[00:00:17] Hello and welcome to Al Dente Rigamortis. I'm Review Cultist. I'm Mikey, he's Dan Treville. And I'm the Gamer in Yellow. And we're here to discuss those internet stories, most creepy and most pasta eh? And be critically silly doing it. And tonight we have Crimson Mist. So yeah, I decided to do the Canadian Flare during our critically silly like part. Because it's more critically silly than like doing the like, oh hello eh?
[00:00:47] That's kind of awesome though. Oh hello eh? But yeah, so we're covering Crimson Mist, another story by Tawahue from Creepypasta Wiki, which is creepypasta.fandom.com slash wiki. So you can check it out over there, along with all of Tawahue's other stories. And yeah, I suppose we should jump in before we get too far ahead. We get too lost in the mist, as it were.
[00:01:17] I will recommend it. I will not recommend it. And once again, I will say ditto. But who is it dittling? It's Mikey, I don't recommend this one. I think I don't understand why, but you guys do you. And we'll find out if, like, if my opinion changes or if you guys maybe change. Who knows? You could make us like it. It's possible. I might be able to make you like it. I don't know about Mikey. That's fair. Yeah, he does.
[00:01:50] But yeah, so yeah, we're covering Crimson Mist. Not to be confused with Red Mist, Loose Ends, which is another Creepypasta, a SpongeBob, Lost Ends, or Lost Episodes, Creepypasta that we covered way back when in 2023. Oh, I just I realized that. I removed that from my memory. I have no memory of that one. Yeah, well, it wasn't until like right before the show that I realized, oh, yeah, Crimson Mist. It's like kind of like Red Mist, which is another Creepypasta we covered.
[00:02:20] But I remember all you do until I don't. But yeah, so let's. What number is Red Mist again? Red Mist is 457. Oh, you actually knew that. Damn it. I did look it up. Okay. What episode was who was phone? Episode zero. Damn. I'm pretty sure that was a Patreon episode.
[00:02:50] Was it? I'm pretty sure that was one of our paywall episodes. Damn, he does know well. Until I don't like. Yeah. Anyway, yeah, let's let's dive into the rundown for Crimson Mist then to get this continuing. So Nair, no name given, wakes up to a metal on metal screeching sound and a girl screaming outside his house.
[00:03:16] When he goes to check it out from his window, he finds a red fog encompassing everything and it's getting thicker. This mist fills him with a dread inexplicably and he backs away from the window. Then he gets a loud slamming at his door or at his front door. And when he investigates it, he quickly finds his dead neighbor and the world going insane outside.
[00:03:42] He has to kill his neighbor's limping but ravenous murderer before trekking out into the tinny smelling neighborhood to find better shelter from this red madness. He is spotted, chased down and attacked by a larger man with a tire iron. And as he meets his fate, he wakes up to the screeching sound again.
[00:04:09] In fact, he is on a subway car and that is what the screeching has been. And this subway car is also full of people and the subway car is slowing down. As he recovers from the shock of the dream that he now realized was just a dream, the now stopped subway car begins getting quite rowdy and people start getting more and more angry at their stationary situation and each other.
[00:04:38] Nair too feels the, Nair too feels this raging, Nair too feels this rage building until he notices. Was it really that bad? The writing of the mist? Yes, it was. Fuck off. I suppose. Until he notices that a red mist is pumping in through the vents, similar to the dream. Finn.
[00:05:08] Yeah, that's, uh, that was Crimson Mist in a nutshell. I suppose we'll move on to... Everyone, toller Instagram inquisitions! At this point, I got nothing. Mikey? I have a conjunction junction. Of course you do. And next stop, conjunction junction. Doot doot! It's too damn early for kids to be out of bed on a Saturday.
[00:05:34] It looks like it's going to be a sunny day for November, but the light seems diffused. Or at least I try to. It was self-defense. He was trying to kill me. It was an accident. It seems blissful in comparison to that hellish dream. Finn. Wow. That was...
[00:06:04] First off, I missed opportunity. I should have had this story ready for November rather than October, I think is when this gets posted. So... It's fine. But, uh, yeah. Wow, that's a short... That was a short, um... Uh, synopsis. Or conjunction junction that gave us nothing. Really. It was a nice day for November. Until it wasn't. Finn. It's almost like you know everything until you don't. Yeah. Nice callback.
[00:06:34] Mm-hmm. Yeah. For those unaware, Mikey grabs all the sentences, throw out a story that started with words that they probably shouldn't. Like, it's ends or buts. Strings them together into a story with sometimes hilarious results. Basically to highlight that there's generally better words to use. Indeed. Uh, gamer. What do you got for grammar in yellow? So, like, mine aren't, like, truly grammar stuff. They're, like, miscommunications that, like... Basically, like, the scene...
[00:07:03] Stuff in the scene wasn't described the way I thought it was. Is that grammar, or should I just go into notes? I think that's actual thoughts more than grammar. Well, the word grammar, I have that interchangeable with, like, issues that, like... It's not an issue with the writing. It's, like... If it's with, like, the description of a scene and some of that, I would say that's more actual thought.
[00:07:29] If it's, like, something that's actually, like, grammatically, like, mechanically wrong with the writing, that goes into grammar. Or if it's something that, like, you didn't know that word, I also put that in grammar. Inquisition. But... Okay, fine. Yeah. Then I don't have any, I guess. Okay. Uh, then I suppose we'll move on to actual thoughts. And, uh, I'll start with this one here. A young girl, by the sounds of it. It's too damn early for kids to be out of bed on a Saturday.
[00:07:59] Um, I can assure you, fictional narrator of this group of pasta, that as someone with a young niece cultist who gets up early to watch cartoons, this is perfectly normal. Especially on a Saturday. But, as an uncle cultist with a thin-walled bedroom neighboring the TV room at his cottage, also, yes, it is too damn early for kids to be out of bed on a Saturday. And...
[00:08:26] It's probably more along the lines of, like, I don't want them to be out of bed this early. They will. Yes, I am being critically silly with this. Yeah. But, yeah. I get to, like, first off, kids can't, the kids are always this early, but also as an adult, yes. Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Uh, moving on to the next thing I have. I meander into the bathroom of my small duplex apartment, staring myself in the face.
[00:08:54] I can't help but notice something about it just doesn't look quite right. Is that me? No, it's James Sunderland from the start of Silent Hill 2. Why is that exactly the same thing happening? Legitimately, yeah, James Sunderland is staring in a mirror in a bathroom at the start of Silent Hill 2. Is that also the start of, like, Fallout 4 or something? Yeah, kind of. Is that what the character's select screen is as well?
[00:09:23] That's the select screen for Fallout 4, yeah. But honestly, like, given that this story follows a narrator in a city with a creepy fog and crouching, I would start, even from this start, like, jumpstart, probably because of the James Sunderland kind of, like, vibe I was getting, it was giving me survival horror game vibes. Yes. Right off the hop. And then the next thing I have here, a crimson mist credits shrouds my neighborhood.
[00:09:53] That's it, that's all I had for that one. A crimson mist shrouds my neighborhood. Credits. Mm-hmm, that didn't take long. Nope. But I'll move on to the next thing. I check her pulse, just to be certain, but sure as shit, she's dead. I drop her unceremoniously, wincing at the dull thud of her body on the cheap carpet. I look up to see an older man limping down the street. Hey, you! Call 911!
[00:10:23] I yell at him. Slowly he turns. I notice he too is drenched in gore. His eyes locked on me. His eyes lock on me. And he begins a feral charge. I feel the whole fight or flight deliberation in my unconscious mind. Racing faster than I could comprehend. Flight it is. So I get, like, reading this part, I could literally see the dice rolls failing here.
[00:10:49] Like, between the sense motive roll of, like, that guy, like, limping down the hall, like, hey, call for 911. Like, no, you failed that sense roll of, like, something's wrong with that guy. And then he turned around, and then you rolled your sand check and failed that as well. He failed or passed it? Because if he passed it, he'd be, like, if he failed the sand check, he would just stand there or go insane, right? No, so yeah, if he passed it, he would do something, like, logically. He'd be able to, like, compose himself and, like, assess the situation better.
[00:11:17] If you fail a sand check, you have to roll fight, flight, or freeze. Oh, I see. Yeah, it's an involuntary thing. If you fail the sand roll in Call of Cthulhu, the tabletop RPG, which is what I'm referencing here. It's good to mention that, because some people might not know. Yeah, not everybody's a tabletop gamer, so. Mm-hmm. Um, and then the next thing I hear.
[00:11:42] All in a bloodlust rage, perpetually unsated by the violence and destruction they mindlessly seek. Meanwhile, the red mist grows thicker. There's a strange taste to the air. A cool coppery tanginess tickles my palate. Oh, this is the point where I realize the mist is making them violent because of a blood haze. I get it now. You know, it is possibly metaphorical for anger.
[00:12:10] It's a rage virus thing or something going on. I mean, yeah. Yeah. Like the red mist of like, or like the red haze kind of thing. Like, cause everything's hazy and everything's red. That's like both physical in this story, but also like, that's, that's how people describe like, like being overcome with rage and violent tendencies and such. Oh, like seeing red and shit like that. Yeah. And then everybody in this red mist is being, is being all violent and crazy. So, yeah.
[00:12:37] Well, it's really just Toronto when there's smog. Oh, sick burn. Truth though. Yeah, honestly. Especially like a couple of, well, a couple of weeks ago, there was like, um, uh, like orange smog. It was like a dystopian, like something out of Blade Runner going on downtown Toronto. So I don't know if that's necessarily, uh, uh, this sort of fog, but it was just like,
[00:13:04] I don't know, I guess, I guess based on like, um, Green Lantern rules, I guess that's like, uh, everybody was in, was consumed by fear since it was a yellow haze. Because yellow is the, is the color of fear in, uh, in the, in the, in the Green Lantern core. And then red is the, is the, uh, color of anger and rage. Yeah. And orange is nothing. And the haze is orange. So orange actually is a color in the, in the Green Lantern core. Is it? Orange Lantern core. I don't know what, I can't remember what they are.
[00:13:33] Uh, oh, it's greed. Yeah. It's the, it's the color of greed again, Toronto. Oh, it's the color of color of greed. Greed and avarice. You figure green would be greed. No, green is willpower. Is it orange? Cause it's like gold ish. I guess maybe. I don't know. Yeah, it is a little bit. It is a little peculiar. I do. I do agree with you. Like green would have been better, but like green was already taken right off the hop with like willpower.
[00:14:02] And then also the green as in like nature and stuff in, in the DCs color coding. So fair. Yeah. Yeah. Now that we've, uh, uh, had a, uh, get another nerdy, uh, uh, discussion. Let's move on to the next nerdy discussion. Exactly. Yes. So this is the part where I almost was on your side with like not agreeing with the story, but we'll get into it now.
[00:14:28] Um, uh, you don't even know what our side is right now. Uh, we'll see. Yeah. We'll see. Um, well, this is the one that like, I was almost rated like not, not, uh, uh, uh, recommend the story. The last thing I see is the brutal form in front of me, bringing down the tire iron with all the force a man can muster. Screech. I'm startled awake once more. Eyes wide, heart pounding.
[00:14:57] This time I know it's real. I know what that sound is. I know where I am. The train hisses recovering its former speed and stifling the remaining ring of the screeching brakes in my ears. I look around to see the tired visage of a packed subway car. Shit. Have I missed my stop? No, it was a dream. Yeah.
[00:15:24] Um, probably should have looked at the genre category. At the top of this creepy pasta more closely. Given those spoilers. Yeah. Spoilers. Yeah. The top of the category is like to Huawei videos, I guess, because of like the narration that there's a narration video for it and also dream slash sleep creep pasta. Now that said, I'm going to move on to the next thing that kind of saved it for me.
[00:15:52] So after he realizes he's a dream, then like stuff starts happening on the subway. Uh, as violence begins to slowly erupt around me, my anger is interrupted by something strange catching my eye. My stomach begins to tighten. Everything turns to slow motion. The commotion of yelling and anger suddenly muffled to my ears through the vents of the subway car. I can see red mist begin to pour gracefully in.
[00:16:21] Yes, it was a dream, but it was also a premonition. Kind of saved it for me a little bit. I mean, yeah. Yeah. Because at least it has the promise with this ending that like there is like it, like there was more to it than just a dream. Like there is something physically about to happen to Nair and all the people around him in the waking world.
[00:16:48] Um, and everything we just saw was, was, was something else. It has the promise of that. I'm not saying like, oh, it's guaranteed. They're like, everything's going to go shit. Like, like it did in the, in the, uh, the dream sequence, but it was like that bit of hope that I get when they, when it reveals, oh, it was a dream. And then like the person wakes up and you realize it's a dream and it kind of sucks. But then like something from the dream appears in the waking world that wasn't there prior or like to the, to the creator or to the, uh, the character is like, wait, that was in the dream. That wasn't in real life. What? Huh?
[00:17:17] Is it a dream or is it reality? Is this the real life or is this a fantasy? Caught in a landslide. Um, though, now this does make me wonder at the end here, is the red mist taking over the whole city as it was in the dream? Like, or is this just happening down in the, in the subway car as some chemical agent is being pumped in either accidentally or by some cruel human design and it's affecting the group of people trapped in the subway car only like, is it happening to the rest of
[00:17:46] the city or is it just this localized instance, um, at the end of the story? Um, and the story kind of just ends to leave us wondering like that or leave us to ponder or wonder about that, uh, that outcome. Um, but yeah, but, uh, and then I guess, um, kind of some kind of connected to this is also the image that is provided at the end of the story, uh, in, on the, on the wiki
[00:18:15] article, uh, it is an image, um, as someone from Ontario, it's very clearly the Toronto skyline, what with the CN tower dominating over the other buildings. Seriously, you can see that thing well off in the countryside outside of the GTA on the horizon most time when you're driving down to Toronto. Yeah. It's huge. Yeah. It is so tall. You can see, oh, there's the needle. Um, and there's a red fog consuming the city below it.
[00:18:44] So my question here also, like my added question here is, is this, so this, this is either a picture or a photo representing the dream scenario as like the fog descends on the, on the city and that guy's neighborhood as a result? Um, or is this also happening while the subway stuff is happening or is it both like kind of thing? I think it's both because the dream is exactly what the reality is as well. That is true. Yeah.
[00:19:10] Well, it's what, it's not exactly what is happening in real life because in real, in the dream, he woke up, nothing was wrong. And then all of a sudden outside it's hellish, but in real life, he's waking up actually, both of them are him waking up and realizing that shit's going bad, but in a different location at a different time now. Yeah, exactly. Like the location changes and like the, he had some, he had some safety separation in the dream because he was like in his home, like kind of isolated from, from the neighborhood
[00:19:38] in this, he's kind of in the, he's waking up in the thick of it as people are starting to act out and stuff like that. So yeah. Um, that's, uh, that's all I got for the, uh, for the actual thoughts for the stories. Like I, again, I, it was, it was a, a dream, it was, I was annoyed that it was a dream sequence when it was revealed, but then it kind of saved itself for me, for me personally at the end. Um, with the, the realization that the dream was also kind of a premonition of things to come.
[00:20:08] And so like it, that, when that happens in a dream sequence, creep pasta or like a scary story in resort, regardless that saves it for me. Uh, I don't know. That's not going to be the same for everybody, but for me. So now that I've been spewing positivity on the story, let's see you guys like reveal your truths upon it. Starting with Mike, East Ends Freeville. All right.
[00:20:34] So, uh, the metallic screeching. Um, until it was revealed that it was a dream sequence and it's the subway cart, which I mean, that, that was nice. Like the, it clicked. It's like, oh yeah, the screeching of the subway cart. Cause that those wheels always screech. Oh yeah. At least in Toronto.
[00:21:06] Let's okay. I'll let's, let's not just keep, I know, I know we're outside of like, we're, we're not from, we're, we're not, uh, we don't live in Toronto. So we, we like to shit on Toronto on the six, but like that is, uh, that is, um, a staple of subway cars. It is not an isolated thing to Toronto and it's TTC. Yeah.
[00:21:30] Uh, but until we get that row, that's like basically shitting on Toronto transit, isn't it? Yeah. But I mean, again, okay. To be fair though, they have it coming. Yes. I'm just pointing it out. Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. So, um, because of the mystery and the red mist and until that point, I was really hoping
[00:21:58] for, uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, aliens. Yeah. I, and maybe some automatons or something had come to take over the earth. It's like kind of a, or it's like war of the worlds where they're just like, instead of like, um, like that's, this is how they're terraforming the world is they're just putting down a red mystic to cultivate the, um, or like kind of like stem off the population and such. Yep. Well, that's what I was wanting as well. Mm-hmm.
[00:22:29] Oh, or maybe that's just the mist from their, uh, ship. Yeah. Just the exhaust. Not even like, it just happens to have a side effect on humans and it makes this fire. Oh, that's neat. I guess we'll just wait up here until they kill themselves. All right. All right. We didn't even need to use these fancy plasma casters. We just developed like a couple of years ago. We can just use, uh, this like gas that's harmless to us, but apparently it pisses them off the hell. Um, honestly, I did kind of like early on before it was revealed that it was a metal screeching I, or like that.
[00:22:57] It was, um, uh, the, the subway car thing. I did kind of like, was wondering if that was part of the, it was part of like a bigger mystery other than like, just like what the sound is. Like, I was wondering if it was like something to do with like skyquakes, which are a real phenomenon that kind of happens. And we're still not sure exactly how it happens, but basically like people in like random locations around the world, like even far away from like trains or like truck, like big trucks and stuff like that, we'll just start hearing like metal on metal rending sounds in the air
[00:23:26] over their town. And we're still not quite sure what that is. I think there might be some explicit, some, some, like some theories that are like pretty like, uh, that are logical, but like, we don't know for any definite. I don't think we know quite yet like what they are, but yeah, I was wondering if it was that. And then again, with the whole like silent hill aspect that was kind of already giving me at the start, I was like, is this just like the rust world?
[00:23:53] Like just like there's just the ambient sounds that you hear in, in, uh, in the, in the fog world. That's, uh, that's consuming the, the real world. This is just, it's just pyramid head walking, scraping the metal. Yeah. As he's like scraping his, uh, his, his blade, uh, against like the asphalt as he walks through the, through the streets, like a harbinger of doom. Um, but yeah.
[00:24:19] And then those want to know, apparently the proposed causes for skyquakes are meteors exploding, uh, in high atmosphere. Yeah. Um, escaping gas from lake beds or seismic shifts below the surface or, uh, military jets breaking the sound barrier out of sight. Yeah. Yeah. Those are, those are some of the working theories is so what they could be. Yeah. But yeah. Um, I, I kind of with you, like I kind of, I also kind of wish it'd been like something
[00:24:47] again, because we thought it was a dream. We didn't know it was a dream sequence right off the hop. It makes sense. Like, oh, that's what the screeching was coming from. That it's actually kind of smart for like, in terms of like, cause real world stuff does affect your, your, your dreaming world when you're like dreaming, like it does. So that, that makes sense. That would be incorporated. But yeah, I also kind of wish it had been something more like supernatural or extraordinary. Yeah.
[00:25:10] But, but, so, um, and then the, um, the exact opposite of cultists. So the fact that it was just a dream and then it happens in real life, which is like, really, it was in the dream. Why is it happening in real life? Because it was a premonition. Cause I don't know.
[00:25:38] Honestly, like, and that, that's just like, and honestly the premonition thing is just a guess for me, but like, yeah, well, it has to be. Cause like, what else would it be? Otherwise how you load into a previous checkpoint or something like, oh, well he did die. He, oh my God. He, he died in the neighborhood. So now he's, he's respawned somewhere else and the world's just a simulation. Yeah. It's all procedurally generated. It's roguelike. Yeah. It's just like that blood plague that happened in, uh, in wow.
[00:26:06] When like, um, or that blood curse that like, um, that. That create, create a pandemic in, in world of Warcraft where like this blood haze or this blood, like this, like deadly, like blood, uh, blood cursor, like disease, like swept through Azeroth because somebody like left a, a boss fight that had the blood curse, but it stayed, the curse stayed on their pet. Um, even when they desummoned them and when they resummoned them, it killed off entire cities. Wait, what?
[00:26:37] Yeah. Are you not, you as a gamer, I'm surprised you didn't know about this. This, this actually was, it was after my time. Okay. So like, yeah, this blood curse pandemic thing happened in world of Warcraft and it actually helped like the CDC and like, um, um, like the emergency services and so that like figure out like procedures for dealing with real life pandemics. Like honestly, some of the pandemics like preparation stuff that we have, we had during 2020 is thanks
[00:27:06] to our in are technically thanks to as to, to, to a, to a virtual plague that happened in Azeroth. I find that ridiculous. Well, it's mostly like the, the information about like how people would react. Cause a lot of the players were like, there were grifters that were like spreading the virus, but there were also people. Yeah. Griefers. Yeah. That's right. Yeah. Um, but there were also like a large portion of people that like were reacting as if it was an actual like epidemic that was going on and they were trying to help like save people and stuff.
[00:27:33] So they took that like social information and like that kind of contributed in probably in some small way to preparation when, when 2020 happened. Yeah. It must be a small way because like, it's not like those people that are being griefers and spreading it. They 90% of them wouldn't be doing that in real life. No, but like, yeah, cause that was like, Oh, cause it's a video game. Like, so like in that information is like, no, but I'm just saying like, yeah, there apparently like that is like, it did help people like, cause it was like a social study in a way of
[00:28:01] like how people, how, how society would react in, in this kind of an event. Interesting. But question though. Yeah. So how did it happen in the first place? Explain that again. Yeah. So there's a boss. I can't remember which one it is. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. But basically like when you're fighting it with like all, like with a group and some of that, like your raid, um, it was giving blood, like an area of effect, blood curse to like all the people involved, including your pets.
[00:28:26] And it, the, the curse went away when you defeated the boss, um, like for the player characters, but it didn't, it didn't stop. Um, it didn't, uh, go away for the pets, even when they de-summoned the pets. So then when they'd leave the boss fight or the temple or whatever, and go back to the big city, they'd resummon their pet and the pets still had this contagious blood curse on them. And it would infect other people who then suddenly have the blood curse and that, and it's an infectious thing.
[00:28:55] Like it basically, like if you go too close to it, you get it. So it was, it was a glitch or something that happened or some kind of a, some kind of a hiccup in the, in the programming where like it didn't go away on the pets, um, even after you summoned them. So then, yeah, it, it spread through the pets. Okay. Cause the way you first said it, it sounded like it was intentional by the devs to have like this like fun little weird, like three. It was completely by accident.
[00:29:25] Okay. Yeah. Cause that also sort of reminded me, um, to, uh, elite dangerous how like that game is set up. So they put stuff in the world and however players interact with it. But that's how it's the way that players interact with things is how it, how the story progresses like canonically living, it's a living virtual world. Yeah. Like if they put in some weird new alien that no one's seen before and people start shooting
[00:29:54] it, it's going to become hostile. But if most people were like chill with it, then it wouldn't be. Yeah. I get that. So I thought it might've been that, but it's literally just, oh, it's a bug, but it did this really interesting thing. That's pretty cool. Thank you for sharing. Yeah. Um, I'm trying to figure out how we got here. Mikey, I think you were like saying that you didn't care for this because of that, because of the dreams. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:30:20] For me, as soon as I saw him like wake up from the dream sequence in my head, I'm just like, oh shit, here we go again. I just seem like start walking down the alleyway about to go like fight some dudes. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks. And Andreas. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, oh shit. Here we go again. Yeah. Um, but yeah, I mean, that's, that's fair. I, I, I, I kind of assumed like it's, there's a dream sequence thing and like, yeah, you guys
[00:30:49] generally don't like this. So as soon as you read that, like, oh, I like that. And then you're like, oh, they're not going to like it. Well, and again, like to, to a degree, like I, when, when it was revealed, cause I didn't even realize it was going to be a dream sequence story until it happened. And I was like, oh, boo. And then for me, it kind of brought it back. But like, I know that's not everybody's opinion. Like, I'm like, we're not all going to share like that same, like, yeah, they brought back. It's like, no, they couldn't bring it. It's too late. It's already dead. Let me say this. Would you have preferred the story?
[00:31:19] Or sorry, would you have liked the story better if the story ended when he got hit by the tire iron? Like just blacked out from that hit. It's stories over. I kind of do actually. I think that was, yeah, I know. Me too. That also actually would have been pretty good. Yeah. Cause like, or, and then a lot more interesting questions there, or it switches to the POV of the, the, of the other guy as like reach and just like, I don't know. But yeah, no, I think, I think it for me, like, obviously like I'm fine with it as
[00:31:47] it is right now, but I would also like, I do think it would also work just as well if it wasn't, if the guy didn't teleport or if the guy didn't respond slash wake up. Yeah. Yeah. Cause it would leave more of a mystique, I think to the screeching sound as well as to like, what the fuck's going on? It'd just be this like, yeah, no Toronto, Toronto gets fucked. So, so Toronto on a Tuesday. Am I right? Oh. Yeah.
[00:32:16] So that, that's the end of my actual thoughts. All right. Uh, gamer. So my first note regarding hearing the pounding on his door and then they're like remembering that he shouldn't open the door because of the fog, but then he does it anyways. Anyways, um, I found it kind of odd because like, he didn't even call out like who's there or check like to see, like check a window to see if he could see the person. He just like, I just got to open the door. It was like, it immediately set him in Durpland.
[00:32:46] That's why not many people live there. Yeah. He's from the Durpland district of Toronto. Yeah. Yeah. Cause like you wake up, you see red mist outside, you hear a loud bang on your door and you don't even ask who it is. What? It was very weird. Yep. Mm. Mm. Like, I don't know if he had like glass on the door that he could have like peeked through or, uh, or people. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, he's like in a duplex apartment, but it's like, it's a house still. Right. Yeah.
[00:33:15] That's okay. Yeah. That's actually when I was doing the, um, like do one of my, my duplex apartment. I want to see what that actually looks like. Cause I, yeah. Wait, hang on. Hang on a sec. Okay. No. Okay. Departments are houses. Okay. Yeah. So it's not necessary. That's why he just walked outside his front door. That's the apartment word was confusing me. So like the word apartment in that was also kind of confusing because a lot of the time
[00:33:40] I, just because I associate apartments with like build, like, like big enclosed buildings, not a house. Yeah. I think it's basically like take a house split vertically down the middle. One person lives on one side. One person lives on the other side and it's duplex cause they have a bottom floor and a top floor. Yeah. Gotcha. I believe that's how it is. Yeah. Yeah. Regardless, he probably should have checked or called out or something. Yeah. For sure. Especially with, if there was nothing weird outside, it would still be weird that he didn't
[00:34:09] open the door and check, but especially because there's weird shit going on outside, he probably should have checked. Yeah. Especially. Yeah. So yeah, with the rain, with the red, red mist and he's getting like an inner voice saying like, don't do this. And then like there's a metal screeching sound outside. There's a woman screaming outside. Like, yeah, it's, it's very much. He's, he's in the Durplin neighborhood of, of Toronto. Yeah. There's a lot of red flags that he's just ignoring. Yeah.
[00:34:39] Yeah. Especially the white flags turned red by the mist. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. Nice. So my next one is a miscommunication. Uh, that I mentioned earlier, uh, regarding the, the neighbor dead and then Nair sees someone outside and calls to him to help notice. He's gone feral, then runs back inside. So that's the way it's described. But like for me, I thought he never left the house.
[00:35:10] Like Nair went to open the door. The moment he turned the handle, a dead weight against the door, pushed him back. Yeah. Pushing him further into his house while he catches this body of this dead lady. Uh, and then drops her unceremoniously on the ground. Yeah. Looks outside, see someone calls to them and then runs back inside. He never left the house. Like he may have like, he may, yeah. Like what's, what's missing here is like him going up to like his stupor or
[00:35:39] whatever, or like down the steps, like to call for help, like to call, like to look outside a little bit more thoroughly. Yeah. Cause the way it's described, he's just like poking his head out and like you have enough time from like somebody running from the street to your door to if in that position to just close the door, except he does have the lady there. Like that's my next problem. I'll get into that. Okay. Cool. But regardless, as far as I saw it, he never even poked his head outside. Like he just got stumbled back. He looked out the door and saw someone because there was no description of him needing to go and look.
[00:36:09] He just saw someone immediately. So yes, as you said, it needs some description of him going outside for him to go back inside. Yeah. And even the act of him going outside, he should have resisted that because very first thing is he's getting gut feelings is like, I should not open this door. I should not go outside. And then he opens the door and he goes outside. Yeah. He's actively fighting the inner thoughts. And this time the intrusive thoughts should win. Yeah, they absolutely should.
[00:36:38] So my next basic communication here is regarding the dead body's placement at the time Nair tries to run back inside apparently. So the body pushed the door inward, I assume, since it was leaning against the door and it opened as soon as he turned it. So it was pushing against the door, pushing the door in onto him. Which means most of the body would have fallen into his house and onto him. No doubt making him stumble back a little bit as he's like catching this and
[00:37:07] like surprise and all that. And then so when he discards the body, he unceremoniously drops her, which to me is like just dropping her wherever he is. No effort chosen to pick a spot. So just boom, just drop her. Yeah. Which means most of the body would be past the door frame with maybe like below the knees sticking out the door.
[00:37:30] All that to say in his hurry to shut the door, he chose to push the body outside. Yeah. But it would have been way easier to just bend her by the ankles because she only fell forward. You could have just used the knee joints to bend the legs up and close the door. My excuse and devil's advocate for Nair here is he had entered a flight state. So a fighter flight state. So he is in a panic. He is not thinking rationally.
[00:37:59] He is panicking in this instance. So he's not making the best choices. The way that I thought it is like maybe he was thinking on zombie logic as in like, so she could be waking up and turning feral soon. I need to get her out of my house. Yeah, definitely going like a meal. Yeah. Based on that side, like it's definitely the rage virus going on or something. So, yes. Yeah. But yeah, regardless, there was still some miscommunication.
[00:38:25] I feel in regards to where the body was, because if it mostly fell inside, fine. But there needs to be just like my previous one, there needs to be some reasoning behind the actions. The previous one, there was no mention of him going outside so he didn't have to run back in. And this one, like it seems strange that he would try to waste the time pushing it out when he is scared for his life that this thing is going to kill him. Yeah. Which goes to my next note quite nicely.
[00:38:54] It's smart thinking for him to whack the feral with the door. That's quick. Yeah. Very quick thinking to do in a panic. Not something I would have thought of. I would have thought of probably doing the easier option of moving the body, but not of weaponizing the door. Yeah. There's definitely not an unmanly scream. Yeah, absolutely. There's definitely none of that. It was definitely a very manly battle cry. Not a squeal at all. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:39:25] But yeah, no, that was actually a really... I did it. It's like... Totally says some one line. Exactly. Also, the way you described how she falls into him and into the house and some of that, definitely for some reason, definitely not like Mendoza in... Was it Mendoza in Halo when the Chief opens the door right before the Flood appearance? Oh, probably.
[00:39:50] And the body falls onto Chief and then Chief drops the body and gets the found footage chip off of him. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. But yes, I don't remember the name. But very much that, yes. Yeah. But my next note... I wrote this in all caps, so I'm not going to bother screaming it. He leaves his house? Why?
[00:40:16] I did that in all caps, bold underlined with exclamation points. Because, like, he said to himself, he lives in a quiet neighborhood, so there's not many people around him. Also, he said he needs a weapon. Does he still have the umbrella with him? Did he even bring it? Did he go look for a better weapon than just an umbrella in his house before he left? Also, he just woke up. Does he even have shoes on?
[00:40:41] Like, there's so many things he should be doing before deciding to venture out into the zombie-infested wasteland that was Toronto. Like, personally, I feel like he should have dragged the bodies out of his house, went inside, shut the door. Think. Especially, like, since right out of the gate, the first thing he said to himself was, like, the fog. Don't go out there. There's something wrong with it. But, like, regardless, he should at least take, like, a half an hour to sit down and
[00:41:13] let things sink in, get some breakfast, find a weapon, try his phone, you know, make a plan of where to go if he needs to leave. Because, like, he just goes. Just goes. Completely unprepared. He does what children do in, like, in kids' horror movie stuff. They just go. They don't think about it, you know? Yeah. Like, it's so dumb. And, like, hell, this story was posted 2021 as well. So, like, grab a freaking COVID mask, brud.
[00:41:42] Like, I'm sure most of us have some shitty ones laying around somewhere because, like... I'm literally staring at my box of them. Yeah, there you go. Like, you're going out in this weird fog that, as far as he can tell, is turning people into rage zombies. And he doesn't think of, you know, protecting his mouth and nose. Because it's clearly an airborne virus that's going around. And yet his first decision is to go out there with all of his holes completely unfiltered.
[00:42:11] So, if I can just interject for a second. Okay. And both, again, devil's advocate again. And maybe just also give an excuse for this character's actions. He's already infected. The moment he opened the door and let in, like, the corpse and then had to deal with, like, the other guy. The soon-to-be corpse. He's already been infected. Also, see my comment about him, like, being in a panicked state and that continuing.
[00:42:41] Like, he's not thinking logically either because he's still in a panicked state. Because that doesn't just go away instantly after you've done something. Like, that sometimes sticks with you and your choices. And also, yeah, like, if whatever's in the air and, like, the fog and stuff, it may physically, like, it may visually not be in his house yet. But it's probably, like, chemically in his house as soon as you open that door. Probably.
[00:43:06] But again, like, I don't care how, like, freaked out or scared fight or flight you are right now. Or specifically flight. Because he said flight. He said fight. He might want to get a weapon and go out there and beat the shit out of these things. But he specifically said, I guess we're doing flight. Right. So, like, his first decision, I think, in the back of his head, like, or even in the front of his head. I need to get to safety. Safety is my home. I was safe here before I opened the door. I'm going back into the home and hiding underneath the bed.
[00:43:34] Like, I feel like that's the first thing that he would be doing. Yeah. Personally, like, I would also probably, again, like, lock the door. Like, no one's allowed inside. Like, I'm with you on that side. But, like, I don't know. It didn't bug me as much in the story, maybe, for some reason. But, yeah. I also understand why you're getting angry at it. Yeah. And there's the other issues that the neighbor's house is on fire. Yeah. I'm just going to get into that.
[00:44:04] Like, he says his neighbor's home is on fire. But his isn't yet. So, like, that's even more reason that he needs to go in his house and get whatever supplies he needs to, like, potentially survive this. Instead of just going out there in just, like, a jacket and frickin' his boxer shorts like he's frickin' dungeon crawler Carl out here. Like, that's basically what he is. Yeah. He's not prepared at all. Yeah.
[00:44:34] Well, because he lives in Toronto. So, he's, like, got to pay, like, most of his money goes to his rent. So, he doesn't have a whole lot, like, with, like, that he owns. So, it's, like, that's why he needs to, like, that's why he only has, like, an umbrella as, like, a makeshift. Well, he doesn't even have knives, like, butchered, like, he doesn't even have, like, sharp knives. They're just, like, butter knives, maybe. Or, like, plastic forks and knives. I can't see, like, just. A lot of assumptions. Yeah. Well, so are you, sir? Am I? Am I? Yeah, I think you are.
[00:45:02] I have a kid, but it's, like, again, this is also further information about, like, why this character. Well, like, further hints that this is a dream sequence because he's playing. He's acting like he's in a nightmare where, like, you wouldn't, like, not all. You don't always think of the most logical things in dreams. So. But. I mean, okay, fine. It's a dream. Nothing I say makes sense. It doesn't matter anymore. No. Fine. Fine. Fine.
[00:45:32] Fine. Some of that. But, again, like, we all act differently when we're, like, in horrible, stressful situations or, like, that you just do not understand properly. So. But, yeah. I don't know. I'm not saying, like, you're wrong for being angry at the. Not angry, but, like, for disagreeing with this guy's actions. I'm just saying it's, like, there are some reasons in the story, presented in the story as to, like, why that could be, like, why he's acting the way he is. Yeah. I don't know.
[00:46:02] it's it's it's basically just the whole it was a dream thing so any discrepancies with everything before finding out it's a dream which is 90 of the story is invalid because it was a dream so it doesn't matter well yeah because that's like literally like the way it's written is because it is a dream so like it's supposed to like hint at that yeah i don't know i was taking out of face value assuming that this is not a dream because why would i assume that right out the gate did
[00:46:29] you catch the dream twitch or twist before it happens i didn't okay uh i was it wasn't like you're like there's so many cult there's so many signs that you i'm saying that i'm i'm saying that after i've read the story and after i've got the context of it and i'm thinking back on the story i'm yeah i'm not doing like surface level anymore i'm now like thinking on the story like deep diving into the
[00:46:53] story yeah fair enough but yeah anyways my next note it was as we're talking about is the uh it was a dream thing i see that show up like because like i was genuinely interested in what the metal screeching was like i it was some giant alien machine that was going around turning people into rage monsters or something i don't know but no it's just it's just the train no it's just
[00:47:21] the train yeah so basically the most interesting thing in the story was nothing was mundane yeah yeah great i hate it it was it was both it was both nothing but everything for the story because it was like again like when it's revealed like oh that's what that was because it's a dream like he's hearing this sound constantly and wondering what and it's being incorporated into his nightmare and and such but yeah no it's just nothing it's not everything it's just nothing sure
[00:47:51] all right well because sure it could it contributed something to a dream although you not never saw anything in the dream that it contributed to it was just a noise and in the real world it was literally just a sound of the train that he's on but it has no like importance to the actual real life story being told of the red mist turning people into rage monsters no you wanted you wanted there to be a connection to that and the rage monster stuff and really it was just a signifier
[00:48:19] that there was that this was a dream or this was further evidence after you after the fact after you've read it like oh that's what why that screeching was going on it was he was hearing the screeching of the brakes on the subway yeah yeah so yeah my last one was just in regards to the ending and like with the whole dream thing it's like i guess he could see the future but it's like not the future but it's kind of the future but like does that mean he like is able to like resist the rage because he could see where it's coming from compared to
[00:48:47] everyone else because like he gets knocked out of it a little bit because someone pushed him down or something wasn't it yeah he gets a little angry and like how close people are getting so he tries to like start shoving people and then he gets shoved back um so and then his anger only goes away when he sees when he spots the red mist pouring through the vents yeah so basically if he didn't see the uh if he didn't have the dream he wouldn't have made the connection probably yeah yeah
[00:49:18] but does that mean see that's that's my whole problem with this story is like okay i'm fine with him having a premonition and then it's happening in the real world and he's like okay i actually foresaw this somehow and like him seeing the red mist snaps him out of the rage but the most interesting thing is how is he going to get out of this sardine can of rage zombies like i want to see what's about to
[00:49:41] happen as do i but this is also a thing in horror stories a lot of the time is like like he finds he realizes what's going on too late and the story just fades to black as he is and we can either assume that maybe he'll try and get away that would be an extra part of a story that you could incorporate or no just like he's fucked like everybody else in that in that train car he's fucked like that's that's the horror ending but i i do agree with you i would have loved an extra part like
[00:50:10] like continue the story after this of him like finding a way to get open the door and just like get out into the into the tunnels away from the from the murdering um like population in the in the train track in the subway car hell even if someone just grabs him and throws him out like through the window it defenestrates to those thick windows glass yeah i have to i have to think that subway car glass is is tougher than you can't defenestrate somebody through oh probably but with all those
[00:50:36] people fighting and all the like punches and elbows and heads headbutts being thrown everywhere like there'll be some weakened glass that you could throw a body through can you throw a body through subway you're adding that to your search history yep no you cannot throw a body through subway car glass while while hollywood frequently features action sequences where characters are thrown effortlessly through glass real world physics
[00:51:05] and transit safety standards make this virtually impossible and that is actually cited from quora that is amazing i'm glad it didn't take it as like what are you considering doing yeah no of course have been called hi cesus yeah oh come on like i'm sorry if any if any cesus agent or like government agent has like been tracking our our like conversations and stuff like that on this
[00:51:31] podcast or our other affiliated podcasts they know we're harmless our other affiliated podcast one that's a weird way to plug that which is a tabletop rpg not as weird as you think because a lot of weird and like uh and like not controversial but um like a lot of weird and um uh and um red flaggy kind of conversations um come up when you're when you're talking with uh when you're talking about tabletop rpg
[00:52:01] scenario like especially with delta green and such like how how do you get rid of a disposable body yeah how can we illegally acquire uh guns in my area right yeah exactly like that kind of stuff yeah so it's it's yeah i'm i'm not i'm not concerned if i go missing or if i get if i get like if i just if i get disappeared you guys will know what happened
[00:52:26] but yeah you went to a farm upstate right yeah yeah of course yeah what was the human equivalent that we coined a couple episodes ago i don't remember anymore man i don't know so long ago oh it was at west planting uh yeah to plant at west plant trees at west yeah yeah my brain sometimes works until it doesn't yeah i prefer yours of you knowing things until you do
[00:52:56] don't compared to my brain works until it doesn't yeah anyways that's all i got for notes all right uh moving on to final thoughts um so yeah i i will still recommend it i'm not gonna lie the story almost lost me like like like i said on in earlier uh like like you guys the story almost lost me because it made it all a dream but then for me it gave us that kind of horror ending where it may
[00:53:26] not just have been a dream it might have been a premonition of things to come and then the narrator is doomed uh and and you know what i'm cool with that in this case um apparently that's a hot take on our show but here we are yeah so i i will still recommend it even though it was almost a uh a it is technically a dream sequence creepypasta but there is that promise at the end that it may not just have
[00:53:53] been a dream there was something more so i recommend it for that mikey these stands for evil well as stated i didn't like it because of the dream sequence and the the one thing i i actually did like the tying of the screeching so we get an explanation for it but i didn't like that it was
[00:54:20] revealed that oh it was all the dreams like ah you like that it tied to the mundanity but you hated the mundanity of it yeah and then like the stuff in the dream suddenly happening in real life i also didn't care for um because it and if it was a premonition it would have been her them waking up in
[00:54:44] their bed again um i mean yeah and complaining about those damn kids yeah if it's gonna be a groundhog's day situation if it was a groundhog's day situation but it's just kind of like a light premonition of like kind of knows something yeah or again it's it's actually a hint that this actually isn't necessarily a dream sequence story it's
[00:55:10] actually the man is trapped in a simulation that's probably where we got the whole like blood rage thing or that's how we started the the the blood plague thing early with the world of warcraft is like he uh he got killed by that guy in the street uh at his house the first time he tried getting out of the the red mist and then he died respawned on the subway yep and and life is and the universe is just a simulation and he he just respawns and he's the only
[00:55:37] and he's now actively aware that he respawns so he's stuck in his own personal hell yes well either way i i didn't care for it so i'm still not gonna recommend it all right fair enough gamer for me while the concept was cool like the red mist coming into town and seemingly to turn people into rage
[00:56:03] zombies and all that the implement implementation of it like didn't really catch me honestly um like nare going back on his gut feeling to stay inside the body location debacle that i brought up leaving the house unprepared uh and most damning of all uh the it was all dream situation like it could have been worse it could have just actually just been a dream and that's it and he he's just in a normal happy life after that so i'll give it that that it like connects it to it but it just
[00:56:33] left more questions to me like so earlier you said it's like wouldn't you liked it if it just stopped when he died it's like it's like wouldn't you liked it less if it had stopped it like shit have i missed my stop and it just comes there yes i would hate it even more yeah i would agree with right there i would have agreed with you like it's like no i hate the story like damn it like i hate dream sequence story because i again i i am i definitely i'm more tolerant of dream dream sequence creepposes but i also
[00:57:02] just get tired of stories when they like i've read and watched enough media um that has it where like the horror story ends up being either a dream sequence or the person was just in an asylum like they're just like it was all in their head kind of stuff um because that stuff like i maybe just because like i there's one time like uh in one time at band camp no one time in summer where i watched like one too many horror movies that all ended in the the person was just insane or like there was
[00:57:32] something wrong with them like mentally and so like they it was all in their head kind of thing and like it was and it's just like i'm tired of this trope so bad yeah but yeah so yeah you recommend this well because i recommend it because there is the redemption at the end like that this one has that saving grace for me in that it may not just be in their head like i like that's the part of where the trope kind of like turns itself around on for me is when it's it gives you a hint that there might
[00:57:57] not be all in their head yeah but here's my problem with it though most of the story is irrelevant this story could start with there's a screeching noise i wake up on the subway and everyone's starting to get angry and it's just a micro pasta like it would be better as that all of the dream stuff doesn't help the actual real story that's going on it just brings up that nair is apparently able to
[00:58:25] foresee a version of the future i'm cool but it goes nowhere i'm gonna have to agree to disagree because that's what you do that's what i do but also like i think you're looking too much of the destination like the like and less about the journey because like up until the the reveal that it was a dream like i really enjoyed like him like finding out the like the mist and like the with all the mist and the rage zombie stuff going on his neighborhood and then he gets killed and he wakes up in
[00:58:52] in the subway and it was all a dream like up to that point i don't think that's complete like i enjoyed that part like it's sort of like when you're watching a movie where like things are going crazy and ridiculous and so and you're enjoying that movie up until that point where it's revealed oh it was all in their head or it was all a dream and then like oh that's the disappointment part and if the movie stops there like that's where i hate the movie or i don't really care for the movie but i can i liked it because because i liked it leading up to that point um but then in this case
[00:59:20] the story like does give you that other that twist that double twist ending where it's like it's not just a dream there might have been some more to it than that and that's where the story kind of redeems itself to me so i don't know yeah because it's as you said i enjoyed everything up until the dream sequence because like that was all interesting stuff and like i wanted to know what
[00:59:44] the metal scraping thing was but like it's just it's all not real or something that's mundane is what everything that happened in the dream sequence was so like that just it just killed it unfortunately and i was like okay that sucks but like okay he's waking up and i'm he says like this is totally real life now believe me guys um i'm like okay well we'll see what's actually happening
[01:00:09] here and it stops before it gets good yeah is basically my problem because like if this is the real world now fine but like i need to be in here for a little bit to see the connection between the him prophesizing what's about to happen and it actually happening but like there's just not enough time in the real world for me to to get the redemption for me at least okay yeah that's fair
[01:00:35] because like what it felt like is like the whole opening scene kind of felt like it's oh the whole story actually it felt like a demo level of a bit of a horror video game like you get a taste for things but like it stops right when it's about to get good yeah if you know what i mean yeah i get you yeah it's like the whole dream sequence is like a tutorial level in a resident evil game and
[01:01:02] then he wakes up and then he's actually in the game like the the whole thing is just a tutorial to tell you how to do things spoilers for you for the evil within that's kind of the evil within is is kind of the story but also that that situation yeah but yeah i don't know honestly it bugged me i'm sorry no again i'm not angry at you like you guys and it's it's like we jokingly say it's like you're
[01:01:30] you're allowed to be wrong but like again it's it's just that thing it's like not like again there's a reason why there's a whole category for dream sequence stories on the creep pasta wiki and like in media like people do like it some people don't care for it at all other people are fine with it but like don't other but like i may be getting tired of it so it's just like yeah it's just we all have different opinions on like the story so like this is why we do this is why this is a conversation
[01:01:56] and a discussion not a full not not like a like we're all unanimous we have to be unanimous no we we all have different opinions and feelings about the story i know and this is my opinion i know and i'm happy for you are you though i am like i mean i'm sorry i'm sad that you don't like share my
[01:02:16] opinion but like you're you're you're right to your opinion on this it's fine all right so uh that's it right yeah uh all right well i guess uh that'll be um two non-recommendations and one one recommendation for crimson mist uh and um do with that what you will uh out there as we've said
[01:02:43] like everyone has a different uh sort of tolerance level for for dream creepypastas so and uh that'll do it for tonight's episode so if you like what you heard or if you didn't leave us a comment in the comment section below where this gets posted some of us are on blue sky mikey is at the e stands for evil and i'm at review cultist you can also send us emails at
