(Homebrew): Pokemon Prospectors - Episode 7: The Daily Grind and Shop Talk

[00:00:00] Hi, Chris the GM here again. Don't worry, this isn't anything bad. I just wanted to let you know, this session brings to mind something that we did a lot in this campaign, which was we did a bunch of background training and catching of Pokemon and stuff off recording. And I think we even had one session of this kind of stuff that we lost during this campaign. So you might have noticed some characters had Pokemon when they didn't previously.

[00:00:30] And that's the reason for that. So, um, but this session is sort of an example of the kind of shenanigans and stuff that happened. Um, and fortunately has a little bit more meat to it than just rolling of dice. Like there's a little bit more role playing as well in here. So it's why we kept it in. So please enjoy the Daily Grind of some homesteading Pokemon Prospectors.

[00:01:20] I'm rolling my d6. Alright. Sweet! Random encounter. Okay. So we'll go again then. I know it was a random encounter so it's uh, Diglett. And uh, BC local Pokemon. That's the exact same level. Right at the top. Damn it! What's wrong? Uh, we're doing uh, random encounter- We're doing the roles for the- And let's uh, uh, We're searching for more Pokemon. Yeah. So, there's a list of five that we have for Pokemon. And, uh, so- Is there only a list of five? Large icons? That's what- Extra wedge works against. Eric can't speak.

[00:01:50] Why is it only loading the first three? That's why we use smaller ones. Oh, I can't be ahead. It just has loading stuff. Well, Eric- Eric, how did you get five out of the list? Oh, you went with the ones that weren't checked off. We're looking for uh, for the opposite gender of the ones that are checked off though. Yeah, but Chris said that that's a random role in itself. I said- Yeah, if we had- It was like- Yeah, I thought we were just gonna keep looking for them though, and just fucking slaughter the ones that we already have. That was the way we did it last time. Grimdor. Yeah.

[00:02:18] We were just fucking catching the other ones for food. Like, oh, a Pidgey! Oh, we already have that gender! Well, we'll- We're eating Pidgey! Yeah. It doesn't really work for a better pre-do. No, not really, but- Well, then- Experience. Feed them to one of your bird Pokemon. Yeah. It's experience too. I'll feed it to my spider Pokemon. Okay. [00:02:46] We need our beta today, because at nine o'clock this morning- Oh, you haven't told them the story yet? I only remembered because you brought up Lazarus. Anyway, at nine o'clock this morning, um, we heard this sound come from the living room, and we both woke up from it and went, what the fuck was that? Yeah, and because our brains couldn't place the sound, but we knew that it wasn't like, you know, a bad sound like an intruder, we were like, whatever, go to bed. We just assumed, fuck it. I had to do it, right? So it was going to be a defensive 11. Oh, you got up and checked and didn't find anything.

[00:03:13] It wasn't until we got up four hours later that we noticed that our beta had been sitting up on top of the aquarium. Oh, yeah, that hits. No longer on top of the aquarium. Right. The cat had gotten up because of the fucking chair on top of the aquarium and knocked the fucking beta over. At nine o'clock this morning. At one o'clock, when Steph gets up, the beta's lying on the carpet. She goes to scoop him up with the net so we can flush him and he moves. So we scoop him up real quick and get him back into some water? He's still alive.

[00:03:42] Four hours on the carpet and he was still alive. I cleaned this fucking tank. I cleaned this bowl. I cleaned this bowl. I cleaned the name of Jesus and I next did. Got him into fresh water. Like his bowl's clean in fresh water now. And look how sweet next time we were. Wow. Four hours on the carpet. I couldn't believe it. I thought he was dead. We have to name him after some famous political figure who survived assassination. And then I couldn't think of any. I couldn't think of any. So I was like, we should name him Jesus. And Steph was like, we're not naming him Jesus. And I'm like, how about Azurus? Really?

[00:05:02] The Diglett is just like, after you tackle this Diglett, it just comes at your ponido with a fury that knows no bounds. Diglett and no fury? No, no. But it's using scratch with like double damage because it rolled a bat 20 to attack. What's it scratching with? It has no limbs. It's tooth. That would be a bite. No. Because the tooth doesn't exist. It's not the one. What?

[00:05:30] It's a non-existent tooth it's using with. Non-existent tooth. Also. Non-existent limbs. No, no. It has limbs. We just never seen them because they're always underground. That's logic. That's logic. Tackle. Round two. So is Duck Trio three diglets or is it a diglet with three heads? Eleven. So it matches. Oh, sweet. What? What did I do? What did I do wrong? Quick attack goes first, unless you both hit a quick attack, and then it's the higher speed. It's probably not going to hit. It's going to attack with a poison sting.

[00:13:44] Um, it got a, uh... It goes to your speed by some left or something. No, no, quick attack's an attack that always goes to the front of the queue. You defend, uh, 10. Unless you both use it, and it has to go by speed. Okay. So you defend with a 10 plus your physical bonus. That means that there's one or two... So it totally doesn't hit that. It totally, like, goes to the front of the queue and it's just like... And it's like, whoa, Matrix style. Alright then. So, your turn. Uh, you've got to defend, uh, you have to attack a, uh... I'm assuming the defense is for regular defense, not special defense? Yes. Okay. I would have said special. Right. Okay. So, what are you doing? Okay, hold on.

[00:22:07] It's... You smell... You smell the faint smell of sizzling mushrooms. Coming from the sucker. Okay. Uh... It's going to attack... It's going to attack with a poison powder. Okay. Uh... [00:22:36] 75% chance that means anything over 25 hits. So, it hits. Yeah, it hits. Yep. So, your ground wolf... Is it poison? Is it an area effect or... It's... Yeah, it's one thing that bothers me. I always felt that the move should be, but it's not an X1. It's not an Y and X. What? They are implementing some of that in Y and X. Although, maybe not... They do... They implemented it in black and white as well. Okay. When you do a dual... A doubles battle, you can use attacks that attack multiples. Yeah.

[00:23:01] The fucking difference is, though, that your attacks that hit multiples would not hit your teammate. Now, they do. Yeah. Now, if it hits multiples, it hits everyone but your Pokemon. Well, that's because they implemented Porn. It's also because some... Have you seen that? Some moves will... Yes, I have. Uh, some moves will also fuck up the Pokemon that's using it if it's not the type of the move. Yeah. Like, uh, I got, uh, Tyrant. Oh, yeah. And, uh, Tyrant's rock dragon.

[00:23:27] But he learns a ground-type move that, uh, does damage to everyone unless the user is ground-type. Oh, shit. Tyrant's not. He's rock dragon. So I did not learn that move because I'm like, fuck that. I'm not taking damage every time. Oh, wow. Fuck that noise. Yeah, yeah. Okay. So, yeah, this thing is... Okay. So, Ralleth is poison. PSN. Uh, 1 16th of itself. I'm pretty sure. I'll look it up just to make sure I'm not wrong like I was with Burn.

[00:23:57] Uh, it says 1 8, but that doesn't seem right. Because I've been playing X and Y, and I've never seen my Pokemon lose that much off its life bar for poison. But it says 1 8. We can go with 1 8. Okay. Or we can go with 1 16th. What does everyone feel? 1 16th, 1 8. 1 8. 1 8. Okay. Alright. There we go. 1 8. So, uh, Leafeon's turn. Um, yeah, cause Growlithe doesn't actually... No, Growlithe takes his poison damage after Leafeon's turn. And if you finish this... No, he still takes the damage. No.

[00:24:27] As of, uh, as of X and Y, they take damage regardless. Really? Yeah. Cause in Black, wait... Yeah, I know. As of X and Y though, if, um... It remains... If their poison burned, whatever, the effect hits them at the end of the battle. Even if you take down the, uh, the enemy. Yep. That hurts. Yeah, it sucks. But the upside is that poison no longer damages them with every step. Like, you can have them poisoned in the Pokeball and you can run to the fucking Pokemon Center
