, it could be a story being told to a Gurdine child to like, yeah. Of people like don't go out in the woods and break into people's houses without asking permission or knocking. Um, yeah. Or stuff like that. So yeah, the more I think about it,
[01:05:31] the more I like it, but it's still like, I don't know the whole, like she was, it was all just a dream kind of kicked me in the gutter. Gonads as soon as I read it. Yeah. Yeah. Again, I was, I was with you until I heard like, until I, until I got the part where it's like, Oh wait, my stuff's missing. I was like, huh? That's where it got me back, but you didn't connect that part quite properly. So like you continued with like being in pain in the Gonads. A little bit. Yeah.
[01:06:03] And it really, it's my fault because it's not like it's a long, uh, story where like it's been like hours, of me reading between her putting her hat down and now. So it's just my intelligence score being too low. Don't, don't sell yourself too. I know we were joking earlier, but don't, don't sell yourself too short. Hey, I can do whatever I want, but yeah. Um, either way, I'll still partially recommend this. Cause I still enjoyed the story. Um,
[01:06:31] the ending could just needs a little bit more, um, clarification on why it's important that the stuff's gone as a, like a quick little reminder. Cause if I got that immediately, then I feel like I would fully recommend it. Yeah. Also one thing kind of, cause that changes it from me thinking that it's just a, it was all a dream one to like that twist ending that I would have much rather preferred catching the first time around.
[01:07:02] Yeah. I, sorry. I'm, I've been like kind of like, as I've been listening, I've been bruising, browsing down up and down the, uh, to see the images again. And so I just realized the clouds on page nine image are hands and pointing arms and, uh, well, yeah, just hands, I think. And arms. Oh shit. I didn't realize that. Yeah. I thought they were weird looking,
[01:07:30] but I never like notice those. Yeah. There's one that's like straight up hand, like right above the chimney. And then like, there's like hands that are like pointing like, are those supposed to like, yeah, that's cool. Yep. That's pretty neat. Yeah. Still a partial recommendation. Uh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, well, when I think about it, would I recommend this to someone to read? Yes, I would. It's just the, the ending didn't hit me as hard as it could have.
[01:08:01] That's fair. Is why I was saying partial. Yeah. Okay. Well, uh, that'll be, I guess, uh, yeah. Uh, roundhouse partial recommendation to the face, uh, with three partial recommendations. Uh, and, uh, that's it for tonight. So if you like what you heard, or if you didn't leave us a comment in the comment section below, where this gets posted. Some of us are on blue sky.
